Freda E. Patchett

Freda E. Patchett, 68, of 260-A Richardson Dr., Upper Sandusky, died 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, in Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

She was born March 7, 1934, in Little York, to the late David D. and Isa Frances (Shiley) Naugle. She married Jack O. Patchett on April 30, 1963, in Upper Sandusky. He survives.

Also surviving are: two sons, Larry A. Wertz of Kentucky and Jody A. Patchett of Upper Sandusky; three daughters, Serena Kronenberger, Helen M. Eley and Brenda McMillan, all of Upper Sandusky; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Naugle of Florida and a sister, Chloe Runion of Fremont.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Chandler cemetery in Marseilles.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. on Friday, where the family will be present from 6-9 p.m.

Eleanor Kasza

Eleanor Kasza, 89, 115 E. Cherry Ave., Tiffin, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 18, 1913, in Lucky, Czechoslovakia, to the late Norbert and Apolonia (Druska) Yandura. On Aug. 31, 1940, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married John T. Kasza. He preceded her in death Oct. 7, 1986.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara A. (Jon) Blum of York, Pa. and Marcia E. Kasza of Sylvania; two sons, John E. of Tiffin and Charles N. (Judy) of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a sister, Appie Vargo and a brother, Albert Yandura, both of Tiffin; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a son, Thomas Kasza in 1992 and a brother, Anthony Yandura in 1978.

Mrs. Kasza, a previous volunteer at St. Francis Home, retired in 1976 after 20 years from General Electric. She attended St. Mary's and Calvert High School and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and its Altar-Rosary Society. She will be fondly remembered for her deep faith, simple loving ways, hospitality, courage and devotion to family and friends.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank A. Murd officiating. The rosary will be prayed at the church at 10:45 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 1 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Rick J. Neuman

Rick J. Neuman, 50, of 531 Park Ave., Fostoria, died at 6:46 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, in the Toledo Hospital.

He was born March 23, 1952, in Fostoria to W. Earl and Norma E. (Behrens) Neuman who are both deceased. He married Jill M. Penny June 29, 1974, in the First Presbyterian Church, Fostoria, and she survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: a son, Josh N. of Novato, Calif.; a daughter, Melissa N. Neuman of Bowling Green; and three brothers, Roger D. of Findlay, Richard A. of McComb, and Ronald E. of Nashville, Ind.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian Church, Fostoria. Interment will be Pleasant Hill cemetery, Portage Twp., Ohio.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Alverda May Myers

Alverda May Myers, 104, died at 8:40 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

She was born May 15, 1898, in Jackson Township to Charles and Orrie Ellen (Waltermier) Master. She married Roy C. Myers May 27, 1965, in Coshocton and he died Sept. 1, 1976.

Survivors include: three step-daughters, Helen Stearns, Gladys Havens and Florence Brubaker all of Fostoria; 11 step-grandchildren; and several great and great-great-step-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Grace United Church of Christ, Fostoria, with interment in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Jason F. Smith

Jason F. Smith, 69, of 1692 W. SR 18, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in the Autumnwood Care Center.

Further arrangements are pending at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Mary Ellen Souter

Word has been received of the death of Mary Ellen Souter, 87, formerly of 1533 W. Fremont Rd., Port Clinton, who died late Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, in the Ottawa County Riverview Senior Health Center, Oak Harbor.

She was born in Tiffin to Fred J. and Loretta (Michaels) Phillips. She married John G. Souter Sr. and he died Feb. 1, 1989.

Survivors include: two sons, John G. Souter Jr. of Sandusky, and Tom F. Souter of Norwalk; three daughters, Kathy Drummer and Donna Depner both of Port Clinton, and Sherry Buchsteiner of Bryan; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Phillips of Tiffin; and a sister, Thelma Gurklis of Brunswick.

The memorial mass was Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison St., Port Clinton.

Quick-Park and Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky, was in charge of arrangements.

James C. Burgess

James C. Burgess, 68, of 8702 W. SR 18, Fostoria, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Ray Barnes

Ray Barnes, of Atlanta, Ga., died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003. He graduated form the former Tiffin Junior Home High School and was a past president of the Jr. Home Alumni Association. He survived by one son, Thad Barnes of Atlanta, Ga.

Rosemary C. Clouse

Rosemary C. Clouse, 86, of 5622 W. CR 6, New Riegel, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Toledo Hospital.

She was born Oct. 25, 1916, in Alvada, to William and Lucy (Fraley) Kauffman.

She married Carl Clouse Jan. 12, 1939, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Alvada. He preceded her in death Dec. 31, 2002.

Surviving are: 10 children, Theresa (Jerry) Gable of Glandorf, Marge (John) Kirian of Tiffin, Mary A. (Barry) Wines of Upper Sandusky, Bob Clouse of Arcadia, Mike (Therese) Clouse and Carol (Bill) Kinn, both of Fostoria, Ken Clouse of Napoleon, Lenny (Lynn) Clouse and Norm Clouse, both of New Riegel, and Deb Monday of Carey; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Kauffman and Eugene Kauffman, both of Tiffin, and Donald Kauffman of Florida; and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Kramer and Mrs. Mary Ann Stover, both of Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by six siblings: Carl Kauffman, Paul "Bud" Kauffman, Esther Kauffman, Ruth Durdel, Rita Hoover and Helen Topel.

Mrs. Clouse received her education at St. Peter's in Alvada. She was a homemaker, and she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, baking and gardening. She and her husband lived on their family farm for all but three years of their 64 years together.

Mrs. Clouse was a member of St. Nicholas Church in Frenchtown and its Rosary-Altar Society, where she served as a past officer. She was a member of the local Catholic Knights of Ohio, Branch 52, and the American Legion Auxiliary 354. Mrs. Clouse was also a member of the Seneca Pow-Wows Farm Bureau Advisory Groups. She served on the Seneca Township Election Board for many years.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan 22, 2003, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with the Rev. Conrad Sutter officiating. Burial will take place in St. Nicholas Catholic cemetery immediately following the Mass.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the Mass at the church. A wake service will take place at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Nicholas Rosary Altar Society, the Catholic Knights of Ohio Vocation Fund, or to a charity of the donor's choice in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Kenneth L. Butzier

Kenneth L. Butzier, 88, of TR 36, Kansas, died at 11:45 a.m. Sunday at his home.

He was born Nov. 8, 1914, in Jackson Township, Seneca County, to Albert and Ruby (Zimmerman) Butzier.

He married Evelyn Baker Aug. 25, 1972, at the Kansas United Methodist Church in Kansas.

Surviving are: his wife, Evelyn Baker-Butzier of Kansas; a step daughter, Mrs. Edward (Barbara) Dow of Burgoon; a brother, Verlin Butzier of Fremont; step grandchildren, Brenna Blymyer and Scott Dow, both of Burgoon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lester, Carl, Ellis and Cecil Butzier; and two sisters, Rosella Haubert and Edna Robinson.

Mr. Butzier was a 1934 graduate of Bettsville High School. He was a self-employed farmer all of his life.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. Ivan Schwenn officiating. Burial will be in Kansas cemetery in Kansas.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Kansas United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Michael B. Whitacker

Michael B. Whitacker, 36, of CR 34, Green Springs, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 31, 1966, in Fremont, to Burley and Shirley (Marshall) Whitacker. They survive in Clyde. He married Gail (Valentine) Whitacker May 13, 1990. She survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Cory Whitacker; a daughter, Chelesee Whitacker, both of Green Springs; two sisters, Mary Nycum and Jodi Hackworth, both of Clyde.

Family services were conducted. Burial was in McPherson cemetery.

Arrangements were made by the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde.

Christopher Donnenwirth

Christopher A. Donnenwirth, 46, a resident of Finnwood Home in Carey, died at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

He was born May 17, 1956, in St. Clair County, Ill., to James M. and Patricia A. (Stout) Donnenwirth. His mother survives in Shelby.

Also surviving are two brothers, Scott and Steve, both of Shelby.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oakland cemetery in Carey. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.

Neil R. Beard

Neil R. Beard, 75, of 878 State Highway 67 North, Sycamore, died 6:25 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

He was born on Nov. 3, 1927, in Wyandot County, to Mont and Esther (Feightner) Beard. They are deceased. He married Martha L. (Brewer) Beard on March 23, 1957, she survives.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Penny) Buckingham of Cook, Minn.; one granddaughter, Miss Amanda Buckingham of Cook, Minn.; three brothers, Mr. Kenneth Beard of rural Sycamore, Mr. Arthur Beard of Bonita Springs, Fla. and Mr. Dale Beard of rural Sycamore; two sisters, Mrs. Bonette Ward of Sycamore and Mrs. Leahbelle Miller of rural Sycamore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mont and Esther Beard; two brothers, William Beard and Leonard Beard.

Mr. Beard was a farmer and also owned and operated Beard's Greenhouse in Sycamore. He also worked at Sycamore Mill and Supply. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

He was a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Sycamore American Legion Post 250; Upper Sandusky Eagles 2184 and Odd Fellows Lodge 174 of Melmore.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wyandot County Heart Support Group, American Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Marie (Sauber) Wilson

Marie (Sauber) Wilson, 99, of Delphos, died 8:58 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003 at Van Crest Health Care Center.

She was born Oct. 8, 1903, in Landeck to the late Nicholas and Matilda (Elasser) Sauber. She married Burgan Wilson on June 9, 1924. He died on May 29, 1972.

Surviving are: four sons, Robert Wilson of Manistee, Mich., Eugene Wilson of Beaver Creek, Frank "Nick" Wilson of Delphos and Michael Wilson of Plant City, Fla.; four sisters, Maxine Link of Delphos, Marilyn Otte of Delphos, Katherine Campanile of Beaver Creek and Carolyn Masten of Las Vegas, Ohio; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Evangelistic Church. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Harter and Son Funeral Home in Delphos. There will be a Parish Wake at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kenneth W. Spencer

Kenneth W. spencer, 89, formerly of 101 W. Main St., Vanlue died 10:32 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Grand Court in Findlay.

He was born May 25, 1913, in Jacksonburg, W.Va., and raised by A.B. and Ada Spencer. He married Naomi L. Crew on June 27, 1936, in Harrisville, W.Va. She died on March 9, 2000.

Surviving are: three sons, James of Medina, Darrell of Willshire and William of Fort Mill, S.C.; six daughters, Donna Arthur of Albuquerque, N.Mex., Esther King of Findlay, Patricia Braselton of Lee's Summit, Mo., Sandra Reilly of Colbert, Ga., Julia Harden of Fostoria and Joy Mills of Vanlue; 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a brother, A.C. Spencer of Massillon.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene in Carey. Burial will be in Zion Bloom cemetery in Vanlue.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Carl Vernon Wheatley

Carl Vernon Wheatley, 79, of Hamilton, Texas, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Forrest Ridge Care Center.

He was born Feb. 20, 1923, in Columbus, to the late Vernon and Lillian (Strausbough) Wheatley.

Surviving are: three sons, Carl Martin Wheatley of Ogden, Utah, Robert Wheatley and Michael Wheatley, both of Texas; a daughter, Shirley Ann Wheatley of Fresno, Calif. and two brothers, Richard A. Wheatley of Fresno, Calif. and Jerald Wheatley of Tiffin.

Mr. Wheatley was a World War II veteran.

There will be no funeral or visitation. The body was cremated. Burial was in Dallas-Fort Worth National cemetery.

The Lacy Funeral Home in Stephenville, Texas was in charge of the arrangements.
