Maxine L. Snyder

Maxine L. Snyder, 69, of CR 35, Sycamore, died 4 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at her home.

She was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Morrow County, to the late Elza and Elsie (Kincaid) Pritchard. She married Buron Snyder, in New Winchester, on March 5, 1961. He survives.

Also surviving are: three sons, Jerry Snyder of South Rockwood, Ind., Paul Snyder of Sycamore and David Snyder of Bluefield, W.Va.; a daughter, Mary Lieb of Norwalk; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Rose Mary Fiedler of LaRue, Evelyn Pritchard of Largo, Fla. and Linda McDaniel of Elkhart, Ind.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sycamore United Methodist Church in Sycamore. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation will be 4-7 Tuesday at the Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

L. Wayne Basinger

L. Wayne Basinger, 79, of North Union Street, Fostoria, died 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

He was born May 20, 1923, in Pandora, to Leslie and Luella (Weber) Basinger. He married Clara E. (Iler) Basinger Jan. 12, 1947, in Fostoria. She died April 2, 1994.

Surviving are: two sons, John and Scott Basinger, both of Fostoria; a daughter, Bonnie Basinger of Fostoria; a brother, Dr. Robert Basinger of Florida; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery in West Millgrove, with military honors by the Fostoria Joint Veterans Group.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marlene T. Meyer

Marlene T. Meyer, 60, of 1548 S. SR 53, Tiffin, died 5:38 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at her daughter's house at 36 St. Clair Street.

She was born Aug. 21, 1942 in Republic, to Ralph and Olive (Yeisley) Shere. She married Lothar M. Meyer on Dec. 21, 1963, in Republic. He died July 12, 2001.

Surviving are: three sons, Kenneth Meyer and Dean Meyer, both of Toledo, and Jerry Meyer of Tiffin; a daughter, Crystal Steele of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Kloss of Fremont.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Knollcrest cemetery in Arcadia.

Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marjorie A. Fiegelist

Marjorie A. Fiegelist, age 73, ended her courageous battle with cancer at the Arthur James Cancer Hospital in Columbus on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002.

She was born on April 5, 1929, to Edwin and Corinne (Leis) Phillips and grew up in rural Monroeville. She then lived in Tiffin after marriage to Wade Fiegelist on July 7, 1951, at St. Sebastian Church in Bismark, Ohio.

Surviving with her husband are sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Ida Fiegelist of Hilliard, Ohio, Gerald and Shawn Fiegelist of Columbus, Ohio; her daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Jim Gosche of Fostoria, Diane and Dave Martien of Tiffin and Linda and Chris Rickert of Greenville, S.C.; six granddaughters, a grandson, 15 nieces and nephews as well as a sister, Alice Siesel of Bismark and a brother, Leonard Phillips of Bellevue also survive.

Her parents and a sister, Anita Reinhart of Bascom preceded her in death.

She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, belonging to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Mothers Study Club, the Rosary Altar Society and the Josephines. She was a reliable asset to the St. Joseph Parish Festival and card parties.

She was a frequent donor of goods at Sorrowful Mother Shrine bake sales. Her memberships also included the American Legion and the V.F.W. Auxiliaries. Mrs. Fiegelist was a 1947 Bellevue High School graduate.

Mrs. Fiegelist principal occupation was a homemaker. In addition, she was employed by Flecks Easter Egg Dye and a longtime Board of Elections poll worker. She also worked at the General Electric Lamp Plant in Bellevue.

A longtime member of the Mother of Twins Club, she was honored as Mother of the Year in 1972. She was a Den Mother and a 4-H advisor in support of her children's participation. As a member of The Ohio Polka Booster's Association, she provided partnership to her husband at many dances and festivals.

Friends may call today 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. A Christian wake service will be at 3:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. James K. Say as celebrant. The rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, FACT and the organizations which will miss her.

Richard Edwin Feucht

Richard Edwin Feucht, 48, formerly of Florida and Fostoria, died at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.

He was born Aug. 6, 1954, in Findlay, to Robert L. Feucht Sr. and Marlene C. (Brion) Kline. He married Jean Souder. They were divorced.

Survivors include: his father, Robert Feucht of Carey; a son, Allen; three brothers, Robert L. Feucht Jr. of Fostoria, Terry E. Feucht of Oklahoma and Todd E. Feucht of Florida; four sisters, Ruth Ann Fore of Florida, Rachelle S. Nellums of North Carolina, Roberta M. Mauk of Oregon, Ohio, and Sandra K. Burley of Fostoria; stepfather, Thomas Kline of Gibsonburg; stepmother, Diane Feucht of Carey.

Graveside services will be announced at a later date.

The Mann-Hare Funeral Home, in Fostoria, is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth Washburn

Ruth Rose Lepard Washburn, 92, died in her sleep in San Diego, Calif., Nov. 21, 2002. Ruth was born on the family farm west of Attica, on Stump Pike, June 8, 1910, to Ira Hill and Jenny Leota (Alter) Lepard.

Ruth married Walter J.H. Washburn and is survived by a son, John W. Washburn of Vernal, Utah; and a daughter, Ruth W. Rollins of Henderson, Nev.

She is survived by a sister, Vivian Bloom, 100, of Radford, Va.; a brother, Clarence, 96, of Manheim, Pa.; and a brother, Russell, 89, of New Iberia, La. Also surviving are three granddaughters, a great-granddaughter; six step grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren; and two step great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, George, Ransom, Charles and Keith Lepard; two sisters, Mary Whirl and Emma; her husband; and an infant daughter, Mercy.

After the death of her mother, Ruth cared for her father and brothers at the family farm and purchased it after the death of her father. It has been in the family for more than 145 years. Later, she worked for Pioneer Rubber Co. for more than 20 years.

Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Attica and taught Sunday school for many years. Before moving to San Diego in 1998, she was a member of the DAR, Just Friends Club, and the Rebekah Lodge 900. It should also be noted that she was a survivor of breast cancer for more than 50 years.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Dec. 10 at the Attica Baptist Church. A meal will be served following the service. The family will scatter her ashes in the woods on the family farm in the afternoon.

Dennis W. Burns

Dennis W. Burns, 48, of 212 Benner St., Tiffin, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, in the emergency care center of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born July 21, 1954, in Akron, to the late Margaret C. Brown. He married Goshe Alleman Oct. 5, 1973, in Tiffin. They divorced. He married Denise McFail of Tiffin and they divorced. He married Sandy Martin June 23, 1996. They divorced. She survives in Florida.

Surviving are: two sons, Dennis Burns Jr. and Derek Burns, both of Tiffin; three daughters, Kealy Goodale of Findlay, Kami Garcia of Fostoria and Danielle Burns of Tiffin; three grandchildren; a brother, Harlan Brown of Bryan; a sister, Sarah Donna of Tiffin.

Mr. Burns was a U.S. Army veteran, serving 1975-1978.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic cemetery with Military Graveside Services conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9-9:45 a.m. Thursday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. The rosary will be prayed at 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Harry E. Smelser

Harry E. Smelser, 75, of TR 34, Fostoria, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at his home.

He was born July 12, 1927, in Bettsville, to the late William A. and Mary Eva (Doran) Smelser. He married Verna J. Steiner Dec. 27, 1950, in Amsden.

Surviving are: his wife, Verna Smelser; two sons, Steve Smelser of Walbridge and Larry Smelser of Fostoria; three daughters, Donna and Carla Smelser and April Hartman, all of Fostoria; two brothers, James Smelser of Sandusky and William Smelser of Pleasanton, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. There will be no burial.

There will also be no visitation.

Marie E. Burns

Marie E. Burns, 84, of 239 Johnson St., Marion, died at 2:26 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, in Marion General Hospital. Formerly of Tiffin, she had lived in Marion for 54 years.

She was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Bloomville, to the late William and Bessie (Beatley) Mahoney. On Sept. 3, 1937, in Tiffin, she married Joseph S. Burns. He survives in Marion.

Other survivors include: two sons, Bruce (Cindy) Burns of Marion and Carl (Sue) Burns of Hot Springs, Ark.; a daughter, Cindy Nickolson of Bexley, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jeff (Brandi) Burns of Heyworth, Ill.; Amy (Bill) Walkenbach of Springfield, Ill.; Meg (Cary) Bottorff of Bloomington, Ill.; and Angela (Shannon) Griffith, Sara Burns, Kelle Gabriel and Shane (Stacy) Gabriel, all of Marion; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Kille of Santa Clara, Calif.

A son, William Burns, and two brothers also are deceased.

Mrs. Burns, a graduate of Warner Beauty College in Tiffin, was a licensed beautician. She owned and operated Marie's Beauty Shop in Marion for over 50 years.

She was a member of Eastern Star O.E.S. 83, Kings Daughters and Sons; a charter member of A.B.W.A., and a volunteer at Heritage Hall in Marion. Also a member of Central Christian Church in Marion, its Chapel Class and the Ruth Group, she was head of its nursery department for many years.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in Central Christian Church, with Chaplain Daniel Kiger officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fairmont cemetery, Tiffin.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Boyd Funeral Home, 122 W. Columbia St., Marion, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Eastern Star services will take place Thursday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Christian Church Memorial Fund, Parkinsons Disease Association or the American Lung Association.

Katherine Sorg

Katherine Sorg, 66, of Fremont, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, in the Toledo Hospital.

She was the daughter of Reszo and Maria (Nagy) Lachner. She married Robert Sorg Aug. 16, 1958, in Fremont. He survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Richard D. Sorg of Fremont; two daughters, Mary Ann Kiser and Janet Mills-Piper, both of Fremont; four grandchildren; a sister, Maria Buko of Tiffin; and a brother, Alex Lachner of Fremont.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Fremont. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Fremont.

Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Thursday in the Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home in Fremont, where the Fraternal Order of Eagles will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

Dennis W. Burns

Dennis W. Burns, 48, of 212 Benner St., Tiffin, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, in the emergency care center of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

M. Jane Robey

M. Jane Robey, 83, of 354 W. Spring St., Upper Sandusky, died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 30, 1919, in Crane Township, Wyandot County, to the late Robert J. and Grace E. (Troup) Hehr. She married Everett D. Robey Feb. 10, 1940, in Williamstown, Ky. He died Feb. 16, 1989.

Surviving are: a son, Steven B. Robey of Sunbury; a daughter, Jean A. Hollanshead of Upper Sandusky; two grandsons; four brothers, Charles E. and Richard F. Hehr, both of Upper Sandusky, Robert Hehr Jr. of Manchester, Mich., and James W. Hehr of Columbus; four sisters, Dorothy L. Mouser of Upper Sandusky and Rosalie Lee of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., Rachel Schutt of Naples, Fla., and Carol Madison of Kenton.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Richard Edwin Feucht

Richard Edwin Feucht, 48, formerly of Fostoria, died at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Knollcrest Gardens Chapel in Arcadia.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the chapel.

Arrangements are being handled by Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Tom A. Aldrich

Tom A. Aldrich, 65, of Byron, Ga., formerly of Risingsun, died 3:47 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, in Houston Medical Center, Warner Robins, Ga.

He was born Aug. 31, 1937, in Sandusky Co., to the late Raymond and Fern (Lempke) Aldrich. He married Frances G. (Leapley) Wunderlin-Aldrich. She survives in Byron, Ga.

Also surviving are: a son, Tommy Aldrich of Fostoria, three daughters, Kathi Burton of Lima, Cheryl Dorbin of Fostoria and Vickie Kau of Findlay; a stepson, Jonathon Wunderlin of Salem, Oreg.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Aldrich of Risingsun; two sisters, Mary Ann Evans and Jane Smith, both of Fostoria.

Graveside Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Parish cemetery in Millersville. Burial will be in St. Mary's Parish cemetery.

Mabel V. Parsons

Mabel V. Parsons, 85, 175 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, formerly of Fostoria, died at 9:02 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

She was born June 25, 1917, in Charleston, W.Va., to the late Rome L. and Ellen C. (Deal) Hamilton. On Nov. 21, 1939, in Gattlesburg, Ky., she married Alexis W. Parsons. He survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include: two sons, Michael Lee Parsons of Wayne and Mark Duane Parsons of Bowling Green; two daughters, Mary Ellen Conger of Streetboro, Ohio and Carol Ann Woosley of Ocala, Fla.; six grandchildren, Karen Aichholz, Jeff Conger, Bob Lease Jr., Laura Slogar, Joan Gangelhoff and Cheyenne Parsons; nine great-grandchildren, Sara and Chris Aichholz, Ashley and Joshua Conger, Julia, Jacob and Janelle Gangelhoff and Stephen and Jennifer Slogar; three brothers, Rome Hamilton Jr. of Boyton Beach, Fla., Robert Hamilton of Sun City, Ariz. and Gene Alan Hamilton of Seminole, Fla.; and two sisters, Dorothy Corbin of Dunbar, W. Va. and Audrey Lee Russell of Austin, Texas.

Mrs. Parsons, a bookkeeper at several businesses in Fostoria, also was an Avon representative for over 30 years in the Fostoria Area. She was a member of the Avon Presidential Club and served as regional assistant director for Avon. She also was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Tiffin and its United Methodist Women. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Program in Seneca County.. She was a graduate of Dunbar High School in West Virginia and a business school.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9 in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Scott Blevins officiating. Interment will be in Knollcrest Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Autumnwood Caring Gifts Program, Chapel Fund, 670 E. SR 18, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 or the church, 46 Madison St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883.
