Aspasia Gevas Couladis
ATHENS - Aspasia Gevas Couladis, 85, of Athens, passed away in her sleep Saturday morning, February 19, 2005 at the Lindley Inn in The Plains. She was the daughter of Greek immigrants Peter and Sophia Gevas, was born in Weirton, West Virginia in 1919 and graduated from Yorkville (Ohio) High School in 1937. She married
George Couladis in Martins Ferry, Ohio in 1940. Mrs. Couladis was a homemaker and lived in Barnesville in 1940 and in Athens since 1941. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star (#175), the Shrinettes, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral (Columbus, Ohio) and the Episcogal Church of the Good Shepherd in Athens. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Peter (Maria) and Alexander (Nancy) both of Athens, and Stephen (Cleopatra) of Williamsville, NY; grandchildren George and Daniel Couladis, Jay (Michelle) Ethridge and Jill Ethridge and Jill Ethridge; great grandson Jake; two sisters, Ann and Doris Gevas of The Plains; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Emmanuel (Irene) Gevas of Athens, and Dr. George (Mary) Gevas of Parkersburg, WV.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the United States and Greece. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1984; and a son, Johnny in 1950. Friends may call at the on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. There will be a Greek Orthodox Thrice Holy Hymm Service at 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 AM at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd with Father Demetrios Gardikes of Columbus officiating. Burial wil be in West Union Street cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral (555 N. High Street, Columbus, Ohio, 43215), the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd (64 University Terrace, Athens, Ohio, 45701) or the Appalachian Community Visiting Nurse Association (30 Herrold Avenue, Athens, Ohio 45701).
