Gladys R. Weiker

Mrs. Weiker was born in Tiffin to the late Chalmer and Fern (Collins) Hoy. She graduated from Thompson High School in 1944 and had been a LPN at the former Colvin Nursing Home and later at the Bellevue Hospital, retiring from there in 1992.
Mrs. Weiker belonged to the Zion United Church of Christ at Fireside, the Clyde VFW and Moose, the Grandmother’s Club, and the Clyde Senior Citizens.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane (Calvin) Staib of New Reigel; James D. Weiker of Republic; Thomas (Boo) Weiker of Clyde. Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel E. Weiker, whom she married
on January 4, 1947 and he died on April 27, 2007. A sister, Margaret Armitage and two brothers, Kenneth Hoy and Carl Hoy also are deceased.

Winifred K. Keller

Miss Keller was born in Bellevue to the late William and Ida (Landefelt) Keller. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bellevue and the Ohio Teacher Retired Teachers. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1931 and Bowling Green State University in 1935 and then later received her master’s degree from Bowling Green. She was an elementary teacher for the Perkins Schools for 26 years, retiring in 1963.

Survivors include his daughter, Virginia Bennice (Dennis) of Maumee and a son, Thomas Wahl (Judy) of Norwalk; three grandchildren: Eric (Mindy) Wahl; Todd Bennice and Dr. Jennifer Bennice and great grandson, Wyatt Wahl.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Aurania (Vezos) Wahl, whom he married
on March 10, 1946 and she died on Jan. 30, 2002.
A sister, Lucille Hummel and a brother, Clarence “Junior” Wahl also preceded him in death.
He was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran.
He graduated from the Townsend High School in 1935 and was a charter member of the Townsend Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. and a member of the Townsend Ruritan Club.
Mr. Wahl was the President and CEO of Wahl Construction for many years prior to his retirement in the 1980’s.
Military graveside services will be provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.

Alice Louise Cook Walter

Alice Louise Cook Walter, 95, of Fremont died on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007 at the Countryside Continuing Care Center.
She was born on November 1, 1912 in Sandusky County to the now deceased Rollie and Mabel (Valentine) Cook. She was a homemaker and former member of the Clyd Christian Church for over fifty years, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher; nursery attendant; Elder and member of the Pulpit Committee. She was currently a member of the First United Church of Christ in Fremont.
In addition to volunteering at the Memorial Hospital for 25 years, where she logged over 16, 000 hours of donated service, she was a former Camp Fire Lead and homeroom mother.
Her activities included, meals on wheels, sewing puppets for the pediatric ward and young emergency room patients, being called on to help rock babies to sleep in the pediatric ward; created aprons that hold items on backs of wheelchairs; surgical hostess; registration desk hostess and transporting patients form their rooms to X-ray, therapy and when they were discharged from the hospital. She retired from volunteering in October 2001. She received the Exchange Club Book of Golden Deeds Award for her efforts. She also volunteered at the Parkview Nursing Home, reading books and writing letters for the residents.
Alice was known for her good deeds, loving her family, her church and her God.
She is survived by her children: Joyce Diewald, Palatine, Il; Jan Walter; Fremont; Donna Bischoff, Fremont; Harry (Mary) Walter, Seneca Hills, IL; Carol (Gary) Brown, Fremont and Phyllis (Jim) Wolf Fremont. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy Garland, Green Springs; Marilyn Freeh, Fremont and a brother, Albert Cook, Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Walter, whom she married
on Dec. 27, 1933; and he died in Dec. 1978.; two brothers, Carl Cook and Lester Cook and two sons-in-law.

Marion E. "Bucky" Ohl

Bucky was born in Fremont to Marion E., Sr. and Marilyn M. (Koleman) Ohl. His mother survives in Clyde.
He graduated from Clyde High School in 1967 and had been a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde. He was a construction worker.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his companion, Mae Mudrak; children: Jeffrey (Kim) Ohl, Elyria; Jennifer (Mark) Smith, Bellevue; and James (Tamara) Ohl, Seabrook, Maine; two grandchildren, Grace and Tyler; a sister, Kathy (Steven) Yoder, Vickery; and three brothers: James (Sharry) Ohl, Creston, CA; Robert Ohl, Paso Robles, Ca and Steven Ohl, Clyde.

Rudy was born in Clyde to John and Ascentia (Lopaz) Alafita. His father survives. He attended St. Mary’s School and Clyde High School. He had been a forklift operator and a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Ott) Alafita, whom he married
June 6, 1979; four daughters; Rachel Burlang; Christina Alafita; Tracy (Rick) Graeter, all of Fremont and April Alafita of Clyde. Fifteen grandchildren and three brothers and four sisters: Steven Alafita, Fremont; Daniel II (Vicky) Alafita, Bellevue; Teresa (Christopher) Powers, Clyde; Gary Alafita, Clyde; Vicki (Brent) Wurzel, Clyde; Mary Jane (Tim) Goodhand; Margaret Frances Alafita, Clyde.
Marjorie Ann Lippert

Mrs. Lippert was born in Clyde on June 20, 1930 to the late Murrell and Ruth (Thomas) Dick.
On July 5, 1952, she married
Donald E. Lippert, who died on August 19, 1993.
Marge is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (Charles) Baptista, Bellevue; a daughter-in-law, Kathryn Lippert-Lasky, of Tiffin. Grandchildren, Miranda "Mandy" (Eric) Bauer; Keith (Chassidy) Lippert; Nicholas Baptista; Stephanie Baptista as well as Katie Lasky, Marissa Lasky and Michael Lasky also survive.
She was preceeded in death by a son, Steven Lippert on Sept. 16, 1986; a sister, Phyllis Cox and two brothers, Richard Dick and Ronald Dick.
Marge graduated from Clyde High School in 1948 and had worked at General Electric for 38 years as a quality inspector.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a volunteer for Red Cross and Elmwood, in Green Springs. She was a former Little League coach and had been a member of a traveling softball league in the 1940's.

Mrs. Leathem was born in Summersville, West Virginia and graduated from Spencer High School in Spencer, West Virginia in 1969. She was a cook at the Burger King at both the Ohio Turnpike and Bellevue restaurants. She had been a part time custodian at the Bellevue Schools.
Pamela was a member of the Bellevue Revival Center and enjoyed gardening, crafts, camping, and hiking as well as all animals. She had a collection of Native American Indian artifacts.
She is survived by her husband, Gregory Leathem, Sr., whom she married
on March 20, 1997; a son, Jerrell Keith Miller (Jennifer)of Fremont and daughter, Alisa Miller of Fremont; step-sons Gregory Leathem, Jr. and Duane Leathem both of King George, Virginia. Two grandsons: Kyle Miller of Fremont and Dakota Krause, whom she helped raise; two step grandchildren; her mother, Marjorie Arreta (Taylor) Walker of West Virginia and father, Donald Eugene Metz of West Virginia; one brother, Douglas (Terrie) Metz of Chapel Hill, Tennessee; three sisters: Dareth (William) Harris of Ravenna, Ohio; Beverly (Robert) Wright of Spencer, West Virginia, and Melanie Taylor of West Virginia. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Her ex-husband, Jerrell (Jerry) Miller, also survives.
She was preceded in death by her step father, Rev. Orrville Walker; a brother, Gregory Metz; and step sister, RuthAnn Hershberger.
