North Fairfield, Ohio - Lori L. (Sweeting) Carpenter, 39, of North Fairfield, died early Saturday morning, April 26, 2008 in her home. She was born January 7, 1969 in Willard, Ohio and was a lifelong area resident. She attended the North Fairfield United Methodist Church and was a 1987 graduate of South Central High School where she had been class president 1, 2, 3, 4, was Junior Prom Princess and Senior Prom Queen and played Basketball, Volleyball, Gymnastics, and ran cross country track and hurdles. She had been active in 4-H and Brownies and Girl Scouting. She was a 1992 graduate of Bowling Green State University. She was a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and was dedicated to helping children at risk. She was the WIA Youth Job Developer in the Success for Youth Program at EHOVE Ghrist Adult Career Center. She was a former social worker for the A.R.K. (Alternative Rescources for Kids) program. She was an Avon Representative, a Beauty Control Products Representative, enjoyed Home and Garden Parties and was an avid Cleveland Cavaliers fan. She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Michael S. Carpenter of North Fairfield and by her son, Dalton C. Carpenter, at home. She is also survived by her parents, Richard E. "Dick" and Joy M. (Montgomery) Sweeting of North Fairfield and by her brothers and sisters in law, Jeffrey L. and Jennie Sweeting of Shelby, Ohio, Mark A. and Laura Sweeting of North Fairfield and Steven S. and Sue Sweeting of North Fairfield. She was a roll model and mentor for her many nieces and nephews and the many young people whose life she touched. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. in the North Fairfield United Methodist Church, 105 West Main Street, North Fairfield where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Linda Masters will officiate. Interment will be in North Fairfield cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to North Fairfield United Methodist Church, to the EHOVE Scholarship Fund, or to the Dalton C. Carpenter College Fund.

Elizabeth M. "Betty" Ellett

Norwalk, Ohio - Elizabeth M. "Betty" Ellett, 89, of Norwalk, died Thursday evening in Norwalk Memorial Home. She was born July 15, 1918 in Enon Valley, Pennsylvania to the late Charles and Bessie (Forsythe) Dice and came to this area in 1946. She received her degree in Education from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania and taught in the local public schools for 8 years. She was a substitute teacher in Norwalk, Monroeville and Berlin Heights Local Schools. She was a member of the Norwalk First Presbyterian Church where she had been a deacon, Sunday School teacher, served on many committees and was active in the Women's, Association. She was a long time member of the Research Club and several teacher organizations. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Clarence R. Ellett of Norwalk and by her daughter, Susan Gest of Grafton, Ohio and by her sons and daughters in law, Allen and Anne Ellett of Sylvania, Ohio and Robert and Lori Ellett of Columbus, Ohio and 9 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Ebert in 2002. Friends may call on Monday, March, 17, 2008 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd. Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Adrian Doll will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Dorothy D. Belanger

Norwalk, Ohio - Dorothy D. (Spettel) Belanger, 93, of Norwalk, died late Monday evening March 17, 2008 in Fisher Titus Medical Center. She was born April 21, 1914 in Boardman, Michigan to the late Warren and Myrtle (Hoch) Dunn. She had lived in California for 50 years and returned to Norwalk in 1997 from Santa Monica, California. She attended St. Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed animals. She is survived by her son and daughter in law Dr. Robert and Maureen Spettel of Huron, Ohio, by 6 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. She is also survived by her niece, Mary Ann and Guy Karis of Sandusky Ohio and by her nephew, Gary and Anna Dunn of Sandusky, Ohio and by her sister in law, Irma Dunn of Oviedo, Florida. She was preceded in death by her brothers Darwin, Kenneth, and Robert Dunn. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Service 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Oh. 44870. Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk is in charge of arrangements.

Timothy George Smith

Norwalk, Ohio - Timothy George Smith, 14, of Norwalk, Ohio, died early Wednesday morning, March 19, 2008, in his home. He was born December 11, 1993 in Nashville, Tennessee and came to Norwalk in 2006 from Plainfield, Illinois. He was former resident of Mansfield, Ohio from 1996 to 2004. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a 7th Grade student at Norwalk Catholic School, where he enjoyed basketball and soccer. His faithful Dog, Molly, was able to comfort him in his final hours. He is survived by his parents, Jeffrey M. and Allison (Beck) Smith of Norwalk and by his brother, Bradley and sister, Emily, at home. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Dallas and Carol Smith of Rockville, Indiana and by his maternal grandfather, George Beck of Indian Wells, California and several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and classmates. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Rosemary Beck. The funeral liturgy will be Saturday, March, 22, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev David Cirata will officiate. There will be no visitation or calling hours. Eveline L. Becker

Norwalk, Ohio - Eveline L. Becker, 95, of Norwalk, died Wednesday morning, March 19, 2008 in Fisher Titus Medical Center. She was born March 3, 1913 in Wabash, Indiana to the late John W. and Ida G. (Modricker) Burke and came to this area in 1940 from Indiana. She attended Freedom Christian Missionary Church and was a former Eastern Star. She was the former co-owner of Becker's Duraclean Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning and enjoyed ballroom dancing. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Larry and Bonnie Becker of Norwalk and Rhene and Betty Becker of Clarksfield and by her daughter and son in law, Bette and Scott Sommer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, John Burke of Battle Creek, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Becker in 1973 and by her sister, Florence Burke. Jacquelyn "Jacquie" M. Meek

Norwalk, Ohio - Jacquelyn M. "Jacquie" Meek, 78, of Norwalk, died Thursday evening in her home. She was born January 24, 1930 in Bellevue, Ohio to the late Frances and Corrine (Coppus) Gildenmeister and was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of the Chapel of Sandusky and was a former volunteer and past president of the Fisher Titus Ladies Auxiliary. She and her husband wintered in the Florida Keys and Fort Myers, Florida for many years. She was the former co-owner of Meek's Bakery in Norwalk and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends enriching all of their lives. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, William "Bill" Meek of Norwalk and by her sons and daughters in law, Stephen and Jean Siesel of Willard, Gregory and Barb Siesel of Castalia, and Scott and Kathy Meek of Norwalk, and by her daughters and son in law, Vicki and Russ Holmes of Huron and Pam Meek of Norwalk, 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters in law, Charles and Jackie Ann Gildenmeister of Bellevue, Richard Gildenmeister of Cleveland, and Doug and Sue Gildenmeister of Bellevue. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Siesel. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Eagles Aerie #711 151 Cline Street, Norwalk. John M. McLarty

Norwalk, Ohio - John M. McLarty, 72, of Norwalk died Sunday morning at Lorain Community Health Partners, Lorain, Ohio. He was born January 22, 1936 in Eustis, Florida to the late John and Samanthe (Boland) McLarty and lived in the Norwalk area for 47 years. He was a member of the North Point Baptist Church of Sandusky; Marks Lodge #359, Huron; Commandeering Council, Norwalk; Scottish Rite, Norwalk; National Boilermakers Union 744, Cleveland; Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 50, Huron; Dads of the VFW, Norwalk, and the Harley Owners Group (HOG) of Monroeville. He loved to ride his Harley and was often seen around town on a bike heavily adorned with large bull horns. He also enjoyed flying his own plane and tinkering. He is survived by his son, John of Williamstown, New Jersey, his daughter Debbie (James) McLarty Hebert of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and his long time companion Marilyn Pendleton, Norwalk. He is also survived by his sister Evelyn Wade of Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth and by his sister, Georgella McLarty. Charlotte Ann (Horn) Lee

Troy, Ohio - Charlotte Ann (Horn) Lee, 67, of Troy, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, of a brief illness at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was born July 29, 1940 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Orvil "Pete" and Ernestine "Ernie" (Patch) Horn. She was a 1962 graduate of The Ohio State University School of Nursing, and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troy, Ohio. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Larry, and by her daughter Lara (Bryce) Hartman of Troy and her son Lanton L. (Lori E. Annala) Lee of Indianapolis, Indiana. She also is survived by four grandchildren, Hayden Lee Hartman, Harrison Lee Hartman, Margaret Lanette Lee, and Landry Lawrence Lee. Friends may call on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from noon until the time of service at 2:00 P.M. at North Fairfield United Methodist Church, 105 West Main Street, North Fairfield, Ohio. Mary K. "Kakie" Bleile

Norwalk, Ohio - Mary K. "Kakie" Bleile, 85, died Thursday evening at Toledo University Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. She was born August 22, 1922 in Norwalk to the late Theodore J. and Luella (Hipp) Adelman and lived her entire life in the Norwalk area. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Norwalk; the Luther Oaks Lunch Bunch; Luther Oaks Exercise Group; the Milan Ladies Card Club for 35 years; and was a Huron County poll worker for several years. She enjoyed keeping a journal for 55 years of all the happenings in Norwalk and within her family. She loved to take pictures and to travel. At age 83 she hiked the rain forest at Dominca. She also enjoyed e-mailing jokes to her family and friends; crocheting, and making afghans for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Steve) Simecek, Norwalk, and her son Jack (Margie) Bleile of Issaquah, Washington. She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Donna) Adelman, Norwalk and sister Phyllis "Foofie" Carder of Florence, Arizona and her beloved dog, Honey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob, in 1994. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 1 2008, from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. with Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 West League St. Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Lois A. Heyman

Norwalk, Ohio - Lois A. Heyman, 75, of Norwalk died Saturday morning, March 29, 2008, at home, after a three year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig) disease. She was born August 4, 1932, in Norwalk, to the late Louis V. and Anna L. (Stafford) O'Dell, and lived in the area her entire life. She was a 1950 graduate of Norwalk High School and attended Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church and was involved with the Ladies of St. Alphonsus, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Town and Country Garden Club. She worked as a secretary at Fisher-Titus Hospital for over 20 years. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, needlework, watching baseball, basketball and harness racing. She was also a season ticket holder to Toledo Hockey games for 35years. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James, sons and daughter-in-law Thomas W. (Karen) Heyman, Texas; Andrew J. Heyman, South Carolina, and daughter and son-in-law Mary Ellen (James) Hamernik, Norwalk, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen Chapdu and her daughter-in-law, Peggy Heyman. There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Settlement Road, Peru Township. Father Ken Lill will officiate. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus cemetery. Cecil Craft

Norwalk, Ohio - Cecil Craft, 90, of North Fairfield, died Friday, March 28, 2008 in Norwalk Memorial Home. He was born December 21, 1917, in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Lacy and Meldi (Ray) Craft. He moved to this area in 1941 from West Liberty, Kentucky. In order to help feed his family, he quit school in the 8th grade and went to work in the coal mines. He was also a member of the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corps, which was responsible for building roads after World War II. He retired from Westinghouse in Mansfield in 1980, and also worked as a carpenter for Bud Brady Construction Company in Norwalk. He was a member of the North Fairfield Masonic Lodge #261, and he enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He is survived by his son, Paul (Christine) Craft, Sandusky; daughter Betty (Lowell) Brown, North Fairfield; and brothers Elmer Craft, Willard; Seldon (Mary) Craft, Norwalk and by his sister Daisy (Robert) Oney, Collins; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia M. Craft, in 2005, and by his brothers, Eldon Craft, Clinton Craft and Ollie Craft. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Lizzy Craft, Tressie Arnett and Lula Wisecup. Friends may call in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, from noon until time of service at 2:00 P.M. Burial will take place in Fairfield Township cemetery, North Fairfield, Ohio. Daniel P. Neuberger

Norwalk, Ohio - Daniel P. Neuberger, 77, of Norwalk, died Monday, March 31, 2008 in Fisher Titus Medical Center. He was born September 27, 1930 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Julius C. and Nettie J. (Kemper) Neuberger and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1948 graduate of Norwalk High School. He was a former co-owner of Neuberger Brothers Well Drilling. He enjoyed music, vintage automobiles, and helping others. He is survived by his brother and sister in law, Carl G. and June Neuberger and by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Neuberger in 2005. Friends may call on Thursday, April 3, 2008 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. in Walker Funeral Home 98 West Main St. Norwalk, OH. Rev.
