Logan Wayne Goodman

EDON - Logan Wayne Goodman, 16, of Edon, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at Fort Wayne, Ind., as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident at County Roads 2 and K.
Born March 16, 1990, at Bryan, he was the son of Laurie (Clevenger) and Bud A. Goodman, who survive.
He attended Edon High School where he was a member of the golf team, track team and high school band.
An honor roll student, he attended the Camden, Mich., Missionary Church where he was active as a youth group leader.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Tyler Goodman of Edon, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Wayne and Betty Clevenger, and a great-grandmother, Grace Goodman.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the George White Funeral Home, Reading, Mich. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Edon High School gymnasium, with Pastor Brian Colby and Pastor Jerry Searle to officiate. Private interment will be in the Camden cemetery, Camden, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bridgewater Community Church and Camden Missionary Church Youth programs. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Robert E. Hasselswerth

DEFIANCE - Robert E. Hasselswerth, 86, of Defiance, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at Harborside Healthcare Center, Defiance.
Born May 4, 1920, at Defiance, to Cora (Ankney) and Roy Hasselswerth, he married
Sonora A. Tatman on May 31, 1942, and she survives.
An Army veteran, having served during World War II, he was a set up man at Zeller Corp. from 1946 until his retirement in 1982. He had also worked at Compo Corp.
He attended Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member of Amvets Post 1991 of Defiance and American Legion Post 117 of Defiance. He was a former member of the Eagles. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons, Robert John Hasselswerth of Fremont, Ind., Harley Hasselswerth of Defiance and Daniel Hasselswerth of Defiance; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Evelyn) Schlachter of Defiance; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Irene Forman of Defiance.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Roy Bauer.
Visitation will be today from 4 - 9 p.m. in the Mast - Mock - Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Joe Chrisman to officiate. Interment will be in Riverview Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Harborside Healthcare Activities Fund or to the donors choice.
Richard L. Bruot
(1920 - 2006)
STRYKER - Richard L. Bruot, 86, of the Stryker - West Unity area, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at Hillside Country Living near Bryan.
Born June 6, 1920, near Stryker, to Hazel (Cramer) and Louis Bruot, he married
Alberta Glanz and she survives.
A 1938 graduate of Stryker High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and spent most of the time at air bases in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Patuxent River Naval Air Base in Maryland. He was part of the crews doing routine inspections and parts replacement on the Douglas cargo planes.
After his discharge in November 1945, he spent almost 40 years in auto body repair, working at Short's Chevrolet in West Unity and Christy Motors in Archbold.
He was a baptized and confirmed member of the First Lutheran Church in Stryker. Also, he was a member of the County II Bowling League, the Stryker Sportsmens Club and the American Legion. In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by a son, Richard (and wife, Dee) Bruot Jr. of Johannesburg, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Stan (Mary) Manus of East Windsor, N.J., and Beth Bruot (and fiancˇ, Tom Greulich) of Vermillion; three grandsons, Aaron and Adam Manus of New Jersey and Kyle Bruot of Marquette, Mich.; a sister, Pauline Roan Oxender of Bryan; a sister - in - law, Orpha Robinson of Stryker; a brother - in - law, Eldin (Lillian) Glanz of Lumsden, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private and there will be no visitation. Interment will be in the Shiffler cemetery, near Bryan. Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests acts of kindness freely given to others.
Frank E. Rethmel
(1920 - 2006)
Frank E. Rethmel, 85, of rural Defiance, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, in his home.
Born Nov. 11, 1920, near Evansport to Mary (Gares) and Wade Rethmel, he was married
to Amy Eileen Foust Auman on June 13, 1954, and she preceded him in death in 1988.
A Navy Veteran of World War II, he received his B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from The Ohio State University. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Defiance, the F&AM Lodge 179 in West Unity, the Defiance County Farm Bureau, the Defiance VFW Post #3360, the Defiance Lions Club, and was a former Defiance County School Board member.
Surviving are four sons, Rodney (and wife Norine) Rethmel, Rodger (Pat) Rethmel, Ronald (Cheryl) Rethmel, and Roy (Vicki) Rethmel, all of Defiance; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Rethmel; two sisters, Agnes Lentz and Helen Hoskinson; and one granddaughter, Ashley.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2 - 8 p.m., in the Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, with Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Grisier Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Evansport cemetery.

Wallace B. Force, Jr.

Wallace B. Force, Jr., 73, of Wabash, Ind., died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Born Dec. 14, 1932, in San Francisco, Calif., to Florence M. (Rohrabaugh) and Wallace B. Force, Sr., he married
Dorothy E. "Dottie" Haase on Sept. 26, 1959 in Angola, Ind. and she survives. A graduate of Berea High School, he received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tri - State University and a degree in electronics technology from Cleveland Institute of Electronics. A member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, he lived in Bryan for 21 years, and worked at The Ohio Art Company and MENCO before taking a job in 1977 as Chief Engineer at Diehl Machines in Wabash, Ind. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Wabash.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Bill (and wife Deb) Daugherty of Bryan; three daughters, Mrs. Mark (Jana) Melton, Mrs. Tim (Tami) Lane, and Lisa Tyson, all of Wabash, Ind.; a sister, Lyn Hill of Berea; and nine grandchildren, David Daugherty of Defiance, Mrs. Greg (Annie) Sims of Bryan, Christi Melton of Urbana, Ind., and Jennifer Lane, Greg Lane, Megan Lane, Jonathon Tyson, Wendy Lane, and Mrs. Austin (Dawn) Johnson, all of Wabash, Ind.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at Grandstaff - Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, Ind., as well as one hour prior to the funeral services. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1500 S. Wabash St., Wabash, Ind., with Pastor Kerri McFarland officiating. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran cemetery, Ney, with Pastor Richard Buchsteiner officiating. HAMILTON, Ind. - Ted A. Smith, 85, of Hamilton and formerly of Edon, Ohio, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at the Dilworth Center, Montpelier, Ohio.

DEFIANCE - Daniel B. Wink, 61, of Defiance, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006. Born June 12, 1945, at Defiance, to Connie (Blake) and Dale Wink, he married
Connie Ball in 1969, and she survives.
An Army veteran, having served in Vietnam, he had retired as an electrician at GM Powertrain. He was a member of the NRA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Daniel (and wife, Jennifer) Wink of Defiance; one grandchild; four brothers, Charles Wink of Missouri, Andrew (Joan) Grahn of Holgate, David (Betsy) Grahn of Napoleon and James Grahn of Stryker; and a sister, Mrs. Larry (Denise) Sullivan of Stryker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Ernest Grahn.
Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. in the Mast - Mock - Hoffman Funeral Home. Services will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Hacker to officiate.

Edna Irene Phillips, 87, of Bryan, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan.
Born Dec. 31, 1918, at Bryan, to Elsie Mae (Byers) and Arthur R. Smith, she married
Max Phillips on Sept. 28, 1940, and he preceded her in death.
A dietary technician for Bryan hospital (Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers), she was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Shamrock Circle.
Surviving are a son, Michael (and wife, Suzanne) Phillips of Bloomington, Ind.; two daughters, Marcia West of Elyria and Mrs. Mike (Mary) LaMantia of Bryan; a sister, Beulah Wineland of Bryan; a son - in - law, Bruce Wetmore of Moscow, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Aimee, Laura and Bryan Wetmore of Moscow, Ohio.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jane Phillips Wetmore; a son John Phillips; a brother, Willard Smith; and a son - in - law, James West. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. with a Scripture service at 8 p.m. in the Burr Funeral Home, Bryan.
A funeral mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Charles Ritter to officiate. Burial will take place at Shiffler cemetery at a later date.
