Henry Marion Featheringill
Attica resident
Henry Marion Featheringill, 87, 204 N. Main St., Attica, died at 12:29 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 1998, at Hillside Acres, Willard. He was born August 21, 1910, in Attica to David F. and Mary (Steele) Featheringill. On July 19, 1933, he married
Doris M. (Mills); she preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Jean) Heibertshausen of Attica, and Ms. Ruth Gangluff of Findlay; a brother, Willis Featheringill of Willard; a sister, Mrs. Lester (Joan) Hamilton of Attica; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; two brothers, Ted and Gale; three sisters, Pearl Miller, Ruth Secrest, and Viola Stockmaster; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Featheringill was a farm mechanic and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Attica.
The Pastor James Barkenquast will officiate the 11:30 a.m., Monday, June 15, 1998, service at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica. Burial will be at the Attica-Venice cemetery, Attica.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, June 14 at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Home, Attica.
Bertie M. (Gran) Pence
Homemaker
Bertie M. (Gran) Pence, 98, formerly of 207 S. 4th St., Upper Sandusky, died at 3:10 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 1998. She lived at the Fairhaven Health Care Community for the last 1 1/2 years. She was born July 23, 1899 in Dalton, Ga., to Thomas Jackson and Lena (Hamel) Kidd. On Jan. 13, 1918, she married
Charles Franklin I. Pence in Chattanooga, Tenn. He died Feb. 17, 1952.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Estel (Helen) Crowder of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Sherman (Bessie) Smathers of Mesa, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were three daughters, Neva Pearl, Elizabeth Van Horn, and Mary Newhouser; nine brothers; and one sister.
Mrs. Pence was a homemaker and a member of the Community Christian Center of Upper Sandusky.
The Rev. Bill Williamson will officiate the 11 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 1998, service, at the Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Burial to follow.
Visitation hours are from 6-8 p.m., today, and one hour prior to the service at the Bringman and Co. Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Community Christian Center or to Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
Steven A. Lamma
Lifetime Tiffin resident
Steven A. Lamma, 44, 2435 N. TR 73, Tiffin, died Thursday, June 11, 1998. He was born June 26, 1953, in Tiffin to John D. and Marguerite (Feasel) Lamma, both deceased.
Survivors include a son, Matthew A. Lamma of Tiffin; his fiancee, Rachelle Needles of Tiffin; three brothers, John M. Lamma of Tiffin, Kenneth W. "Duke"Lamma of La., and Harold L. Lamma of Delaware; three sisters, Mrs. Harold (Patricia) Smith, Mrs. Charles (Linda) Warren, and Mrs. Michael (June) Holcomb, all of Tiffin.
Mr. Lamma was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Memberships included the First Lutheran Church, Disabled American Veterans, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The Rev. John S. Ferne will officiate the 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 1998, service at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be at Seneca Memorial Gardens. The United Veterans Council will hold Military Graveside Services at Seneca Memorial Gardens.
Visitation hours are from 6-9 p.m., today, at the Funeral Home.

Fern L. (Hinsch) Walker
Seamstress
Fern L. (Hinsch) Walker, 88, 725 Columbus Ave., Fostoria died at 1:45 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 1998, at Fostoria Community Hospital. She was born April 6, 1910, to Clarence D. and Etta (Robinson) Hinsch. On June 9, 1929, she married
Westcott Walker in Defiance. He died June 9, 1980.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Sue Ellen Somorsky of Toledo, Mrs. Edward (Nana) Pages of Illinois, Mrs. Sharon K. Fuller of Tiffin, and Mrs. Jack (Beulah) Young of Hicksville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a son, Charles D. Walker; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Anita) Ault; three brothers, Ralph, Kenneth, and Mervin Hinsch; and a sister, Vanda Appel.
Mrs. Walker was a graduate of Mark Center High School in Defiance County. She was a seamstress for 14 years with Bill's Men's and Boys' Wear, Fostoria, retiring in 1965. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fostoria.
The Rev. R. Edson Reed will officiate the 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 15, 1998, service at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at Memory Gardens, Arcadia.
Visitation hours are from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 1998, at the funeral home.

John J. Diller
Former Findlay resident
John J. Diller, 30, 1884 S. Manuels Dr., Portland, IN, died early Thursday morning, June 11, 1998, at his home following an illness of several months. He was born Oct. 14, 1967, in Findlay to Tom and Shirley (Brickner) Diller.
Survivors include: His parents of Portland, Ind.; three brothers, James J. Diller of Ind., David N. Diller of Findlay, and R. Shayne Platt (wife Laura) of Ind.; a sister, Machelle Hilbert (Larry) of Wyo.; maternal grandmother, Mary Brickner of Fostoria; paternal grandparents, W.J. and Phyllis Diller of Findlay.
Mr. Diller was an employee of JCI of Portland, where he worked since August 1997. He was a former employee of Tropical Beauty Florist of rural Portland. He graduated from Jay County High School in 1986 and from Ball State University in1994 with a degree in business administration. He served eight years with the Indiana National Guard.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. (Indiana time) in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home. The Rev. John Gibson will officiate and burial will follow in the Green Park cemetery at Portland, Ind. The American Legion 211 will conduct Military Graveside Services.
Friends may call at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday.

Genevieve E. Ringle
Former Attica resident
Genevieve E. (Hook) Ringle, 85, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, in Mill Manor Nursing Home, Vermilion, following a long illness.
She was born Oct. 13, 1912, in Philadelphia, Pa., and has been a Vermilion resident since 1989, moving there from Attica. She also lived in Lewistown, Pa.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. James. R. (Jeannie M.) Parsons of Vermilion; a son, Carl Covert of Glen Burnie, Md.; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, David B. Ringle on Dec. 21, 1965; three sisters, Cecilia Hook, Margaret Prough and Martha Scott; and three brothers, Clayton, Elwood and Carl Hook.
A graduate of William and Mary College, Virginia, where she studied drafting, she was a cartographer (map maker) during World War II and was employed by the U.S. government to do costal geodetic surveys drafting war maps.
She was a member of the World Wide Church of God, Cleveland West Branch, and had been instrumental in building two churches, Brethren in Christ in Painterville, Pa., and the Evangelical United Brethren in Attica. She was a Sunday school teacher and active in church missionary work.
A former member of the Attica Garden Club, she enjoyed gardening, rock collecting, geology and sewing and was an avid reader and painter. She also played classical violin in the Lewistown Orchestra.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, where services will be 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Edward Faulk of the Worldwide Church of God and the Rev. Steve Blum of St. Mary Catholic Church, will co-officiate. Burial will be in Attica-Venice cemetery, Attica.

Mary Gibbs Laney
Former Margaretta School teacher
Former Clyde resident, Mary Gibbs Laney, 68, of Haines City, Fla., died Monday, June 8, 1998, in Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center, Davenport, Fla.
She was born in Fremont, April 25, 1930, to the late Denzil and Mabel (Jones) Gibbs. On April 2, 1953, she married
Ralph V. Laney, and he survives.
Other survivors include: Two daughters, Mrs. Scott (Dorine) Clapp of Clyde and Mrs. Art (Wendy) Garza of Woodstock, Ill.; four grandchildren; a sister, Norma Mahoney of Massachusetts; and a brother, Luther Gibbs of Fremont.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Cliff Gibbs.
Mrs. Laney, a graduate of Fremont Ross High School, the Ohio State University, Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo, had been employed as a school teacher in the Margaretta Local Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1977.
She was a former member of the Calvery Baptist Church, Clyde and a member of Landmark Baptist Church, Haine City; Gideons International Auxiliary, where she had served as chaplain and secretary and the National Campers and Hikers Association.
A long-time Clyde area resident, she moved to Florida in 1978.
Services in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, will be 1 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. James Belcher officiating. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home is 6-9 p.m. today.
Norine M. Wurm
Retired St. Joseph cafeteria worker
Norine M. Wurm, 91, formerly of 255 Gross St., died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, June 6, 1998, in St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
She was born in Seneca County, Dec. 25, 1906, the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine (Thom) Albus. Her husband, Victor A. Wurm, whom she married
Feb. 16, 1926, in St. Patrick Church, Bascom, died Sept. 16, 1957.
Surviving are a son, Michael Wurm of Dunstable, Mass.; five daughters, Mrs. Dean (Kathleen) Klopp and Mrs. James (M. Janet) Altweis, both of Sun City West, Ariz., Mrs. Thomas (Margaret) Warnement and Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Warnement, both of Tiffin and Mrs. Dorothy Company-Carlson of Henderson, Nev.; 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Four brothers, Victor, Edward, Arthur and Norman Albus; an infant sister, Corine Albus; and a grandson, Thomas Warnement II, are deceased.
Mrs. Wurm, a former Grey Lady for the American Red Cross, retired from St. Joseph School, where she had been employed as a cafeteria worker for more than 12 years.
A life-long Seneca County resident, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society, the Daughters of Isabella and its St. Agnes Circle.
A funeral Mass in St. Francis Home Chapel, 182 St. Francis Ave., will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Richard Dunn as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home and at St. Francis Home Chapel one hour prior to the Mass on Friday.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis Home or Calvert Foundation.
Thelma M. Raeder
Bellevue homemaker
Thelma M. Raeder, 83, of Brinker Street, Bellevue, died in the Bellevue Hospital, Monday, June 8, 1998.
Born May 17, 1915, in Detroit, Mich., to Edward and Florence (Hackney) Burdick, she married
George S. Raeder, June 20, 1933. He preceded her in death May 31, 1995.
Survivors include: two sons, George B. Raeder of Akron and J. Paul Raeder of Ann Arbor, Mich.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a half-brother, Richard Burdick of Indian River, Mich.
A brother, Rex Burdick, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Raeder, a homemaker, received her education and graduated from the Detroit Schools. Formerly of Michigan, she had been a resident of Bellevue for 15 years.
The Rev. Mary Jo Bray will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in Forest Lawn cemetery, Detroit.
Visitation at the funeral home will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
F. Evelyn Gorsuch

F. Evelyn Gorsuch, 88, formerly of 179 Huss St., died at 4 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 1998, in St. Catherine Care Center of Tiffin, 2320 W. Seneca CR 6, where she resided.
She was born in Upper Sandusky, Jan. 16, 1910, to Godfrey and Dora (Needs) Martig. On Dec. 24, 1929, in Upper Sandusky, she married
Dwight L. Gorsuch. He died Aug. 15, 1991.
Surviving are a son, Paul F. Gorsuch of Shelby Township, Mich.; two daughters, Ruth Ann Gorsuch and Mrs. Richard (Martha) Schultz, both of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Jean, Mary, Dean and Diane; and two great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Clair F. and Floyd A. Martig, are deceased.
A high school graduate, Mrs. Gorsuch was a homemaker and member of the First Lutheran Church.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John S. Ferne officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday in the Deats Room at the First Lutheran Church. Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund or St. Catherine's Care Center of Tiffin.
Muriel H. Nordlund
Retired Hopewell-Loudon teacher
Muriel H. Nordlund, 97, formerly of Walnut Street, Fostoria, died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 1998, in the Independence House, Fostoria, where she resided.
She was born July 9, 1900, in Centerville, S.D., to Holly James and Mary Myrtle (Greene) Hornbeck. Her husband, the Rev. Ralph T. Nordlund, whom she married
Jan. 12, 1926, in Chicago, Ill, died April 24, 1973.
Surviving are a son, Ralph H. Nordlund of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter, Mrs.Raymond (Marilyn) Burk of Fostoria; a sister, Arabella Boyer of Newport News, Va.; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Holly L. and Meredith Hornbeck; and a sister, Mercy Zimmerman.
Mrs. Nordlund taught English and Latin in the Hopewell-Loudon School System, retiring in 1969. She had previously taught in Lennox and DeSmet, S.D. and Raleigh County, V.Va.
A 1919 graduate of Centerville High School, Centerville, S.C. and a 1922 graduate of Sioux Falls College, Sioux Falls, S.D. with a bachelor's degree, she did her post graduate work at Beckley College, Beckley, Va. and Findlay College.
She was a member of the Fostoria Baptist Church, its Mary Martha Missionary Circle and taught the Welcome Class in Sunday School.
She also was a member of the Ohio Retired Teacher's Associaton and the Arcadia Ohio Senior Citizens at the Shepherd Center in Fostoria.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. David Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Fostoria Baptist Church or the Open Bible Baptist Church, Beckley, W.Va.
