Audrey J. Kimmet
Audrey J. Kimmet, 73, of 304 Kilbourne St., Republic, died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2002, at Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin.
She was born July 29, 1929, in Fostoria to Lee and Gretchen (Ulrich) Lusk. On Feb. 1, 1947, she married
Louis A. Kimmet in Tiffin and he survives.
Also surviving are: five sons, Louis A. Kimmet Jr. of West Lodi, Chuck Kimmet of Republic, Phil Kimmet of Attica, Chip Kimmet of Perrysville, Mo., and Todd Kimmet of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Deana) Reed of Tiffin and Mrs. Ken (Mary) Fortney of Attica; 22 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. June Pelton of Fostoria, and Mrs. Marjorie Slater of Findlay.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Republic and the Republic Lady Lions.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Farewell Retreat cemetery in Republic.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospital, the Heart Fund or to the Kidney Foundation.
Sarah Elizabeth Shultz
Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Shultz, 92, formerly of Valleyview Place, Tiffin, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Elmwood Assisted Living at the Shawhan.
She was born Sept. 29, 1909, in New Castle, Ind., to Joseph B. and Julia M. (Spencer) Weltz. She married
Paul F. Shultz May 29, 1930, in New Castle, Ind. He died Oct. 24, 1983.
Survivors include: a son, Roger A. Shultz of Caldwell, N.J.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her parents and a brother, George Weltz, are also deceased.
She was a 1928 graduate of New Castle High School; attended Tiffin University; was secretary for Auto Club for 4 1/2 years and Culligan Soft Water for 10 years. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 189; a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and Mother's Circle, being a charter member.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home with the Rev. Laurie Hill officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
John L. 'Jack' Snyder
John L. "Jack" Snyder, 81, of 780 E. CR 16, Tiffin, died at 12:15 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, in St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born March 27, 1921, in Tiffin to Walter A. and Florene (Zeis) Snyder. He married
Jean Sterrett March 14, 1942, and she survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Craig G. Snyder of Riley, Mich.; and a grandson, Derek Snyder of New Haven, Conn.
His parents preceded him in death.
He was a 1939 graduate of Sycamore High School; a veteran of World War II being in the Army-Air Force; worked for Meyer Drug Company, Tiffin, for 30 years; and was on the Tiffin Police Department for five years. He was a member of Tiffin Moose Lodge No. 846 and was past president of the Ohio Arabian Horse Association.
Burial will be in Mexico cemetery in Wyandot County. There will be no visitation or funeral.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Tiffin.

Margaret G. Hedrick
Margaret G. "Jennie" Hedrick, 83, formerly of Fostoria, died at 8:12 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, in Fox Run Manor, Findlay.
She was born June 3, 1919, in Midlothian, Md., to Edward and Lula (Conrad) Taylor. She married
Emery Hedrick in August 1952 and he died in June 1993.
Survivors include: two step sons, Allen Thomas of Florida and James Hedrick of Ohio; two daughters, Janice Sobczyk of Naples, Fla., and Sonja L. Combs of Fostoria; a step daughter, Cody Hedrick; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Taylor of Duncanville, Pa.; and a sister, Betty Gibson of Tucson, Ariz.
Funeral will be Wednesday at Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, Md., with burial in Frostburg Memorial Park, Md.
Visitation is 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria; and Tuesday at the Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg.
Frances L. Bowen
Frances L. Bowen, 87, of 59 Sunny Lane, Tiffin, died at 5:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Autumnwood Nursing Home in Tiffin.
She was born April 27, 1915, in Mendota, Ill., to George and Theresa (Frandin) Hessenberger. On June 6, 1948, she married
Donald Bowen. He preceded her in death Oct. 15, 1984.
Surviving are: a son, John and Diane Bowen of Tiffin; a daughter, Kathy and Gregg Emery of Valrico, Fla.; a step-daughter, Barbara and Don Fenwick of Largo, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Hessenberger of Knoxville, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Gerald Hessenberger.
Mrs. Bowen was a retired teacher, having taught home economics at Morton High School in Cicero, Ill., and York High School in Venedocia for 11 years. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Celina; Celina History Club; Huron County Retired Teachers Association; Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the American Association of Retired People.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Celina, with the Rev. Robert Metheny officiating. Burial will be in Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina.
Visitation will be noon until the time of service on Tuesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
The Lehman Funeral Home in Celina is in charge of the arrangements.
Bridia G. Risner
Bridia G. Risner, 85, of 108 E. Main St., Vanlue, died at 6:50 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin.
She was born April 22, 1917, in Salyersville, Ky., to Roscoe and Laura (Hampton) Salyer. On Feb. 28, 1945, she married
Wiley D. Risner. He preceded her in death June 28, 1968.
Surviving are: three sons, Eldon (Becky) Risner of Carey, Daniel Risner of Springfield and William (Ann) Risner of Tiffin; two daughters, Sandra Spiess of Monroe, Mich., and Andrea (John) Logsdon of Tiffin.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Mollie Prater.
Mrs. Risner was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Vanlue and was active in many facets of the church. She was also a member of the Vanlue Senior Citizens.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, with the Rev. Joe Searfoss officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery in Carey.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
Ilene J. Haver
Ilene J. Haver, 71, of Betty Lane, Fostoria, died 11:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at Independence House in Fostoria.
She was born Sept. 19, 1930, in North Baltimore to Lawrence and Irene E. (Miller) Lindenman. On June 28, 1952, she married
Laurence Haver in Fostoria.
Surviving are: her husband, Laurence Haver of Fostoria; a son, Scott Haver of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Suzanne (Robert) Speelman of Findlay; a sister, Mrs. Jane (Nelson) Hazeltine of Chapin, S.C.; two grandchildren, Lauren and Carly Speelman of Findlay.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Irene Lindenman.
Mrs. Haver retired in 1991 as a kindergarten teacher for the Fostoria City Schools, with 30 years of service. She was a 1948 graduate of Fostoria High School and a 1952 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a bachelor of science in education. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Alpha Delta Kappa. Mrs. Haver was named Teacher of the Year in 1984 and became the first recipient of the H.L. Ford Excellence in Education Award. She volunteered with the "Right to Read" Program and Meals on Wheels in Fostoria and was also a Fostoria Redmen Booster member.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. Branson Hawkes officiating. Burial will be in Emma Pillars Garden of Memory in Fostoria's Fountain cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Richard P. Gurney
Richard P. Gurney, 67, of Kenton, died 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at his home.
He was born Feb. 7, 1935, in Sandusky County to Peter and Helen (Overmyer) Gurney. On Dec. 8, 1956, he married
Mary (Lones) Gurney. She survives in Kenton.
Other survivors include: four brothers, Jack Gurney of Clyde, Clifford Gurney of Indianapolis, Ind., Larry Gurney of Sycamore and Thomas Gurney of McComb; three sisters, Shirley Sherman of Fremont, Betty Zollner of Toledo and Mary Waters of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gurney was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1956-1958.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Schindewolf-Stevens-Stout Funeral Home in Kenton. Burial will be in Grove cemetery, Kenton.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Walter P. Schumaker
Walter P. Schumaker, 88, of Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria, died 11:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, in Good Shepherd Home.
He was born Oct. 10, 1913, in Ottawa to the late John and Anna (Maas) Schumaker. On Sept. 26, 1934, he married
Irene K. (Hark) Schumaker in Kalida. She died Dec. 2, 1984.
Surviving are: three sons, Verne Schumaker of California, Norman Schumaker and Gary Schumaker, both of Fostoria; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; four step-sons, Edwin Boff of Gibsonburg, Donald Boff of Fostoria, Thomas Boff of Indianapolis, Ind. and John Boff of Weaverville, N.C.; five step-daughters, Donna Jean Sanders of Shelby, Mrs. Dorene Harden of Port Clinton, Mrs. Geraldine Borer of Tiffin, Mrs. Suellen Decker of Arcadia and Patricia Miller of Clyde; 22 step-grandchildren, 22 step-great-grandchildren and a step-great-great-grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria. A Christian Wake Service will be 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and the Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Ruth Lanell Kelly
Ruth Lanell Kelly, 66, of Beverly, formerly of Carey, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 27, 1936, in Magoffin County, Ky., to Freeman and Beatrice (Hackworth) Sizemore. She married
Carl E. Kelly. They later divorced.
Surviving are: her mother, Beatrice Sizemore of Carey; a son, Gene Shawn Kelly of Carey; six daughters, Cathy Moran, Carol Barnett, Paula Thompson, all of Carey, Pamela Biddle of Upper Sandusky, Teri Compton of Beverly and Tina Murphy of Marion; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Wilma Courtright of McComb.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Carey. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
