Charles Murphy
PETTISVILLE - Charles W. Murphy, 85, Pettisville, died early Thursday in his home in Mesa, Arizona.
He was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Fulton County, the son of Charles and Ada (Fraker) Murphy. He married
Margaret Preddy, who died in 1985. He then married
Maxine Robinson, who survives. He was a farmer and former superintendent of ODOT garage in Wauseon and member of First Christian Church, Wauseon.
Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia of Madisonville, Ky., and Sue Ann, Wauseon.
Also preceding him in death was a son, Charles.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the church with Rev. R. Keith Oditt officiating. Burial will be in Pettisville cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday in the church.

Wilna Krisher
WEST UNITY - Wilna L. Krisher, 87, West Unity, died Thursday morning in her home.
She was born Nov. 24, 1914, in Kunkle, the daughter of William and Lulu (Burkholder) Krisher Jr. She was an secretary for 24 years at Ewing Lumber Co., retiring in 1967, and a member of Carnation Literary Club, West Unity, and Van Wert YMCA.
Surviving are a niece and nephews.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Arthur and Clark; and two sisters, Mildred Johnson and Katherine Baltosser.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Floral Grove cemetery, Pioneer, with Rev. William Kight officiating. There will be no visitation. In charge of arrangements is Hollingshead Funeral Home, West Unity.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice of Williams County Hospitals.
Esther Mohr
Services for Esther D. Mohr were held Friday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Michael Mohr officiating. Burial was in Sherwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Matthew and Melvin Mohr and Revs. David and Paul Eichar and Dr. Michael Mohr.
Cecil Sanford
Services for Cecil A. Sanford were held Saturday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Anderson officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens with military rites accorded by VFW 3360. Pallbearers were Barry Froelich, Tom Sanford Jr., Scott and Norm Sanford, Mike Lindeman, Katie Sanford Greep and Mark Speiser.
James Wire
Services for James A. Wire were held Saturday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Anderson officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Defiance. Pallbearers were Chris, Doug, Tom and Tim Wire, Jeff Zellner and Eric Fillinger.
Ilene Pence
Services for Ilene Rupp Pence were held Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church, Defiance, with Rev. Bob McNamara officiating. Music was provided by the church's bell choir. Organist was Neal Deniston. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Bailey, Steve Graf, John Jacob, Dan Richard, and Don and Ed Smith. Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, Defiance, handled arrangements.
James Wire
James A. Wire, 80, Defiance, died at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday in Defiance Hospital.
He was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Posey County, Ind., the son of Thomas and Margaret (Blythe) Wire. In 1976, he married
Mildred Slough, who survives. He graduated from Oakland City College in Evansville, Ind., and Southern Baptist Seminary, Louisville, Ky., and earned a master's degree in psychology from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind. He was a psychologist in Defiance County Schools, worked in the testing department at Ohio Northern University, Ada, and was clinical psychologist at Maumee Valley Guidance Center. He attended St. Paul United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Also surviving are three sons, Keith of Ada, Gary of Tucson, Ariz., and John, Napoleon; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Larry (Rebecca) Fillinger, Defiance; a stepson, Tom Killion, Toledo; a sister, Parna Harris, Tucson; a half sister, Lottie Strickland, Evansville; six grandchildren, including Nancy Zellner, Sherwood, whom he and his wife raised; and three stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Walter and Russell; three sisters, Gladys Tinsley, Francis Cristie and Louise Wire; and a half brother, Thomas.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. today.

Verma Wahl
Verma Wahl, 78, Defiance, died at 2:45 a.m. today in her residence. She is survived by her husband, Marvin. Arrangements are pending at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
L. Ferrel Varner
L. Ferrel Varner, 85, Defiance, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday in Defiance Hospital.
She was born April 10, 1916, in Defiance County, the daughter of Saul and Elva (McClure) Bish. In 1942, she married
Donald Varner, who died in 1974. She was a secretary for the city of Defiance, a member of First Church of God and American Legion Post 117 Auxiliary and a life member of VFW Post 3360 Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane Hill, Defiance; a son, Donnie, Defiance; two sisters, Verna Snyder of Fort Wayne and Mavel Hendrickson, Wauseon; and four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-stepgrandchild.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Murlin Bish; and two sisters, Lillie Weber and Opal Belden.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Revs. Rick Rufenacht and Larry Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Sunday.

Henry Buchhop
NAPOLEON - Henry (Hank) W. Buchhop, 66, Napoleon, died Wednesday in Martinsville, Va.
He was born March 8, 1935, in Henry County's Freedom Township, the son of Fred and Emma (Gerken) Buchhop. In 1994, he married
Joann (Henricks) Starkey, who survives. He was a farmer for more than 50 years, a truck driver for Pedroza Trucking and the former Foster Canning Co., a social member of Napoleon VFW Post 8218 and a former member of Maumee Valley Pool League. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Township, where he was a deacon, a church school board member and basketball coach.
Also surviving are three sons, Michael, Kevin and Jeffrey, all of Napoleon; three stepdaughters, Kathy Dean of Bowling Green, Jackie Carr of Mesa, Ariz., and Debra Higgins, Whitehouse; a stepson, Bob Starkey, Mesa; a brother, Marvin, Liberty Center; a sister, Marian, Napoleon; and 16 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, Raymond.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the church with Rev. Steven Niermann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, and one hour prior to services Monday in the church.

Dr. Julian Movchan
WARREN, Mich. - Former Oakwood resident Dr. Julian Movchan, 88, Warren, died Sunday in his home.
He was born Feb. 19, 1913, in Zorokiv, Ukraine. His wife, Olena, survives. He practiced medicine in Malinta, Oakwood and Macedonia, before retiring in 1986. He had been a journalist with newspapers prior to the Soviet regime and attended medical school in Kharkiv and Lviv, Ukraine, before graduating in 1943. He then went to Slovakia, Austria, and Germany before immigrating to the U.S. in 1949. He passed the Ohio Medical Boards in 1953 and became an American citizen in 1955. He authored eight books and was a regular contributor to Ukranian-language newspapers. In 2001, a handbook with his works was published as a textbook in the Ukraine.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lida Plesh of Chicago and Ola Iwanicki, Warren; two sisters in Ukraine; and four grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Lytwyn and Lytwyn Funeral Home, Union, N.J. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Ukrainian cemetery, South Bound Brook, N.J. Visitation is one hour prior to services.
Preferred memorials are to ADU-Detroit Branch, Textbook Project.
Edith Rahmel
Services for Edith L. Rahmel were held Thursday in Ayersville United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Cole officiating. Burial was in Ayersville cemetery. Music was provided by Barb Roth and Gay Ann Homsher. Pallbearers were Eric, Adam and Kevin Jorrey, Peter and Andrew Bixel and Michael and Ben Homsher. Honorary pallbearers were Molly Bixel and Holly Homsher. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Vern Shirley Stork Sr.
Services for Vern Shirley Stork Sr. were held Thursday in St. John United Church of Christ with Rev. Alfred Schroeder officiating. Organist was Carolyn Small. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Zuber, Nate Arps and Eric, Kevin, Chris, Chad, Jason and Michael Stork and Julie March. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Cecil Sanford
Cecil A. Sanford, 77, Defiance, died at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday in his residence. Among survivors is his wife, Phyllis. Arrangements are pending at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
Parnell Sitton Sr.
PAULDING - Parnell (Par) F. Sitton Sr., 76, Paulding, died at 8:50 a.m. Monday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Jan. 30, 1925, the son of James and Mary (Riley) Sitton. In 1946, he married
Charlotte Hagen, who survives. He was the owner/operator of CD Oil Co., Cecil, for 35-years before retiring in 1985, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Also surviving are four sons, Robert of Hicksville, Gordon of Cecil, Parnell Jr. of Holiday, Fla., and James, Paulding; five daughters, Mrs. Tom (Lorna) Stafford of Paulding, Mrs. Pete (Joyce) Lengvenas of Denver, Mrs. Ron (Sherry) Hostettler of Cecil, Mrs. Steve (Peg) Hobson of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Don (Jeannie) Thompson, Cecil; and 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, William and James; two sisters, Eleanor Topp and Helen Booher; and two granddaughters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with Pastor Bobby Branham officiating. Burial and military services will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to Paulding EMS or Paulding County Hospital Home Health Care.
Esther Mohr
SHERWOOD - Esther D. Mohr, 63, Sherwood, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in her home.
She was born Feb. 16, 1938, in Tedrow, the daughter of Rev. David and Delight (Bragg) Eichar. In 1964, she married
Howard Mohr, who survives. She attended Bowling Green State University, was a merchandise receiver at Bryan Chief Supermarket for 25 years, and a member of Sherwood United Methodist Church where she served as organist, choir director, Sunday school superintendent, teacher and vacation Bible school director. She was a piano and organ teacher, Cub Scout den leader and Defiance County 4-H adviser.
Also surviving are her mother, North Baltimore; four sons, Mark of Lima, Michael of Marion, Matthew of Marysville and Melvin, Sherwood; two brothers, Rev. David Eichar of Findlay and Rev. Paul Eichar, Cygnet; and four grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her father.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance, with Dr. Michael Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday.
