Gary L. Braund
Gary L. Braund, 68 of Findlay died at 7:35 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Bridge Hospice Care Center. He was born in Moline, IL. on April 30, 1943, to Irvin and Bertha Mae (Flagg) Braund. His father survives in Mauston, WI. Gary served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On March 1, 1981, he married
Jeanne Hinkle and she survives. He is also survived by three daughters; Pam (Ted) Bibler of Fostoria, Pat (Steve) True of Arcadia, Tammy (Andy) Boyce of Carey, sister Erna Wagner of Sparta, WI., nine grandchildren: Dustin, Wesley, Mason, Dylan, Chelsea, Daniela, Maddie, Jacob and Aidan, one niece, Tracy (Jason) Goin and three nephews: Chad, Todd and Troy Wagner. Gary dedicated 25 years to the Findlay Fire Department where he served diligently as the Arson Investigator and Fire Prevention officer. Gary's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and was a avid Packer's fan. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2011, at the Upper Room Church of God, 520 W. Bigelow Ave, Findlay. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, where the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Terry McBeath will officiate and burial will follow in Knollcrest cemetery, east of Findlay where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. The family would like to thank the ICU and Hospice nurses at Blanchard Valley Hospital for the care they showed Gary. Robert Allen Sterling
Robert Allen Sterling, 72, of Findlay passed away at 10:09 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Fox Run Manor, Findlay. Robert was born on April 10, 1939, to the late John Donald and Kathryn (Newlove) Sterling in Bowling Green, OH. Robert is survived by sons: Rodney Sterling of Findlay and Jamie Sterling of Biloxi, MS; daughters: Donita and Paula Sterling of Biloxi, MS and Vicki Sterling of Mobile, AL; sisters: Janet Hayes of Erie, KS, Lois Pendleton of Findlay, Mary (Jim) Washburn of Mt. Dora, FL, Donna Neer of Findlay and Teri Tuggle of Mt. Dora, FL; and by 10 grandchildren. Robert worked in farming most of his life, was a former member of the Moose, and enjoyed wood working, gardening, and was a collector of cans. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay. All services entrusted to COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Beverly McClory
Beverly McClory, 64, of Findlay, died at 2:50 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2011, at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born on May 26, 1947 in Kansas, OH to the late Harry Houston and Ruth V. (Sachrider) McClory. She married
Butch Hammer on September 11, 2006, and he survives. Also surviving is a son, Mark (Courtney) Weiker of Columbus; daughters: Michelle (Tom) Keating of Fremont, Lindsay (Brent) Denny of Sylvania and Joy (Bill) Gallagher of Avon Lake; grandchildren: Shelby and Parker Keating, Zachary and Zoe Denny, Connor, Grace and Sean Gallagher, and Kennedy Weiker. Beverly was retired from Honeywell and a member of the Upper Room Church of God. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2011, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky Street, Findlay, with Bishop Terry McBeath officiating. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, in Sand Ridge cemetery, Bascom, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Mildred "Millie" Rose
Mildred "Millie" Rose, age 79, of Findlay, died at 3:10am on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 at Fox Run Manor in Findlay. She was born on March 4, 1932 in Salyersville, Kentucky. She married
Al Rose on October 21, 1956 and he survives. Also surviving is a brother: Dan (Cindy) Roark of Carey. Preceding her in death were two brothers: Alben Wayne "AW" Roark and Hager Roark as well as two sisters: Jean (Robert) Hower and Betty McGetrick. Millie was the owner of Millie Rose Flowers in Findlay. She had been a partner of Al Rose Pawn Broker Inc. in Findlay. She was a founding member of the Altrusa Club in Findlay. Millie had been a member of the Findlay Women's Garden Club. She had attended the University of Findlay and had worked at Ohio Bell and had been the vice president of Rose Cycle Shop. She loved to golf and travel and was a judge for the National Floral Design Group and personally competed nationally with her floral arrangements. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Friday at the COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00am with visitation from 9-10am prior to the services. Pastor Mike Spann will officiate and interment will follow at Knollcrest cemetery, east of Findlay. Memorials may be made to the Altrusa Club in Findlay.
Ralph P. Hempfling
Ralph P. Hempfling, 76, of Findlay, passed away at 11:00 pm, Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at his residence. He was born on March 16, 1935 in Delphos to the late Oscar J. and Marcella A. (Rahrig) Hempfling. He married
Rosalie A. Luthman on May 28, 1960 and she survives. Ralph is also survived by sons: Jeffrey L. Hempfling of Midland, MI and Craig A. (Ivana) of Serbia; a daughter, Anita L. (Mark) Frena of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren: Jordan, Ariana and Luna Hempfling; Victoria, Catherine and Christine Frena; a brother, Robert (Bobby) Hempfling of Coldwater; and sisters: Alice (Walter) Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Angela Schroeder of Bluffton, and Velma Kill of Lima. Ralph was retired as a computer engineer for IBM. He did a lot of volunteer work for the community, St. Michael Parish and School, Humane Society, Senior Citizen Center and American Cancer Society. Visitation will be from 1:00-5:00 pm, Sunday, September 25, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, September 26, 2011 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (East) with Rev. Msgr. Michael Hohenbrink, Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Michael cemetery, Findlay. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Hancock County Memorial Squad. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00pm Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Parish, Bridge Home Health & Hospice and/or Cancer Patient Services.
Pying Soon Kim
Pying Soon Kim, 73, of Findlay, went to be with the Lord at 9:06 pm, Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She was born on December 1, 1937 in South Korea to Sang Yah Chu. She married
Kyung Hum Park, and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2001. She is survived by her sons: Young Joon Park and Young Kun Park; and five grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 23, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Jung Un Park, officiating. Visitation will be one hour (12:00-1:00 pm) prior to service. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Branchville cemetery in Frankford, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Korean United Methodist Church and/or Blanchard Valley Hospital.
Henry Lee Ford
Henry Lee Ford, 84, of Findlay died at 11:25 PM Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Birchaven Village. He was born in Olney, IL to the late Rev. Toney Sin and Julia (Duncan) Ford on Jan. 20, 1927. He married
Phyllis Caudill on April 7, 1951 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. He is survived by four children, Cheri (Charles) Phillips of Kimberling City, MO; Christine (George) Telthorst of Bloomington, IN; Cinda Ford of Houston, TX; and Patrick Ford of Olney, IL; grandchildren, Amanda; Lindsey; Laura; Meg; Julia and Cameron and one great-grandson, Dylan. He was preceded in death by six brothers, David; Matthias; William; Floyd; Calvin and James and three sisters, Hazel; Margaret; and Sarah. Henry was a graduate of Indiana University and received his MBA from Bowling Green State University. He retired from Marathon Petroleum Company. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, and spent many hours contributing to others. He also enjoyed outside work (he was a Master Gardener), traveling, cars, square dancing and poetry. Henry was a tennis enthusiast and loved to share his love of tennis with his wife and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 29, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Dan Hrach officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM Wednesday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME and one hour prior to the service (10-11:00 AM) Thursday at the church. Danielle Nicole Robinson Donoho
Danielle Nicole Robinson Donoho, 29, of Findlay, "went to be with her heavenly Father," Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at her residence. She was born on March 20, 1982 to Paul and Bambi (Robinson) Cramer in Findlay. They both survive her. She married
Evan Donoho on March 27, 2010 and he survives. Danielle is also survived by a son, Tyler Robinson and a daughter, Kelsey Saldana both at home. Also surviving are her paternal grandparents, George and Norma Jean Cramer of Tiffin. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Peggy Ersley and maternal grandfather, Pete Robinson. Danielle was a 2000 graduate of Findlay High School, 2007 graduate of The University of Findlay, and received her degree in Early Childhood Development. She worked for Scrambler Marie's. She enjoyed attending her children's sports and reading. Danielle's children were the light of her life; her loving spirit and personality will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the funeral home, Pastor Craig Cramer officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay. Carl J. Bauman
Carl J. Bauman, age 83, of Findlay, was surrounded by his family as he went to be with his Lord, at 3:50pm on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. He was born on May 31, 1928 in Rawson, Ohio to the late Carl and Nora (Hartman) Bauman. On December 10, 1949, he married
Mary Lou Beagle and she preceded him in death on August 15, 2010. On February 12, 2011, he married
Mary Ellen Dayringer and she survives. He is also survived by two sons: Greg Bauman of Huron, Ohio and Tim (Marci) Bauman of Sylvania, Ohio. He has a stepson: Jeff Clemans of Indian Lake, Ohio as well as a stepdaughter: Cathy (Frank) Mramor of Whitehouse, Ohio. He also has a sister; Sharon (Keith) Hamilton of Bluffton. Carl has a granddaughter: Ariana Bauman and 6 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren. Carl was retired as an insurance agent for Allstate Insurance in Fostoria. He was a member of the Salem Cass United Methodist Church. He belonged to the North Baltimore Masonic Lodge, the High Twelve, the Zenobia Shrine, Findlay Clowns, Scottish and York Rites, the Kentucky Colonels He served his country in the army and was a member of the Findlay Amvets. Carl was involved with many charitable works with the Masons and had been the President of several charitable organizations. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011, from 1-3pm at the Salem Cass United Methodist Church, 4699 CR 236, Findlay, Ohio with the funeral service at the church at 3:00pm on Sunday. Pastor Ray Kane will officiate and burial will follow at Weaver cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his memory to either the Salem Cass United Methodist Church or to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children and Burns Institute, 8048 Broadston Blvd., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. Dorothy J. Shanks
Dorothy Jean Shanks, 87, of Findlay, Ohio passed away on September 28, 2011 after losing her battle with cancer. She was born September 16, 1924 in Hicksville, Ohio to the late Ira K. and Elva L. (Hilbert) Hook. She was a graduate from St. Joe, Indiana High School as valedictorian in 1942 and graduated from International Business College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana with a secretarial degree in 1943. Dorothy married
Carroll R. Shanks on June 3, 1944; he preceded her in death on December 20, 2001. Dorothy is survived by one son, Gary (Margaret) Shanks, Lynchburg, Virginia; three daughters, Sue Dorsey Montenyohl, Findlay, Ohio; Janet (Dean) Adler, Findlay, Ohio; Debra (Gary) Husen, Cherryville, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Stephen Dorsey, Scott Dorsey, Erin Grissom, Andrew Shanks, Abigail Olsen, Matthew Adler, Mark Adler, Jeff Adler, Kristen Husen; four great-grandchildren, Julienne and Evangeline Shanks, Joshua and Kevin Adler; two step-great-grandchildren, Christie and Kenny Vernon. She is also survived by two brothers, Wayne (Loretta) Hook, Knoxville, Tennessee; Vance (Lois) Hook, Harlan, Indiana; two sisters, Leitha Evans, Ocala, Florida; Eloise Cook, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Dorothy retired from the City Auditor's Office in 1987. She served as president and secretary of the local chapter of the Public Employee Retirees, Inc. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and the Ladies Shrine. Dorothy had been a volunteer with the Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary since 1989. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church since 1954; a member of the Crusader Sunday School Class and Martha Circle. She served on the Church Administrative Council; was president and secretary of the Sunday School Class. Dorothy was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering in the Church Library since 2002. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Findlay, Ohio. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to the service from 12:00-1:00. Reverend Mark S. Hollinger will officiate and burial will follow in Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay.
Walter James Saum
Walter (Walt) James Saum, age 66, of Findlay, Ohio passed away Thursday morning, September 29th in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 15, 1945, to Matthew and Kathryn (LaRoche) Saum in Findlay, Ohio, who along with a brother, David (Fred), preceded him in death. Walt served in the U.S. Air Force and the Army National Guard. He retired from the Findlay Police Department in 1995 after 28 years of service. He then managed Al Rose Pawn Shop for 10 years. Walt twice held the position of Exalted Ruler of B.P.O.E. #75 of Findlay, Ohio. He was also a member of the AMVETS and MOOSE. He loved fishing and goose hunting with his dad and brothers. Walt is survived by: his loving wife, Kathie and brother, Ron (Margo) of Gilbert, Arizona; children: Michelle Gaietto, Matt (Jackie) of Tiffin, Jason and Erica of Findlay, Ally King of Findlay and Dennis Shaw of Camden, Tennessee; grandchildren: Drew, Zack, Josh, Corbyn, Mason, Clara, Kaity, Curri, Dennis, Sydney, Jake, Brenna, Andon, and Ashton. He was very much loved by his many nieces and nephews. Walt was an avid "garage saler, horse trader and wheeler dealer." Throughout his years he made numerous lifelong friends and gained the respect of many. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2011, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, where there will be a F.O.P. Service, an Elks Funeral Ritual and full military rites which will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. Pastor David Clark officiating. The family will receive friends 2 hours (3:00-5:00 p.m.) prior to the service Monday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Following the funeral services there will be a celebration of Walt's life at the Elks B.P.O.E #75 downstairs, Findlay. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Walt's memory be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice.
Larry Dean Lauger
Larry Dean Lauger, Sr., 72, of Findlay, passed away at 3:36 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2011 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born on July 30, 1939 to the late Edwin and Maude (Schilling) Lauger in New Philadelphia, OH. He married
Peggy Joyce (Wilburn) Widunas and they later divorced. Larry married
Loralye (Hartman) Ramm on April 7, 1980 and she survives. Larry is also survived by a son, Larry D. (Rebecca S. Scasny) Lauger, Jr. of Findlay; a daughter, Laurie (Lauger) (Andrew D.) Smith of Troy; step-children: Sue (Brad) Purdy, Bud (Terri) Ramm, Fred (Roxie) Ramm and Tom (Tia) Ramm; grandchildren: Casey M. Lauger, Bridgett A. Lauger, Larry D. Lauger, III, Lindsay N. Smith and Jaclyn P. Smith; nine step grandchildren; eleven step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Stewart of Lansing, IL. Larry was preceded in death by siblings: Betty Lauger, Chester Lauger, Evelyn Phillips, Irene Doidge, Trudy Wilson, Mary McKinney and Bonnie Bloom. Larry was a member of College First Church of God, Elk's Club, Findlay Shrine Club, Masonic Temple, American Legion, Kiwanis, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Hancock County Republican Party and Findlay Clowns. He graduated from Chesterton High School in Chesterton, IN. Larry was a sales executive for the Toledo Blade, previously owned Dairy Queen and owner of Lauger's Carpet One. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2011 at the funeral home combined with a Masonic Service. Pastor Will Miller will officiate.
