Gaylord "Vic" Laser
(1915 - 2006)
WEST UNITY - Gaylord "Vic" Laser, 90, of West Unity, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center - Toledo.
Born in his present home in West Unity on Oct. 11, 1915, to Lottie Belle (Cline) and Charles Laser, he married
Dorothy May Radabaugh on June 18, 1944, and she preceded him in death on April 15, 1983.
A West Unity High School graduate, he was employed as a lineman for AT&T and Ohio Bell for 38 years, from 1942 - 1980.
He attended the West Unity United Methodist Church and was one of the founders of the West Unity Sportsman's Club.
During the 1960s and 1970s, he was the leader of the Northwest Ohio Fox Hunters. He was also a member of the Williams County Conservation, the Williams County Pheasants Forever Chapter No. 283 and the Bryan Eagles.
Surviving are two sons, Paul (and wife, Janet) Laser of Buffalo, N.Y. and James (Doris) Laser of West Unity; a daughter, Mrs. Patrick (Shirley) Sentle of Pioneer; four grandsons, Todd (Dina) Laser of Lumberton, N.J., Scott (Kim) Sentle of Montpelier, Kevin (Jennifer) Laser of Cherry Hill, N.J. and Chad (Krissy) Sentle of Glasgow, Ky.; four granddaughters, Mrs. Joseph (Lisa) Derx of Depew, N.Y., Mrs. Jay (Kris) Williams of St. Mary's, Mrs. James (Melissa) Routt of West Unity and Mrs. Mike (Heather) Navis of Holland, Mich.; a stepgrandson, Corbynn Hamrick of Montpelier; a stepgranddaughter, Candraha Hamrick of Montpelier; two great-grandsons, Austin Derx of Depew, N.Y. and Jordan Navis of Holland, Mich.; and seven great-granddaughters, Courtney Sentle of Glasgow, Ky., Marissa Williams of St. Mary's, Aalyhia Williams of St. Mary's, Jozee Sentle of Montpelier, Keyara Sentle of Glasgow, Ky., Kynlie Sentle of Glasgow, Ky. and Madisyn Routt of West Unity.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his wife, were his parents and a half brother, Boyd Laser. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 - 8 p.m. in the Hollingshead - Beck Funeral Home, West Unity. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Nick Woodall to officiate. Burial will be in the Shiffler cemetery, Bryan.
Memorials may be made to the Williams County Pheasants Forever Chapter No. 283.
William E. Head
(1921 - 2006)
FAYETTE - William E. Head, 85, of Fayette, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio - Bryan.
Born Feb. 6, 1921, in Wauseon, to Amanda (Taylor) and Clifford Head, he married
Doris A. Walker on Oct. 24, 1942, at Angola, Ind. and she survives.
A lifelong farmer, he had also retired from Fayette Tubular in 1986 with over 25 years of service. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Connie Meadows of Wauseon and Karen Lavinder of Fayette; a son, Gary (and wife, Lynda) Head of Fayette; two sisters, Kathryn Borton and Helen Huston, both of Morenci, Mich.; a brother, Clifford (Lorraine) Head of Friendswood, Texas; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Phyllis Kibbee; a brother, Stanley Head; and two sons - in - law, Carl Meadows and Jerry Lavinder.
0Visitation will be held Saturday, June 17, from 9 - 10 a.m. in the Eagle Funeral Home, Fayette. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 17, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Laura Saunders to officiate. Interment will be in Pleasant View Union cemetery, Fayette.

Betty Barnes
(1923 - 2006)
Betty Barnes, 82, of Bryan, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio - Bryan, where she had been a resident.
Born Dec. 2, 1923, at Bryan, she was the daughter of Lula (Lemon) and Franklin Davis.
An LPN at the Bryan Community Hospitals and Hillside Nursing Home until her retirement, she was an active member of the First Church of Christ, Bryan.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Marilyn) Sanders of Bryan and Mrs. Jeff (Jeanie) McCarty of Defiance; two sons, Charles (and wife, Tanya) Barnes and Thomas (Pam) Barnes, all of Bryan; a son - in - law, Jim Harrington of Seattle, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carol Ann Harrington; and a brother, Robert Davis.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 - 4 p.m. and from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Burr Funeral Home & Crematory, Bryan.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Revs. Larry Snavely and Dean Phillips to officiate. Burial will follow at the Fountain Grove cemetery, Bryan.
Memorials may be made to an agency of the donor's choice.
Warren "Bill" Mullens
(1921 - 2006)
MONTPELIER - Warren "Bill" Mullens, 85, of rural Montpelier, died early Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Park View Nursing Center, Edgerton, following an illness.
Born April 24, 1921, at Robinwood, W. Va., to Blanche (Hamrick) and Frank Mullens, he married
Lou Ann Fitzwater on Jan. 14, 1942, and she survives.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he had been in combat in Europe in both the D - Day landings in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.
He had been a West Virginia resident until he and his wife relocated in 1980 to Williams County to be near family.
A lifelong educator, he was a graduate of Glenville State College and received his master's degree from West Virginia University. He had retired as Clay County, West Virginia, Superintendent of Schools. After moving to Williams County, he was employed by the Office of Williams County Schools and had done substitute teaching in area schools.
He was a member and former deacon of the Alderson Baptist Church in Craigsville, W. Va., was an active member of the Williams County Coon Hunters Association and attended the West Eagle Creek Presbyterian Church near Montpelier.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. Duane (Beverly Jo) Burns of Edon; a granddaughter, Mrs. Vaughn (Karen) Hukill Jr. of Edon; three great-grandchildren, Gary L. Hukill of Edon, Mrs. Josh (Shawnaa) Harwell of Bryan and Mrs. Lauren (Sindy) Riggs of Defiance; four great-great-grandchildren, Blake, Derek, Alexandria and Delaney; two brothers, James F. Mullens of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Benjamin Mullens of Calvin, W. Va.; two sisters, Edna Martin of Craigsville, W. Va. and Maxine Denius of Rockford, Ill.
He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Tawee Layraman to officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Montpelier, with graveside military rites to be conducted by Montpelier Veterans Organizations.
Memorials may be made to the West Eagle Creek Presbyterian Church.
Mildred R. Bechtol

MONTPELIER - Mildred R. Bechtol, 88, of rural Montpelier, died Friday morning, June 9, 2006, at Community Hospital and Wellness Center of Williams County, Bryan, following a lingering illness.
Born June 11, 1917, at Montpelier, to Palma (Ewers) and Charles C. Henry, she was a lifelong area resident.
On June 11, 1935, she was married
to Dale S. Bechtol and he preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1980.
A homemaker, she previously had been employed with Edon Canning Company and Edon Verneer Company.
She was a member of the Montpelier Church of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Norman D. (Beatrice) Bechtol of Montpelier; a daughter, Geraldine M. Fite of Seatac, Wash.; five grandchildren, Dale (and wife, Sandy) Fite of Auburn, Wash., Dennis (Allison) Fite of Bonney Lake, Wash., Duane Fite of Federal Way, Wash., Mrs. Jerry (Deborah) Jackson of Bryan and Mrs. Tim (Peggy) Osterhout of Frederick, Okla.; four stepgrandchildren, Rod (Janiece) Stoy, Kenneth (LuAnn) Entriken and David (Janet) Custer, all of Montpelier, and Lewis (Sharron) Entriken of Pittsford, Mich.; eight great-grandchildren, Crystal Jackson of Bryan, Eric and Jennifer Osterhout of Frederick, Okla., Diane Fite of Troy, N.Y., Brian and Robin Fite of Bonney Lake, Wash. and Ashley and Jesse Fite of Auburn, Wash.; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; 13 stepgreat-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Laura Vale of Clark Lake, Mich., Elgie Bechtol of Montpelier and Harriette Carey of Bryan; a very special niece, Sue Gipple of Montpelier, and several other nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were an infant son, Ronald Bechtol, and two brothers, David Henry and an infant.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. in the Wilson - Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Dean Phillips, minister, to officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Montpelier.

Maurice Warner
(1931 - 2006)
Maurice A. Warner, 75, of Bryan, died early Thursday, June 8, 2006, at the emergency room of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers - Bryan.
Born Jan. 23, 1931, at West Unity, to Alta (Booram) and Clem C. Warner, he married
Phylis A. Page on Jan. 27, 1950, in the E.U.B. Church Parish, Bryan, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 2001.
He worked in Shipping and Receiving at Bard Manufacturing, beginning his employment there in 1971. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Bryan.
Surviving are a son, Steve (and wife, Linda) Warner of Pulaski; a daughter, Linda Collins of Casa Grande, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Chris A. Buchs and Scott M. Buchs of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Joni Warner and Geoffry Warner of Bryan; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Linford (Martha Marie) Warner of Bryan and Carl (Grace) Warner of Marblehead; a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Carolann) Folk of Bryan; and a brother - in - law, Lavern Lanzer of Napoleon.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Lanzer.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 - 4 p.m. in the Oberlin - Ford Funeral Home - Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Diane Schaffner to officiate. Burial will follow in Shiffler cemetery, Pulaski.
Memorials may be made to Williams County Special Olympics or to the Bryan Senior Center.
Harry Hutson
(1926 - 2006)
Harry Hutson, 79, of Bryan, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at the TCU of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers - Bryan.
Born June 26, 1926, at Winchester, Ind., he was the son of Josephine (Szymanski) and Harry Hutson. He married
Mildred Hutson and she preceded him in death. He then married
Berdina Mohr and she preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2003.
A veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy, he was a mail carrier for the Bryan City area for 22 years, retiring in 1986.
Surviving are close friend, Donna Stier of Bryan and her family; daughters, Sandra Bristow of Porter, Texas, Roxanne Dennis of Vancouver, Wash.; stepsons, Charles Heitzman of Okeechobee, Fla. and Stacey Heitzman of Hicksville; stepdaughters, Peggy Musser and Penny Musser of Bryan; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Harley (Blanche) Shaffer of Modoc, Ind.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Hutson and John Hutson; a sister, Frances Beals; and a stepgrandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Oberlin - Ford Funeral Home - Bryan with the Rev. Dennis Jones to officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Maple Grove cemetery, Edgerton.
Memorials may be made to the Bryan Senior Center.
