Isabelle M. Balcolm

Isabelle M. Balcolm, 85, of Mansfield died Tuesday morning, November 27, 2001 at Woodlawn Nursing Home after an extended illness. Mrs. Balcolm was born February 10, 1916 in Richland County to Christian and Viola Miller. She was a homemaker and attended the St. John’s United Church of Christ.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, W. James and Helen Balcolm and Jack Lee and Cindy Balcolm, all of Mansfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Dean Ulrey of Mansfield and Judy and Larry Sauls of Austin, Texas; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Her husband, William J. Balcolm, Jr. and parents, Christian and Viola Miller preceded her in death.
There will be no calling hours at Wappner Funeral Directors.
Alice M. Barnes
November 01, 1915 - November 25, 2001
Alice M. (Beal) Barnes 86 died Sunday morning November 25, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield. Alice went to be with the Lord after a brief illness. She was born on November 1, 1915 in Wayne Co., Ohio. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Mansfield First Assembly of God. Alice was a foster-grandmother for Richland Co. New Hope, loved to participate in the seniors group at her church, going out to eat, shopping, and especially loved being with her family and friends.
She is survived by three sons and daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Carolyn A. Barnes of Ontario, Benny W. Barnes, and David S. Barnes both of Mansfield; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy C. Mulvane, Camella S. and Joe E. Seamour, and June E. and Lloyd Davis all of Mansfield; nine grandchildren, Eric Mulvane, Pamela Stirp, Natalie Mulvane, Christie Patrie, Joe Seamour, Bryan Seamour, Sharon Seamour, Theresa Yu, and Julie Davis; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William Ira Barnes; and her parents William and Stella Hathway Beal.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Tuesday November 27, 2001 from 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am at the First Assembly of God conducted by Rev. Thomas Blair. Burial will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park.
Brian Scott Bartman
April 04, 1975 - December 03, 2001
Brian Scott Bartman, 26, of 2445 Stiving Road died unexpectedly Monday, December 3, 2001. Mr. Bartman was born April 4, 1975 in Canton, Ohio living in the Mansfield area most of his life. He was a self-employed flooring contractor with Washington Floors. He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, four-wheeling, hunting, shooting and flying with family and friends. He had his student flying license. He attended Grace Evangelical Free Church. Brian was a loving husband and father and special friend to his nephews and nieces and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Brian went home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Michele L. (Norris) Bartman of Mansfield; a son, Kage Scott Bartman at home; his parents, Gerald & Carol J. (Neale) Bartman of Mansfield; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald K. Bartman of Mansfield, Kevin D. & Julie Bartman of Lakeland, Florida, and Keith D. & Jamie Bartman of Mansfield; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lisa A. & Max Moore of Mansfield and Tina M. & Charles Cornish of Cincinnati; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; his father-in-law and step mother-in-law, Mike & Kathy Norris of Ashland; his mother-in-law, Yong Nan Norris and her friend, Leon of Mansfield; grandparents-in-law, Laverne & Lucille Norris of Mansfield; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Stephanie Rawlings and Bobbi & Corbin Magistro, all of Mansfield; a half brother-in-law Michael Norris of Ashland; a half sister-in-law, Samantha Norris of Ashland; a half step sister-in-law, Shannon Dewitt of Ashland; close friends, R.T. Mong of Mansfield, Trevin Hollon of South Carolina and Carlos Hood of Mansfield; and his church family. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Julius T. & Anna E. Bartman; and maternal grandparents, Edwin E. & Margaret E. Neale.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 536 Kentucky Avenue, conducted by Pastor Dennis Nezrick and Rev. Arlington B. Stilwell. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Brian.
Maxine E. Beamer

Maxine E. Beamer, 76, of Mansfield, died Monday morning, December 17, 2001 at her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Beamer was born January 4, 1925, in Mansfield to Paul and Ethel (Kaufman) Bowden. She was a homemaker who loved her hobby of arts and crafts.
She is survived by her son, Stephen J. Beamer of Mansfield; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gregg Linger of Lexington; two grandchildren, Teresa Linger and Rachel Linger; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Lyle Bowden of Mansfield; sister, Gloria Scheurer of Mansfield; and special friend, Jeanette Adkins of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ethel Bowden, husband, Lewis C. Beamer, and one brother, David Bowden.

Shirley Anne Pruner
August 08, 1935 - December 18, 2001
Shirley Anne (Snyder) Pruner, 66, of Ontario died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield. Mrs. Pruner was born August 8, 1935 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the area all of her life. She was a member of Mansfield Baptist Temple for 23 years where she served in the nursery and Kings Kids ministries and also participated in the Secret Sister program. She enjoyed watching sporting events and was a certified basketball referee. Mrs. Pruner was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She dedicated her life to serving her family by sewing, shopping and cooking large meals for every special occasion. She attended all her grandchildren's programs and collected pictures and videos of each one. She also enjoyed caring for her lawn and flowers.
She went home to be with the Lord one week following surgery. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Harold Wendell Pruner of Ontario; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim & Brenda Pruner of Crestline; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy Richter and Pam & Dave Smith, all of Ontario and Becky & John Kurtz of Lucas; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Roma & John Them of Mansfield and Janet Gerhart of Crestline; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald Snyder of Mansfield and Don & Pam Snyder of Phoenix, Arizona; a special aunt, Lula Seaman; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy, Andrew, and Bethany Smith; Tabitha, Brittany, Tiffany, and Brandy Pruner; Jenna Lakey; and Johnny, Jennifer, Kristin, and Kyle Kurtz; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chalmer & Grace (Clark) Snyder; and a brother, Daniel Snyder.

Israel McDuffie
December 24, 1922 - December 15, 2001
Israel McDuffie, 78 of Mansfield died Saturday morning December 15, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield following an extended illness. Mr. McDuffie was born December 24, 1922 in Allendale, South Carolina residing in the Mansfield area since 1950. He retired from General Motors.
Surviving are one daughter, Karen McDuffie of Mansfield; one son, Ronald McDuffie of Willingboro, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Jaye, Sherri, Ron and Keith; three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Ricky and Kyana; one brother, Ivory McDuffie of Philadelphia; two sisters, Edith McDuffie of Philadelphia; and Elizabeth McAllister of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to funeral services, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 22 conducted by his grandson, Rev. Keith McDuffie. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park.
Denver R. "Penny" Pennington
January 28, 1936 - December 19, 2001
Denver R. “Penny” Pennington, 65, of Mansfield died Wednesday December 19, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield following an extended illness. Mr. Pennington was born January 28, 1936 in Laurel County, Kentucky residing in the Mansfield area most of his life. He was self-employed as a carpenter and a member of Moose Lodge #303 in Galion. Penny was an avid fisherman and one of North Central Ohio’s finest Wood Craftsman.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn (Smith) Pennington; three daughters and sons-in-law, Teena and Fred Solinger of Mansfield; Tracie and Pete Prosser of Canton; and Joy Logue of Lakeland, Florida; one son, James Pennington of Mansfield; two step sons and step daughters-in-law, Ryan and Chrissann Ruehle of Cincinnati; and Rodney and Tammy Ruehle of Columbus; one step daughter and step son-in-law, Renee and Todd Friend of Mansfield; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his mother, Rebecca Pennington of Bucyrus; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Donna Pennington of Texarkana, Texas; and Dan and Alexis Pennington of Arcadia, Florida; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Ron Auxier of Arcadia, Florida and Cindy and Dave Shumaker of Bucyrus; his buddy, Hansi. He was preceded in death by his father, Cam Pennington; one sister, Joyce Pennington; and one brother, Ralph Pennington.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday December 23, 2001 at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Tim Storms. Burial will be held in Oak Grove Memorial Park at a later date. Margaret Reese Harris

Margaret Reese Harris, 81, of 226 Cline Ave. died Friday afternoon, December 21, 2001 at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. Mrs. Harris was born March 4, 1920 in Wise, Virginia to Gerald and Bernice (Parks) Reese. She lived in the Mansfield area most of her married
life and was a homemaker. She attended Mt. Gilead Church of Christ and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority of Mansfield. Margaret loved to cook for her family and dearly enjoyed her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James & Patricia Harris of Mansfield; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry & Philip Raney of Lexington; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Gaines of Warren, Michigan, and Lila Manasse of Rost Hill, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde L. Harris and brothers, Charles Reese and G. C. Reese and sister, Billie Jean McWhorter.

Lorraine M. Bair

Lorraine M. Bair, 76, of Mansfield, died early Tuesday morning, September 4, 2001, at Mifflin Care Center. She was born October 2, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York, to Lamar K. and Cecelia A. (Engert) Baxter. Lorraine was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and was retired as a clerk with Read More Book Store.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Bair of Mansfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Jerry Coder of Danville, California and Deborah and Doug Metcalf of Delaware, Ohio; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Connie and John Bishop of Hawaii; and one brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Sue Baxter of Columbus, Ohio. Her parents, Lamar and Cecelia Baxter and her son, Russell Bair all preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, September 6 from 6-8 p.m. Vigil services will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Friday at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Catholic Charities.
Mary Ruth Ayers
October 19, 1917 - January 11, 2002
Mary Ruth Ayers, 83, of Mansfield died early Friday morning, January 11, 2002 at Mifflin Care Center. Miss Ayers was born October 19, 1917, in Mansfield to William A. and Rebecca R. (Kuntz) Ayers. Her parents were officers in the Salvation Army, stationed in Mansfield where they were in charge of the local facility, where Mary Ruth made her home. She followed her parents’ example by being a member of the Salvation Army and the Home League. Despite her limitations, Mary Ruth had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She was adored by many and was a loving, caring person.
She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Ayers) and Henry F. Ott of Mansfield; two nieces, Becki Smith Shick and Susan Smith Leach of Mansfield; and many good friends at the Salvation Army and Mifflin Care Center. Her parents, William and Rebecca Ayers, sister, Sylvia Pugh, and brothers, Paul and William Ayers all preceded her in death.
There will be no services. Private family burial will be in Mansfield cemetery. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to The Mansfield Salvation Army.
