DONALD L. BIDLACK
WEST LEIPSIC-Donald L. Bidlack, 82, of West Leipsic died 4:34 am, Thursday, December 20, 2007 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
Mr. Bidlack was born October 30, 1925 in Continental to the late Emery and Dottie (Matson) Bidlack. On April 21, 1945 he married
Mildred Niese who survives in West Leipsic.
Also surviving are his children; Linda (Mike) Schulte of Ottawa and Mark Bidlack of Van Wert, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother; Glen Bidlack and a great-granddaughter; Emily Recker.
Mr. Bidlack was the Mayor of West Leipsic for the last 16 years. He had delivered fuel for Ashland Oil and had been a milkman, school bus driver and a TV repairman. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leipsic, a former West Leipsic Councilman and a square dance caller for the Country Wildcats. He enjoyed camping and polka dancing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am, Monday, December 24, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME in Leipsic. Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s School.
CHRISTINE M. JOHNSON
CONTINENTAL - Christine M. Johnson, 40, of Continental died 6:38 am Thursday December 20, 2007 at her residence.
Mrs. Johnson was born June 30, 1967 in Lima to Verlin and Marcia (Ramer) Eblin. Her father is deceased, her mother and step-father survive in Bryan. On August 23, 2003 she married
Tony Johnson who survives in Continental.
Also surviving are her 6 daughters; Amanda Fenter, Samantha Fenter, Cindel Fenter, Stephanie Fenter, Jennifer Fenter and Kristi Fenter all of Continental, 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers; Kevin (Becky) Eblin of Oakwood and Terry (Jeudi) Eblin of Illinois and 5 sisters; Yvonne (Mike) Densmore of Melrose, Kelly Elston of Continental, Rachel Eblin of Oakwood, Angie Eblin of Antwerp and Jamie (Ben) Moran of Continental and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother; Keith Eblin.
Mrs. Johnson was employed at Acme Machine Automatics in Ottoville. She was a member of the Free Christian Church of God in Continental.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Saturday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home in Oakwood with Rev. Jim Fry officiating. Burial will be in Little Auglaize cemetery in Melrose. Visitation will be from 12 noon until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the family.
BERNARD E. SEHLHORST
KALIDA - Bernard E. “Bernie” Sehlhorst, 81 of Kalida died 11:52 PM Wednesday December 19, 2007 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
Mr. Sehlhorst was born May 22, 1926 in Columbus Grove to the late Henry and Salome (Beckman) Sehlhorst. On June 6, 1949 he married
Helen Unverferth who survives in Kalida.
Also surviving are his children: Dennis (Anne) Sehlhorst of Toledo, Roger Sehlhorst of Kalida, Diane (Lee) Recker of Glandorf, Joseph (Barb) Sehlhorst of Kalida, Pat (Mike) Meyer of Ottawa and Nancy (Kris) Schnipke of Kalida, 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a sister: Hildegarde Schmiedebusch of Ottawa.
He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Ray, Paul, Omer “Dusty” and Henry “Hank” Sehlhorst and a sister: Mary Verhoff.
Mr. Sehlhorst was retired from Philips Display Components formerly of Ottawa. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society, the Ottawa Eagles, Kalida Knights of Columbus, Kalida Fish and Hunt Club and he enjoyed spending time and playing cards with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He was an avid sports fan especially of the Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes and horse racing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Saturday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Ken Alt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME in Jackson Township at the corner of St Rts 224 and 634. There will be scripture service 3:30 pm and a K of C service 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Parkinson’s Association or charity of the donor’s choice.
PAUL E. HEFFLEY
CONTINENTAL - Paul E. Heffley, 91, of Continental died 11:17 am Wednesday December 19, 2007 at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf.
Mr. Heffley was born January 10, 1916 in Continental to the late Grover and Hazel (Sohlke) Heffley. On February 17, 1943 he married
Orpha Simmons who survives in Continental.
Also surviving are his children: Rudy (Dorothy) Heffley of Carthage, NY and Judy (Junior) Feisthamel of Croghan, NY, 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a sister: Marvel (Bud) Kirkendall of Continental.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Forrest Heffley and 3 sisters: Maxine Meece, Viola Hansen and Leona Simmons.
Mr. Heffley was a retired farmer. He was a member of the former Kieferville United Methodist Church and a US Army veteran of WWII.
A funeral service will be held 1 pm Sunday December 23, 2007 at Heitmeyer Funeral Home in Continental with Rev. Terry Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Saturday and 12 noon until time of service Sunday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
WILLIAM H. PLASSMAN
LEIPSIC - William H. Plassman, 84, of Leipsic died 2:05 pm Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
Mr. Plassman was born June 28, 1923, in Napoleon to the late George and Regena (Neddermeyer) Plassman. On January 1, 1947 he married
Constance Morris who survives in Leipsic.
Also surviving are his children; David (Esther) Plassman of Napoleon, Miriam (Brent) Gibson of Leipsic and Thomas (Debra) Plassman of Leipsic, 4 grandchildren; Mitchell Gibson, Miles Gibson, Corey Plassman and Clarissa Plassman; 2 step-grandchildren; Eric (Tasha) Gerken and Terry Gerken.
He was preceded in death by his brother; Henry Plassman.
Mr. Plassman retired engineering technician after 31 years with GTE Sylvania in Ottawa. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Leipsic where he served as Financial Secretary for 35 years. He was a 1941 graduate of Napoleon High School and attended Bowling Green State University and DeVry Tech, a WWII US Army Air Force Veteran who served with the 380th Bombardment Group in the Pacific Theatre, member of Leipsic American Legion- Charles Wagner Post and Leipsic VFW, Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio Lodge #325 Ottawa, Scottish Rite-Valley of Toledo, Zenobia Shrine of Toledo, GTE Sylvania Quarter Century Club.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 am Friday, December 21, 2007 at First Lutheran Church in Leipsic with Pastor George Zornow officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Ridge cemetery, Leipsic with military rites by Leipsic American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME in Leipsic and 10 am until time of service Friday at the church. A Masonic Service will be held at 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to First Lutheran Church in Leipsic.

MILLER CITY - Alphonse A. Laubenthal, 91, of Miller City, died 8:45 pm Saturday, December 29, 2007 at The Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf. He was born December 3, 1916 in Ottawa to the late August and Rosa (Heuerman) Laubenthal. On July 30, 1948, he married
Agnes Drummelsmith. She died July 13, 1995. Surviving are two sisters: Alice Zimmerly and Marie Hill both of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by a brother: Frank Laubenthal.
Mr. Laubenthal retired in 1976 with the railroad as Station Master in Deshler. He had worked for the B & O, C & O and CSX Railroads. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Miller City; a WWII Army Veteran; a life member of the Miller City American Legion post 172 where he had been commander; a life member of the Brotherhood of the Way; Miller City Sportsmen’s Club; former Miller City Town Councilman; former president of the St. Nicholas cemetery Board.
A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10:00 am Thursday, January 3, 2008 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Robert DeSloover officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military rites by the Miller City American Legion, Ottawa VFW and Ottawa American Legion. Visitation will be form 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 3:30 pm.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
GRACE McCAGUE
OAKWOOD - Grace McCague, 94, of Oakwood died 8:25 am Friday December 28, 2007 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice in Defiance.
Mrs. McCague was born November 11, 1913 in Oakwood to the late Rev. Charles Roberts and Elsie (Brown) Pratt. On December 24, 1931 she married
John McCague who died October 6, 1992.
Surviving are her children: Dana McCague of Ft. Wayne, IN, Dian Adkins and Richard McCague both of Oakwood, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; Joe Pratt of Scott, Albert Pratt of Oakwood and 2 sisters; Elnor Runion of Woodville and Alma Rhodes of Grover Hill.
She was preceded in death by her step-father; Roy Pratt, 2 sons; Raymond and Philip McCague, a grandson; Terry McCague, 5 brothers; David, Jason, Rolland, Paul and Delmer Pratt and 5 sisters; Ida Wyatt, Edna Pratt, Norma Showalter, Alice Fulmer and Bonnie Guilford.
Mrs. McCague was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Oakwood.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 am Monday December 31, 2007 at Heitmeyer Funeral Home in Oakwood with Pastor Jim Nathan and Pastor Paul Carder officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Chapel cemetery in Oakwood. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Sunday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME in Oakwood. Memorials can be made to the Leukemia Foundation of Defiance.
ROBERT E. FIKE
LEIPSIC - Robert Eugene Fike, 84, of Leipsic, died 8:45 pm Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at E M H Regional Medical Center, Elyria, Oh.
He was born January 22, 1923 in Leipsic, Oh to the late Ernest W. and Edna M. (Reimund) Fike. On January 29, 1946 in Montpelier, Oh he married
Clara Marie Purnell and she survives in Leipsic. Also surviving is a daughter: Nell Ann Fike of Elyria; and a sister: Betty (Richard) Bellman of Leipsic. He was preceded in death by a sister: Helen Binger.
Bob was a mortician and had retired as area manager-container manufacturing equipment maintenance for Campbell Soup, Napoleon. He was a member of Leipsic United Methodist Church and a former Chairman of the Trustees and a former Trustee of the Church and Sunday school Superintendent. He was a WWII Army veteran with the 383rd Anti-aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion, a member of Leipsic VFW and American Legion. He was also a member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 325 for over 50 years, Ottawa; former Leipsic Arbor Society; Anthony Wayne Court of the Order of the Amarantha; Friends of the Library; Leipsic Senior Citizens. Bob displayed and sold his woodworking at the Juried Fine Arts and Craft shows and Juried Woodworking shows; was a 1949 graduate of Cincinnati School of Embalming; member of Ohio Funeral Director Association for over 50 years, member of Districts 1 and 7 of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association; he received the award for excellence in 1983 from Campbell Soup Co., he was extremely active with Putnam County Red Cross blood drives and played Santa for many years for many groups and raised and sold Christmas trees.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 31, 2007 at Leipsic United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Bushong officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge cemetery, Leipsic with military rites by the Leipisc VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm Saturday and 2:30 to 8 pm Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic where there will be a Masonic service at 7 pm on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association
LEONA J. SCHWELLER
GLANDORF - Leona J. Schweller, 89, of Glandorf died 12:10 pm Thursday at Hilty Memorial Home in Pandora.
Mrs. Schweller was born October 26, 1918 in Glandorf to the late Albert and Elizabeth (Maas) Unverferth. On October 25, 1941 she married
Walter Schweller. He died December 6, 2007.
She is survived by her children; Larry (Jan) Schweller of Glandorf and Nancy (Keith) Bolyard of Columbus Grove, 5 grandchildren; Dana Schweller, Leah Schweller, Jordan (Jess) Schweller, Wes (Beth) Bolyard and Matt Bolyard, 2 great-grandsons; Nate and Ben Bolyard.
Her sisters, Lucille Verhoff and Mildred Unverferth, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Schweller was a homemaker and member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glandorf and its Rosary Altar Society. She loved to travel, polka dance and play solo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Monday January 14, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Church, Glandorf with Fr. Harold Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a Parish Rosary at 7:30 pm. Memorials can be made to the Glandorf Park Fund.
FLOYD R.SUDLOW
LEIPSIC- Floyd R. Sudlow, 83, of Leipsic died 9:20 pm Monday, January 7, 2008 at The Meadows of Leipsic.
Mr. Sudlow was born October 21, 1924 in Convoy, OH to the late Ray and Ada (Morehead) Sudlow. On August 21, 1948 he married
Angeline Meyer who survives in Leipsic.
Also surviving are his children; Dennis (Darlene) Sudlow, James (Theresa) Sudlow and Pat (Bob) Steingass all of Leipsic and Jean Ann Berger of Findlay, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; William (Dolores) Sudlow and Otha (Mary) Sudlow both of McComb and 2 sisters; Mary (Gene) Cramer of Missouri and Barb (Paul) Steffan of Leipsic.
He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren; Pam and Dawn Dillinger, 4 brothers; Donald, Charles, Kenneth and George Sudlow and 2 sisters; Eleanor Stetler and Betty Harbison.
Mr. Sudlow was a farmer and owner of Sudlow Repair in Leipsic. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leipsic, a US Army Veteran of WWII and a life member of Leipsic American Legion and Leipsic VFW.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 1:00 pm Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leipsic with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. There will be a military service at the church and burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Thursday and 1 hour prior to services Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic. Memorials can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to the Kidney Foundation.
RONALD J. PECK
LEIPSIC – Ronald J. Peck, 56, died Monday, January 7, 2008 at his residence. He was born February 8, 1951 in Findlay to Vincent and Gertrude (Barlage) Peck. His father is deceased. His mother, Gertrude Crawford survives in Leipsic. Also surviving is a brother, Roy Peck of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Virginia (John) Dixon of Palos Verde, Calif. and Kathleen (Michael) Dykstra of Elko, Nevada; a stepbrother, Jay Crawford of Belleville, Mich.; a stepsister, Diana (Charles) Trautwein of Findlay; a half brother, Thomas (Marci) Crawford of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sister-in-laws, Natalie Crawford and Sharon Peck, both of Leipsic; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a stepfather, Paul B. Crawford; a brother, James Peck; and a stepbrother, Bryan Crawford.
Mr. Peck was co-owner of Paul B. Crawford, Inc., Leipsic. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic and Leipsic Eagles, and social member of Leipsic V.F.W.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in St. Nicholas cemetery, Miller City.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
