Mary Frances Brown

CAMDEN, Mich. - Mary Frances Brown, 87, of Camden, Mich., died December 19, 2008. She owned and operated Stylette Beauty Shop.
The widow of James Lynwood Brown, she is survived by daughter Lynette (Robert) Tom, Montpelier; son Larry 'Doc' (Sheryl) Brown, Camden, Mich.; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fairlawn Chapel, Archbold. Visitation 3 - 8 p.m. Monday at Short Funeral Home, Archbold, Ohio.

Ida M. Reif
(1922 - 2008)

EDGERTON - Ida M. Reif, age 86, of Edgerton, Ohio, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville, Ohio. Mrs. Reif was a meat processor and had worked at Edgerton Locker for thirty years. She was also a long - time care giver and seamstress. Ida M. Reif was born August 9, 1922, in Venice, Illinois, the daughter of Edward Vincent and Hazel (Andrews) Tighe. She married John A. Reif on March 12, 1948, in Pocohantus, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death in 1974.
Surviving are her niece, Lee Ann Abbruzzese of Bryan, Ohio her nephew, Pat (Teresa) Allen of Edgerton, Ohio, and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
There will be no visitation or services.
Memorials in the name of Ida M. Reif may be given to the Edgerton Senior Center.
Krill Funeral Service, 114 E. Hull St., Edgerton, Ohio is in charge of arrangements.

Donald W. Smith
(1934 - 2008)

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Donald W. Smith, age 74, died Monday, December 8, 2008, at the Veteran's Hospital, Palo Alto, Calif. Don was the son of William and Sarah Smith. His older brother was James Smith and younger sister Susan Crayne.
Don died peacefully surrounded by his children, Anna Smith of San Jose, Calif., Daniel Smith of Tokyo, Japan, Matthew Smith of Maui, Hawaii, and Mary Smith of Palo Alto, Calif.
Don had four grandchildren whom he loved very much, and they adored him: Danae Smith, Ryan Smith, Alex Smith and Max Smith.
Don graduated Bryan High School in 1952; Served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict; Graduated Bowling Green 1959; and attended Ohio State University obtaining a Masters in Economics.
He moved to San Jose, California in 1974. He worked in sales and traveled extensively. He retired in 1993 after suffering a stroke.
Don loved football - especially Ohio State football games and was an avid fisherman.
He had a keen sense of humor, was very kind, and and the most excellent Dad and Grandfather.
He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
His ashes will be spread in the San Francisco Bay.
As he would often say, "Be good to yourself."

Jeanette Wanda Royal
(1924 - 2008)

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. - Jeanette W. Royal, 84 years, of Morristown, Tennessee, and a former resident of Bryan, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Morristown Hamblen Hospital. Jeanette was born on March 31, 1924 in Rock Creek, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Stella (Gargas) Witek. She married Ronald J. Royal in July 1945 in Norfolk, Virginia and he preceded her in death on September 13, 1971. Jeanette was the owner of Royal Stylecraft Salon in Bryan for 28 years, retiring in 1992.
Surviving are her three daughters, Nancy (David) Nulf, Syracuse, Indiana, Shelley (Steven) O'Daniel of Morristown, Tennessee and Ronnie DeVault of Springfield, Tennessee; four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sister, Josephine Brown of Geneva, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two grandchildren, one step-grandchild and one step-great-great grandchild.
Graveside services for Jeanette W. Royal will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2008 in Maple Grove cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio with Pastor Larry Snavely, officiating. Local arrangements are entrusted to Oberlin - Ford Funeral Home, Bryan, Ohio.
Memorials in the name of Jeanette W. Royal may be given to the Disabled American Veterans Post No. 54, Bryan, Ohio or to the Paralyzed American Veterans.

Merlin Baumgartner
(1926 - 2008)

ARCHBOLD - Merlin Baumgartner, 82, of Archbold, died early Wednesday December 17, 2008 at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.
Miss Baumgartner was born on April 22, 1926 in Wauseon, Ohio the daughter of the late Roland and the late Fern (Stump) Baumgartner. She attended elementary schools in Pettisville and Pike Township Fulton County and graduated from Delta High School in 1944. Following two years at Bowling Green State University she was in civil service at Wright - Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. Before entering the Air Force she was employed at the Detwiler Hospital in Wauseon. Following her Air Force service she was a Public School teacher for many years.
Surviving is brother, John (Mary Ann) Baumgartner; nephew, David (Riham) Baumgartner; great-niece Lana R. Baumgartner and great-nephew Ryan D. Baumgartner. Also surviving are many friends
. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2008, at the Fairlawn Chapel with Pastor David David officiating. Friends may call at the Fairlawn Chapel on Monday from 12 p.m. until service time. The Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold is in charge of arrangements.

Herbert William Ringenberg
(1914 - 2008)

HICKSVILLE - Herbert William Ringenberg, 94, died on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Hickory Creek at Hicksville.
He was born on July 23, 1914 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Gideon Arthur and Jessie (King) Ringenberg.
He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Seslar on March 20, 1942 at Pioneer, Ohio - celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary in 2008.
He was a graduate of Hicksville High School with the class of 1932.
He was a lifelong farmer; a member of North Scipio United Methodist Church Ð Harlan, Indiana; Farm Bureau Council; Board Member of Hicksville Grain Company; and enjoyed wintering in Leesburg, Florida for 16 years.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen; two daughters: Janis (Marv) Edwards Ð Hicksville and Cheryl (Charles) Unger Ð Harlan, Indiana; a son: Bruce (Martha) Ð Hicksville; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister Mabel Albertson.
Funeral services will be on Monday at 11:00 at North Scipio United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Schreffler officiating with visitation after 10:00. Visitation also on Sunday from 2:00 Ð 4:00 and 6:00 Ð 8:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home of Hicksville.
Burial will be at Scipio cemetery Ð Harlan, Indiana.
Preferred memorials to Crippled Children & Adult Society or the church.

Larry L. 'Buck' Knoll

MONTPELIER - Larry L. "Buck" Knoll, 68, of Montpelier, died Sunday, December 7, 2008. Mr. Knoll retired as an Electrician from General Motors in Defiance. He is survived by his wife, Carol of Montpelier and sons Kyle and Chad Knoll.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 20, at the UAW Union Hall in Defiance. Visitation will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. with services at 3 p.m. Rev. Ted Ramey will officiate.

Corrin Margaret Beatty
(1940 - 2008)

WEST UNITY - Corrin Margaret Beatty, age 68, of rural West Unity, Ohio, departed this life on December 17, 2008 and will share in the real joy of Christmas with her Lord and Savior. She was born on November 3, 1940 in Lansing, Mich. the daughter of the late Arthur and Wilma Myers.
She married George Lewis Beatty on July 26, 1958, and he survives. They are the parents of George Kevin (Tina) Beatty, Rhonda (Stuart) Throne, Jane (Richard) Lesniak, all of West Unity, and Sari (Harold) Brown of Cookeville, Tenn., and grandmother of Kristen (Tim) Kerr, George Brian (Brianna) Beatty, Stephanie and Jason Throne, Jenna and Morgan McCandless, Cole and Zachary Brown, and one great-grandchild, Elijah Curtiss Kerr, three sisters, Carolyn Terrill of Lansing, Mich., Sherrill Stehlik of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Karen Kruithoff of Holland, Mich.
Visitation will be on Friday December 19, 2008 at the Orr Funeral Home in West Unity from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Solid Rock Community Church in West Unity, Ohio, on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mike Beasley officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Grove cemetery, West Unity.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Williams County.

Mary Ann Krontz

WEST UNITY - Mary Ann Krontz, 66, Evergreen Manor, Montpelier, died late Monday at Bryan Community Hospitals, Bryan. She was born September 1, 1942, Kendallville, Ind., to Denton William and Mary Frances (Allen) Krontz.
Surviving are two brothers, Denton William Krontz Jr. (Wife - Mary Sue), Bryan, and John Thrailkill, Montpelier.
Cremation will take place with burial at a later date in Floral Grove cemetery, West Unity.
Orr Funeral Home, West Unity, is handling arrangements.

Gregory Lee Miller
(1958 - 2008)

Gregory Lee Miller, 50, of Bryan, died early Sunday morning at his home. Greg was born February 3, 1958, in Montpelier to Eldred Eugene Miller and Linda K. (Gleason) Miller. Greg attended Montpelier High School and then went into the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Little Rock during peacetime. He then became involved in the construction business and most recently worked at Global Suspension in Bryan. He was a member of the F.O.E in Bryan and a lifetime member of the Bryan Am Vets post 54.
Greg is survived by his mother, Linda, and her husband, Hubert East of Dunnellon, Fla.; one son, Benjamin L. Miller of Montpelier; one brother, Bradley E. Miller of Montpelier; two sisters, Tracey L. Miller of Liberty, N.C. and Valerie and Alan Lam of Pioneer, Ohio; one niece, Lauren Miller; three nephews, Kyle Miller, Nicholas and Nathan Lam.
He is preceded by his father and stepmother, Evelyn Miller.
The family will receive friends at the Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier, on Thursday, December 18, 2008 from 3 - 7 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. with Reverend Michael Raypholtz to officiate. Interment services will be Friday with Reverend Dee Dean - Wentz at Maple Grove cemetery in Edgerton, Ohio at 1 p.m. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Bryan Am Vets post No. 54. Donations in memory of Greg can be made to the family in care of the Thompson Funeral Home.

George Russell
(1917 - 2008)

PIONEER - George Russell, 91 years, of Pioneer, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 in the residence of his great-niece in Camden, Michigan. He was born on December 10, 1917, in Bryan, Ohio the son of John and Niagara (Newcomer) Russell. A lifelong resident of Williams County, George operated Russell's Mill (now on display and operating at the Lenawee County Fair) in Bryan, Ohio with his father until 1940 and then purchased a farm in Pioneer where he farmed, operated a sawmill and performed equipment repair for area farmers for over 50 years.
Surviving are his sisters, Alice Reinbolt of Hudson, Michigan, Ruth Whiton of Wanchese, North Carolina and Mary Strough of Palalka, Florida. He will be missed by his numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for George Russell will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2008 at Brown cemetery, Bryan with Pastor Larry Snavely, officiating. There will be no visitation. Professional services have been entrusted to Oberlin - Ford Funeral Home, Bryan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in the name of George Russell may be given to Hospice of Hillsdale County.

Harold D. Harmon
(1924 - 2008)

Harold D. Harmon, age 83, of Bryan, passed away Monday, December 15, 2008 at the Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bryan. Mr. Harmon was a bridge carpenter, supervisor and an inspector for the New York Central and Conrail railroads.
Born December 25, 1924, in Danbury, Ohio, he was the son of Francis and DeEtta (Rose) Harmon. On March 16, 1946 he married Mary Lou (Rinkel) in Bryan, Ohio and she survives in Bryan. Surviving besides his wife is his son, Thomas D. and wife Diane Harmon of Findlay; daughter, Dee Ann and husband Marty Cox of Bryan; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceding Mr. Harmon in death were his parents; a brother, Paul J. Harmon; and a sister, Delores McBride.
A memorial service for Harold D. Harmon will be held on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 4 p.m. with visitation from 2 - 4 p.m. prior to the service at the Burr Funeral Home & Crematory in Bryan.
Gifts in loving memory of Harold D. Harmon may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
