Cora Campbell
DUPONT - Cora K. Campbell, 77, Dupont, died at 7:12 a.m. Tuesday in her daughter's residence in Dupont.
She was born Jan. 31, 1922, in Putnam County, the daughter of Orren and Lestie (Matson) Reynolds. She married Edward Campbell, who preceded her in death. She retired in 1987 from Campbell Soup Co., Napoleon, and was a member of Dupont First Church of God.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Linda) Hubbard of Salem, Ind., and Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Branham, Dupont; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Jerry; a daughter, Vera Campbell; a brother, Corwin Reynolds; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental, with Rev. Paul Carder officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Dupont. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to Putnam County Home Health.

Viola Runyan
MONTPELIER - Viola F. Runyan, 92, Route 3, Montpelier, died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday in Hillside Country Living, Bryan.
She was born Jan. 5, 1907, in Swanton, the daughter of Jonas and Sara (Traut) Wyse. In 1931, she married Audus Runyan, who survives. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband, who constructed homes in Hillcrest Subdivision.
Also surviving are two sons, Audus of Defiance and Dwane, Covington; a daughter, Elaine Boland, Montpelier; a brother, John Wyse, Delta; a sister, Mrs. Chester (Blossom) Borucki, San Francisco; and eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a brother.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier, with Rev. Robert Waggoner officiating. Burial will be in Shiffler cemetery, Bryan. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to Madison Church of God or Hillside Country Living's chapel fund.

William Smith
Services for William Lane Smith were held Tuesday at Farmer United Methodist Church with Revs. Sharron Twining and Greg Wack officiating. Organist was Peggy Lucas. Burial was in Farmer cemetery. Pallbearers were Butch and Bill Smith, Tim and Scott Schlosser, Keith Wiemken, Kevin Moran and Bryan Wilhelm. Honorary pallbearers were Joshua, Aaron and Cody Smith, Justin Moran, Jordan Kinder and A.J. Wiemken. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jenetta Carder
CONTINENTAL - Jenetta May Carder, 85, Continental, died at 2 p.m. Monday in Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 15, 1914, in Kalida, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Miner) Little. In 1932, she married John Carder, who died in 1957. She retired from Sylvania in 1979 and was a member of its Quarter Century Club, Ottawa.
Surviving are two sons, Nelson of Ney and Bob, California; a daughter, Mrs. Terry (Tereas) Howard, Continental; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Robert; nine brothers and sisters; and a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental, with Rev. Russell Kirkendall officiating. Burial will be in Monroe cemetery, Continental. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and from noon Thursday until services.
Preferred memorials are to Putnam County Hospice.

Victor Shondal
HOLGATE - Henry County native Victor J. Shondal, 83, Columbus, died Monday at Heartland of Centerburg Nursing Home, Centerburg.
He was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Holgate, the son of M.S. and Regina (Grosswell) Shondal. In 1959, he married Virginia Carr-Homan, who survives. He was a carpenter and retired from D.C.S.C. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe, and the recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a life member of Gahanna's VFW Post 4719 and a member of St. James the Less, Columbus.
Also surviving are a stepdaughter, Nancy (Homan) Gwinn, Marengo; a brother, Alfred, Holgate; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Paul, Robert and Leo; and a sister, Winifred.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria, with Rev. Stephen Stanbery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites accorded by New Bavaria's Raymond Diemer VFW Post 8847. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. today at Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate.
Preferred memorials are to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Grace DeVore
GILBOA - Former Gilboa resident Grace L. DeVore, 94, Dover, died at 5:04 p.m. Monday in Hennis Care Center, Dover.
She was born July 10, 1905, in Putnam County, the daughter of Leonard and Pearl (Harris) Phillips. In 1923, she married Clarence DeVore, who died in 1986. A homemaker, she was a member of Gilboa United Methodist Church and Gilboa American Legion Auxiliary. She and her husband operated a family restaurant and grocery story in Gilboa for 16 years.
Surviving are a son, Darrell, Dover; a daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Thelma) Page, Southern Pines, N.C.; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers and a great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Harman cemetery, Gilboa, with Rev. Bonnie Light officiating. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Ottawa.
Memorials are to the church.

Warren Wyse
ARCHBOLD - Warren E. Wyse, 76, Archbold, died Tuesday evening at Heartland of Wauseon. Arrangements are pending at Short Funeral Home, Archbold.

Bob Kemp
HILLSDALE, Mich. - Bob L. Kemp, 64, Hillsdale, died early this morning at his home. Among survivors is his wife, Barbara. Arrangements are pending at Short Funeral Home, Archbold.

Hubert Hesselschwardt
Hubert J. Hesselschwardt, 74, rural Defiance, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday in his residence.
He was born Oct. 12, 1925, in Defiance County's Washington Township, the son of Bernard and Lillian (Grine) Hesselschwardt. In 1952, he married Hildonna Sheets, who survives. A journeyman millwright, he retired from General Motors in 1991 after 42 years. He was a member of Marysdale Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Japan. He was a life member of Defiance Knights of Columbus Council 1039, Jewell American Legion Post 635, Defiance Eagles Aerie 372, Defiance Fish and Game Club and National Rifle Association. He was a member of UAW Local 211 and a former member of Noble Township Fire Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary.
Also surviving are his mother, Defiance; two sons, Gale and Michael, both of Ney; two daughters, Donna of Defiance and Mrs. Mark (Deborah) Duquette, Barstow, Calif.; a brother, Edgar, Hicksville; three sisters, Mrs. Gilbert (Junella) Coolman of Ney, Mrs. James (Illa) Lutz of Edon and Mrs. Robert (Monica) Hearne, Defiance; and eight grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his father; a brother, Marvin; and four infant sons.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the church with Rev. William Martin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Jewell American Legion Post 635. Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Thursday and from 2-9 p.m. Friday at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance or a charity of the donor's choice.

Florence Stouder
Florence K. Stouder, 87, Defiance, died Tuesday at 12:50 p.m. in Laurels of Defiance.
She was born Sept. 24, 1912, in South Bend, Ind., the daughter of Rudolph and Bertha (Watson) Kline. In 1941, she married Eugene Stouder, who died in 1998. She attended Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., and was a homemaker. She was also a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and its Ruth Circle, Twin Rivers Garden Club and the 13 Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Philip (Marilyn) Eberle, Defiance; a son, Donald, North Royalton; a sister, Virginia Hickey, South Bend; and two grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a sister, Marguerite Shields.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery, South Bend. Visitation is from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to Alzheimer's Association.

Veleda Copeland
NAPOLEON - Veleda B. Copeland, 95, Napoleon, died early today at Holgate Quality Care Center, Holgate. Arrangements are pending at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.

Grace Miner
VAN WERT - Defiance County native Grace R. Miner, 74, Van Wert, died early Monday at her residence.
She was born March 16, 1925, in Defiance County, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Ranes) Shellenberger. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Morey Drew of Van Wert and Donald Shartzer, Haviland; three brothers, Alvin Shellenberger of Oakwood, Arnold Shellenberger of Texas and William Shellenberger, Arthur; two sisters, Virginia Busch of Defiance and Jean Grubb, Flint, Mich.; and 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Doris Landers; and three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, with Rev. David Gramm officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Van Wert. Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Thursday.

Jesse McCoy
VAN WERT - Jesse G. McCoy, 78, Van Wert, died at 12 a.m. Monday in Lima Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born May 30, 1921, in Rome County, W.Va., the son of Ervin and Clara (Kraft) McCoy. In 1942, he married Joanne Adams, who survives. He was a finish roller operator for S.E. Johnson Construction, Toledo, and formerly worked at Union Quarries for 46 years before retiring in 1986. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II and a life member of Van Wert VFW and American Legion posts.
Also surviving are a son, Travis, Convoy; three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Trudy) Webster, Mrs. Doug (Robbin) Benner and Mrs. Frank (Denise) Scott, all of Van Wert; a sister, Ada Taylor, Van Wert; and 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Wilford; and two sisters, Blondena Blaney and Birdie Mae White.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, with Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ridge cemetery, Middle Point, where military rites will be accorded by Van Wert VFW and American Legion posts. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. today.
Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.

Pluma Short
ARCHBOLD - Pluma Short, 93, Archbold, died early today at Fairlawn Haven, Archbold. She was the widow of Sylvan Short. Arrangements are pending at Short Funeral Home, Archbold.
