Maria Diaz-Hernandez

Maria C. Diaz-Hernandez, 72, of 431 Union Court, Fostoria, died at 1:26 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, in the Toledo Hospital.

She was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Asherton, Texas, to the late Martin and Ofelia (de la Cruz) Zepeda. She married Epifanio G. Diaz Sr. in 1946. He died Dec. 19, 1974. Then she married Eusebio Hernandez in November 1979. He survives in Fostoria.

Also surviving are: nine sons, Eusebio Hernandez of Fostoria, Alfredo Diaz of Fremont, Mario A. Diaz of Fostoria, Ruben Diaz of The Colony, Texas, Jesse Diaz of Fostoria, Jose Diaz of The Colony, Texas, John Diaz, Rick Diaz, and David Diaz, all of Fostoria; two daughters, Rosemary Douglas of Ashland, Ky., and Debra Lynn Diaz of Steubenville; a sister, Catalina Mendoza of Texas; 35 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria, where a Christian Wake service will take place at 8:30 p.m.

Sharyn A. Britner

Sharyn A. Britner, 54, of Eagle Court, Fremont, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at Fremont Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 1, 1948, to the Carl and the late Margaret (Bair) Bullinger. His father survives in Clyde.

Also surviving are: two sons, Daniel P. and Joseph C. Britner, both of Fremont, and a brother, Paul S. Bullinger of Tiffin.

The funeral mass will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fremont. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont.

Lula Bartlett

Lula Bartlett, 90, formerly of Midvale Ave., Clyde, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at Elmwood Nursing Home in Green Springs.

She was born May 17, 1912, in Seneca Co., to the late Frederick and Cora (Moyer) Bartlett.

Surviving are: five daughters, Violet Wollenslegel, Rose Carroll, June Miller, Gigi Smith, all of Clyde, and Dorothy Mowry of Green Springs; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clyde. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home. in Clyde, with VFW services at 6:30 p.m., Eagles service at 6:20 p.m., and Moose services at 6:40 p.m.

George A. Parsons

George A. Parsons, 87, formerly of North Baltimore, currently of 461 West Lytle St., Lot 94, Fostoria, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 24, 1915, in North Baltimore, to the late Willis and Celestia (Claybaugh) Parsons. He married Dorothy I. (Thompson) Parsons on April 27, 1938, in North Baltimore. She died in 2002.

Surviving are: a daughter, Karol K. Parsons-Abeyta of Fostoria, and a sister, Annabelle Wooley of Oregon, Ohio; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria.

There will be no visitation.

Mary J. Hess

Mary J. Hess, 84, of 203 W. Ninth St., Sycamore, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at her home.

She was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Kenton, to the late Chester B. and Ermal B. (James) Eaton.

She married Ralph R. Hess on March 26, 1939. He died Aug. 15, 1981.

Surviving are: four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Nancy) Stansberry of rural Shelby, Mrs. Michael (Mary Lou) Beard of El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Jean Buxton of rural Radnor and Mrs. Rodney F. (Janet) Aller of Lima; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Richard and Jack Eaton.

Mrs. Hess was a homemaker and a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church,

She also was a member of: Nevada Temple 412 Pythian Sisters, Mohawk Lioness Club. Mrs. Hess was also a member of Mohawk Sixty Plus Club and a former member of the Sycamore Garden Club. She belonged to several travel clubs and loved to play cards and loved to do crafts.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, in Sycamore, with the Rev. Kelly Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sycamore United Methodist Church, Mohawk Lioness Club or to Mohawk Community Library.

Bill Martin

Bill Martin, 20, 3625 S. TR 113, died at 11 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. Arrangements are pending at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin.

Vessie C. Beekman

Vessie C. "Shorty" Beekman, 73, of 10414 Deercreek Dr., Ottawa, died 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay.

She was born March 11, 1930, in Latham to Charlie J. and Anna J. (Gragg) Beekman.

Surviving are: two sons, Kermit L. Beekman of Upper Sandusky and Jack O. Beekman of Mt. Gilead; a daughter, Loretta Quigley of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leonard E. Beekman of Sycamore.

Mr. Beekman was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Robert Ernest Reisig

Robert Ernest Reisig, 76, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, after a brief illness relating to cancer.

He was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Monroe, Mich., to the late Walter and Sylvia Ima (Wire) Reisig. He married Mary Jane (Albinack) Reisig. She survives in Norwalk.

Also surviving are: a son, Robert A. Reisig of Orlando, Fla.; six daughters, Pamela Moore of Westerville, Susan Bright of Norwalk, Sandra Nickoli of Huron, Janice Hall of Tiffin, Jacqueline Stedman of Perrysburg; and six grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, Mich.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Evans and Groff Funeral Home in Norwalk; and one hour prior to the service at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Norwalk.

Betty Jane Kerr

Betty Jane Kerr, 70,of 711 Winfield Ave., Findlay, died 11:42 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center Emergency Room.

He was born Jan. 17, 1933, in Bettsville, to the late William "Bill" and Irene (Matthews) Snyder. She married Glenn Kerr and they divorced. He survives.

Also surviving are: two sons, John B. Day of Piketon and David E. Kerr of Jenera; a daughter, Glenna R. Saxion of Tiffin; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; 12 brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Charles H. Smith

Charles H. Smith, 72, 4279 N. SR 53, Tiffin, died at 12:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

He was born Nov. 3, 1930, in McGuffey, Ohio, to Simeon C. and Sarah (Hites) Smith. His wife, Martha (Duffey) Smith, whom he married Oct. 18, 1948, in Greenup, Ky., survives.

Also surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Jon (Carol) Leinwohl of Burlington, Vt., Mrs. Roger (Susan) Arnett of Tiffin and Mrs. Brad (Nancy) Meadows of Sycamore; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Allen Smith of Florida and Albert and Harold Smith, both of Tiffin; two sisters, Ruby Pelfree of Indiana and Nancy Adams of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jason and Richard Smith; a sister, Betty Gill and a grandson.

Mr. Smith retired from Basic Refractories where he worked as a mechanic for 34 years. He also worked at the Glass House as a glass blower.

He was a previous member of the Nazarene Church and a member of Sam's Club.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Collette officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, Feb. 20; and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Mildred Louise Wagner

Mildred Louise Wagner, 87, formerly of Kirby, had been residing at Fairhaven Health Care Community since 1997, died 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 15, 1915, in Wyandot County to the late Frank P. and Dula (Gibson) Horn. She married Lester H. Wagner. He died in 1965.

Surviving are: three sons, Fred Wagner of Upper Sandusky, Justin Wagner and Thomas Wagner, both of Kirby; three daughters, Susan Mullholand of Marblehead, Janis Gillespie and Charlotte, both of Upper Sandusky; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Horn of California and Delson Horn of Wharton; two sisters, Luella Swartz of Upper Sandusky and Charity Littlejohn of California.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bringman Clark and Company Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Kenneth A. Clark

Kenneth A. Clark, 79, of 236 Main St., Helena, died 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at St. Francis Health Care Centre in Green Springs.

He was born Sept. 19, 1923, in Bettsville, to Vernon DeWitt and Lillian (Martian) Self. He married Vida Mompher on March 3, 1952, in Jackson, Mich. She survives.

Also surviving are: two sons, James Clark of Gibsonburg and John Clark of Holland; a daughter, Ruth Beckley of Fremont; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Clark was a World War II, U.S. Army veteran.

The funeral will be private. Burial will be in Metzger cemetery in Jackson Township.

There will be no visitation.

The Engle Funeral Home, in Bettsville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Nicholas David Biller

Nicholas David Biller, 84, of 686 S. Sandusky St., Lot 45, Tiffin, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003 in St. Francis Health Care Center. He was born July 13, 1918, to Allen and Hilda (Kiesel) Biller. On July 23, 1939 he married Genevieve G. Ryan. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Gerald (Jerry) Biller of Chandler, Ariz; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Beudette Miller of Fremont, and Mrs. Brian (Dixie Lee) Feasel of Tiffin; a brother, Thirman Biller of Tiffin

Mr. Biller, a U.S. Merchant Marine veteran, served Great Lakes duty during World War II. He retired from construction, working for Focht Brothers Construction. Memberships included: St. John's United Church of Christ; Tiffin Eagles Aerie 402; and Tiffin V.F.W. Post 2858.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home with the Rev. David M. Culp officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation hours are from 6-8 tonight, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Eugene Kin

A Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene J. Kin, 79, of 527 W. Findlay St., Carey, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Carey, with the Rev. Peter Damian Massengill, OFM. Conv., officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Carey, where military graveside rites will be conducted by local veterans organizations.

Visitation is 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. today, Feb. 21, at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.

Mr. Kin died at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at the Eaglewood Care Center, Carey.

He was born April 13, 1923, in Wyandot County, to William and Ida (Barrick) Kin. He married Mildred Kromer May 1, 1943. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Marilyn R. and Ken Studer of Tiro; five sons, Garry E. and Donna of Tiffin, Daniel J. and Linda of Carey, David W. and Barb of Lexington, Ohio; Randall P. of Louisville, Ky., and Joseph "Fritz" and Laura Ketter of Carey; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gervase Pienkowski of Dayton and two brothers, William of Forest and Ken of Upper Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Kin.

Mr. Kin owned and operated Kirby Motor Sales in Kirby, Ohio, for 32 years. He retired as a salesman from Lanning Motor Sales in 1991.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran from World War II. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Carey; a life member of the American Legion, member of Knights of Columbus and the VFW.

He also served as president of the Kirby Village Council for 24 years.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Franciscan Mission Association or Our Lady of Consolation Shrine Park Fund.

Ryan Michael Stover

Ryan Michael Stover, 22, of 2832 Albright Road, Bucyrus, died at 9:42 a.m. Thursday at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky, due to complications of a lifelong illness.

He was born Dec. 6, 1980, in Marion, Ohio. He is survived by his mother, Betsy A. Gerhart and husband Larry of Bucyrus, and his father Michael J. Stover and wife Nancy of Bucyrus. Also surviving are a paternal grandmother, Mrs. Franklin (Peggy) Stover of Sycamore; maternal grandparents are Marion and Betty Feasel of Sycamore; a brother, Timothy A. Stover of Bucyrus; and a stepsister, Chardonay French of Bucyrus.

A lifelong resident, Ryan graduated from Colonel Crawford High School in 1999. His first eight years of education were in the Bucyrus City Schools. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball and fishing.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Wise Funeral Service with the Rev. Robert Mathias officiating.

Visitation hours are 6-9 tonight, and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bucyrus Little League or to the Stover Family through the Wise Funeral Service.

Sally Christina Roszman

Word has been received of the death of Sally Christina Roszman of Granisle, British Columbia, Canada, who died at 12:35 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, in the Prince George Hospice Society Home.

She was born March 3, 1946, to Clyde H. and Mary Martha "Sally" Roszman, who survive at 177 Wall St., Tiffin.

Other survivors include: her children: Martin, Phil, MIchelle and Kimberly; three grandchildren; brothers, Donald Gene of Marathon, Fla., Judd of Adrian and Robert; and sisters, Mary Jo (Jody) Holland of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Nona Mulvain of Upper Sandusky. Two brothers preceded her in death.
