Warren Wyse
ARCHBOLD - Warren E. Wyse, 76, Archbold, died Tuesday evening in Heartland of Wauseon.
He was born Jan. 3, 1923, near Stryker, the son of Joseph and Mabel (Short) Wyse. In 1942, he married Nellie Schmucker, who died in January. He farmed in the Stryker area for many years, worked at the former Challenge Cook Brothers in Bryan and was a clerk for Yoder and Frey, Archbold, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker.
Surviving are three sons, Jerry of Haven, Kan., Ronald of Camden, Mich., and Kenneth, Creston, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Sandra) Miller of Elkhart, Ind., and Mrs. Jay (Cynthia) Preston, Mosinee, Wis.; a brother, Mahler, Archbold; and 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a son, Stephen; two brothers, Junior and Marvin; and two sisters in infancy.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the church with Rev. Allen Rutter and Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be in Lockport cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Friday at the church. Handling arrangements is Short Funeral Home, Archbold.
Preferred memorials are to the church.

Bob Kemp
HILLSDALE, Mich. - Bob L. Kemp, 64, Hillsdale, died Wednesday morning at his home.
He was born July 22, 1935, in Saco, Mo., the son of Earcie and Hazel (Young) Kemp. In 1979, he married Barbara Cole, who survives. He was a United Steel Worker's Union representative for 23 years and had served as president of all U.S. union representatives for four years, retiring in 1989. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Also surviving are two sons, George and Wade, both of Bowling Green; three stepsons, Zeno Miller of Archbold and Steve and Randy Miller, both of Pettisville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Michael (Debra) Nafziger, Pettisville; a brother, L.C., Garden Grove, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Imogene) Hill of Fredericktown, Mo., Paulene Baldwin of Bismark, Mo., and Mrs. Dick (June) Reagan, Garden Grove; and 12 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a son, John.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Short Funeral Home, Archbold, with Rev. Thomas Lyberg officiating. Burial will be in Floral Grove cemetery, near Pioneer. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Friday.
Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society or to hospice.

Martha Jenkins
GROVER HILL - Martha A. Jenkins, 91, Grover Hill, died at 9:59 p.m. Wednesday in Paulding County Hospital. She was the widow of Raymond Jenkins, who died in 1963. Arrangements are pending at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.

Thesel Dickman
ASHLAND - Defiance native Thesel M. Dickman, 88, Ashland, died Wednesday morning at her residence.
She was born Nov. 25, 1911, in Defiance, the daughter of Jerry and Nora (Grant) Andrews. In 1930, she married Forrest Dickman, who died in 1952. She was a former employee of Cresco Manufacturing Co., a member of First United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star, Ashland Chapter 92, serving as its worthy matron in 1954.
Surviving are a son, Jack, Mansfield; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Mary Ann) Finlay, Ashland; and 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Gerald; two sisters, Mildred Bolley and Catherine Hill; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home, Ashland, with Rev. Budd Sprague officiating. Burial will be in Ashland cemetery. Visitation is a half-hour prior to services Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland, Ohio 44805.

Ben Barski
SANFORD, N.C. - Former Defiance resident Ben A. Barski, 82, Sanford, died Tuesday at Central Carolina Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, Sanford. A member of St. Stephen's men's club, he was a former CCD teacher and charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Spillane Council 6717, where he served as a 3rd degree grand knight and district deputy. He was also a 4th degree K of C member with Father William J. Dillion Assembly, where he was a former faithful navigator. He was also a past member of the Sanford Engineers Club, a life member of the Elks Club and a Meals on Wheels and Lamb volunteer.
Also surviving are two daughters, Pauline Rosendaul of Sanford and Marilyn Wirick, Defiance; a sister, Irene Szlembarski, Parma; and nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the church with Rev. Mark Betti officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at Miller-Boles Funeral Home, Sanford.
Preferred memorials are to the church, National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina in Charlotte or American Diabetes Association of North Carolina, Rocky Mount, N.C.

Helen Harker
SIDNEY - Defiance County native Helen I. Harker, 87, Sidney, died early Wednesday at Upper Miami Valley Hospital, Troy, following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 12, 1912, in Defiance County's Farmer Township, the daughter of Fred and Inez (Beattie) Fritz. In 1938, she married Eldon Harker, who died in 1984. She was a homemaker and lived in Edgerton before moving to Sidney in 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Cheryl) Kies, Sidney; a brother, Fred Fritz, Kendallville, Ind.; three sisters, Martha Luke of Edgerton, Bernardine Fritz of Bryan and Mrs. Sam (Myra) Mowry, Bonita Springs, Fla.; and 10 stepgrandchildren, 21 great-stepgrandchildren and three great-great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Delphin and Estell Fritz; and two sisters, Marjorie Fritz and Irene Goebel.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Dr. Keith Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Edgerton. Visitation is from noon-2 p.m. Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice of Wilson Hospital, Sidney.

Veleda Copeland
NAPOLEON - Veleda Blanche Copeland, 95, Napoleon, died early Wednesday at Holgate Quality Care Center.
She was born March 19, 1904, in Bremen, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Guyton) Young. In 1925, she married Ralph Copeland, who died in 1942. She was a retired LPN and worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Dayton, for more than 30 years. She received her nursing degree from Piqua Memorial Hospital and was a member of Napoleon Church of the Nazarene and Prime Timers.
Surviving are two sons, Ralph of Strong, Maine, and Jack, Defiance; three daughters, Betty Jo Copeland of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Tony (Janet) Parcher of Napoleon and Mrs. Lee (Barbara) Kiser, Thomasville, Ga.; and 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a sister, Janice Moyer; and two brothers, Cecil and Lowell Young.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, with Rev. David Lutz officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Forest Hill cemetery, Piqua. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. today.
Preferred memorials are to the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Martha Eickhoff
NAPOLEON - Martha Eickhoff, 81, Napoleon, died Wednesday night at Henry County Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon.

Pluma Short
ARCHBOLD - Pluma Short, 93, Archbold, died Wednesday morning at Fairlawn Haven, Archbold, where she lived since 1996.
She was born Sept. 11, 1906, near Grabill, Ind., the daughter of Solomon and Mary (Neuhauser) Yoder. In 1929, she married Sylvan Short, who died in 1956. She was a homemaker and a member of Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker.
Surviving are two sons, Donald of Fort Wayne and Merle, Archbold; a daughter, Carol King, Archbold; and 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Lawrence Yoder and two in infancy; five sisters, Jeanette Short, Anna Beck, Katie Short, Martha Liechty and Wilma Graber; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the church with Revs. Allen Rutter, Charles Gautsche and Tim Short officiating. Burial will precede services in Lockport cemetery. Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m.-noon Friday at Short Funeral Home, Archbold.
Preferred memorials are to Fairlawn Haven's chapel fund.

Lena Tomlinson
DENVER - Word was received today of the Feb. 19 death of former Williams Center resident Lena Marie Tomlinson, 97, Denver.
She was born Oct. 15, 1902, near Elmira, the daughter of Fred and Lizzie (Palmer) Lorentz. In 1922, she married Herbert Tomlinson, who died in 1962. She earned a teaching certificate from Bowling Green State University and taught in a one-room country school. She was a member of the National Grange Association for more than 55 years and the recipient of its Golden Sheaf Award in 1985. She was also a member of Town & Country Club in Bryan, Farmer Get Together Club and Williams Center Calvary United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Doris Lehnert, Denver; and seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Giles; two brothers, Howard and Paul Lorentz; and two sisters, Eva Weber and Ruth Burns.
Services will be at 1 p.m. April 16 in Williams Center Calvary United Methodist Church.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.

Gaylene Ward
DESHLER - Former Deshler resident Gaylene Sue Ward, 36, died Wednesday at Waterford Commons, Toledo.
She was born April 3, 1963, in Toledo, the daughter of Jerry and Anna (McMillen) Ward.
Surviving are her father and stepmother, Lois Forbess-Ward, Deshler; a brother, Roger, Deshler; four sisters, Kathleen of Napoleon, Mrs. Mark (Connie) King of Richfield, Minn., and Mrs. Mike (Beverly) Holloway and Mrs. Charles (Barbara) Schuller, both of Deshler.
Preceding her in death were her mother; and a brother, Ralph.
Services will be private. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate.
Preferred memorials are to Filling Memorial Home of Mercy or a charity of the donor's choice.

Letha Peters
Services for Letha M. Peters were held Wednesday at St. John United Church of Christ with Rev. Alfred Schroeder officiating. Music was provided by Carolyn Small and Jim Steinhelfer. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Pallbearers were George Wintringer, Ben Ordway, John Layman, Ralph Hutchinson, Jack Lorenz and Harold Grossheim. Honorary pallbearers were Diane Mayer, Kenny Hancock, Tom Slusser and Bonnie Kaeming. Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home handled arrangements.
