Richard Lindeman, 39, Defiance, died at 10 p.m. Sunday in his home. Arrangements are pending at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
Berniece Short
ARCHBOLD - Berniece Short, 91, Archbold, died Sunday morning in her home.
She was born May 27, 1910, near Goshen, Ind., the daughter of Douglas and Amanda (Martin) Maust. In 1946, she married
Henry Short, who died in 1985. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Zion Mennonite Church, Archbold.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Anna) Dinius of Archbold and Mrs. Dick (Jane) Yoder-Short, Kalona, Iowa; a brother, Herb Maust, Goshen; a sister, Anabel Hartman, Elkhart, Ind.; and nine grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a sister, Arvilla Anglemeyer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church with Jeff Wintermote and Mona Sauder officiating. Burial will be in Pettisville cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday in Short Funeral Home, Archbold.
Mary Vance
FINDLAY - Former Melrose resident Mary (Judy) Vance, 56, Findlay, died at 2:39 a.m. Sunday in Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 13, 1945, in Nashville, the daughter of Dallas and Francis (Cothern) Rush. She married
Robert Guyton, who died in 1984. In 1992, she married
Willie Vance, who survives. She was a retired department manager at Hobby Lobby, Findlay.
Also surviving are four sons, Robert and Leslie Guyton, both of Grover Hill, Paul of South Charleston and Stephen, Lima; three daughters, Mrs. Duane (Connie) Landers of Melrose, Mrs. Rod (Carla) Weller of Continental and Mrs. Randy (Mary Jo) Brenner, Edgerton; a brother, Randal Rush, Houston; and eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; and a daughter, Roberta Guyton.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Melrose United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Parker officiating. Burial will be in Little Auglaize cemetery, Melrose. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today and 2-8 p.m. Tuesday in Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood, and one hour prior to services Wednesday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
Irene Pierman
HICKSVILLE - Irene Pierman, 90, Hicksville, died at 9 a.m. Saturday in Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Hicksville.
She was born April 27, 1911, in DeKalb County, Ind., the daughter of Lester and Lena (Pierman) Pierman. She was a homecare giver and a former member of North Scipio United Methodist Church.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, Don, Ross and Robert; and a sister, Mildred Welch.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Rev. Greg Inboden officiating. Burial will be in Scipio cemetery, Allen County, Ind. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Pauline Sarka
KALIDA - Pauline Mary Sarka, 84, Kalida, died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday in Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Ottawa.
She was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Cloverdale, the daughter of Henry and Myrtle (Combs) Sarka. She was an employee at Bert & Bernie's in Kalida, a cafeteria cook in Sylvania, a member of Continental United Methodist Church and a former member of Continental Senior Citizens.
Surviving are a brother, Alfred, Cloverdale; and a sister, Inez, Kalida.
Preceding her in death were a brother, Earl; and a sister, Bertie.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental, with Rev. Greg Wack officiating. Burial will be in Cascade cemetery, Cloverdale. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Preferred memorials are to Kalida EMS or the church.
Marie Anderson
MALINTA - Marie (Bunt) Anderson, 91, Malinta, died at 7 p.m. Saturday in Lutheran Home, Napoleon.
She was born March 18, 1910, in Harrison Township, the daughter of Fred and Lou (Zook) Hefflinger. In 1927, she married
Arthur Anderson, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, Napoleon.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Norma) Shanks of Malinta and Mrs. Dan (Marlene) Kryder, McClure; a son, Michael, Napoleon; and nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were nine brothers, five sisters, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church with Rev. Roger Fischer officiating. Burial will be in Hoy cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. today in Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and one hour prior to services Tuesday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to Henry County Hospice, the church or a charity of the donor's choice.
Paul Atkison
NAPOLEON - Paul Atkison, 84, Napoleon, died Sunday morning in Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.
He was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Van Wert, the son of Joseph and Carrie (Smith) Atkison. In 1939, he married
Kathryn Roebeson, who survives. He worked at Campbell Soup Co., Napoleon, for 22 years, retiring in 1979, attended Napoleon Wesleyan Church and was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
Also surviving are a son, Paul, Napoleon; a sister, Alta Mae Walchle, Englewood, Fla.; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Marie Hirchey.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Van Wert County's Hoaglin Township, with Rev. James Morehart officiating. There will be no visitation. Handling arrangements is Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.

NAPOLEON - Dale (Mac) O. McVetta, 86, Napoleon, died this morning in Heartland of Wauseon. Arrangements are pending in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.
Julius Wagner
Julius Wagner, 82, Defiance, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Defiance Hospital.
He was born June 25, 1919, in Defiance County's Highland Township, the son of Frederick and Mary (Crampton) Wagner. In 1946, he married
Lea Wolff, who died in 1974. He worked for General Motors for 35 years before retiring in 1983. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in North Africa and the European Theater and a member of AMVETS Post 1991, VFW Post 3360, American Legion Post 117 and Eagles Aerie 372.
Surviving are three sons, Robert and Richard, both of Chicago, and Lester, Defiance; a daughter, Mrs. Vern (Donna) Sweinhagen, Defiance; and 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Melvin, Clarence and Alva; and three sisters, Maudie Edwards, Dorothy Wagner and Hazel Wolf.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with Rev. Don Luhring officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens with military services conducted by VFW Post 3360. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 Sunday with an AMVETS service at 7 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.
Frances Wheeler
Frances Wheeler, 83, Defiance, died at 12:35 a.m. today in Brookview Healthcare Center. Among survivors is her husband, Keith. Arrangements are pending at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
Patricia Means
HICKSVILLE - Patricia Ann Means, 59, Hicksville, died at 4:17 a.m. Thursday in Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo.
She was born June 14, 1942, in Camden, Mich., the daughter of Tom and Fonda (Brown) Gordon. She worked at Electric Motors in Garrett, Ind., and Thrifty Discount Store, Hicksville. She was a member of Hicksville First Church of Christ and Eagles Aerie 2556 Auxiliary.
Surviving are four sons, Randy Gordon of St. Louis, and Clark Poth and David and Scott Carwile, all of Hicksville; a sister, Geraldine Nold, St. Charles, Mo.; a brother, Tom Gordon, Hendersonville, Tenn.; and 12 grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Steven Hicks; and a sister, Linda Gillespie.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Pastor Ken Wellman officiating. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Saturday and after 12 p.m. Sunday. An Eagles Aerie 2556 Auxiliary service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.
Earl Shasteen
NAPOLEON - Earl E. Shasteen, 86, Napoleon, died at 3:10 a.m. Thursday in his home.
He was born March 29, 1915, in Henry County, the son of James and Doris (Marks) Shasteen. In 1938, he married
Helen Mengerink, who died in 1980. In 1985, he married
Dorothy Deitrick, who survives. He was a general maintenance supervisor for 22 years at the U.S. Post Office, Napoleon, retiring in 1969, and worked at the former Gray's Steel and Fabricating, Napoleon. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon, and a life member of Bert G. Taylor American Legion Post 300, AMVETS Post 1313 and DAV Chapter 30, all of Napoleon.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ken (Mary) Knipp of Fort Collins, Colo., and Mrs. Allen (Carol Sue) Hirschey Zimmerman, Thorntown, Ind.; a brother, Frank, Defiance; two sisters, Mrs. Carlton (Helen) Kenning of Napoleon and Mrs. Richard (Marie) Ament, North Versailles, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the church with Father Anthony Gallagher officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery, Napoleon, with military rites accorded by joint veterans' posts of Napoleon. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Sunday in Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, with a scripture service at 8:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the church, Hospice of Henry County or a charity of the donor's choice.
William Hanna
ONEONTA, Ala. - Defiance native William Frank Hanna, 75, Oneonta, died Sunday in his residence.
He was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Defiance, the son of Louis and Leora (Essex) Hanna. He married
Sarah Johnson, who survives. He was a truck driver, a retired construction contractor, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and attended Taits Gap Baptist Church.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert Hogan of Kendallville, Ind., Greg Gilliland of Oneonta and Phillip Gilliland, Highland Lake, Ala.; three brothers, Paul of Virginia, Louis Jr. of Apopka, Fla., and Roger, Oneonta; six sisters, Margaret Tyler of Garden City, Mich., JoAnn Baldwin of Ayersville, Juanita Roberts and Mary Gamble, both of Apopka, Lynn Laney of Hicksville and Karen Hopson, Fort Pierce, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Services were held Thursday in Lemley Funeral Chapel, Oneonta, with Rev. Chris Reaves officiating. Burial was in Centre cemetery, Oneonta.
