Thelma Gearig
ARCHBOLD - Thelma M. Gearig, 88, Archbold, died Thursday evening at Fairlawn Haven, Archbold. She was the widow of Ivan Gearig. Arrangements are pending at Short Funeral Home, Archbold.
Orville Babcock
Services for Orville L. Babcock were held Thursday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Luhring officiating. Organist was Jan Kaiser. Burial was in Ayersville cemetery with military rites accorded by VFW Post 3360. Pallbearers were Jeffery Cox, Kyle Babcock, Dave Stewart, Bob Zimmerman and Rick and Gary Christensen.
Lorence Seedorf
DESHLER - Lorence Frederick Seedorf, 73, Deshler, died at 3:08 p.m. Wednesday in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Deshler, the son of Fred and Minna (Ehlers) Seedorf. In 1950, he married
Betty Mahlman, who survives. For 23 years, he was a farm machinery mechanic at Wensink Massey-Ferguson and Deshler Implement International Harvester. He retired in 1991 from Hancock-Wood Electric Utility in North Baltimore and was a life member, past commander and chaplin of Deshler American Legion Post 316, a life member of Ottawa VFW Post 9142 and a 45-year member of Deshler Volunteer Fire Department, serving as engineer from 1967-95.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the U.S. and Ohio LST/Amphibs Association, Grand Rapids Sportsmen's Club and Bavarian Club, Deshler. He was also a member of Patrick Henry Athletic Boosters, Monday Night Men's Bowling League and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler, and a volunteer at Kelly's Island State Park.
Also surviving are two sons, Kevin of Taylor, Mich., and Kurt, Deshler; two daughters, Mrs. Phil (Karen) Breece and Mrs. Tim (Krista) Rood, both of Deshler; a brother, Edwin, Liberty Center; and seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild, five step-grandchildren and seven great-stepgrandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Kimberly Spence; and a brother, Karl.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the church with Rev. Mark Bauer officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Deshler, where military honors will be accorded by Deshler American Legion Post 316. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. today at Rodenberger Funeral, Deshler, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. A VFW memorial service will be at 6:45 p.m. today followed by a fire department service at 7 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the church, Deshler Fire Department, Deshler American Legion Veterans' Memorial Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
Joshua Rosenbauer
ARCHBOLD - Joshua Michael Rosenbauer, 4 months, 404 Vine St., Archbold, died at 11:05 a.m. Thursday in his residence.
He was born Oct. 28, 1999, in Wauseon, the son of Ben and Julie (Shade) Rosenbauer. Also surviving are a brother, Nathan, at home; grandparents, Larry and Kay Shade of Stryker and Marv and Jane Rosenbauer, Holgate; and great-grandparents, Audrey Chappius of Stryker and Ralph and Gonda Shade, Bryan.
Preceding him in death was a grandfather, Jimmy Davis.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Archbold, with Revs. Gary Ferguson and Robert Kill officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Sunday in Short Funeral Home, Archbold, with an 8 p.m. scripture service.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice of Fulton and Williams Counties or Spinal Muscular Atrophy Association.
Edna Mohler
LIBERTY CENTER - Edna Ruth Mohler, 85, Liberty Center, died Thursday morning at Northcrest Nursing Home, Napoleon.
She was born July 24, 1914, in Lyons, the daughter of Alfred and Anna (Samlow) Follett. In 1932, she married
Adrian Mohler, who died in 1999. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Liberty Center, its Ladies' Aid Society, McClure Senior Citizens and AARP.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James (Barbara) Sattler of Lyons and Mrs. Carl (Priscilla) Schmidt, Aurora, Ill.; two sons, Michael of Milford and Thomas, Napoleon; and 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Janice Leonard; and two brothers, Arthur and Ervin Follett.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the church with Rev. Randy Gragg officiating. Burial will be in Young's cemetery, Liberty Center. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center.
Preferred memorials are to Alzheimer's Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
Clyde Swilling
STRYKER - Clyde C. Swilling, 83, Stryker, died Thursday evening in Community Hospital of Williams County-Montpelier. Among survivors are his wife, Sadie; and daughter, Faith Lambert. Arrangements are pending at Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker.
Ruth Wichman
FORT WAYNE - Ruth P. Wichman, 89, Fort Wayne, died Wednesday at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born April 4, 1910, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Bergman. She was a secretary at General Electric for many years, an auditor at GE Credit Union for 10 years and a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church.
Surviving are a son, Ronald, Fort Wayne; a sister, Virginia Brunner, Leo, Ind.; two brothers, Fred and Wayne Bergman, both of Fort Wayne; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, with Rev. Albert Keller Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Concordia cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. today.
Preferred memorials are to Turnstone Center.
Arville Hayes
MARIETTA - Former Liberty Center resident Arville Kenneth Hayes, 53, Marietta, died Tuesday afternoon.
He was born Oct. 9, 1946, in Bluefield, W.Va., the son of Arville and Louise (Atwell) Hayes. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, a former machine operator for Chrysler Corp. and a former member of Church of Christ, Napoleon.
Surviving are his mother, Deshler; a daughter, Mrs. Greg (Stephanie) Arnold, Richlands, Va.; a brother, William, Swanton; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Trula) Tanner, Swanton; and a grandchild.
Preceding him in death was his father.
Services will be private. There will be no visitation. Handling arrangements is Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.
Preferred memorials are to the charity of the donor's choice.
Ellen Bolley
HOLGATE - Ellen Jane Bolley, 64, Holgate, died at 4 p.m. Thursday in her residence.
She was born August 5, 1935, in Wood County, the daughter of Harlen and Ada (Vance) Yant. In 1954, she married
Junior Bolley, who survives. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Bend United Methodist Church.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. David (Debra) Wolff of Holgate, Mrs. Glen (Lora) Lockhart of Defiance and Mrs. John (Sueann) Pfund, Wauseon; two sisters, Elaine Faber of Wauseon, and Jean Von Deylen, Whitehouse; and five grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and four great-stepgrandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, LaVern Yant; and two sisters, Fern Clingman and Mary Bateson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, with Rev. Deb Berry officiating. Burial will be in Ayersville cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday.
Preferred memorials are to the church, Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance or American Cancer Society.
John Leu
WEST UNITY - John Edward Leu, 85, West Unity, died today at his home.
He was born Oct. 15, 1914, near Lockport, the son of Clarence and Amanda (Short) Leu. In 1942, he married
Grace Sieber, who died in 1999. He was a retired building contractor and owner of Leu Building and Supply Co. He was also an agent with Midwestern Life Insurance Co. and a member of Solid Rock Community Church.
Surviving are two sons, J. Devon of Brunswick, Md., and Darrell, West Unity; two daughters, Debra Hutchinson of Indianapolis and Mrs. Dan (Deanna) Custar, West Unity; two brothers, Milo of Stryker and Doyle, West Unity; a sister, Treva Leu, West Unity; and ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Clinton, and a twin, Jacob.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Lockport Church with Revs. Clifford Brubaker and Bob Yates officiating. Burial will precede services in Lockport cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday in Hollingshead Funeral Home, West Unity.
Preferred memorials are to Salem Mennonite Church.
Haley Schauer
Word was received of the stillborn death of Haley Nicole Schauer, Defiance, at 10:28 a.m. Wednesday in Defiance Hospital.
She was the daughter of Steven and Cheryl (Lambert) Schauer, Defiance. Also surviving are her grandparents, Richard and Rita Lambert of Grover Hill and Joseph and Barbara Schauer, Maumee; and a great-grandfather, Erwin Eaken, Payne.
Private services will be held at Pleasant View cemetery, Paulding County, with Rev. Kevin Compston officiating. There will be no visitation.
Preferred memorials are to the family.

Mildred Carman
Mildred I. Carman, 92, Defiance, died at 3:10 p.m. Monday in Leisure Oaks Convalescent Center.
She was born May 23, 1908, in Defiance, the daughter of John and Wilhelmina (Schackow) Kroeckel. She married
Robert Carman, who died in 1960. She was a nurses' aide during World War II and worked at Capitol Federal Savings and Loan, Lansing, Mich., until her retirement. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Defiance County Senior Center.
Surviving is a niece.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Rev. Clarence Kroeckel; and two sisters, Helen Blue and Justine Meyer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with Rev. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery. Visitation is from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
Preferred memorials are to Defiance County Senior Center.
