Charles F. Morris, 80, formerly of Geyer, OH, died 7:00 a.m., Wed. July 4, 2007, at Auglaize Acres. He was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Cridersville, the son of Melvin & Cora (Kies) Morris. His parents and step-mother, Helen Huebner, preceded him in death. On June 5, 1950, he married
Dorothy M. Lauer, and she died Dec. 13, 2001.
Survivors include, 8 children, Cora (Phillip) Jarrells, Melvin (Daine) Morris, James (Sheila) Morris, all of Wapakoneta, Violet (Rick) Pease, Tonasket, WA, Mary (Lundy Travis) Morris, Springfield, OH, Ina Pratt, Geyer, OH, Marie (David) Shellenberg, Wapakoneta, Arno Morris, Wapakoneta, 22 grandchildren & 31 great grandchildren, 5 ½ sisters, Carol (Don) Brown, Springfield, OH, Rose Gossard, TN, Lily (John) Young, Wapakoneta, Goldie Stevens, Wapakoneta, Elizabeth Harshbarger, Lima, 6 ½ brothers, Henry Morris & Charles E. Morris, Wapakoneta, Albert (Pam) Morris, Waynesfield, OH, Venard (Linda) Morris, St. Johns, OH, Wilbur Morris, Celina, Harold Morris, TN. He was preceded in death by a ½ brother, Melvin Morris.
Mr. Morris retired in 1990 from Ametek Westchester Plastics, Wapakoneta. He was also partner of the Morris Auto Salvage. He was a W.W. II veteran with the U.S. Army, having served in the South Pacific Theater. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 9289, St. Marys, OH. He enjoyed traveling.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Sat., July 8, 2007, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, Pastor Kevin doseck officiating. Burial is to follow in the Mt. Tabor cemetery, Gutman, OH, where military rites will be conducted. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Fri., at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Francis N. Harrod

Francis N. Harrod, 81, of Wapakoneta, died 4:12 a.m., Thurs., July 5, 2007, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minster. He was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Waynesfield, OH, the son of Marvin & Jane (Horn) Harrod, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 26, 1950, he married
Ida Lou Long, and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Other survivors include, 5 children, Douglas (Susan) Harrod, New Bremen, OH, David (Colleen) Harrod, Victoria (Dennis) Braun, both of Wapakoneta, Daniel (Peggy) Harrod, New Bremen, OH, Donald (Margaret) Harrod, Minster, OH, 8 grandchildren, Christina (Darrin) Klinger, Eric Harrod, Staci (Bob) Cotrell, Benjamin, Kendall, Andrew, Kelly, & Shawn Harrod, 6 step-grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren & 2 step-great grandchildren, A sister, Lillis Hemphill, Waynesfield. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Jane Harrod, 4 brothers, Donald, Edwin, Gene, & Glen Harrod, and a sister, Ada Knoch.
Mr. Harrod retired in 1990 from Walters & Associates, Elida, where he specialized in masonry restoration. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the K of C, Council #1272, both of Wapakoneta. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served in the South Pacific Theater during W.W. II. A member of the Waynesfield American Legion, he was also a graduate of Waynesfield Goshen High School. He was a member of the Auglaize Co. Sheriff’s Dept., Auxiliary for 35 years. He was an avid auto racing fan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Mon., July 9, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, Rev. Henry Albietz officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Sun., at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Edith L. Hershberger

Edith L. Hershberger, 60, of Lima, OH, died 4:14 a.m., Sun. July 1, 2007, at the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Ft. Wayne. She was born Feb. 21, 1947, in Bellefontaine, OH, the daughter of Robert D. & Martha Lee (Arthur) Flinn, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 25, 1968, she married
James H. “Jim” Hershberger, and he survives.
Other survivors include, 4 children, Lisa (Doug) Gamble, Wapakoneta, Cinda Hershberger, Franklin Furnace, OH, Scott (Joy) Hershberger, Youngstown, OH, Amy Hershberger, Lima, OH, 4 grandchildren, Dyllan, Drysten, Delayne, & Alyssa, 2 step-grandchildren, Cody & Blake, a brother, Robert L. Flinn, Wapakoneta, 2 sisters, Mildred (Tim) Hershberger, Wapakoneta, Ruth (Jack) Smith, Wapakoneta, 13 nieces & nephews, 15 grand nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Hershberger worked with PTC Plastics, Lima, and as a Jackson Twp. poll worker. She was a member of Liberty Chapel Methodist Church, Lafayette, OH. She was also a member of the Children’s Conservation League, Lima Chapter, and the Emmaus Group. A 1965 graduate of Wapakoneta Senior High School, she attended Olivet Nazarene University, Kankakee, IL. She dearly loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She never met a stranger and enjoyed sewing & collecting.
Services will be 11:30 a.m., Fri. July 6, 2007, at the Liberty Chapel Methodist Church, Lafayette, OH, Pastor Neal Whitney officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Thurs., at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, and 1 hr. prior to the service, Fri., at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Liberty Chapel Methodist Church.
Thomas C. "Tom" Robert

Pastor Thomas C. “Tom” Roberts, 42, of Wapakoneta, died 12:20 p.m., Sun. July 8, 2007, at his residence following a battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 30, 1964, in Ft. Wayne, IN, the son of Marion & LaDonna (Gruber) Roberts. His parents survive in Orland, IN. On Sept. 30, 1989, he married
Anita S. Lieser, and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Other survivors include, 2 daughters, Kathy & Rachel, both at home, a brothers, Richard (Cristine) Roberts, Ft. Wayne, 4 sisters, Cheryl Thomas, Ft. Wayne, Lois (Bob) Boyster, Fremont, IN, Carol Kesith, Ft. Wayne, Sara (Chris) Doehrman, Hudson, IN.
Pastor Tom was an ordained minister for 16 years, presently serving St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta. He also served as pastor with Calvary Lutheran Church, Cromwell, IN, and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dubois, IN. He was a graduate of Wittenberg University, Springfield, OH, and Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, OH. He was a “Faithful servant of the Lord”, and a member of the Wapakoneta Ministerial Association. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Auglaize Fish & Game Club.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wed., July 11, 2007, at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta, Bishop Marcus Lohrman officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 2-4 7 6-8 p.m., Tues., at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, and 1 hr. prior to the service, Wed., at the church. Memorials contributions may be directed to a memorial fund established for his daughters’ education.
Wilbur R. "Wig" Schmaltz

Wilbur R. “Wig” Schmaltz, 80, of Dublin, OH, formerly of Wapakoneta, died 1:40 p.m., Thurs., July 12, 2007, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, OH, following a sudden illness. He was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Pierceville, IN, the son of Henry & Anna (Ruggles) Schmaltz, and they preceded him in death. On Aug. 18, 1951, he married
JoAnn Morgan, and she survives in Dublin, OH.
Other survivors include, 2 sons, Brad (Penny) Schmaltz, Columbus, OH, Mark (Kathy) Schmaltz, Delaware, OH, 6 grandchildren, Brock (Heather) Schmaltz, Ryan, Shane, &Tess Schmaltz, Kara & Abbie Hardy, 3 great grandchildren, Sidney, Audrey, &Ava, a brother, Harold Schmaltz. He was preceded in death in death by a brother, Gene.
Mr. Schmaltz retired as a quality control inspector in 1989, after 32 years service with the Ford Motor Co., Lima Engine Plant. A 1945 graduate of Blume High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran, and served during W.W. II in the European Theater. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and a life member of the V.F.W. #8445, both of Wapakoneta. He was also active with the U.A.W. Local #1219 Retirees.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Mon., July 16, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Sun. at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, and 1 hr. prior to the service, Mon. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church.
Mary C. Goudy

Mary C. Goudy, 78, of Wapakoneta, died 11:00 a.m., Fri., July 13, 2007, at her residence. She was born July 2, 1929, in Glynwood, OH, the daughter of Robert & Agnes (Connaughton) Hunt, and they preceded her in death. On May 15, 1965, she married
Paul E. Goudy, and he died Nov. 18, 1975.
Survivors include, numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Marguerite Orphal, Rita Miller, & Agnes Feil, and 3 brothers, Bernard, James & Robert Hunt.
A homemaker, Mrs. Goudy retired from the Central Service Dept. of St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima, after 23 years service. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tues., July 17, 2007, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, Rev. Henry Albietz officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Mon., at the Long & Folk Chapel, 13 S. Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta.
Teresa L. Russell
Date of death: July 13, 2007
Teresa L. Russell, 54, of Wapakoneta, died 2:00 p.m., Fri., July 13, 2007, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, following a 2 ½ year battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 25, 1952, in Lima Memorial Hospital, the daughter of Delbert & Louise (Sakemiller) Neuman. Her mother, Louise Neuman survives in Wapakoneta, and her father is deceased. On Aug. 16, 1986, she married
Marshall Odes Russell, and he survives in Wapakoneta.
Other survivors include, a daughter, Stacey (Jason) Metzger, New Knoxville, OH, a son, Jason (Amber) Ridenour, Wapakoneta, 3 grandchildren, Kayla, Jenna, & Mia, a sister, Tammy (Gordon) Brookhart, Westerville, OH, 4 nephews, Brandon, Brent, Bradley, & Bryant Brookhart.
Teresa was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She had worked as a secretary. She was a member of Brands Lake Fishing Club, Wapakoneta. An avid cross-stitcher, she also enjoyed sewing.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Tues. July 17, 2007, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta. Burial is to follow at the Greenlawn cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Mon., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the Susan Koman Breast Cancer Foundation.
