ESTHER M. LADD
CLOVERDALE – Esther M. Ladd, 96, of Cloverdale died 3:02 p.m. October 30, 2008 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima
Mrs. Ladd was born June 28, 1912 in Paulding County to the late Henry and Eva (Louth) Ziegler. In 1930 she married
Harry E. Ladd, Sr. who died in 1996.
She is survived by her children: Harry Ladd, Jr. of Cloverdale, James (Imogene) Ladd of Tucson, AZ, John (Sylvia) Ladd of Grover Hill, Jerry (Janice) Ladd of Findlay and Juanita Carder of Utica, KY; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were 3 brothers: George, Raymond and Nelson Ziegler; 3 sisters: Margaret Roughton, Marie Wheeler and Eva Ziegler; and a son-in-law: Raymond Carder.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date with burial following at Mt. Zion cemetery in Grover Hill. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dupont Church of the Brethren or a charity of the donor’s choice.
VIRGIL R. GILGENBAUGH
NEW BAVARIA – Virgil R. Gilgenbaugh, 85, of New Bavaria, died 1:14 am October 30, 2008 at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. Mr. Gilgenbaugh was born February 20, 1923 in Henry County to the late Joseph and Frances (Buet) Gilgenbaugh. His sister: Marie Gilgenbaugh survives in New Bavaria.
Mr. Gilgenbaugh was a retired farmer and had worked at the former Standard Brands in Napoleon. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Bavaria.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 am Monday November 3, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria with Fr. Stephen Stanbery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Sunday at LOVE-FUNERAL HOME in Leipsic where there will be a scripture service at 7:30 pm. Memorials can be made to Sacred Heart Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
EMMA BOECKER
FT. JENNINGS – Emma Boecker, 96, of Ft. Jennings died 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at The Meadows of Kalida.
Mrs. Boecker was born February 9, 1912 in Kalida to the late Henry and Lucy (Ellerbrock) Karhoff. She was married
to Andrew Hamburg who died in 1939. She then married
Wilbur Boecker on August 22, 1944 and he died June 23, 2000.
She is survived by her children: Robert (Marilyn) Hamburg of Ft. Jennings, Karen (Mike) Pohlman of Landeck and Sharon (Roger) Schroeder of Columbus Grove; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother: Vincent (Jenny) Karhoff of Elida; and 2 sisters: Lucinda (Moxi) Wehri and Sally Karhoff both of Kalida.
Preceding her in death were 4 brothers: Neil, Cap, Amos and Pete Karhoff and 3 sisters: Frances Karhoff, Adelia Schmitz and Rita Elwer.
Mrs. Boecker was a homemaker. She had formerly worked at the Ottawa Tomato Cannery. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ft. Jennings and it’s Rosary Altar and Catholic Ladies of Columbia societies and loved gardening.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ft. Jennings with Fr. Joseph Przybysz officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s cemetery, Kalida. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME in Jackson Township (corner of St Rts 224 & 634) and 9:30 a.m. until time of services Saturday morning at the church. A wake service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
ALBERT A. BERELSMAN
FT. JENNINGS – Albert A. Berelsman, 85, of Ft. Jennings died 9:27 pm Monday, December 28, 2009 at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert. Mr. Berelsman was born July 29, 1924 in Ft. Jennings to the late Anton and Elizabeth (Wieging) Berelsman. On November 25, 1950 he married
Beatrice Wahmhoff and she died August 23, 1953. He married
Mabel C. Calvelage on September 27, 1954 and she survives in Ft. Jennings.
Also surviving are his children: Janet (Mike) Freisthler of Sidney, Jean (Daniel) Heitzman of Continental, Anthony (Cindy Lamon) Berelsman of Delphos, Susan Fike of Leipsic, Tom (Bev) Berelsman of Ft. Jennings, Gary (Stacey) Berelsman of Ft. Jennings, Diana (Dennis) Osting of Ft. Jennings and Jackie (Jerry) Siefker of Ft. Jennings; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Bernadine Hoersten of Delphos and Olivia “Leafy” (Orval) Eickholt of Ottoville and 2 sisters-in-law: Belva Berelsman of Lima and Leona Berelsman of Delphos.
He was preceded in death by a son: Gerald Berelsman; a granddaughter: Ashley Bereslman; 2 great-grandchildren: Nathan and Mallory Gasser; a son-in-law: Craig Fike; 5 brothers: William, Linus, Hubert, Norbert and Ambrose Berelsman; and 4 sisters: Margaret Erhart, Cecelia Plescher, Mary Hoersten and Loretta Leatherman.
Mr. Berelsman was a retired farmer and was also retired from Warren and Swasey, Lima. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Ft. Jennings American Legion Post # 715.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Thursday, December 31, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings with Fr. Joseph Przybysz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ft. Jennings American Legion. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Wednesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township (corner of St Rts 224 and 634) and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. There will be an American Legion service at 7:00 pm and a scripture service at 7:30 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.

WARNIMONT, FR. RONALD
Rev. Ronald R. Warnimont
TOLEDO – Rev. Ronald R. Warnimont, 59, of Toledo and formerly of Miller City, Oh died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at his residence. He was born September 10, 1950 in Lima, Oh to Norbert and Mary Ann (Feltman) Warnimont. His father is deceased. His mother survives in Ottawa, Oh. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles and their families.
Fr. Ron was ordained June 5, 1976 at Holy Rosary Cathedral, Toledo, Oh. He was a graduate of the College of Steubenville Oh in 1972, Masters of Divinity from Mount Saint Mary, Cincinnati, Oh in 1976 and his Cannon Law degree from St. Paul University, Ottawa, Canada in 1989.
Father’s current assignment was with the Toledo Tribunal; other appointments include Pastor at St. Anthony, Columbus Grove 2003 - 2009; Pastor/Chaplain at St. Mary, Toledo 1998 - 2001; Rector at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, Toledo 1990 - 2003; Administrator at St. Mary Magdalene, Rossford in1990; Administrator at St. Wendelin, Fostoria in 1989; Administrator at St. Joseph, Paulding and Immaculate Conception, Cecil in 1988; Pastor at Our Lady of Mercy, Fayette and Fatima, Lyons 1985-1987; Associate Pastor at St. Joseph, Maumee 1984-1985; Administrator at Holy Spirit Seminary, Toledo1983-1986; Associate Pastor at St. Joseph, Maumee 1975-1980.
Father was also Spiritual Director, Instructor and Member of the Admission Board with Holy Spirit Seminary, Toledo 1980-1983; a liaison with Diocesan Seminarians at Divine Word Seminary, Perrysburg from 1983 to 1985; he also served as priest moderator for the St. Vincent de Paul Society; Dean of Central City Ministries of Toledo, Vicar General and College of Consulters for the Diocese of Toledo; Bishop Neuman Assembly 4th degree Knights of Columbus and a member of the St. Anthony Knights of Columbus Council #9788; Chaplain with the Toledo Police Dept for 10 years; Sportsmen’s Association of Lucas County and the Sons of the American Legion in Ottawa, Oh.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 2, 2010 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City, Oh with the Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair, Bishop of Toledo officiating. Reception of the body will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 1, 2010 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City followed by visitation until 8 pm. Visitation will also be held at church from 9 am until time of service Saturday.
There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 3:00 pm Friday and Honor Guard from 6 to 8 pm Friday and 9 to 11 am Saturday at church.
Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, Oh.

ISAAC A. “IKE’ MYERS
CLOVERDALE – Isaac A. “Ike” Myers, 71, of Cloverdale, died 8:00 a.m. Friday, December 25, 2009 at his residence. He was born February 24, 1938 in Jackson Twp., Putnam County, Ohio to the late William L. and Orah M. (Ladd) Myers. On June 29, 1963, he married
Martha Eleanor Sanford who died November 24, 1980.
Ike is survived by a son: John (Maria Luz Rios) Myers of Lima, Peru; a granddaughter, Katrina Myers and a great-grandson, Brendan Wayne Jones; one brother, Earl W. Myers of Columbus Grove and three sisters: Ethel Ickes and Ruth Prowant both of Cloverdale and Helen Holtzapple of Elida.
He is preceded in death by a son, Wayne Myers, who passed away in 1989 and five brothers: Marion, Sam, Virgil, Simon, and Dave Myers and a sister: Louise Elkins.
Ike was an US Army Veteran of the Korean War, which during his service time he was stationed in Germany with the 45th AAA Battalion. He retired after 25 yrs. driving truck at General Motors in Defiance. He once worked for the Russell Company in Pandora. He was a lifetime member of the Ottoville VFW Post #374 and a member of Continental American Legion Post #541. He had a big heart and generous giving spirit. He enjoyed traveling and camping in his motor home. Nothing was greater fun to him than playing cards and games with all his family and friends in the community. A good prank or joke brought lots of smiles to all he came in contact with. He passed his time tinkering and creating amazing things out of wood. He could be seen at auctions anywhere and was a flea market “Entrepreneur”. He was always best known for his big loving “Bear Hugs”, and spending quality time with his Special Friend, Judy Clementz of Cloverdale.
Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Dupont Church of the Brethren, Dupont, Ohio, with Rev. Terry Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Cascade cemetery, Cloverdale, with graveside military rites by the Continental American Legion. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Wednesday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and one hour prior to service at the church on Thursday.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of donor’s choice.
MEYER, SARAH JANE
LEIPSIC – Sarah J. Meyer, 87, of Leipsic died 3:15 pm Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. She was born March 20, 1922 in Kalida to the late Bernard and Anna (Hovest) Vorst. On November 27, 1941, she married
Alfred J. Meyer. He died November 16, 2002.
Surviving are 5 children: Phyllis (Larry) Unger of West Chester, Leon (Helen) Meyer of Glandorf, Len (Sharon) Meyer of Miller City, Janice (Chuck Herhold) Meyer of Viera, FL, Lois Fecteau of Peoria, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 sister: Elaine Schroeder of Columbus Grove; 3 brothers: Elmer Vorst of Columbus Grove, Carl (Ruth) Vorst of Kalida, Thomas (Fran) Vorst of Cloverdale. A sister-in-law: Mildred Vorst of Kalida. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law: David Fecteau and a brother: Harold Vorst.
Sarah retired as an English teacher at Ottawa-Glandorf High School for 25 yeas and also instructed the G.E.D. classes for many years. She was a graduate of The Ohio State University and received her master degree from Bowling Green State University. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Altar Rosary Society; a member and on the Executive Board for Catholic Ladies of Columbia; on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Education Association; a member and leader of the Ottawa-Glandorf Education Association for many years; on the Advisory Board at Bowling Green State University and a volunteer 4-H adviser for more than 20 years. Sarah had a strong dedication to teaching and promoting professionalism in the community through education.
A memorial mass will be said 10:30 am Saturday, January 23, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow at St. Isidore cemetery, Cuba. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Friday, January 22, 2010 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where the Altar Rosary will have a service at 7:30 pm.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary School/Church.
DOUGLAS A. BERG
LEIPSIC – Douglas A. Berg, 50, of Ottawa formerly of Leipsic, died 10:05 a.m. Thursday, December 24, 2009 at St. Rita’s Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf. He was born May 8, 1959, in Lima to Bernard and Rita (Busick) Berg who survives in Leipsic.
He is survived by a son: Matthew Berg of Orient, Ohio and a daughter: Dana (Jeremy) Welker of Mendon, Ohio; three grandsons and two brothers: Richard L. (Mary Ann) Berg of Deshler and David (Jane) Berg of Lima.
Preceding Doug in death is a sister, Tamara Berg.
Funeral service will begin 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic, with Pastor Mitch Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to service Tuesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.

ROSEMARY E. CROW
OTTAWA – Rosemary E. Stover Crow, 92, of Ottawa, died 9:05 p.m. Thursday, December 24, 2009 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born April 12, 1917 in Glandorf, to the late Edward and Lucille (Meyerhoffer) Roof. On September 13, 1941, she married
James R. Stover who died April 10, 1965. On April 28, 1972, she married
Dwight W. Crow who died May 16, 2008.
She is survived by 3 sons: John (Susan) Stover and James Stover both of Coldwater, MI., and Donald (Marlene) Stover of Ottawa; five stepsons: Steve (Debra) Crow of Findlay, Kevin (Sue) Crow of Madera Beach, Fl., Douglas (Barbara) Crow of Deshler, Rick (Marta) Crow of Bowling Green and Darryl (Lynn) Crow of Leipsic; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Bernadette Bensman of Bellefontaine, Mary E. Croy of Ottawa and Patricia (Virgil) Heuerman of Glandorf.
Preceding her in death is a brother: Edwin Roof and a sister, Alberta Roof.
Rosemary was a clerk for six years with Putnam County Probate Court and legal secretary for 25 years with J. Harry Leopold, Attorney-At-Law. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and its Altar Rosary Society. She was secretary over 30 years for the Ottawa Eagles Auxiliary, Ottawa American Legion Auxiliary and Ottawa VFW Auxiliary. She also served 30 years as secretary for Ottawa Catholic Ladies of Columbia and former president of MOCA #6 in Lima. She loved to crochet, play bingo and travel with her husband.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday; 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, where a CLC service at 7:00 pm Sunday; scripture service at 2:30 p.m., VFW & American Legion Auxiliary service at 7 p.m. and Ottawa Eagles at 7:30 p.m. all Monday at the funeral home.

BRAGG, CHARITY JANE
CONTINENTAL – Charity Jane Bragg, 90, of Continental passed away 2:28 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Defiance Regional Medical Center. She was born August 27, 1921 in Pike County, KY to the late James and Minnie (Robinette) Jude. On November 28, 1941 she married
Winfred Bragg and he died July 3, 1998.
She is survived by 9 children: Cliff (Linda) Bragg of Antwerp, Mavis (Dorse) Crum of Continental, Wanda (Dan) Schlosser of Defiance, Roger (Pat) Bragg of Defiance, Darl (Jackie) Bragg of CA, Rita Bragg of Defiance, Terry (Starr) Bragg of TN, Tim (Peg) Bragg of Continental, and Pam (Joe) Verhoff of Defiance; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a sister: Florence Owens of FL. Also preceding her in death was a son: Addison Bragg; 4 brothers: Nathan, Harm, Willis, and Hub Jude; and 2 sisters: Gladys Phillips and Flo Maynard.
Charity retired from Campbell Soup Company, Napoleon in 1976. She was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Defiance.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Church of Nazarene, Defiance with Pastor Don Lenard and Pastor Carol Retcher officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or Church of Nazarene Youth Group in Defiance.
HOERSTEN, DANIEL C. "RED"
OTTOVILLE – Daniel C. “Red” Hoersten, 57, of Ottoville died 10:22 a.m. Sunday, October 9, 2011 at his residence from malignant melanoma skin cancer and chronic lymphacytic leukemia. He was born January 31, 1954 in Lima to the late Anthony and Bernadine (Berelsman) Hoersten. On July 8, 1978 he married
Barbara Simmons and she survives in Ottoville.
Also surviving are his 2 children: Robin Davis and Taylor Marie Hoersten, both of Ottoville; 2 grandchildren: Brooke Lynn Davis who was born on Grandpa’s birthday and Bridget Joann Davis; 9 sisters and brothers: Nancy (Eugene) Schmersal of Kalida, Judy Hoersten of Van Wert, Ruth (Ron) Schulte of Kalida, Jane (Mike) Merschman of Kalida, Norma (Chip) Rampe of Kalida, Steve (Carol) Hoersten of Ottoville, Mark (Christie) Hoersten of New Haven, IN, Jeffrey Hoersten of Ottoville and Paul (Jody) Hoersten of Ottoville; a sister-in-law: Mary Lou Hoersten of Ottoville; mother-in-law: Katy Simmons of Lima; and 6 brother and sisters-in-law: Dominic “Butch” DeGrands of Bedford, VA, Kathy (Rex) Mowery of Lima, Mike (Karen) Simmons of Lima, Patti Marlatt of Lima, Don (Betty) Simmons of Westerville and Gloria (Ed) Greeley of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Robert “Bob” Hoersten; a father-in-law: Gene Simmons; a sister-in-law: Nancy DeGrands; 2 nieces: Brenda Hoersten and Emily Kahle; and 2 nephews: Blaine Hoersten and Marc Simmons.
Dan retired from General Motors in Defiance after 40.3 years. After retirement he became “Mr. Mom” and was an active grandpa. He loved his girls and granddaughters. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville where he was on the liturgy committee and was an usher. He was on the St. Mary’s cemetery board and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 2238, UAW 211 and Lima Eagles Aerie 370. Dan was a loyal Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan and a fan of #3 and # 88 NASCAR. He was a talented stained glass craftsman.

Burial will follow in St. Mary’s cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township. There will be a scripture service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
