Phillip A. Herd
Phillip A. Herd, age 51, of Marysville died unexpectedly Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Doctors Hospital West, Columbus.
He was employed for the past seven years with Bellefontaine Auto Supply-NAPA and formerly served as the operations manager for 17 years with Englefield Oil Company. He was a 1975 graduate of Marysville High School. He possessed a keen intelligence having shown an appreciation for green technology and natural remedies. He enjoyed a good debate even though he was known to be a little “bull-headed”. Phillip enjoyed firearms and target practice and loved spending time on his farm.
He was born May 8, 1957, in Marysville to the late Howard V. and Martha Mae Berry Herd. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda & Phil Randall and a nephew Lee Manville.
Survivors include his wife of over 34 years, Louann Ritchie Herd, to whom he was married
on July 15, 1974, in Palmyra, MO; his brother, David (Nancy) Herd, Marysville; a sister-in-law, Faye (Malcolm) Manville, Magnetic Springs; a brother-in-law, John G. (Pam) Ritchie, West Mansfield; nieces and nephews, Tammi (Mike) Wallace, Delaware; Tom (Shirley) Randall, Canton, MI; Keith Herd, Georgia; Mike (Diane) Herd, Marysville; Amanda Ritchie, Powell; Melissa Ritchie, Columbus; Marla (Jim) Ferguson, Birmingham, Alabama; and several great nieces and nephews, and his longtime best friend, Wayne McCarty, Marysville.
A Celebration of Phillip’s life will be held Thursday, April 9, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. at Mannasmith Funeral Home, Marysville. Jack Knox will officiate and burial take place at a later date. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Harry Gordon Boggs
Harry Gordon Boggs, age 86, of Columbus died Saturday, January 14, 2012, in the comfort of his own home with his wife at his side following an extended illness.
Gordon was retired from ABB Corporation where he had worked as an inspector for 34 years. A veteran of World War II, he served in the US Navy from May 25, 1944 to March 18th, 1946. He and his wife were members of the Karl Road Baptist Church. Gordon was a loyal and helpful neighbor who was always willing to lend a hand and do for others. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, a kind gentleman, and a faithful friend to their dog “Cricket”.
He was born August 8, 1925, in Ironton, to the late Earl B. and Cleora Addis Boggs. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 68 years, Maude Garrett Boggs, to whom he was married
on April 22, 1944, in Worthington; close family friends and neighbors, Tracy and Sally Fellure and their sons, Andrew and Thomas, each of Columbus; close friend, Steve DeWeese, Columbus; and several other extended relatives.
A private family graveside service will take place at Walnut Grove cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Home Reach Hospice in care of Mannasmith Funeral Home, 621 W. 5th St., Marysville, OH 43040, who is serving the family.
June A. Kline
June A. Kline, age 75, of North Lewisburg died Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at The Gables at Green Pastures with her family at her side following a short illness.
A loving homemaker, June was a 1954 graduate of Massillon High School and attended The Ohio State University. She was a former 4-H advisor and loved reading and the comfort of her own home. She and her husband were fans of Elvis Presley and June served as president of the “Taking Care of Elvis in Ohio with Tender Loving Care” Fan Club. More than anything, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was born June 26, 1936, in Massillon to the late Clifford and Evelyn Empfield Drake. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bill and Donnie Drake.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 56 years, Eugene “Gene” Kline, to whom she was married
on April 29, 1956, in Massillon; her children, Doug Kline, Springfield; and Kim (Rod) Watkins and Kenny (Tami) Kline, each of East Liberty; 8 grandchildren, Clint Watkins, Shawna Watkins, Jason (Andrea) Keller, Jordan Keller, Jason Kline, Nikki Kline, Alexis Kline, and Doug Kline, Jr.; and several great-grandchildren, including Lexi, Aly, Aiden, Hudson, and Lahna.
Following cremation, a graveside service will take place at Middleburg cemetery at the convenience of the family. Mannasmith Funeral Home, 621 West Fifth St., Marysville, OH 43040 is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
Audrey Elaine Liebhart
Audrey Elaine Liebhart, age 82, of Tampa, Florida, formerly of Marysville, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Tampa following an extended illness.
A homemaker, she was a longtime member of the Pottersburg United Methodist Church and was a 1947 graduate of Marysville High School. She enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting and needlework, and especially treasured the love of her family.
She was born December 10, 1929 in Highwater, Ohio, to the late Gabriel and Vertie Beard Kisamore. She was married
to George William Liebhart on June 1, 1947, at the parsonage of the Marysville First United Methodist Church by the Reverend Carl Alexander, and he preceded her in death on July 23, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a son, James “Jim” Liebhart, an infant son, Roger Liebhart; 2 sons-in-law, Curt Taylor and Gary Swindle; and 7 brothers and sisters, Eva Dilsaver, Hurdle Kisamore, Esten Kisamore, Herman Kisamore, Mabel Martin, Katherine Wince, and Ruth McLaughlin.
Survivors include her children, William Liebhart, Marysville; Rodney (LeJane) Liebhart, Summer Shade, KY; Linda Dearth, Marietta; and Marie Taylor and Patty Swindle, each of Tampa, FL; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Willis Moore, Sebring, FL; a sister, Martha Phillips, Milford Center; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012, at Mannasmith Funeral Home where the funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Lloyd Ferguson will officiate and burial will take place at Raymond cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Mary E. Vogt
Mary E. Vogt, age 73, of Marysville died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the OSU Medical Center with her family and pastors at her side following a brief illness.
Mary was a wonderful woman who will be remembered for her faith in God, her love and devotion to her family, and her gracious attention to her friends. She was employed for many years as an administrative assistant with Penn Oil Company and served the same role with Mannasmith Funeral Homes. In her younger years she worked as a librarian at the Marysville Public Library and was employed with Ellie’s Sewing Basket.
An active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mary served as the church organist for 17 years, served with the Altar Guild and Bell Choir, and delivered communion to shut-ins. She was a popular Adult Sunday School teacher for several years, and with her husband, was a member of the 79ers and church dartball team and volunteered with Memorial Hospital’s Mobile Meals Program. She graduated from Scioto Valley High School in 1956. Mary was an avid reader and took great pride in quilting. She enjoyed western square dancing as a member of the Village Squares and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and knitting, having made a Christmas stocking for each of her children and grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Nana” by her grandchildren, Mary loved the music of Neil Diamond and Mozart and was especially proud of her pet Bassett Hounds Bernie & Wally, her Terrier Chloe, and her cat McGwire.
She was born September 19, 1938, in Ostrander to the late Frank O. and Mabel R. Schott Miller. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Grace Miller.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Robert L. “Bob” Vogt, to whom she was married
on October 23, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Reverend E.J. Goedeking; her children, Sharon (Tim) Duvick, Flower Mound, TX; Elizabeth (Jim) Hollingshead, Marysville; and Robert (Jenny) Vogt, Fairborn; 9 grandchildren, Megan, Zac, Jared, Lyndan, Jessica, Clay, Rachael, Lauryn, and Ben; her sister, Ruth (Tom) Iles, Lewsiburg, WV; 2 brothers, George Miller, West Plain, MO; and Carl (Suzanne) Miller, Kingwood, TX; a sister-in-law, Shirley Orahood, Delaware; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; many friends; and her church family.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2012, at Mannasmith Funeral Home, 621 W. 5th, Marysville. Reverends Barry Scott and Kathy Reiff will officiate the funeral service on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 311 East 6th, Marysville. A luncheon will take place immediately following the service at Trinity’s Cana Hall and private family interment will take place at Fairview cemetery. Jean I. Graham
Jean I. Graham, age 92, of Marysville died Friday, October 12, 2012, in the Morey Center at Memorial Hospital of Union County.
She was retired from O.M. Scotts & Sons where she worked for over 17 years as an office assistant and laborer. She formerly served as a school cook with Broadway Schools for 10 years. She was a member of the New Dover United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women and had attended Watkins High School. She traveled extensively and was able to visit all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. She loved sports and was a loyal fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, especially the women’s basketball team, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Marysville High School softball team.
She was born November 26, 1919 in Milford Center to the late Glenn and Hazel Ullom Garey. She married
Walter Graham on May 4, 1937 in Rutland, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on December 6, 1977. She was also preceded in death by a son, William E. “Bill” Graham; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Graham; a granddaughter, Cherynn Reebel, a step-granddaughter, Sarah Diamond, a step-grandson, Terry Sanders, a great-grandson, Joel Graham; 3 sisters, Ruth Graham, Betty Forsythe, and Mary Duff; and a brother, William Garey.
Survivors include her daughter, Avolee (Harry) Fowler, Ft. Myers, FL; 2 sons, Robert (Marilyn) Graham, Marysville; and Wayne Graham, Ft. Myers, FL; 10 Grandchildren: Jeffrey (Greta) Graham, Michael Graham, Brad Shumway, Angela Fowler, Sonya (Dan) Coover, Bruce (Linda) Fowler, Lynette (Woodrow) Hamilton, Leeanne (Edward) McEntire, and Roggan and Amy Lynn Graham; a grandson-in-law, Andy Reebel; 3 Step-granddaughters, Colleen (Dave) Speicher, Sandy (Rick) Bushong, and Liz (Mike) Ripley; 17 Great-grandchildren; 10 Step-great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Thomas Clark Wilkins
Thomas Clark Wilkins, age 77, of Columbus, formerly of Sidney, Ohio, and Poughkeepsie, New York, died Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Doctors West Hospital following a short illness.
A retired accountant, he was the former proprietor of B‘n’W Orange Car grocery store in Poughkeepsie. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Columbus. Thomas attended SUNY-New Paltz and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a loyal fan of his New York sports teams and enjoyed building model airplanes.
He was born November 9, 1934, in Manhattan, New York, to the late Theodore and Virgie Darden Wilkins. He was preceded in death by 2 wives, Joyce Elaine Shelton Wilkins, and Carol Jean Meeker Wilkins, a granddaughter, Carol Jean Wilkins, a sister, Vera Miller, and 2 brothers, David and Clyde Wilkins.
Survivors include his children, Thomas (Kathy) Wilkins, Nashville, NC; Lisa (Robert) Baker, Springfield, MA; Indie (Mike) Terry, Columbus; Bryant (Anna) Wilkins, Katy, TX; Kellianne (Chris) LeBlanc, Enfield, CT; and Carolyn (Edward Padgett) Wilkins, Rocky Mountain, NC; 28 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Larry Darden, Columbus; and several nieces and nephews, including a very close niece to the family, Valerie Brancota, Nassau, NY.
Father Patrick Toner will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Mannasmith Funeral Home, Marysville. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will take place on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Dayton Nation cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Cancer Society.
Gene A. Cardinal
Gene A. Cardinal, 84, of West Mansfield, died Sunday, January 04, 2015 at Memorial Gables surrounded by family.
Born October 20, 1930 in Port Arthur Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late Edmond and Alfrieda (Wines) Cardinal.
On June 28, 1958 in Detroit, MI, he married
Mary Jane (Barber) and she survives in West Mansfield. He held various positions in many different areas of the country with Singer Sewing Machines, retiring after 20 years. After his retirement from Singer, he owned and operated Marysville Sew-Vac for many years. Gene attended Millcreek Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Also surviving are his children, Raymond (Diana) Cardinal of Houston, TX, June (John) Seymour of West Mansfield, Mark Cardinal of St. Charles, MN, Gene (Monica) Cardinal of Charleston, SC and Mary (Matt) Smithey of Marysville; grandchildren, Jessica, Lisa, Ryan Spencer, Jennifer, Lauren, Neal, Cathryn, Nick, Colin, Alec, Taylor and Collin; great grandchildren, Lexie, Michael, and Madeline and a brother, Eddie (Darlene) Cardinal of Canada.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe, Gordon, Ramon and Bernie and a sister, Marie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Millcreek Church of Christ with Jack Knox officiating. Burial will follow at the Millcreek cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Mannasmith Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Shirley May Hann
Shirley May Hann, age 79, of Marysville died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was employed with General Industries for 22 years and also worked at Navistar for 16 years and Ranco for 2 years. Shirley was a proud West Virginian and was a 1953 graduate of Stoco High School in Coal City, West Virginia. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and flower gardening and especially loved her family.
She was born August 15, 1935, in Coal City, West Virginia, to the late Kyle and Thelma Neely Pettrey. She married
William J. Hann, Sr. on March 6, 1971, in Marysville, and he preceded her in death on October 13, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Crump, her former husband, Leland Feasel, 4 sisters, Phyllis McComas, Dorothy Mason, Edith Roth, and Barbara Brown; and a brother, Raymond Pettrey.
Survivors include her 3 sons, David (Annie) Feasel, Marysville; Gregory (Julie) Feasel, Mt. Sterling; and Kevin (Shelly) Feasel, Richwood; her step-children, Susan (Jim) Suttles, Columbus and Thomas Hann, Florida; and William Hann, Jr., Florida; 7 grandchildren, Chad Jolliff, Nicole Peterman, Bradley (Whitney) Feasel, Amena (D.J.) Brokaw, Sarah Feasel, Anthony Feasel, and Joseph (Katie) Feasel; 2 step-grandchildren, John Suttles and Thomas Hann; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Margaret Brasseur, Lanham, MD; and Linda (Roy) Hardin, MacArthur, WV; a brother, Ted (Cathy) Pettrey, Shady Spring, WV; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Jerry L. Brown
Jerry L. Brown, 73, of Marysville, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the O.S.U./Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
Jerry was a 1959 graduate of Marysville High School where he excelled in football and basketball. He was a full/linebacker in football and a member of the 1957 undefeated team. After high school, he served from 1959-1963 as a seamen in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Diamond Head during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired in 1996 as superintendent from ODOT after working there 25 years. Jerry was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3320 and a member of the American Legion Post 0079. He loved fishing, watching NASCAR, was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns and enjoyed visits with his grandchildren.
Born July 30, 1941 in Marysville, he was the son of the late Paul and Leota (Fox) Brown.
Together in life for 42 years, he is survived by his wife, Patricia, whom he married
December 19, 1987 in Marysville.
Also surviving are his children, Vicky (Charles) Morris, Brian Brown and Christy (Mike) Jackson; grandchildren, Starla (Zach) Alexander, Derek McWilliams, McKenna Brown, Zach Heminger and Drew, Fox and Hunter Jackson; great grandchildren, Alexis and Gage Riley, DeLani Alexander and Braeleigh Jackson and sisters, Sally Orahood and Vicki Spain.
There will be no calling hours or services observed and burial will take place at a later date in the Oakdale cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Mannasmith Funeral Home.
Noah E. Davis, Jr.
Noah E. Davis, Jr., 87, of Columbus and formerly of Marysville, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Doctor’s West Hospital in Columbus.
A devoted husband and father, Noah loved visiting with and being around people, playing scratch-off lottery tickets, finding a good bargain and his cars. He was a graduate of Marysville High School, proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was a member of the VFW. He retired from General Motors after 30 Years working in security.
Born September 24, 1927 in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Noah Sr. and Alda (Langford) Davis. In 1951 he married
Sheila Cloyd and she preceded him in death in 2004. Surviving are his children, Douglas (Judy) Davis of Columbus, Syndi (Rob) Cobb of Sunbury and Glen (Roxanne) Davis of Columbus; grandchildren, Christy, Jason, Kelly, Luke, Glen Jr., Anita, Angel and Ronnie; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Fred (Virginia) Davis of New Albany, Elwood Davis of Columbus and Parks (Sandy) Davis of Columbus and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Mannasmith Funeral Home with his nephew, Tommy Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by the Union County Honor Guard. Friends may call prior to the service on Friday from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the D.A.V. or the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
