Marion Sindel
EDGERTON - Marion J. Sindel, 87, rural Edgerton, died Monday evening in Park View Nursing Center, Edgerton, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 4, 1913, near Edgerton, the son of Fred and Estella (Mowry) Sindel. In 1936, he married
Fern Wertman, who died in 1996. He was a farmer, retiring in 1975.
Surviving are a son, Jack, Edgerton; two daughters, Mrs. John (Jean) Goebel and Mrs. Tom (Shirley) Wickerham, both of Edgerton; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, three sisters and a grandson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Rev. Lloyd Turnbull officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today.
Preferred memorials are to West Milford Church of Christ or Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties.
E. Gail George
LEIPSIC - Former Leipsic resident E. Gail George, 83, Findlay, died at 4:35 a.m. Tuesday in The Heritage, Findlay.
She was born March 13, 1916, in Putnam County, the daughter of Albert and Amy (Wingate) George. She retired in 1972 from teaching at Liberty Center Local Schools and was a member of Leipsic United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women. She was a member of the local, state and national Retired Teachers' Associations, Delta Kappa Gamma, Order of Eastern Star Trinity Chapter 16 and Otterbein-Leipsic Auxiliary. She was a former member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Napoleon, and a graduate of Findlay College and Ohio State University.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were three sisters, Dona Van Scoyoc, Alta Snyder and Maver Tobias; and two brothers, Paul and Arthur George.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic, with chaplain Pam Kimmel officiating. Burial will be in West Belmore cemetery. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Friday and from 9-11 a.m. Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.
J. Kirk Krutsch
PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Word was received of the Feb. 22 death of Defiance native J. Kirk Krutsch, 83, Palm Harbor, at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor.
He was born Aug. 27, 1916, in Defiance, the son of Joseph and Hazel (Kirk) Krutsch. He married
Annabelle Fisher, who survives. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II, graduated from Ohio State University and received his master's degree from Cornell University, Ithaca N.Y. He was a Defiance High School teacher and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Clearwater, where he served as an RCIA facilitator. He was also director of compensation and benefits at Aro Corp., Bryan, for 15 years.
Also surviving were three sons, David of Orlando, Paul of Redlands, Calif., and Thomas, San Ramon, Calif.; a daughter, Kathi McClanahan, Grand Blanc, Mich.; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 26 at the church with Rev. Ted Costello officiating.
Lora Haase
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Former Hamler resident Lora Anne Haase, 85, Bonita Springs, died Monday morning at her son's residence in Florida.
She was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Henry County's Marion Township, the daughter of William and Emma (Cordes) Meyer. In 1935, she married
Walter Rohrs, who died in 1977. In 1979, she married
Clarence Haase, who died in 1999. She was a homemaker and helped on the farm. She was also a member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Bonita Springs and St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Hamler, formerly serving in its Ladies' Aid Society.
Surviving are a son, Arnie, Bonita Springs; a daughter, Vivian Theisen, Hamler; a stepson, Larry, Hamler; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Robert (Janette) Cook of Paulding and Mrs. Joseph (Nancy) Brown, Holgate; and five grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, six great-grandchildren and nine great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Arnold and Rudy Meyer; and a great-stepgrandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church with Rev. James Budke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Donald Hampshire
TUCSON, ARIZ. - Former Defiance City Schools assistant superintendent Donald L. Hampshire, 77, died Sunday in Tucson.
He was born June 9, 1922, in Evansport, the son of Albert and Mabel (Wilmer) Hampshire. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, attended University of Findlay and received a master's degree from Bowling Green State University in 1950. He taught and coached at Ohio City and Defiance City Schools, officiated high school and college basketball and served as secretary-treasurer of the Fifth District Football and Basketball Officials Association. He was appointed assistant superintendent and treasurer of Defiance City School serving from 1958-1980.
As Defiance's recreation director, he was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 3360, Defiance City Athletic Boosters Association, Ohio City and Defiance Masonic lodges, Defiance and Tucson Elks clubs, Defiance Kiwanis, St. Paul United Methodist Church and its board.
He also served as chairman on several committees for the United Fund and was a member of the local, Ohio and National Education Associations, Buckeye Association of School Administrators and Ohio Association of School Business Officials.
Surviving are his wife, Glenda; two sons, Don and David; a daughter, Beverly Terrell; and eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Private services were held in Tucson. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance.

Frank Arps
Frank R. Arps, 69, Defiance, died at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Among survivors are three daughters. Arrangements are pending at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
Henry Ferguson
HICKSVILLE - Henry N. Ferguson, 81, Hicksville, died at 10:10 p.m. Monday in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Sneedville, Tenn., the son of Raymond and Eliza (Collins) Ferguson. In 1937, he married
Helen Roberts, who died in 1987. He was a World War II veteran and worked at Universal Tool Co., Butler, Ind., retiring in 1984.
Surviving are a son, Roger, Fort Wayne; a half brother, Roose Collins, Sneedville; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Rev. Clarence Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home cemetery, Hicksville. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday.
Mark Talicska
BRYAN - Mark A. Talicska, 50, Bryan, died this morning at the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo, after an extended illness. Arrangements are pending at Rice Funeral Home, Bryan.
Glenna Landes
PERRYSBURG - Former Napoleon resident Glenna Irene Landes, 90, Perrysburg, died Tuesday morning at Heartland of Perrysburg Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 25, 1909, in Bath Township, Lima, the daughter of William and Olive (Snyder) McNett. In 1934, she married
Ralph Landes, who survives. She was a 1931 graduate of Lima Memorial School of Nursing and an RN at the former Heller Memorial Hospital and Dr. Manahan's office, both in Napoleon. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and Eastern Star, where she was recently honored with a 50-year pin from the Fulton County chapter.
Also surviving are two sons, Wayne of Holland and Norman, Columbus; three brothers, John, James and Jerry McNett, all of Lima; three sisters, Martha Cuesta of Los Angeles, Frances Hall of Elida and Barbara Carlock, Lima; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death in were two brothers, Ralph and Robert McNett; and six sisters, Lila McDorman, Julia Bucher, Helen Shepard, Dorothy Whitling, Maxine Downard and Betty McNett.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, with Rev. Michael Westbay officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation is after 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to the church, American Red Cross or a charity of the donor's choice.
Barbara Shinners
WAUSEON - Barbara A. Shinners, 73, Wauseon, died Tuesday at Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo.
She was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Defiance, the daughter of Anthony and Ruth (Ehrat) McCarthy. In 1969, she married
Richard Shinners, who survives. She was an LPN and worked at Dewiler Manor, Fulton County Health Center and Defiance Hospital prior to her retirement in 1988. She was a member of St. Caspar's Catholic Church in Wauseon and active in Hands of Grace.
Also surviving are five sons, Stephen Balbaugh of Metamora, Richard Balbaugh of Santa Maria, Calif., Daniel Hart of Cameron Park, Calif., and Patrick and Robert Hart, both of Wauseon; two daughters, Regina Hart of Zephyr, Ontario, and Julie Otterson, Archbold; a stepson, Dean Shinners; a foster daughter, Debbie Apger, Fayette; four sisters, Joan Buchman of Paulding, and Rose Hanna, Carolyn Willis and Mary McCarthy, all of Defiance; and 16 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death were five brothers.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the church with Rev. Robert Holden officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Defiance. Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon.
Preferred memorials are to Northwest Ohio Hospice, 3000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, 43551.
Noah Keller
Graveside services for Noah James Keller were held Tuesday at Cromley cemetery with Rev. David Tscherne officiating. Among survivors are his parents, Bret and Jody (Spencer) Keller, Defiance. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Susan Wagner
NAPOLEON - Susan M. Wagner, 42, Napoleon, died Wednesday afternoon at Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.
She was born Nov. 4, 1956, in Wauseon, the daughter of William and Lavina (Tuckerman) Grime. In 1988, she married
Thomas Wagner, who survives. She was a former material planner for A.E. Clevite Inc., Wauseon, for 17 years, and secretary for Leupp Building Services Inc., Napoleon. She was a member of Napoleon's Church of the Nazarene and earned an associate's degree in business from Northwest State Community College.
Also surviving are her father, Wauseon; two sons, Jay and Jason, both of Napoleon; a daughter, Michelle, Napoleon; three brothers, Roger Grime of North Ridgeville, Lee Grime of Delta and Gene Grime, Columbus; and a sister, Kathy Galbraith, Delta.
Preceding her in death was her mother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, with Rev. David Lutz officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Friday.
Preferred memorials are to the children's trust fund or the church.
Lena Garver
BRYAN - Lena (Merillat) Garver, 96, Bryan, died late Tuesday at Toledo Hospital.
She was born June 25, 1903, in Wauseon, the daughter of Christian and Alice (Waldvogel) Merillat. In 1925, she married
Paul Garver, who died in 1987. She was a member of Bryan's Wesley United Methodist Church, a volunteer at Christian Women's United Thrift Shop and had formerly been employed at Spangler Candy Co.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Arden (Helen) Pacey, Bryan; a brother, Edward Merillat, Bryan; two sisters, Almeda Clark and Mrs. Gerald (Mary) Harris, both of Bryan; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Richard; and eight brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at noon Saturday in the church with Rev. Casey Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Shiffler cemetery, Bryan. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday at Rice Funeral Home, Bryan.
Preferred memorials are to the church's Paul and Lena Garver Endowment Fund.
