Twila Dawn John
Homemaker

Twila Dawn John, 64, 2352 E. CR 50, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

She was born in Tiffin, Oct. 22, 1933, to the late Ralph and Josephine (Bridinger) Nusbaum. On March 17, 1965, in Tiffin, she married Raymond John. He survives in rural Tiffin.

Survivors also include: two sons, Ronald and Randolph Martin, both of Tiffin; three daughters, Mrs. Myron (Glea) Herr of Attica and Mrs. Scott (Jennifer) Kneeskern and Mrs. Dan (Bette) Magers, both of Tiffin; four brothers, Edward, Terry and Robert Nusbaum, all of Tiffin, and Jerry Nusbaum of Upper Sandusky; four sisters, Jacquiline Depp of Norfolk, Va., Georgianna Nusbaum, Marian Sherwood and Victoria Bauer, all of Tiffin; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. John, a homemaker, also worked for Bollinger's Hobby Shop and at Uncle Dick's Dairy Bar.

An avid bingo player, she was a member of the Protestant Faith.

Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Dialysis Unit at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

John P. Diemer
Tiffin native

Word has been received of the death of John P. Diemer, 90, formerly of Drummond Road, Toledo, who died Friday, July 31, 1998, in St. Raphael's Home for the Aged, Columbus.

He was born in Tiffin in 1908 to Bessie Whitmer Diemer and Karl Diemer. His wife, Isabelle Ruth, is deceased.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Tom (Brenda) Geiger Sr. of Toledo; a son, John W. (Lisa) Diemer; and two granddaughters, Andie and Kylie, both of Columbus.

Mr. Diemer was educated in Tiffin and attended the University of Cincinnati until he obtained a position with Dresch Dental Laboratory in Toledo in 1928. He eventually became vice president and co-owner of the company, retiring in 1987. He later worked for Dimmer Dental Laboratory and permanently retired in 1989.

He was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Toledo.

Graveside services were private. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, in St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Memorials may be made to St. Raphael's Home for the Aged, 1550 Roxbury Road, Columbus, Ohio 43212.

The Ansberg-West Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Donald J. Coburn
Ameritech retiree

Donald J. Coburn, 64, of North Main Street, Fostoria, died in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo, at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998.

He was born Jan. 11, 1934, in Fostoria, the son of Harold C. and Laura B. (Thompson) Coburn. His mother survives in Fostoria. His wife, Patty A. (Veach) Coburn, whom he married April 29, 1956, in Clovis, N.M., also survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: two sons, John C. and Bruce J. Coburn, both ofFostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Cynthia) Rogers of Priest River, Idaho and Mrs. Wyatt (Jenny) Keckler of Bradner; a brother, Coby Coburn of Fostoria; a sister, Judith Hook of Bowling Green; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his father; a son, Bryan W. Coburn; and a brother, Jack Coburn.

Mr. Coburn, a 1952 graduate of Fostoria High School, retired from Ameritech in December 1994, after 30 years of employment.

He also had served in active duty with the U.S. Air Force for 10 years.

Services in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be 1 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Donald R. Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Raymond C. Fitzwater
Railroad track supervisor

Raymond C. Fitzwater, 68, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at his home on Hillcrest Drive, Willard.

He was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Brecksville to the late Raymond T. and Grace (Jensick) Fitzwater. His wife of 50 years, Irene Ritch Fitzwater, survives. They celebrated their 50th anniversary Jan. 11, 1998.

Also surviving are: two sons, Raymond "Dutch" Fitzwater of Willard and Lee Fitzwater of Tallmadge; twin daughters, Mrs. Ed (Jane) Ernsberger of Shelby and Mrs. Donald (Jean) Murray of Willard; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

A grandson, Raymond R. Fitzwater, is deceased.

Mr. Fitzwater, a resident of the Willard area for 34 years, coming there from Newark and Richfield, was employed as a general track supervisor for the B&O, Chessie and CSX Railroads.

Pastor Randy Collins of Community Baptist Church, will officiate at the 1 p.m. Saturday service in the Secor Funeral Home of Willard. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery, Willard.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Romito Funeral Home, Bedford, Ohio, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Secor Funeral Home of Willard, 202 W. Maple St.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice in Tiffin or the Fitzwater family.

Margaret L. Klos
Sister of Tiffin resident

Margaret L. Klos, 75, died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at her home on Christy Blvd., Fremont.

She was born in Bowling Green Dec. 24, 1922, to Forest and Marie (Mercer) Gustin. On May 11, 1946, in St. Ann's Catholic Church, Fremont, she married Thomas E. Klos. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Thomas and James Klos, both of Fremont and Gary Klos of Pasadena, Md.; a brother, Melvin Gustin of Tiffin; a sister, Virginia Baskey of Plantation, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A brother, John Gustin, is deceased.

Mrs. Klos, a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fremont, was a homemaker. She also was the former owner/operator of Eastgate Beverage Center in Fremont.

A Mass of Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Ann Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary, Fremont, where a Wake service will be Thursday evening.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Memorial Hospital, 430 S. Main St., Clyde, Ohio 43410.

Berniece V. Schetter
Rosa Street homemaker

Berniece V. Scheeter, 89, died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at her residence at 98 Rosa St.

She was born in Tiffin, July 24, 1909, to Edward and Bessie (Messer) Kuhn. On Jan. 18, 1928, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married Francis C. Schetter. He died Dec. 5, 1970.

Surviving are: a son, James F. Schetter of Tiffin; five daughters, Mrs. Paul (Christine) Breidenbach, Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Rice, Mrs. Geraldine Payne, Mrs. Adam (Kathleen) Keefe and Mrs. Joseph (Cookie) Kastner, all of Tiffin; a brother, Paul R. Kuhn of Tiffin; 34 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Also deceased are a son, Eugene O. Schetter; a daughter, Julia Tiell; two brothers, John and Carl Wagner; a sister, Rosemarie Clark; three grandchildren, James and Laura Tiell and Adam Kastner; four great-grandchildren, Dakota Schetter, Jason and Jonathan Gressman and Kevin Roszman.

A homemaker, Mrs. Schetter was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society.

She also was a member of Tiffin Eagles Auxiliary, where she served as past president; the Seneca Rose Grandmothers, Daughters of Isabella, Mercy Hospital Volunteer and Tiffin Mercy Hospital Sewing Guild, where she was past president.

The Rev. James Say will be the celebrant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today, where Seneca Rose Grandmother's services are at 3:45 p.m. and Eagles Auxiliary services at 7 p.m..

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Building Fund or Mercy Hospital.

Leona Buchman
Homemaker

Leona Buchman, 83, 338 Main St., died at 12:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, in St. Francis Home.

She was born Nov. 25, 1914, in Berwick, to Redas and Lillian (Buchanan) Coffman. Her husband, Herman J. Buchman, whom she married Dec. 20, 1932, in Urbana, survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Irvin (Constance Leona) Stoneburner of Upper Sandusky; a brother, Eugene Coffman of Tempe, Ariz.; a sister, Goldie Hinton of Tempe; two grandchildren, John and Keith Stoneburner; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Thelma and Lillian; and two brothers, Floyd and Harold Coffman, are deceased.

A homemaker, Mrs. Buchman was a member of several card clubs, the First Lutheran Church and its Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was a Columbian High School graduate.

Memorial services will be at a later date. Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, St. Francis Home or Community Hospice Care.

Mary D. Cochenour
Caregiver

Former Kiwanis Manor resident, Mary D. Cochenour, 91, died at 11:25 a.m.Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, in St. Francis Home, where she resided.

She was born in Cowdenbeath Fifeshire, Scotland, Aug. 13, 1906, to Charles Alexader and Isabella (Dawson) Taylor. On Oct. 2, 1928, in Upper Sandusky, she married Clarence Cochenour Sr. He preceded her in death March 13, 1964.

Survivors include: a daughter, Lillian Lyons of Tiffin; five grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were: a son, Clarence Cochenour Jr.; a step-son, John Cochenour; and nine brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Cochenour, a former caregiver, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Services in Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral home will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Richard Mahlmann officiating. Interment will be in McCutchenville cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home is 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

Clara A. Fruth
Bascom homemaker

Clara A. Fruth, 95, of Bascom, died at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, in St. Francis Home, where she had resided since March 15.

She was born in Loudon Township, Sept. 8, 1902, to George and Olive (Hunker) Rinebold. Her husband, Archie D. Fruth Sr., whom she married Nov. 29, 1923, in her parent's home in Loudon Township, died Nov. 15, 1983.

Surviving are: four sons, Charles R., Archie D. Jr. and Duane P. Fruth, all of the Tiffin area and Larry W. Fruth of rural Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Charlotte M.) Dootz of Ann Arbor, Mich. and Mrs. Frederick (Marlyn J.) Matthis of Batavia; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert C. Fruth; and two brothers, Carl and Ervin Rinebold.

Mrs. Fruth, a homemaker, was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Bascom, its Women's Fellowship and Christian Leaders Class.

A 1919 graduate of Fostoria High School, she also was a member of the Bascom Community Garden Club, the Study Club, Seneca County Extension Groups and a 76-year grange member including Loudon Center Grange, where she was a charter member; present member of Pleasant Grove Grange, the Pomona Grange and with her husband, served as a Seneca County Grange Deputy.

Mrs. Fruth was a lifetime resident of Loudon and Hopewell Townships.

The Rev. Larry Lynch and the Rev. Roy Howell will be the co-officiants at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in Union United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Sand Ridge cemetery, Bascom.

Visitation at Turner-Engle Funeral Home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday.

Memorials may be made to the church.

David W. 'Bill' Dow
Former National Lime/Stone employee

David W. "Bill" Dow, 76, formerly of 340 E. Hardin St., Findlay, died at 1:35 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, in Winebrenner Extended Care, Findlay.

He was born in Carey, Sept. 17, 1921, to David A. and Marie (Orians) Dow.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Robert and John Dow; and three sisters, Caroleen Kitzler, Genevieve Engstrom and Jane "Mickey" Pirschel.

Mr. Dow, who had farmed with his father, had been employed by the Health Spa atthe YMCA and previously worked at National Lime and Stone Company in Lima, Marion and Carey.

A 1940 Carey High School graduate, he was an honorary 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Findlay Lions Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. today in St. Michael's Catholic Church-East, Findlay, with the Rev. Martin Nassr officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's cemetery at Salem, Carey.

Visitation was Monday at the Coldren-Crates Funeral home, Findlay, where the rosary was recited at 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Toledo Diocesan Development Fund for "Mass for Shut-Ins, in care of St. Michael's Catholic Church, 422 Western Ave., Findlay, OH 45840.

Eugene E. Armstrong
Nevada resident

Eugene E. Armstrong, 73, of 2403 TH 43, Nevada, Ohio, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at his home.

He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Eden Township, Wyandot County, to the late John J. and Anna M. (Carey) Armstrong. On May 24, 1953, he married Edna M. Fatzinger, who survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Dan E. Armstrong of Marblehead; and two daughters, Mrs. Roland (Bonnie) Bergen of Mesa, Ariz., and Mrs David (Loretta) Tolhurst of Fremont; and three grandchildren.

Four brothers, Cleo, Ross, Laverne and Carey William Armstrong, are deceased.

Mr. Armstrong was a 1943 graduate of Eden High School and retired as quality control supervisor at Millington Plastics, where he worked for 36 years. He was a lifetime member of Upper Sandusky Elks Lodge 83 and a member of Eden Chapel, United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Beryl Baum will preside at funeral services 2 p.m. Monday at Walton-Moore Funeral Home. Burial will be in Nevada cemetery, Nevada.

Visitations will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where an Elks memorial service will take place at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church.
