Clarence Mumy
MARK CENTER - Former Mark Center resident Clarence Mumy, 81, Fort Wayne, died Friday at 4:45 p.m. at Regency Place of Fort Wayne.
He was born March 17, 1918, in Antwerp, the son of Millard and Cora (Lehman) Mumy. In 1939, he married
Esther Woodring, who survives. A retired farmer, he was employed at the former L. Smith and Sons Buick/Pontiac dealership, Antwerp. He attended Cecil Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau and Cecil Grange.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Elizabeth) Garlock of Columbus and Mrs. Michael (Ellen) Jackson, New Haven, Ind.; a son, Harry, Fort Wayne; and seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Preceding him is death were five brothers, Peter, Emmett, Harry, Ralph and Burl; and two sisters, Daisy Tolbert and Nora Moore.
Services will be a 2 p.m. Tuesday at DenHerder Funeral Home, Paulding, with Rev. David Meriwether officiating. Burial will be in Rochester cemetery, Cecil. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and from 8 a.m. until the service Tuesday.

Byrde Slentz
NAPOLEON - Byrde E. Slentz, 98, Napoleon, died Friday morning at Napoleon Lutheran Home.
She was born April 25, 1901, in Ridgeville Corners, the daughter of George and Veronica (Steinman) Miller. In 1925, she married
Roy Slentz, who died in 1990. A 1923 graduate of Bowling Green State University, she taught elementary school at Ridgeville Corners, was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Ladies Progressive Club of Ridgeville for 50 years, and the state Teachers Retirement Association.
Surviving are a son, Vincent of Cuyahoga Falls; two daughters, Marilyn of Napoleon and Mrs. Tom (Joan) Beebe, Portage, Mich.; a sister, Georgia Hawkins, Toledo; and a grandson and two great-granddaughters.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Nellie Knape and Orpha Demaline.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Walker Mortuary with Rev. Linda Burger officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday.
Preferred memorials are to Napoleon Lutheran Home, First Presbyterian Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Claude Jackson
NAPOLEON - Claude J.R. Jackson, 63, formerly of Fort Wayne, died Friday at 8:45 p.m. in Napoleon.
He was born May 19, 1936, in Paulding County, the son of Claud and Rachel (Smith) Jackson. He retired in 1992 from B.F. Goodrich Uniroyal, Woodburn, Ind. He belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose 1480, the Navy Club of America 245 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3164, all of New Haven, Ind.
Surviving are his fiancee, Jan Ashbaugh, Napoleon; a son, Brad, Fort Wayne; a stepson, Tom Rhodes, Bryan; two brothers, Tom of Sherwood and Ed, Hicksville; four sisters, Sarah Kupfersmith of Paulding, Ruby Tinker of Lincoln, Mo., Rebecca Moore of Fort Wayne and Burta Smith, Antwerp; three grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Paulding Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Keith Sarver officiating. Burial will be in Cooper cemetery, Paulding. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8-11 a.m. Wednesday at DenHerder Funeral Home and an hour before services at the church.

Helen Vajen
NAPOLEON - Helen L. Vajen, 80, Napoleon, died Friday in the Lutheran Home.
She was born April 1, 1919, in Henry County, the daughter of Oscar and Elizabeth (Kuhlman) Harmon. In October, she married
Chalmer Vajen, who survives. A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, she worked at Campbell Soup Co. for 19 years.
Also surviving are two sons, Herbert and Richard, both of Napoleon; a brother, Junior Harmon, Napoleon; two sisters, Evelyn of Perrysburg and Hazel Eickhoff, Napoleon; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren..
Preceding her in death were six brothers, Robert, Leo, Lawerence, Donald, Harry and Floyd; and two sisters, Mable Foor and Doris Kruse.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the church with Revs. Norm Koy and Peter Marcis officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Saturday at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home.

Elbert Lambert
OAKWOOD - Elbert Lambert, 83, Oakwood, died at 3:25 p.m. Friday.
He was born April 18, 1916, in Ranger, W.Va., the son of Ira and Viola (Nelson) Lambert. In 1947, he married
Sylvia Adkins, who survives. He worked for C and O Railroad, Branchland, W.Va., retiring in 1976.
Also surviving are four sons, Lonnie of Paulding, Donald of Oakwood, Daniel of Defiance and Kennith, Holgate; a brother, Willie, Ranger, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were five brothers, Roy, Lloyd, Ernie, Connie, Collie and a sister, Letha Shelton.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at 14 Mile Church of Christ, Ranger. Burial will be in Nelson cemetery. Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Monday at Evans Funeral Home, Chapmanville, W.Va. Heitmeyer Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.

Henry Meyers Jr.
PETTISVILLE - Henry Meyers Jr., 90, Pettisville, died early Saturday at Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon.
He was born Nov. 28, 1909, near Denver, Colo., the son of Henry and Catherine (Steinbrecker) Myers Sr. In 1934, he married
Mabel Rychener, who died in 1998. He lived in the Pettisville area for 62 years hauling stone and gravel for local contractors before retiring. He was a member of Pettisville Missionary Church and lived for 112 years at Fairlawn West Haven, Archbold.
Surviving are a son, James, Perrysburg; a daughter, Mrs. Merrill (Shirley) Sams, Perrysburg; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Otto, and an infant; three sisters, Emma Wagner, Lydia Stevens and Marie Lind.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pettisville Missionary Church with Revs. David Dyck, David Blue and Charles Kauffman officiating. Burial will be in Pettisville cemetery. Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. Monday at Short Funeral Home, Archbold.

Alvin Burkhart
STRYKER - Alvin C. Burkhart, 83, Stryker, died Friday at Community Hospitals of Williams County, Bryan.
He was born Aug. 17, 1916, in New Bavaria, the son of Henry and Mary (Klingshirn) Burkhart. In 1950, he married
Dorothy Thomas, who survives. A retired farmer, he served during World War II in the United States Army. He was a member of Defiance VFW and DAV and Bryan Eagles Lodge.
Also surviving are five daughters, Rita and Patty, both of Stryker, Mrs. Alvin (Lois) West of Alvordton, Mrs. William (Bev) Perdue of Defiance and Mrs. David (Cheryl) Pfaff, Florida; a son, Charles, Stryker; and five grandchildren.
Preceding him is death were a daughter, six brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter cemetery, Archbold, where military rites will be conducted. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Grisier Funeral Home.

Bessie Schultz
Services for Bessie V. Tussing Schultz were held Friday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Hess officiating. Organist was Carolyn Small. Burial was in Myers cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff and Greg Schultz and Ed and Butch Hammersmith. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Esther Snyder
Services for Esther E. Snyder were held Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Mix officiating. Organist was Barbara Stephens. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Pallbearers were Phil Eureste, Abdo Abdouni, Patrick Small, Albert Garcia, Albert J. Garcia and Victor Engel. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Goldie Davison
Services for Goldie R. Davison were held Saturday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Revs. Michael Dyck and Jerry Davis officiating. Burial was in Prairie Chapel cemetery, Paulding. Pallbearers were James, Jeff, Larry, Tim, Dan and Randy Davison.
Alta Mae Sanders
Services for Alta Mae Sanders were Saturday at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with Rev. Alfred Schroeder officiating. Pallbearers were Tom, Brad, Tim and Jerry Sanders, Dave Penella, Mike Hillman and Mitch Warncke. Burial was in Webb cemetery.
Helene Fox
Helene E. Fox, 87, 703 Washington Ave., died at 3:45 p.m. Friday in Leisure Oaks Nursing Care Center, Defiance.
She was born Jan. 19, 1913, in Defiance, the daughter of John and Catherine (Fronk) Mekus. In 1944 she married
Paul Fox, who died in 1993. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society and Noodle Club.
Surviving are three sons, John, Bill and Tony, all of Defiance; two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Mary Kay) Rugh of New Philadelphia and Jane Lackey, Medina; and four grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers, George, Hubert and Herman Mekus and three sisters, Marcella, Leona and Sister Clara Marie Mekus, OP.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the church with Rev. Tim Kummerer officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Monday in Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, where a rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today.
