Dewey E. Hall

Dewey E. Hall, 63, died at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 1998, at his residence at 339 W. Market St.
He was born in Letcher County, Whitesburg, Ky., Nov. 13, 1934, to the late Irvan Hall and Edna (Adams) Hall Dixson. On Sept. 6, 1958, in Whitesburg, he married
Kathryn Sturgill, and she survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Rodney L. Hall of Tiffin; a daughter, Sandra L. Grove of Huston, Texas; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Paul, Ray and Don Hall, all of the Tiffin area; and four sisters, Julia Lawson, Sillar Montgomery and Josephine Maksemetz, all of Tiffin and Alpha Hatton of Whitesburg.
A brother, Linville Hall, also is deceased.
Mr. Hall, a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, retired from the Maintenance Division of Whirlpool Corp.
A resident of the Tiffin area since 1954, he also was a minister for 26 years. For 15 years he served as pastor of the Tiffin Freewill Baptist Church, where he also was a member.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Freewill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Darrel Breman officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made in care of the family.
Jack F. Case
Electrician
Jack F. Case, 54, of 4434 N. SR 67, Sycamore, died at 3:09 p.m. Friday, July 17, 1998, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
He was born in Galion, Feb. 1, 1944, to Robert W. and Ruthe V. (Mayer) Case. They both survive in rural Upper Sandusky.
Survivors also include: two sisters, Mrs. Stephan (Roberta) Ekleberry of Avon Lake and Penny L. Case of rural Upper Sandusky; and two nieces.
Mr. Case, a member of the Protestant Faith, was employed as an electrician at Carter Electric in Galion.
A 1962 graduate of Mohawk High School, he had attended Stautzenberger College in Toledo.
He was a member of Enterprise Lodge 579 Free and Accepted Masons; McCutchen Chapter 96, Upper Sandusky, where he served as past master; Upper Sandusky Council 98, Marion Commandery 36, Order Eastern Star 366, Upper Sandusky; the Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo; Sons of the Sycamore American Legion Post 250 and current treasurer and member of Moose Lodge 303 in Galion.
The Rev. Charles C. Steward will officiate at the 11 a.m. Monday service in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Interment will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be at 8:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Enterprise Lodge 579 Free and Accepted Masons or Sons of the Sycamore American Legion Post 250.
Kenneth "Ray" Shaffer
Whirlpool retiree
Kenneth "Ray" Shaffer, 72, of George Street, Clyde, died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in The Bellevue Hospital. He had been in failing health for the last six years.
He was born Feb. 22, 1926, in Toledo, to George and Bess (McEwen) Shaffer.
Surviving are three sons, Kenneth R. "Bob" Shaffer of Portland, Ore., James C. and Kenneth "Aaron" Shaffer, both of Clyde; a daughter, Mrs. Steven (Cindi) Chasse of Vandalia; three grandchildren; a brother, Jerry C. Shaffer of Findlay; and two sisters, Mrs. Willy (Madalyn) Peck of New Washington and Mrs. Don (Mary) Fox of Sycamore.
Three brothers, Walter, Dean and Mac Shaffer, are deceased.
Mr. Shaffer, who received his education in the Sycamore schools, retired after 37 years of service in 1986, from Whirlpool Corp., where he was employed as a press operator in the Plastic's Department.
He served as a carpenter's mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Nevada, the most decorated ship in World War II.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, will be 6-9 p.m. Monday.

Faith A. (Eddington) Mullenhour, 25, of Bowling Green, died at 9:06 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 1998, in Fostoria Community Hospital, as a result of an ATV accident near Bascom. The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy Helen Rodericks

Dorothy Helen Rodericks, 88, of 100 W. Brown Road, Arcadia, died at 10:25 a.m. Friday, July 10, 1998, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
She was born in Hancock County, Sept. 25, 1909, to Grover and Gertrude (Williams) Hile. On Nov. 3, 1928, she married
Carl R. Dible, and they were divorced. On March 15, 1959, she married
Carmon Rodericks and he preceded her in death April 3, 1987.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Donna Marilyn Fairchild of Arcadia and Mrs. Barbara Ciolli of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous step great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Vera) Turner of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Martha Reinhart of Nashville, Tenn.
Also preceding her in death were an infant daughter, a great-granddaughter; a brother, Dwight Hile; and a sister, Lucille McCrary.
An avid crossword puzzle worker, Mrs. Rodericks was a homemaker. She had resided at the home of her daughter for the past eight years.
Services are 11 a.m. today in the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Richard Billings officiating. Burial will be in Van Horn cemetery, Vanlue.
Visitation at the funeral home was Sunday.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
John H. 'Jack' Hilvers

John H. "Jack" Hilvers, 75, died Sunday, July 12, 1998, in the Eaglewood Care Center, 20000 CR 4, Carey.
He was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Mansfield, to Henry A. and Helen G. (Dorsey) Hilvers. His wife, Joretta J. (Pugh) Hilvers, whom he married
March 22, 1952, in Findlay, preceded him in death Feb. 19, 1990.
Survivors include four sons, Michael E. Hilvers of Wharton, Steve J. and Rick W. Hilvers, both of North Baltimore and David L. Hilvers of Findlay; four daughters, Sharon Rice of Lima, Mrs. John (Susan) Wildman of Marion, Jodie F. Hilvers of Sycamore and Mrs. Charles (Diana) Wildman of Carey; two brothers, James A. Hilvers of Fostoria and Gene M. Hilvers of Huber Heights; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hilvers, a member of the First Nazarene Church, Findlay, retired in 1987, from Lytle Transfer Lines, where he had been employed for 35 years as a truck driver.
Services in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Findlay Chapel, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Larry Fairbanks, the Rev. John Wildman and the Rev. Dick Powell as officiants. Interment will be in Van Horn cemetery, Vanlue.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Austin Paul Smith, infant son of Paul and Deena (Shade) Smith of Shelby, was stillborn Wednesday morning, July 8, 1998, in Galion Community Hospital.
Surviving besides his parents are a sibling, Cruz Smith of Shelby; maternal grandfather, Dennis Shade of Sulfur Springs, Ohio; maternal grandmother, and step-grandfather, Darrell and Denise Ventrone of Tiffin; paternal grandparents, Philip and Jannie Smith of Shelby; paternal great-grandmothers, Mrs. Helen Smith of Fostoria and Mrs. Mary Ramey of Shelby; maternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Dawson and Mrs. Ernest (Grace) Shade, all of Willard.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Logan Lybarger in 1994; and his great-grandfathers, Ernest Shade and George Ramey.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Bethel cemetery, Richmond Township, Huron County, with the Rev. Steve Holiday of the Richmond United Methodist Church officiating.
The Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home of Bloomville is in charge of arrangements.

Word has been received of the death, last week, of Ralph Richardson, 85, of Visalia, Calif.
A 1930 graduate of the former Junior Home Schools, he had attended the annual Homecoming in Tiffin for many years.

Services for Jewell (Hall) Deer Howard, 76, who died Monday, July 6, 1998, in New London, Conn., are at 1 p.m. today in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria Chapel.
Mrs. Howard had entered the former Junior Home in the 1930s with her two sisters.
Alice M. Keegan

Alice M. Keegan, 72, Sandusky Co. Rd. 213, Fremont, died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at her home. She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Clyde to Elmer and Eva Gilbert. On July 29, 1943, she married
Rolland J. Keegan; he survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Larry and Mark Keegan, both of Fremont; two sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Ada Marie) Keegan of Green Springs and Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Fritz of Clyde; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death were two sons, Michael Keegan and an infant son.
Mrs. Keegan was educated in the Clyde school system. She was a homemaker and worked for the Whirlpool Corporation for 14 years, from 1947-1961. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Clyde.
There will be no services at the request of the deceased. The Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, is handling the arrangements.

Carl J. Kessler

Carl J. Kessler, 80, of 7330 Seneca Co. Rd. 45, Carey, died at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at the Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center. He was born July 30, 1917, to Jacob and Teresa (Metz) Kessler. On Feb. 27, 1941, he married
Lucille Mae Borer. She died Nov. 12, 1992.
Survivors include: three sisters, Sister Charlotte Kessler, O.S.F., Mrs. Victoria Theis, and Mrs. Elizabeth Theis, all of Tiffin; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Edward and Joseph Kessler.
Mr. Kessler was the previous owner of Kessler's Duck Hatchery and Kessler's Shoe Repair, both in Carey. Memberships included: Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Church, Carey; life membership in Earl Green Post 344 American Legion, Carey; and former member of the Catholic Knights of Ohio.
The Rev. Benjamin Knopp will officiate the 11 a.m., Friday, July 3, 1998, service at the basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Strombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey.
Visitation and the Rosary was held on Thursday, July 2.

Phyllis M. (nee Brink) Hammond Keiffer

Phyllis M. (nee Brink) Hammond Keiffer, 69, of 562 Maple St., Fostoria died at 4:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 1998 at her home. She was born Nov. 17, 1928, to Ben L. and Esna (Hemrick) Brink. She was married
to Charles E. Hammond, and they were divorced. On Jan. 26, 1957, she married
Virgil Keiffer, who died in February 1965.
Survivors include three sons, Steven E. and David L. Hammond, both of Fostoria, and Dennis L. Keiffer of Hood River, OR; two step-sons, Larry L. Keiffer of Luna-Pier, MI, and Thomas E. Keiffer of Oak Harbor; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Karen) Armstrong of Bucyrus; a sister, Helen Marvelle Pickens of Lima; 13grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Becky Holguin; two brothers, Lewis E. and Carl H. Brink.
Mrs. Keiffer was a 1946 graduate of Fostoria High School. She was employed with General Electric Corporation in Tiffin starting in 1952 and retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Fostoria Baptist Church.
The Rev. Jerry Morgan will officiate the 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 4, 1998, service at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria Chapel. Burial will be at the Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation hours are from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m., today at the funeral home.

Norma Morse-Sprow, 69, Ada Ave., Rising Sun, died at 2:15 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 1998, at the Wood Co. Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 18, 1928, in McGuffey, Ohio, to John and Virgie (Jarvis) Wells. She was first married
to Earl A. Morse on Nov. 1, 1946 in Toledo; he died in 1956. She then married
Richard Sprow in 1961 in Toledo and they were divorced.
Survivors include four sons, Earl Morse of Rising Sun, Richard Sprow of Fostoria, Daniel and Thomas Sprow, both of Rising Sun; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Karen) Jenkins of Lambertville, MI; two brothers, James Wells of Bowling Green, and John Wells of Saginaw, MI; two sisters, Betty Horne of Saginaw, MI, and Ellen Adams of N.C.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were parents; husband; and a grandchild.
Mrs. Morse-Sprow was the former owner and operator of Well's Market in Toledo and a former manager of Lawson's Dairy in Fostoria. She retired as the office clerk at the Rising Sun Elementary School.
The Rev. Harold Black will officiate the 3 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 1998, service at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at Whitney-Sims cemetery in Au Gres, MI. on Monday at 2 p.m.
Visitation hours are Saturday 2-4 p.m. and Sunday 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clarence Stark

A memorial service for Clarence L. Stark, 80, 3095 E. Seneca CR 50, who died Friday, June 26, 1998, will be 6 p.m. Friday in Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Officiating will be speaker Ray Bauer.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, and a sister, Regina Lucius, he is survived by three nieces: Mary Ann Bakies of Tiffin, Joan Stark of Sandusky and Kay Wise, who made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Stark and was Mr. Stark's caretaker; and two nephews, Donald and David Stark, both of Tiffin.
