SCHMENK, LOUISE
LEIPSIC – Louise A. Schmenk, 87 of Leipsic died 2:35 am Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf. She was born March 26, 1921 in Kalida to the late Albert and Elizabeth (Erhart) Hark. On October 26, 1946 she married
Victor B. Schmenk. He died July 20, 1986.
Surviving are 4 children: Paul (Iris) Schmenk of Fostoria, James (Bonnie) Schmenk of Kalida, Rachel (Jerry) Recker of Glandorf, Elizabeth (Robert) Youngpeter of Delphos; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Wilfred and Charles Hark and two sisters: Mary Lammers and Irene Schumaker.
Mrs. Schmenk retired as a cafeteria worker at Leipsic High School. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leipsic and its Rosary Altar Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was also a member of the Leipsic Eagles Auxiliary.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Tuesday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic where the Rosary Altar and CLC will have a service at 7:30 pm.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice
JOYCE E. MIEHLS
FT. JENNINGS - Joyce E. Miehls, 69, of Ft. Jennings died 5:55 pm Monday, June 30, 2008 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
Mrs. Miehls was born April 21, 1939 in Ottoville to the late Marvin and Angela (Horstman) Wannemacher. Her step-father, John Bendele is also deceased. On November 13, 1965 she married
Jim Miehls who survives in Ft. Jennings.
Also surviving are 3 children: Leslie (Kevin) Trentman of Ft. Jennings, Brian Miehls of Ottoville and Kristin Miehls of Ft. Jennings; 3 grandchildren: Lindsey, Luke and Nick Trentman; a brother: Dan (Betty) Wannemacher of Elida; a step-brother: Don Bendele of Kalida; and 3 step-sisters: Sharon (Irvin) Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Janie (John) Miller of Centerville and Doris Bendele of Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by a brother: John Wannemacher.
Mrs. Miehls was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, friends and family; shopping and vacationing in Gatlinburg, TN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Friday, July 4, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings with Fr. Joseph Przybysz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, corner of St. Rt. 224 & 634, and 10 am until time of service Friday at the church. There will be a scripture service 7:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Gladys I. Wirick
OTTAWA - Gladys I. Wirick, 83, of Ottawa, died 5 pm Thursday, August 11, 2005 at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.
Mrs. Wirick was born April 23, 1922 in Barton, GA. to Martin Luther and Olive (Morrell) Jones. On April 23, 1946 she married
Raymond Wirick. He died December 9, 1984.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Wirick of Charleston, WV., 4 daughters, Veronica (Ronald) Warnecke of Ottawa, Linda (Dennis) Cherry of Pandora, Karen (John) Chattin of Columbia, SC. and Chera Brumfield of Charleston, WV., 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, a brother, James (Jennifer) Jones of Waynesborough, GA., 4 sisters, Jessie Willis of Louisville, GA., Gloria Jones, Betty Gordy and Doris Hoffman all of Augusta, GA.
Mrs. Wirick was preceded in death by a grandchild and a brother, Martin Luther Jones.
She was a homemaker and former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bluffton.
Graveside services will be 2 pm Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Maple Grove cemetery in Bluffton. Fr. Ken Schnipke will officiate. Love Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Memorials can be made to the donor's choice.
DAREL L. DONALDSON
SHERWOOD - Darel L. Donaldson, 57, died on Aug. 8, 2005 at his residence. He was born Dec. 5, 1947 in Defiance to Aaron T. and Marjorie McVay Donaldson, who are deceased.
Survivors include two brothers, Harold and Howard Donaldson, both of Continental; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Leola C. Donaldson.
There will be no visitation. Burial will be at a later date.

JOHN BERGER
WEST LEIPSIC – John E. Berger, 63, of West Leipsic, died 8:10 pm, Thursday, August 4, 2005 at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf.
Mr. Berger was born January 5, 1942 in West Leipsic to Victor and Ruth (Kindle) Berger, who preceded him in death. On December 3, 1965 he married
Marilyn Wittenmyer and she survives in West Leipsic.
Also surviving are 2 daughters: Pamela (Tim) Niese of Glandorf, and Tonia (Tim) Larson of Leipsic; 6 grandchildren: Jessica Niese, Melody Niese, Christopher Berger, Nick Larson, Matt Larson, Jonathan Kitchen; 2 sisters: Ladonna Christman of Ottawa, and Helen (Jim) Reynolds of Hamilton, IN; and a brother, Terry (Betty) Berger of West Leipsic.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Kitchen; and 2 brothers: Victor “Pic” Berger Jr, and Gary Berger Sr.
Mr. Berger was a retired truck driver for Niese Leasing and Wards Construction. He was a social member of the McComb VFW, a member of the Ottawa Eagles, Findlay Moose Lodge, and Leipsic Rod and Gun. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed mushroom and turtle hunting with his grandkids, and was a collector of many things.
Services will begin at 4 pm, Sunday, August 7, 2005 at LOVE FUENRAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Peter Paige officiating. Burial will be at Center cemetery, West Leipsic. Visitation will be from 10 am to 4 pm Sunday at LOVE FUENRAL HOME, Leipsic with an Eagles service at 2 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
Burial will be in Center cemetery Friday, August 12, 2005, 6 pm.
BRITSCH, CHRISTOPHER
KALIDA – Christopher L. Britsch, 53 of Kalida died 3:29 pm Friday, July 4, 2008 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born September 17, 1954 in Lima to Clayton and Alice (Schulte) Britsch. His father is deceased. His mother survives in Kalida. On June 4, 1997 he married
Teresa Kahle and she survives in Kalida. Also surviving are two sons: Nathan (LaDonna) Britsch of Rock Hill, S. Carolina and Tyson Britsch of Charlotte, North Carolina; 3 brothers: Tim (Terri) Britsch of Dupont, Dan (Virginia) Britsch of Cloverdale, Anthony Britsch of Continental; 4 sisters: Barb (Doug) Verhoff of Kalida, Linda (Randy) Coble of Continental, Tina (Bob) Herr of Melrose and Betty (Ken) Kosch of Kalida. He was preceded in death by a brother: Michael Britsch.
Mr. Britsch worked for Kahle Turkey Farm in Kalida and had worked at General Motors, Defiance for 20 years. He was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, Cloverdale and was a member of the Kalida Fish and Game Club. He was a member of the Continental Pirates State Championship basketball team of 1973.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church, Cloverdale with Fr. Robert Kill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township (at the corner of St. Rt. 634 and 224) where a scripture service will be held at 7:45 pm.

PIERMAN, LENOLA
OTTAWA – Lenola F. Pierman, 90, of Ottawa died 5:00 am Saturday, July 05, 2008 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born February 18, 1918 in Metamora, Oh to the late Lennis and Faye (Reid) Berry. On July 3, 1946, she married
Corwin W. Pierman. He died February 23, 1995. Surviving are two children: Jerry (Judy Mull) Pierman of North Palm Beach, Fl. and Betty Lou McKagen of Port St. Lucie, Fl.; a brother: Dirl ”Bus” Berry of Defiance; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson: Robert Rice and a sister: Lillian Berry.
Mrs. Pierman was a homemaker and a member of Riley Creek United Methodist Church, Ottawa.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm Monday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Ottawa. Visitation will be from noon until time of service Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
Memorials may be made to the Riley Creek United Methodist Church.
HOHENBRINK, TONY
LEIPSIC – Tony J. Hohenbrink, 59, of Leipsic, died 7:29 pm Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf. He was born August 11, 1948 in Lima to Jim and Wilma (Recker) Hohenbrink and they survive in Ottawa. On July 22, 1985, he married
Cheryl Baden and she survives in Leipsic. Also surviving are 4 children: Jeff (Darleen) Hohenbrink of Galena, Brad (Cheryl) Hohenbrink of Ottawa, Greg (Marsha) Hohenbrink of Marysville and Ashleigh Hohenbrink at home; 5 grandchildren: Logan Hohenbrink, Tyler Hohenbrink, Lily Hohenbrink, Leah Hohenbrink and Andrew Hohenbrink; 1 brother: John (Kim) Hohenbrink of Allen, Tx.; 3 sisters: Judy (Dennis) Ellerbrock of Leipsic, Betty Ann Hooks of Lima, and Terri (Jerry) Niese of Glandorf; mother-in-law: Betty Baden of Defiance; father-in-law: Herbert Baden of Holgate. He was preceded in death by a sister: Sharon Steyer.
Mr. Hohenbrink was an IT Project Manager for HP Proctor and Gamble of Leipsic/Lima and a retired Chief Warrant Officer 3 with the US Army. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic; a US Army Vietnam Veteran; member of Leipsic American Legion where he served as Commander and Vice Commander; a member of Leipsic VFW, Leipsic Amvets; Leipsic Eagles and their golf league, Ohio and Putnam County Veterans Service Commission; a 1966 Graduate of Ottawa-Glandorf High School; attended Tri-State University, Angola, In.; enjoyed woodworking, house projects and restoring his ’76 Bronco and an avid OSU fan; he was extremely involved in recognizing all military veterans including the veterans memorial at Sugar Ridge cemetery. Tony loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge cemetery with military rites by the Leipsic American Legion, VFW and Amvets. SCHROEDER, DANIEL
KALIDA – Daniel C. Schroeder, 82, of Kalida died 9:00 pm Saturday, July 5, 2008 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1926 in Glandorf to the late Lawrence and Luella (Duling) Schroeder. On August 2, 1950, he married
Margaret “Margie” Schnipke and she survives in Kalida. Also surviving are 4 children: Marleen (Dr. Carl) Wehri of Delphos, Duane (Karen) Schroeder and Timothy (Karen) Schroeder both of Kalida, Dena (Marc) Pelletier of Minster; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Mary Jane Koester of Ottoville and Patricia (Don) Jostpille of Glandorf; 2 sisters-in-law: Helen Schroeder of Delphos and Janet Schroeder of Kalida. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Carl and Thomas Schroeder and a brother-in-law: Alphonse Koester.
Mr. Schroeder retired after more than 50 years as owner of Dan Schroeder Builder of Homes in Kalida. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida where he was active in the Holy Name Society, Men’s choir, church restoration and many other church organizations. He was a WWII Army veteran, a member of the Ottawa VFW, Ottawa American Legion, Kalida Knights of Columbus and Ottawa Eagles. Dan enjoyed volunteering in the county; entertaining at local nursing homes; polka dancing and refinishing cabinetry and antique cars. He built many homes in the tri-county area.
A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Ken Alt and Fr. Eugene Schnipke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Monday and 2 to 8 pm Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where the Knights of Columbus and Parish will have a rosary at 7:30 pm on Monday and the Ottawa VFW will have a service at 7:00 pm Tuesday.

BETTY JEAN STOWE
OTTAWA – Betty Jean Stowe, 82, of Ottawa, died peacefully at her home at 11:30 pm, Monday, July 7, 2008 surrounded by her family She was born December 11, 1925 in Fredericktown, MO to the late Samuel and Eustacia Clauser. On November 21, 1947 she married
Jim Stowe and he survives in Ottawa.
Other survivors include her children, Bruce Stowe of Ottawa, Sam (Joyce) Stowe of Worthington and Mary Stowe (Bobby Joyner) of Columbus; 2 grandchildren, Ryan Stowe and Andrew Stowe; and 3 sisters: Dolores (Charles) McCarty of Licking, MO, Doris Scott of Lebanon, MO and Dorothy Skaggs of St. Louis, MO.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Paul Stowe; a brother, Paul Clauser; and 4 sisters: Hazel Ricketts, Gussie Thompson, Virginia Thompson, and Martha Ann Callier.
Mrs. Stowe was a Putnam County Health Nurse for 20 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa and the United Methodist Women, a member of the Grey Ladies and a volunteer for the Blood Bank.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 11, 2008 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa with Pastor Lynda Lockwood and Rev. Daniel Huther officiating. Burial will follow at Harman cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Ottawa and one hour prior to service Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
CHERYL M. (WEBER) HEUERMAN
LEIPSIC – Cheryl M. (Weber) Heuerman, 48, of Leipsic, died Monday, July 7, 2008 in Ottawa, Ohio.
She was born December 12, 1959 in Wauseon, Ohio to Richard D. and Sandra G. (Rupe) Weber. Her mother survives in Wauseon, and her father is deceased. She was formerly married
to Mel Heuerman, who survives in Ottawa.
Cheryl was a homemaker. She was a member of Pandora United Methodist Church and a kidney donor.
Survivors also include two sons, Joseph R. Heuerman and Benjamin J. Heuerman, both of Leipsic; and three brothers, Tom (Julie) Weber and Randy Weber, both of Wauseon, and Charles Weber of Delta.
Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2008 at Pandora United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Hollinger officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Wauseon Union cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
