Carl J. Elchert
Carl J. Elchert, 76, of 1000 Independence Ave., Fostoria, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Independence House in Fostoria.
He was born Feb. 24, 1926, in New Riegel, to Joseph and Magnalina (Karch) Elchert. He never married
.
Surviving are: two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Isabell A.) Bumb of Alvada and Mrs. Richard (Rita) Steyer of Largo, Fla.; special friend, Kathleen Mary Mosier; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Magnalina Elchert; brothers and sisters, Florence Marie Elchert, Eugene Elchert, Louie (Irene) Elchert, Paul (Freda) Elchert, Mrs. William (Agnes) Piper and Mrs. Harold (Cordillia) Sendelbach.
Mr. Elchert was a 1944 graduate of New Riegel High School. He was an assembler at General Electric for 39 years.
He was a member of Moose Lodge 1567 and Eagles, both of Fostoria, American Legion Post 354 of New Riegel. He was also a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Mr. Elchert was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Leonard Kistler officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface cemetery with Military graveside service conducted by the American Legion 354 of New Riegel.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. A Wake Service will be 3 p.m. Friday and the New Riegel American Legion Service will be 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. A Rosary Service will at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church, American Heart Association or American Cancer Society of Seneca County.
Mary Margaret Kisseberth
Mary Margaret Kisseberth, 89, of Elmwood Nursing Home, Green Springs, died at 7:25 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002. She was born in Tiffin on May 6, 1913 to William C. and Margaret (McClory) Barto. On June 30, 1931 she married
Roscoe Paul Kisseberth in McCutchenville, he died Jan. 19, 1991.
Survivors include: a son, Paul Barto Kisseberth of Stamford, CT.; a sister, Linabelle Barto Beach of Fairfax. VA; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Services at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003 at Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall. There will be no burial.
Visitation hours are from 10-11:15 a.m. prior to the service. Turner-Engle Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Jesse M. Spreng
Jesse M. Spreng, 92, of Our House, E. Perry St., Tiffin, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 at Ruffing Care Center.

Shirley E. Eidt
Shirley E. Eidt, 73, of 849 N. Water St., Apt. 102, Tiffin, died at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. She was born in Fremont on July 20, 1929 to Vernon K. and Ruth (Musselman) Solze. On December 7, 1949 she married
Junior L. Eidt in Seneca County, he died June 3, 2001.
Surviving include: six children, Mrs. Robert (Diana) Wise of Tiffin, Patricia Gooding of Tiffin, Gail Eidt of Tiffin, Gary Eidt of Holland, MI., Dennis Eidt of Holland, MI., and Jeffrey Eidt of Tiffin; three brothers, Richard Solze of Florida, Wayne Solze of South Carolina, and Charles Solze of Utah; two sisters, Wanda Houdensell of Benton, OH and Arlene Gurski of Canfield, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mrs. Eidt was a graduate of Sycamore High School Class of 1948. A waitress for 40 years at local restaurants starting at the Shawhan and retiring from Secrets. She loved playing cards and was an avid golfer and bowler.
Services at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003 at Turner-Engle Funeral Home with The Pastor James Michaels officiating. Burial at Seneca Memory Gardens at a later date.
Visitation hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and/or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Yvonne Nemeth
Yvonne (Mansfield) Nemeth, 81, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, in Phoenix.
She was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Fostoria, to Clyde and Dorothy (Calhoun) Mansfield.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Jean) Ash of Bettsville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Fred (Deborah) Doidge of Arizona; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.
Services were Jan. 4 in Phoenix.
James T. Harris
James T. Harris, 71, of Fostoria, died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 at Fostoria Community Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Lloyd 'Fritz' Fruth
Lloyd "Fritz" Fruth, 87, of Goerlich Center 5320 Harroun Rd., Sylvania, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2003. Turner-Engle Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Eldon L. Scheid
Eldon L. Scheid, 78, of 17 Fulton St., Tiffin, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at his home.
He was born March 10, 1926, in Bellevue, to Edwin and Olive (Heyman) Scheid. He married
Nancy A. (Aubry) Scheid at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin Jan. 13, 1951. She survives in Tiffin.
Also surviving are: sons and daughters-in-law, Gary A. and Helen Scheid of Chicago, Ill., Mark E. and Myla Scheid of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Janet E. Scheid of Tiffin; sons and daughters-in-law, James M. and Laura Scheid of Delaware, Ronald J. and Mary Scheid of Havelock, N.C.; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and a brother, Ronald Scheid of Shelby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Olive Scheid, and a sister, Lorene Reese.
Mr. Scheid was a Monroeville High School graduate and Tiffin University graduate. He was retired owner and partner of S & S Variety Club Beverages, Inc. He also worked for Seneca Hills Golf Course for 12 years and was an avid golfer.
Mr. Scheid was a member of First Lutheran Church, AMVETS Post 48, Senior Citizens Center and Tiffin Rifle Club.
He was a U.S. Air Force pilot serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. Margaret M. Marks officiating. Entombment will be in Seneca Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with military graveside service conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation will be 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Richard M. 'Dick' Stark
Richard M. "Dick" Stark, 80, of 313 Independence Ave., Fostoria, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 8, 1922, in Fostoria, to James H. and Estella (Todd) Stark. He married
Lois M. (Bates) Stark, in Tiffin, Oct. 17, 1947. She survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are: two sisters, Norma Strausbaugh of Findlay and Bonnie Smith of Fostoria; nieces and nephews.
Mr. Stark served during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Emma Pillars Garden of Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, where the United Veterans of Fostoria will conduct military honors.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the Eagles will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m.
Treva M. (Miller) Perkins
Treva M. (Miller) Perkins, 90, of 41 Walker St., Tiffin, died 12:10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at her residence.
She was born July 31, 1912, in Lasalle County, Ill., to Alfred and Irma (Tusing) Miller.
She married
Roy L. Perkins on Jan. 29, 1930. He died March 21, 1971.
Surviving are: two sons, Raymond L. Perkins of Tiffin and Marvin L. (Carolyn) Perkins of Albuquerque, N.M.; five daughters, Dolores Agerter of Tiffin; Phyllis (Norbert) Raitz of Mesquite, Texas, Ruth (Joseph) Rospert, Shirley Kear and Sharon O'Nan, all of Tiffin; 27 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a step-grandchild; two brothers, Richard (Faye) Miller of Ventura, Calif., and Forrest (Eva) Miller of Berlin, Wis.; three sisters, Kathryn Sherman and Margaret (Gerald) Price, both of Tiffin, Vonda Jean Gebauer of Fostoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Irma Miller; two sons, Daryl and Dwight Perkins; a daughter, Mary Alice Nominee; two brothers, Clyde Miller and Miles Miller; two sisters, Helen Miller and Nina Miller.
Mrs. Perkins was retired from U.S. Glass and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Tiffin. She loved to crochet, fish and be in the outdoors. She was a great lady.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, with the Rev. Scott Hayward officiating. Burial will be in Green Springs cemetery in Green Springs.

Mary Kay Bogner
Mary Kay Bogner, 41, of 308 Elm Ave., Tiffin, died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at her residence.
She was born June 1, 1961, in Sodus, N.Y., to Pastor Virgil and Joann (Balmer) Cole of Tiffin.
Also surviving are: two sons, Steven Lee Bogner of Willard and Ben Arl Bogner of Tiffin; a daughter, Blair May Bogner of Willard; two brothers, David Cole of New Washington and Stephen Cole of Tiffin; two sisters, Rebecca King of Tiffin and Esther Chaney of Bloomville.
A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Woodlawn cemetery in Tiffin.
There will be no visitation.
F. Louis 'Louie' Seitz
F. Louis "Louie" Seitz, 80, of 2665 E. CR 36, Tiffin, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

Francis Louis Seitz
Francis Louis "Louie" Seitz, 80, who resided with his daughter at 2665 E. CR 36, Tiffin, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born March 20, 1922, in Tiffin, to the late Herman and Rose (Dendinger) Seitz. He was raised by his stepmother, Rose Ball Seitz. On June 7, 1947, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married
Anna Lou Dryfuse. She preceded him in death Feb. 27, 1990.
Surviving are four children, Bradley R. (Ann) Seitz of Tiffin, Rick (Joyce) Seitz of Fremont and Kim (John) Bloomfield and Shelly (Tim) Felter, both also of Tiffin; two brothers, Walter and his twin brother, Herman J. Seitz, both of Tiffin; 11 grandchildren, Jeff Seitz, Nicole Crabtree, Ryan Seitz, Kari Mezinger, Jodi Stacy, Tony Seitz, Brian, Scott and Kelli Bloomfield and Haley and Nicholas Felter; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Seitz, Drew Crabtree, Austin and Kaine Mezinger and Karter Seitz; and his faithful dog Rudy.
A daughter, Robin Seitz; and a brother, Robert Seitz, are deceased.
A 1940 Calvert High School graduate, Mr. Seitz worked at Madison Motors from 1946-1996 as part owner and tow truck driver. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II in the South Pacific.
A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. James K. Say officiating. The rosary will be prayed at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Marian L. Gauff
Marian L. Gauff, 92, of Sandusky CR 175, Clyde, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Susan Jane Burr.
She was born Nov. 15, 1910, in Illinois, to the late Clyde and Carolyn (Ferrers) Errett. She married
William Edward Gauff, who died in 1959.
Surviving are: a son William Gauff of Apple Valley, Minn.; a daughter, Susan Burr of Clyde; three grandchildren and a sister, Jane Thompson Dean of Morris, Ill.
There will be no funeral or visitation.

Robert Ray Smith
Robert Ray Smith, 85,of 1932 Queenswood Dr., Findlay, died 8:03 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, in Winebrenner Village, Findlay.
He was born on Jan. 11, 1918, in Fostoria, to Ray E. and Ada M. (Martin) Smith.
He married
Martha Louise (France) Smith in Fostoria on Nov. 7, 1941. She survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Rick Smith of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three grandchildren, Brian Smith, Steven Smith and Susan Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ada Smith.
Mr. Smith was a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church; former financial secretary of Christ Church United Methodist Church; former Boy Scouts of America and chairman of the troop committee; served on the budget committee of the United Way of Hancock County; President of Country Club Condo Association. He was a member of Gateway Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Findlay.
Mr. Smith graduated from Fostoria High School and Tiffin University, where he was a member of the Varsity Basketball Team. He retired from AEP (American Electric Power) in 1981 as western division office manager, after 43 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from May 1942 through December 1945 in Duluth, Minn., as aide to captain of the port and also in the Aleutian Islands. He was recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, American Area Campaign Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home in Findlay, with the Rev. Ben Borsay officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens cemetery, east of Findlay.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Laurel M. Linn
Laurel M. Linn, 86, of 7365 E. Twp. Rd. 44, Bloomville, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 14, 2003, at his home after an illness of several months.
He was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Bloomville, to Lusk M. and Elizabeth (Shock) Linn. He married
Harriet E. Martin on Aug. 2, 1942, in Tiffin. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1988.
Surviving are: a son, Lyle (Carol) Linn of Bloomville; a daughter, Mrs. Rebecca (Donald) Frankart of Bloomville; five grandchildren, Todd C. Frankart of Bloomville, Tracy L. Brown of Attica, Angie S. Frankart of Tiffin, Tammy J. Harer of Bloomville, Sandra K. Koehler of Sycamore; two great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters; a sister, Catherine Zellner of Jupiter, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles and a daughter, Barbara.
Mr. Linn worked as a dairy farmer for most of his life.
He was member of the St. Johns Baseline United Church of Christ near Bloomville, the Seneca County Farm Bureau, former Bloom Community Grange member, and a former 4=H advisor, a member of the American Guernsey Assoc., and an avid card player.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at 11 a.m., at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19 Bloomville, with the Rev. Jan Kucera officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in Bloomville.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, Jan. 16, 2003, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care in Tiffin.
