Charlotte Maidlow MacCoy, 96, of Maryland and formerly of Ottawa, died on Friday, July 21, 2006 at her home in Bethesda, MD. Loving wife of the late Edgar Milton MacCoy; devoted mother of Sara Rogers of Connecticut, John MacCoy of Maryland and Douglas MacCoy of Florida; grandmother of Jennifer Brill, Cynthia Wharton and Kevin MacCoy; and great-grandmother of Mackenzie Wharton. Charlotte was the daughter of John Thomas and Lillian Jane Maidlow, who were long time residents of Ottawa, Ohio. She was the sister of the late William Maidlow, John Thomas Maidlow and Margaret Maidlow.
She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1928 before moving to the Washington D.C. area.
Burial will be on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Harman cemetery in Gilboa, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to The Parkinson's Institute, 1170 Morse Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94089-1605 Attn: Development Department.

Ottawa - Waltera "Wally" J. Vissers, 94, of Ottawa, died Friday, August 11, 2006 at 2:28 pm at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. She was born February 25, 1912 in Wrightstown, WI to the late Henry and Dina (VanDenElsen) VanLaarhoven. On September 12, 1933 she married
Adrian "Jack" Vissers. He died October 14, 1989.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Diane (John) Platten of Crocker MO, Juanita (Deane) Solseng of Lexington, KY, and Barbara (Bill) Laubenthal of Ottawa; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Etta Morgan of Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by a son, George Vissers; a grand-daughter, Sandy Platten; a brother, George VanLaarhoven; and a sister, Ann VanDenLangenberg.
Mrs. Vissers was a homemaker. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and its Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of the Ladies Royal Order of Moose in Findlay.
A Memorial Mass will begin at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Tom Hemm officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, Oneida, WI. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME where a scripture service will begin at 4:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Home Health and Hospice.

OTTAWA – Betty Barbey, 67, of Ottawa died 10:43 am Friday, August 11, 2006 at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf. She was born July 10, 1939 in Manhattan, New York to Daniel and Katherine (Gaffney) Barbey. She married
William Maziers and he died in July of 1973.
Surviving are two children: William (Cheryl) Maziers of Ft. Jennings, Cathy Maziers of Findlay. She was preceded in death by a son: John Paul Maziers and a sister: Joan Sharkey
A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, August 18, 2006 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, with Fr. Tim Knepper officiating.

SHAFFER, NOLEN E.

OAKWOOD – Nolen E. Shaffer, 78, died at 8:40 a.m. August 27, 2006 at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio.
He was born to the late Lee and Loma (Clear) Shaffer. On September 18, 1948, he married
Edna M. Klingler, and she survives in Oakwood.
Mr. Shaffer worked for Dana Weatherhead in Antwerp and was also a farmer. He was a member of Auglaize Chapel Church of God, Defiance V.F.W. Post 3360, Defiance Moose Lodge Post 2094, Defiance Eagles Post 372, and AM Vets Post 1991.
Survivors also include four sons, Danny N. (Julie) Shaffer of Melrose, Jerry (Kimberly) Shaffer and Ronnie Shaffer, both of Grover Hill, and Jimmy Shaffer of Paulding; a daughter, Peggy Carnahan of Grover Hill; a brother, Raymond Shaffer of Melrose; two sisters, Violet Harman of Oakwood and Mildred Sherry of Payne; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ray Shaffer; and a brother, Lloyd Shaffer.
Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at the Auglaize Chapel Church of God, Oakwood with Pastor Stan Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Sherman cemetery, Oakwood.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood, and 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.

OAKWOOD – Sylvia Lambert, 80, died at 10:15 a.m. August 27, 2006 at her residence.
She was born to the late George and Myrtle (Mayberry) Adkins. On December 31, 1947, she married
Elbert Lambert, and he died February 18, 2000.
Mrs. Lambert was a homemaker. She was a member of Oakwood Church of Christ.
Survivors include four sons, Lonnie (Carol) Lambert of Paulding, Donald (Shirley) Lambert of Oakwood, Daniel (Terri) Lambert of Defiance, and Kenneth (Rebecca) Lambert of Defiance; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2006 at Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, West Virginia with Ron Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Nelson cemetery, Ranger, West Virginia.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental, Ohio, and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, West Virginia.

FORT JENNINGS – Charles J. Landwehr, Jr, 73, of Fort Jennings, died 10:55 pm, August 25, 2006 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. He was born August 7, 1933 in Ottoville, to the late Charles F. and Frances (Trenkamp) Landwehr, Sr. On November 27, 1954 he married
Mary Jane Warnecke and she survives in Fort Jennings.
Other survivors include 2 sons: Ron (Barb) Landwehr of Fort Jennings, and Tony (Verna) Landwehr of Van Wert; 3 daughters: Janice (Dan) Wilhelm of New Bavaria, Joyce (Bob) Brubaker of Hamler, and Sharon Barnhart of Cloverdale; 9 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers: Joseph Landwehr of Ottawa, Alfred Landwehr of Kalida, Paul (Pat) Landwehr of Defiance, and Elmer (Jane) Landwehr of Cloverdale; and 3 sisters: Jo Ann (Herk) Menke and Irene (Bill) Warnecke both of Fort Jennings, and Rita (John) Martin of Delphos.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Landwehr; 2 brothers, James and Ed Landwehr; and a sister, Mary Maag.
Mr. Landwehr retired in 1988 from Ford Motor Co. of Lima. He was also engaged in Farming. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings; a US Army Veteran; Delphos Eagles; UAW 1219; Ford Retirees; and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings with Fr. John Stites officiating. Burial with military honors by the Fort Jennings American Legion will follow at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Sunday and 2 to 8 pm Monday at Fort Haven in Fort Jennings. Lillian L. Sroufe, 87, of Cloverdale, died at 5:04 PM Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa, Ohio.
She was born May 5, 1920 at St. Mary's, Ohio to Frank and Nellie (Burd)Leidy.
Surviving are three sons, William (Frances) Sroufe of Continental, LeRoy (Judy) Sroufe of North Creek and Larry (Ginni) Sroufe of Cloverdale; one daughter, Sandy (Tom) Weis of Ottawa; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 stepgreat-grandchildren and one sister, Marie Weber of Westlake.
She is preceded in death by an infant son, Rolland; two brothers, Richard Downing and Edgar Dilger and two sisters, Gladys Nelson and Zelma Celeland.
Lillian retired after 37 yrs. with Sylvania GTE, Ottawa. She was a member of Dupont Church of the Brethren and Quarter Century Club GTE Sylvania.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, CONTINENTAL, with Rev. Terry Porter officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Dupont. Visitation will be Tuesday, 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam Acres Care Center.

OAKWOOD - Blas Buiz, 70, of San Antonio, Texas, died 7:15 PM, Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Christus VNA, Hospice/Palliative Care Center, San Antonio, Texas.
He was born February 3, 1937 at Paulding, Ohio to Rudolph and Juana Ruiz Sr.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann (Jerry) Gates of San Antonio, Texas and Elizabeth (Troy) Meeker of Oakwood, Ohio, three grandchildren, Rachel Goetz, Katie Goetz and Molly Meeker and one brother, Rudolph Ruiz Jr. of Paulding.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Joseph Gonzalez and a sister, Socorro Yoshida.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War retiring from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service. He also retired from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Department after 16 years and continued employment with Integrity Ford in Paulding.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 3:00 PM at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, OAKWOOD, OH. with Deacon Val Lopez officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Oakwood American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
RITA A. VERHOFF
OTTAWA – Rita A. Verhoff, 79, died at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007.
She was born February 7, 1928 in Defiance to the late Joseph and Bertha Peiffer. On May 2, 1959, she married
Henry Verhoff, who survives in Ottawa. Also surviving are three sons, Patrick Verhoff of NH, Vincent Verhoff of Cleveland and Roger Verhoff of AL; a daughter, Theresa Tenwalde of Ottawa; six grandchildren; a brother, Louis Peiffer; and two sisters, Monica Seibert and Bernie Thompson.
She was preceded in death by a son, Sylvester Verhoff; and a brother, Paul Peiffer.
Mrs. Verhoff was a bookkeeper and a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Altar Rosary Society, RCIA Team, CCD Teacher, Liturgy Committee Leader, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Calvary Extraordinary Minister, President of Communion Services, Healing Team member, a Sunday Rosary leader, a volunteer for the Putnam Co. Rosary Service, and a graduate of Defiance High School.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday where a Parish Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m., and 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
CAMPBELL, JAMES F.

CONTINENTAL - James F. Campbell, 85, died at 1:15 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007 at The Meadows of Leipsic.
He was born Oct. 12, 1921 in Wauseon to the late Ralph V. and Elsie Mae (Detmer) Campbell.
Mr. Campbell retired from General Motors Central Foundry, Defiance. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Continental, Auglaize Country Club, and V.F.W. Post 3360 in Defiance. He was a Merchant Marine with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943 to 1945.
Survivors include a cousin, LaMar Hahn of Malinta.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Barton Campbell, who was killed in action during WWII and Garner Campbell.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental with Jerald Rayl officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery, Napoleon with military rites by the Defiance V.F.W.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
