James C. Arnett
Norwalk, Ohio - James C. Arnett, 53, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Wednesday morning, January 20, 2009 in his home. He was born June 24, 1956 in Fritz, Kentucky and lived in this area most of his life.
James was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Mt. Harvest Church of God in Milan, Ohio. He was a former employee of Lake Park Industries of Greenwich, Ohio and Industrial Powder Coating of Norwalk, Ohio. He enjoyed reading and fishing.
James is survived by his wife of 33 years, Katherine A. (Peckham) Arnett of Norwalk, Ohio, by his son, James C. Arnett II of Columbus, Ohio, by his daughter and son in law, Jennifer E. and Zach Sexton of Greenwich, Ohio and 4 grandchildren. James is also survived by his father, Lester Moore of Norwalk, Ohio, by his brother, Charles Arnett of Bellevue, Ohio and by his sisters Melissa and Martin Oney of Norwalk, Ohio, Michelle Moore of Monroeville, Ohio and by a close friend, Lona Ridgeway whom James thought of as a sister. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Moore in 2005. There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Mildred "Mid" Marie Swabley
Norwalk, Ohio - Mildred "Mid" Marie Swabley, 86, died at Fisher Titus Medical Center on Saturday, January 23, 2010 after a brief illness. Mid was born July 18, 1923 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Rolland and Heldegarde(Weyer) Schoewe.
She graduated from Sandusky High School and Secretarial College. She was an executive secretary for Durkee and then a legal secretary for Fred Waugh and later Phil and Beverly White. In 1950, she and her husband, Winfield "Win" Swabley started Swabley's Fruit Farm which served the area with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables for more than 50 years. She was past President and Treasurer of the Milan Garden Club and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed bird watching, ballroom dancing, gardening, shopping, boating, fishing, and traveling.
She is survived by her sons, Mark and Vickie Swabley of Norwalk, Ohio, John and Janet Swabley of Rocky River, Ohio and by her daughter, Joan and Steve Godin of Scottsburg, Oregon, grandchildren, Jennifer (Jay)Wenger, Troy (Laura) Pittenger, Wesley and Lauren Davis, and great grandchildren, Taylor and Parker Judy, and sister Hildegarde Huntington of Bonita Springs, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfield Francis Swabley and brother, Gene Schoewe.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Paul cemetery, South West Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Eric Mueller will officiate.

George G. Oblender
Milan, Ohio - George G. Oblender, 95, of Milan, Ohio, died Friday afternoon, December 4, 2009, in the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born September 24, 1914 in Fostoria, Ohio to the late Charles and Laura (Gross) Oblender and lived in this area most of his life.
George was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church where he had severed on several committees including the building committee. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Lodge #64 F. & A.M., Norwalk, Ohio, was a former member of the Norwalk Kiwanis Club, and was a former member of the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce. George served on the Board of Director of Huron County Easter Seals and was past president of the Huron County Humane Society. He retired in 1979 from Citizens National Bank of Norwalk where he was Vice President and Trust Officer. George enjoyed carpentry, handy work, boating, fishing, and wintering in Florida for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth L. (McPherson) Oblender of Milan, Ohio and by his son and daughter in law, Stephen T. and Betty Oblender of Milan, Ohio and 3 grandsons, Kenneth, John and Charles Oblender and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard and John Oblender. Friends may call on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. in St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Doreen M. Lortcher
Norwalk, Ohio - Doreen M. Lortcher, 76, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. She was born November 21, 1933 in Cromer, England to the late Kenneth B. and Mary E. (Reynolds) Douglas and came to the United States in 1956 from England.
Doreen was a member of Eagles Aerie #711 Auxiliary and was a former member of Queen Ester Chapter #15 of Norwalk, the Trans Atlantic Brides Parents Association and the Over the Waves Club. She worked at Kaiser Wells Drug Store for 12 years and was a care giver for the elderly retiring in 2007.
Doreen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Wayne D. Lortcher of Norwalk and by her daughter and son in law, Winsome and Douglas Sprowl of Norwalk and by her grandsons, Justin and Sherita Sprowl and Matthew Sprowl and her great grandson, Justin L. Sprowl. She is also survived by her brother, Murvyn Douglas of Bacton, England and by her sister, Pearl Elizabeth Broughton of Adlborough, England. Katherine Treiber
Willard, Ohio - Katherine Treiber, 67, of Willard, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 in the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born October 1, 1942 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Alfred and Margaret (Showler) Knoll and lived in this area most of her life.
Katherine was a bookkeeper for NASA in Sandusky, Ohio for over 30 years retiring in 1988. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading, walking, and being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Katherine in survived by her husband of 21 years, John Treiber of Willard, Ohio and by her son, Richard A. Osborn of St. Petersburg, Florida and by her daughter and son in law, Celina L. and Jon Bolding of Norwalk, Ohio. She is also survived by her step daughters and son in law, Linda Treiber and Mel Fein of Canton, Georgia, June McGory of Collins, Ohio and Diane Treiber and Paul of Tulsa, Oklahoma, by her grandchildren, Brianne, Amanda, Lindsay, Rachel, Randy, Jason, and Nick, by her brother and sister in law, David and Marilyn Knoll of North Fairfield, Ohio, and by her sister, Marjory Knoll of Norwalk, Ohio. Ethelyn S. Ross
Norwalk, Ohio - Ethelyn S. Ross, 81, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in Gaymont Nursing Center. She was born February 2, 1928 in Sandusky, Ohio and was a lifelong resident of the Milan and Norwalk area.
Ethelyn was a member of the Edison Memorial United Methodist Church in Milan, Ohio where she served on several committees in earlier years. She retired from Circon ACMI (Wappler Instrument Co.) after 27 years of service. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Ethelyn is survived by her sisters, June Milleson of Sandusky, Ohio, Patricia Candow of Mentor, Ohio and Gloria Kenne of Norwalk, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Ross in 2008 and by her brothers, Nelson, Andrew, Donald and Harry Ward and by her sisters, Elgie Burke, Matilda Aust, Dorothy LaDouceur, Marie Timman, and Eleanor Milleson. Anthony L. Nardecchia
Norwalk, Ohio - Anthony L. Nardecchia, 28, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Sunday, January 24, 2010 in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born August 29, 1981 in Norwalk, Ohio and attended St. Paul Catholic Church.
Tony was a graduate of St. Mary Elementary School and a 2000 graduate of St. Paul High School and E.H.O.V.E. Joint Vocational School. Tony attended adult education courses at E.H.O.V.E. Joint Vocational School and graduated from the University of Northwest Ohio, Lima, Ohio with an Associates Degree in Applied Science majoring in High Performance Motor Sports. He was a former employee of CRT Performance of Norwalk, Ohio and was currently employed by Mid-Ohio Field Services of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Tony was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and was an avid member of the Browns Backers Club of Huron, Ohio. He enjoyed Drag racing, hunting and spending time outdoors, traveling, working on cars, and music. Tony was also an avid Ohio State and Ohio sports fan and he especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces and his family. He is survived by his parents, Dale R. and Paula J. (Barman) Nardecchia of Norwalk, Ohio, and by his brothers, Craig J. Nardecchia and his fiance, Kalleen Sherer of Norwalk, Ohio and Robb M. Nardecchia of Baltimore, Maryland. Tony is also survived by his nieces, Akella and Ivy Nardecchia, by his paternal grandmother, Rosemary Nardecchia of Norwalk, Ohio and by his maternal grandfather, Howard Barman of Norwalk, Ohio, and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Carmalita Barman in 1990 and by his paternal grandfather, Louis Nardecchia in 1986.

Henry J. Fresch
Norwalk - Rev. Henry J. Fresch, 91, of Norwalk, Ohio died Sunday, June 6, 2010. He was born August 12, 1918 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Clem and Anna (Lombardi) Fresch.
Henry graduated from Sandusky High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII at Headquarters XVI Corps in Germany. He was a member of the Norwalk VFW. He was a welder and member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 42. At the age of 70 he earned an Associate's Degree in ministry at Zoe College. His ministries were as a volunteer at Fisher-Titus Hospital for over 20 years and a newspaper Bible Study for the Norwalk Reflector and Sandusky Register.
Henry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Amanda (Hershberger) Fresch, daughter Beverly Robbins of Sandusky, Henry D. (Mary Jo) Fresch of Dublin, Ohio, daughter Sandy (Fred) Hofer of Norwalk, son James (Marie) Fresch of Norwalk, daughter Nancy (Randy) Jones of Verona, KY; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and sisters Mary Larizza of Tequesta, FL. and Virginia Johnson of Cape Coral, FL. He is preceded in death by brothers James, Clarence, Eugene and sister, Terry Obergefell.

Edward A. Van Vlerah
Norwalk, Ohio - Edward A. Van Vlerah, 59, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Monday, October 3, 2011 in the Cleveland Clinic. He was born March 29, 1952 in Bellevue, Ohio and was a lifelong area resident. Ed was 1970 graduate of Norwalk High School and was a member of Gibson Lodge #301 F. & A.M. Wakeman, Ohio.
He retired in 2006 from Delphi in Sandusky, Ohio. Ed enjoyed building model cars, stock car racing, camping and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sandra L. (Johnston) Van Vlerah of Norwalk, Ohio, by his son, William M. Van Vlerah of Norwalk, Ohio, and by his daughters and son in law, April A. and Rich Moore of Barberton, Ohio and Kara L. Howard of Kaiserslautern, Germany. Ed is also survived by his brothers and sisters in law, Richard L. and Denise Van Vlerah of Norwalk, Ohio, Thomas A. and Melissa Van Vlerah of Antwerp, Ohio and Morris A. and Crystal Van Vlerah II of Norwalk, Ohio, and by his sisters and brother in law, Debra L. Clonch of Vickery, Ohio and Tammy L. and David Rang of Kannapolis, North Carolina. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Collin J. Moore, Kevin D. Moore, and his grandson, soon to be born, Chase Allen Howard. Ed was preceded in death by his father, Morris A. Van Vlerah and by his mother and step father, Dorothy L. and Joseph Ruffing.
