David G. Rosenberry, 50, of Stone Creek, Ohio died Thursday, September 15, 2005 in his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Dave founded the Dover-Phila Glass and Mirror Company in Dover in 1988.
Born July 5, 1955 in Dover, he was the son of Dorotha Moran Lang of Dover and was preceded in death by his fathers James Lang and James Rosenberry. He was also preceded by his father in law, Dale 'Shorty' Dessecker and his niece, Jill 'Weazie' Campbell.
Dave was a member of the Dover Baptist Temple and was a 1973 graduate of Dover High School. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also especially enjoyed dog training.
In addition to his mother, Dave is survived by his wife, Laurie Dessecker Rosenberry with whom he celebrated 30 years of marriage on June 14; three daughters, Jessica (Bart) Rosenberry-Baldwin of North Port, Florida, Jaclyn Rosenberry and Jodie Rosenberry both of the home; one grandson, Dylan Baldwin; a brother, John 'Randy' Rosenberry of Canton a sister, Bertha (John) Burns of Magnolia; his mother in law, Bev Dessecker of Strasburg along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service celebrating David's life will be held Monday, September 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Dover Baptist Temple with Pastor Christopher Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Friends will be received on Sunday from 3-7 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. Friends may also call at the church Monday from 10-11 a.m..

Merle W. Marburger

Merle W. 'Tuffy' Marburger, 91, of Dover, Ohio died Saturday, September 10, 2005 in the Hennis Care Centre in Dover following an extended illness.
Merle owned and operated the former Marburger Grill in Strasburg and Bolivar for many years until his retirement in 1981.
Born July 21, 1914 in Lawrence Twp., Tuscarawas County, Ohio, he was the son of the late William and Lucinda Vielhauer Marburger.
Merle was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover and was confirmed in the St. Paul's (Ruslin Hills) UCC in Dover. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran having served on the USS Enterprise. Merle was a member and Past Commander of the Charles Hofer Post of the American Legion in Strasburg and was Past Commander of the Tuscarawas Council of American Legion posts. He was also a life member of the New Philadelphia VFW, Past Chef de Gar of the 40 et 8 #117 in Tuscarawas County, Life member of the Dover Elks Lodge, and the Bolivar Sportsmans Club. In his teenage years, Merle was a wellknown area boxer and ended his career undefeated. He also enjoyed harness racing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Harper Marburger who died February 21, 1993.
He is survived by one son and three daughters; Sally Secrest of Dover, Keith (Kathy) Marburger of Dover, Brenda Clugston of Canton, and Beth Marburger of Columbus; a daughter in law, June Marburger of Marion, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Jeff Secrest, Mark (Amanda) Secrest, Amy (Larry) Good, Heather (Brad) Krumpak, Kevin Clugston, Brian Marburger, Aaron Marburger, Matthew Marburger, and Cara Marburger along with five great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Merle was preceded in death by a son, Larry Marburger; son in law, Fred Clugston, a grandson, Todd Secrest, two brothers, Clinton and Karl Marburger and a sister, Alice Foos.
Funeral services celebrating Merle's life will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the St. John's United Church of Christ at Dover with Rev. Dan Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover.

Oliver R. Humerickhouse, 95, of Fairview Park, Ohio and formerly of Stone Creek died Friday, September 9, 2005 at his home.
He retired from Jim Boltz Excavating as a heavy machine operator. Oliver also enjoyed farming and owned and operated his own harvesting company.
Born September 15, 1909 in New Philadelphia he was a son of the late Fred and Emma Stucky Humerickhouse.
He was a member of Jerusalem Church, Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau and the Public Operators Union.
Oliver was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena Humerickhouse who died on September 13, 1998.
A devoted family man, Oliver is survived by a son, Charles (Doris) Humerickhouse of Cincinnati; daughter, Jo Ann (Donald) Wagner of Fairview Park; six grandchildren, Kenneth, Michael and Douglas Humerickhouse, Victoria Humerickhouse-Vollet, David Wagner and Kathleen Stepp; four great grandchildren; sister, Laura Murphy of New Philadelphia; brother, Elmer Humerickhouse of Canton.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle Ludy and Goldie Humerickhouse and a brother, Willis Humerickhouse.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover with Rev. Terry Downin officiating. Friends can call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 p.m.

Robert W. Sheets, 51, of Pennsylvania died Friday, September 9, 2005 at Doctor's Hospital in Massillon following a sudden illness.
He was a manager at Watsontown Brick Co. in Watsontown, Pennsylvania.
Born September 13, 1953 in Leesville, Ohio he was a son of Ruth Palmer Sheets of New Philadelphia and the late William Sheets.
He was a member of Watsontown United Methodist Church.
Bob is survived by his wife Jeanna McCaslin Sheets with whom he celebrated 22 years of marriage on January 8, 2005.
He is also survived by two daughters, Sarah and Amy Sheets both of Milton Pennsylvania; three sisters, Bev Sprowls of Sunbury, Ohio, Janet (Leo) Davis of Coshocton and Kate McCray of New Philadelphia.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, September 12, 2005 at 1:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. The body will be cremated following the service. Friends can call at the funeral home on Monday from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. A memorial service for the family and friends in Milton, Pennsylvania will be held at a later date.

Betty June Mathews (Metzger) died peacefully at home on September 8th, 2005 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Born September 11th, 1925, in Dover, Ohio she was a lifetime resident of Dover. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Emma Metzger, one son, Dennis Mathews, and one grand daughter Melanie K. Mathews.
Betty is survived by her husband of 63 years, Raymond J. Mathews, sons Gary (Miyuki) Mathews of Canton, Ohio, Tim (Marty) Mathews of Akron, Ohio, Jeff (Julie) Mathews of Ishpeming, Michigan, Ed Mathews of Northport, Florida, and daughter Sally Mathews of Sarasota, Florida, 8 grand children, and 6 great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, dedicated mother and grandmother, and was a cherished friend to many.
Betty was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Dover. She was an enthusiastic member of the choir and United Methodist Women and selected as woman of the year for her dedicated efforts. She was a member of Dover High School's Class of 43, worked many years as a medical assistant at Union Hospital, and with a number of Dover doctor's offices.
Friends may call on Sunday September 11, 2005 between 5 and 8 PM and Monday 10 - 10:45 AM at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 803 North Wooster Avenue, Dover, Ohio. Rev. Larry Black will officiate graveside services at Dover Burial Park on Monday at 11 a.m..

Catherine A. 'Katie' Polka Murray, 84, of Winfield, died peacefully Saturday, September 3, 2005 in Union Hospital.
For more than 20 years, she worked with GTE, holding a variety of positions before retiring as an assignment clerk.
Katie was born in Alderson, Oklahoma on November 12, 1920, the 9th of ten children of the late Frank & Mary Polka.
She was a 1939 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and always enjoyed sharing that her favorite classroom teacher was the great Woody Hayes. Since coming to the area from Oklahoma, Katie had been a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church.
She was very proud of her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Katie also looked forward to social get-togethers with her friends from TOPS as well as the GTE retirees group.
For more than 58 years, Katie shared her life with her loving husband, John Woodrow Murray, Sr., who died June 6.
Surviving members of the family include: two sons; John (Cheryl) Murray and Jim (Linda) Murray all of Dover; four grandchildren, Troy Murray and Carrie of Akron, Michelle Murray of Madison, Wisconsin, Tyler Murray of New Philadelphia and Tanner Murray of Columbus; two sisters, Rosemary Diem of Indiana, and Barbara Martin of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Katie was preceded in death by three brothers 'Jiggs', Carl, and Joe, as well as four siblings who died in Poland before her family came to the US.
In celebration of Katie's life, Rev. LuAnn Youngman will conduct a funeral ceremony Thursday, September 8, at 11:00 a.m. in the Winfield United Methodist Church. Interment will be beside her husband on the Murray family farm. Following the burial, family and friends will be received back at the church for a fellowship meal.

Ruby A. Littlefield, 82, of Dover, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 in Union Hospital.
Born June 28, 1922 at Newcomb, TN, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson & Carrie Nunally Artis.
She was always an active woman holding a variety of positions in area businesses over the years, but was most proud to work for Dover-Phila. Electric, a company she started with her late husband, Thomas O. Littlefield.
Ruby was a member of the St. Johns United Church of Christ at Dover.
Survivors include: two sisters, Ruth A. Wahl of Richville, Ohio and Virginia Duvall of Loveland, Ohio; six nieces and nephews, Terry (Cindy) Wahl of N. Canton, Charles (Connie) Wahl of Dover, Kathy McCartney of Phoenix, AZ, Sandra (Carl) Kaserman, Jackie (Manford) Baker and John (Judy) Duvall all of Cincinnati.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Clayton Artis.
A private ceremony celebrating Ruby's life will be held in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Interment will be in the Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton. There are no public calling hours.

Donna K. McNutt, 85, of Fostoria, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the Fostoria Community Hospital, Fostoria.
She was born in Fostoria on July 19, 1922 to the late Arthur J. and Mary Effie (Rodgers) Buck. She married
Robert H. McNutt in Fostoria on February 16, 1946, and he precedes her in death.
Surviving Donna are a Niece, Kristine A. Courtney, Fostoria; great nieces, Anne Courtney, Columbus, and Susan (Nab) Kundu, Akron; and a great nephew, Jason Courtney, Columbus. Also preceding her in death is a sister, M. Oletha Gutknecht.
Donna was a school teacher for 30 years, and a member of the Fostoria High School Alumni Class of 1940, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Seneca County Retired Teachers, and the Wesley United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Veteran's Memorial Chapel of Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, Rev. Dr. Brian Jones, officiating.
