Eddy "Guter" Gutierrez, 54, of Bryan, died Friday, June 23, 2006, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
Arrangements have been entrusted to and are pending with Oberlin - Ford Funeral Home, Bryan.
Margaret "Jean" Hofferman
(1946 - 2006)
Margaret "Jean" Hofferman, 60, of Bryan, died Thursday evening, June 22, 2006, at the Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Born Jan. 7, 1946, at West Unity, she was the daughter of Harriet Virginia (Ely) and William Hector Ninian Angus.
A graduate of Hilltop High School in West Unity, she had earned her associate degree and certificate to be an x - ray technician. Her past employments were with the Wauseon and Defiance hospitals and later with Sauder Manufacturing in Archbold. She was a Christian.
Surviving are her ex - husband, DuWayne L. Hofferman of Bryan; a son, Nathan (and wife, Connie) Hofferman of Fayetteville, N.C.; two daughters, Lori Richardson of Atlanta, Ga. and Theresa Vermillion of Stryker; three grandsons, Donald, Gage and Ethan; a granddaughter, Nicole; and a great-grandson, Luke.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. in the Hollingshead - Beck Funeral Home, West Unity.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Floral Grove cemetery in West Unity.
Memorials may be made to the family.
John D. Lirot
(1923 - 2006)
EDGERTON - John D. Lirot, 83, of Edgerton, died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind., where he had been a patient for two weeks.
Born Feb. 27, 1923, in Center Township, Williams County, to Theresa M. (Stark) and Isadore J. Lirot, he married
Marilyn Smith on Aug. 6, 1945, at Florence, S.C. and she preceded him in death on March 21, 1999. He then married
Lavon Nester on Aug. 25, 2001, at Edgerton, and she survives.
Employed by Bryan Heating Supply, retiring in 1988 with 16 years of service, he had also worked at the Aro Corporation in Bryan as a machinist and had worked as an auto mechanic in the Bryan and Edgerton area.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and a member of the Bryan American Legion Post No. 284. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Mrs. Andrew (Beth) Elegeer of Bryan, Mrs. Robert (Melinda) Spragg of Edgerton, Kevin (and wife, Debra) Lirot of Huyck Lake, Mich., David (Pat) Lirot of Coldwater, Mich., Mrs. Eric (Karen) Frazer of Buffalo, N.Y.; five stepchildren, Denny (Linda) Nester of Kendallville, Ind., Kenny (Pam) Nester of Edon, Michael Nester and Mrs. Robert (Charlene) Nye, both of Edgerton, and James (Jo) Nester of Frankfort, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; three brothers, Roger (Imogene) Lirot and Alfred Lirot, both of Bryan, and Walter Lirot of Defiance; and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Pauline) Bloom of Stryker.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, five sisters and a grandson, Jamee Lirot.
Visitation will be held Sunday after 2 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with a recitation of the rosary to be held at 8 p.m.
Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Stephen Schroeder to officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary cemetery with graveside military rites to be conducted by Bryan American Legion Post No. 284.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
George "Bud" W. Brown
(1927 - 2006)
ALVORDTON - George "Bud" W. Brown, 78, of Alvordton, died Thursday morning, June 22, 2006, at his residence.
Born Dec. 2, 1927, at Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to Gladys B. (Tunks) and Walter K. Brown, he married
Angeline E. Filipov on Sept. 17, 1949, at Windsor, and she survives.
Retired in June 2005, from HRH in Bryan after 10 years of service, he had previously worked at Lake Seneca doing maintenance for six years. He had also worked on all five Great Lakes for 20 years as a seaman on various steam ships.
An Army 82nd Airborne veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Local Boilmakers Union No. 85 for five and a half years in Toledo. He attended the House of Prayer in Montpelier.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael (and wife, Holly) Brown of Elyria; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Kelly) Butler of Defiance; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne (Mary Jane) Brown of LaSalle, Ontario, Canada; and three sisters, Leola Hamil and Aileen Langloise, both of LaSalle, and Neva Schneider of Dearborn, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Joseph, in 1995.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 6, at 2 p.m. in the House of Prayer with Pastor Don Harris to officiate. Visitation will follow the service. Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier, is in charge of arrangements.

Susan Pignataro
(1947 - 2006)
Susan K. Pignataro, 59, of Bryan and formerly of Defiance, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers - Bryan.
Born Feb. 26, 1947, at Bryan, to Mary (Barr) and Frank Hoffman, she married
Tony Pignataro on Feb. 7, 1970, and he survives.
Previously employed at the Defiance County Child Support Enforcement Agency as a legal secretary, she retired in 1996.
A graduate of North Central High School in Pioneer, she was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Defiance. She was also a member of the Fountain City Corvette Club and publicist for the Pete Schlegel Fan Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Carla) Pindel of Mansfield and Mrs. Buzza (Julie) Orazio of Chicago, Ill.; a son, Andy Pignataro of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. David (Margaret) Lee of Hamilton, Ind.; two brothers, Frank (and wife, Evelyn) Hoffman Jr. of Mentor and Bill (Ladonna) Hoffman of Coldwater, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robbie Hoffman.
Visitation will be held today from 2 - 5 and 6 - 8 p.m. in the Lawson - Roessner Funeral Home with a vigil service to be held at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. John Catholic Church, Defiance, with Father Dennis Walsh to officiate. Interment will be at Riverside cemetery, Montpelier.

Richard W. Wheeler Sr.

ALVORDTON - Richard W. Wheeler Sr., 82, of Alvordton, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006 in his home.
Born in Amboy Township in Hillsdale County, Mich. on June 12, 1924 to Viola (Bondsteel) and William Wheeler, he married
Evelyn (Grant) Wheeler on Sept. 4, 1943, and she resides in Alvordton. Employed for 10 years with the CNN Railroad out of Alvordton, he helped build the Ohio Turnpike. He was employed by Hayes - Albion Manufacturing of West Unity for 25 years. He was there when the plant opened in 1955 and he retired when it closed in 1981.
He attended the New Life Temple in Bryan.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Patsy Dobson of Bryan; a son, Richard W. (and wife Deborah) Wheeler Jr. of Montpelier; 4 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his infant son, Duane Wheeler; 10 brothers, Lloyd, Floyd, Clifford, Emerson, Glen, Frankie, Donald, Clinton, Clair and Varda Wheeler; and five sisters, Velma Smith, Maire Bowerman, Mildred Hand, Vera Ries and Dorothy Ledyard.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 - 8 p.m. at the Hollingshead - Beck Funeral Home in West Unity. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Holbrook to officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery of Ranson Township in Hillsdale County, Mich. Memorials may be made to the CHWC - Hospice.
John Briganti
(1933 - 2006)
FOWLER, Mich. - John Giovanni Briganti, 72, died Sunday, June 18, 2006. Born June 25, 1933, at Bel Forte, Italy, to Giovanna (Pelligrinelli) and Giovanni Briganti, he married
Mary Ellen Wintermute, formerly of Edgerton, Ohio, on Dec. 26, 1964, and she survives. He was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Fowler, the International Graphic Arts Education Association and Pax Christi U.S.A.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, John Briganti of Wixom, Mrs. John (Marie) Peterson of Livonia, James (and wife, Yoko) Briganti of Nagasaki, Japan and David Briganti of Blacksburg, Va.; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Tony (Gemma) Tornatore; nieces, an aunt and many cousins in Italy.
A funeral mass was celebrated Thursday at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler.

Eleanor E. Cole

MONTPELIER - Eleanor E. Cole, 75, of rural Montpelier, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Community Hospital and Wellness Center of Williams County - Bryan.
Born March 1, 1931, at Coldwater, Mich., to Doris Evelyn (Amspaugh) and Dr. Earl William Shadel, she married
Ova Cole on Nov. 24, 1988, and he survives.
A homemaker, she had been a home health care aide for many years. Previously, she had been the manager of the Montpelier Certified Gas Station.
A Pioneer area resident for many years, she was a member of the Tri - State Baptist Church at Austin, Mich. For a number of years, she had been a member of the traveling gospel group "The Roving Gospel Singers."
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, David Allen Sumner of Sparling, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. William (Dorothy) Burns of Montpelier and Mrs. Emmett (Barbara) Shoemaker of Bay City, Va.; seven stepchildren, Russell (and wife, Doris) Cole of Highlands, Texas, Lawrence (Sue) Cole of Jonesville, Mich., Diane Dietz Cole of Hillsdale, Mich., Rick (Penny) Myers of Hillsdale, Mich., Linnie (Tinny) Ross of Jackson, Mich., Ron (Julie) McDonald of Lima, and Clinton (Ida) Wireman of Lima; 20 grandchildren; 37 stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; 17 stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arthur VanAken.
Preceding her in death were a husband, Denton C. Kuhn in December 1987; a stepdaughter, Jane Cole; and a stepgrandson, Darin Dietz.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Wilson - Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor John Diller to officiate. Burial will be in Floral Grove cemetery, Pioneer.

John David Miller
(1943 - 2006)
SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. - John David Miller, 63, of Sunrise Beach, Mo., died Monday evening, June 5, 2006, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City after a courageous 17 - month battle with brain cancer.
Born May 31, 1943, in Bryan, Ohio, to Lola (Maneval) and Colenzo "Bing" Miller, he married
Karen Kinsey on Aug. 5, 1967, at Tippecanoe, Ohio, and she survives.
A graduate of Bowling Green State University, he retired from the United States Air Force after serving 27 years. During that time, he flew the B - 52 and completed over 200 missions in the Vietnam War. Later he flew the FB - 111 and his final assignment was Operational Test Director for the B - 2.
After retirement he moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where he was Golf Tournament Coordinator for the Lodge of the Four Seasons and a substitute and adult education teacher for the Camdenton School District.
He was an active member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie, where he served as church trustee, lay leader and president of the Men's Group. He was also a member of the Air Force Association where he served as the Missouri State President, the Dedallions, the Bowling Green Falcon Club and the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
Among his survivors, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Melanie) Simmons of Lee's Summit, Mo.; two sons, Matthew John (and wife, Laura) Miller of Papillion, Neb. and Mark David (Anne) Miller of Kansas City, Mo.; his mother, Lola Miller of Montpelier, Ohio; a brother, Rodney (Sandy) Miller of Lady Lake, Fla.; a sister, Candace Johnson of Montpelier; two grandchildren, Brecken and Morgan Miller.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6 - 8:30 p.m. in the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Rick White to officiate. Inurnment will be at Fort Leavenworth National cemetery in Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell - Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Audrey M. Garrow

FAYETTE - Audrey Garrow, 72, of Fayette, died Monday, June 19, 2006, at the Medical University of Ohio in Toledo.
Born Sept. 23, 1933, in Sylvania, to Audrey (Smith) and David Evans, she married
Arthur Garrow on May 7, 1955, in Chesterfield Twp., and he survives.
A homemaker, musician and artist, she had been a resident of the Morenci, Mich. area for the past 51 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Larry (Carolyn) Hamman of Metamora, Anita King of Butler, Ind., Mrs. James (Kathleen) Fausey of Wauseon and Julie Garrow of Fayette; three sons, John (and wife, Laura) Garrow of Waldron, Mich., Alan (Nancy) Garrow of Lyons and Andrew (Renee) Garrow of Fayette; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marlene Beach of Toledo and Janice Been of California; and three brothers, William Evans of Texas, Roger and Jerald Evans of Delta.
She was preceded in death by hr parents and a grandson, Joshua Hamman.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Eagle Funeral Home - Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home - with the Rev. Dennis Owens to officiate.
