Todd Clifford Scott
Todd Clifford Scott, 35, formerly of Sycamore, currently of Coney Island, N.Y., died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, in Bronx, N.Y.
He was born April 18, 1967, in Upper Sandusky, to Irene J. (Scott) Fegley. She survives in Lakeview, Ohio.
Other survivors include: a brother, Mr. Bill E. Fegley of Marion; maternal grandparents, Clifford and June Scott of rural Sycamore; an aunt; uncles and several cousins.
Mr. Scott was a 1985 graduate of Wynford High School. He was employed as a carnival worker, painter and a sheep shearer. He was a hunter and trapper. Mr. Scott attended the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Crestline, Ohio.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore, with the Pastor John Van Horn officiating. Burial will be in Benton cemetery in Crawford County.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Robert G. Goddard
Robert G. Goddard, 67, of North Countyline St., Fostoria, died at 9:27 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2002, at Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born April 4, 1935, in Hamilton, Mo., to the late Wilbur and Lucille (Banks) Goddard. He married
Barbara Allison Welsh Nov. 25, 1956, at the First Presbyterian Church in Fostoria. She survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two sons, Josh and Kyle Goddard, both of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Jordan) Autieri of Findlay and Mrs. Michael (Debora) Reinhart of Fostoria; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Goddard of Fostoria.
Mr. Goddard was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, where military honors will be conducted by the Joint Veterans Group of Fostoria.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, where an Elk's memorial service will be at 7 p.m.
Dustin T. Stover
Dustin T. Stover, 17, of Bucyrus, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Children's Hospital in Columbus.
He was born July 13, 1984, in Galion, to Richard and Debra (Todd) Stover. They survive in Bucyrus.
Also surviving are a brother, Eric Stover of Bucyrus; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Franklin (Peg) Stover of Sycamore; an aunt and 2 uncles.
Services were Monday in the First Church of the Nazarene, Bucyrus. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Bucyrus.
The Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, is in charge of arrangements.
Charles C. 'Sam' Sattler
Charles C. "Sam" Sattler, 66, of 60 N. S.R. 101, Lot 59, Tiffin, died 8:07 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born March 17, 1936, in Springfield to Charles L. and Bernice (Smith) Sattler. On June 28, 1997, he married
Janis (Hale) (James) Sattler on the family farm in Tiffin.
Surviving are: his wife Janis Sattler of Tiffin; a son, Samuel C. Sattler of Las Vegas, Nev.; Samuel's mother, Bonnie (Campbell) Sattler; two brothers, Stephen C. Sattler of Delaware, Ohio and Dr. Scott L. Sattler of Eureka, Calif.
Mr. Sattler lived in Tiffin most of his life and graduated form Clinton Twp. Elementary; Tiffin Columbian, Class of 1954 and the University of Arizona. He retired from Radio Shack after 20 years of service. While working for Radio Shack, he managed the Tiffin store. Mr. Sattler was a 50 year member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a very active member in the church. He was an Eagle Scout and a little league coach for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, in the Army Security Agency.
Funeral will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Mahlmann officiating. There will be no burial at this time.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the church for their bell tower fund.
Frances M. Smith
Frances M. Smith, 75, of Sandusky, died 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at St. John's Westshore Hospital in Westlake.
She was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Albany, Ind., to the late John Eugene and Eunice (Gettys) Harper. Her husband, Charles Smith, died in 1990.
Surviving are: three sons, Kenneth Smith of Loraine, Greg Smith of Fostoria and Jeff Smith of Sandusky; a daughter, Wendy Pilkenton of Huron; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Toft Funeral Home in Sandusky. Burial will be Oakland cemetery, Sandusky.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
The Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
James E. Phillips
James E. Phillips, 81, of 7503 Marion-Melmore Rd., Sycamore, died 11:25 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at home.
He was born Nov. 15, 1920, in Tiffin, to Robert C. and Marie L. (Kopp) Phillips. On Nov. 21, 1943, he married
Louise (Curlis) Phillips. She survives in Sycamore.
Other survivors include: a son, Mr. Roderick Phillips of rural Tiffin; three daughters, Mrs. Rebecca (Edward) Dolinar of Amherst, Ohio, Mrs. Kathy (Jay) Stein of Stony Point, N.Y. and Ann Phillips of Sebago, Maine; six grandchildren, Steven Dolinar, Jeffrey Stein, Katherine Dolinar, Carly Phillips, Maggie Phillips and Elizabeth Stein; his beloved dog, Miffy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Michael Phillips.
Mr. Phillips was a 1940 Sycamore High School graduate. He retired as a caster from American Standard in 1980 after 40 years of service. After retirement, he worked for the Mohawk School System for four years, from 1982-1986. He was a member of the Sycamore United Church of Christ, the Alpha Omega Sunday School Class and the Mohawk Historical Society. Mr. Phillips served in the U.S. Navy during World War II with the Pacific Fleet on board the battleship California.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore, with the Rev. Diane Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore, where a Military graveside service will be conducted by the Sycamore American Legion Post 250.
Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Sycamore United Church of Christ or Hospice of Wyandot County.
David L. Sorenson
David L. Sorenson, 54, of 19000 Lake Rd., Rocky River, Ohio, died 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at the Hospice House in Cleveland.
He was born July 8, 1948, in Findlay, to Lowell and Viola (Peterson) Sorenson. On Aug. 5, 1972, he married
Wanda K. (LaRoche) Sorenson in Findlay. She survives in Rocky River.
Other survivors include: his mother, Viola Sorenson of Tiffin; two sons, Andrew D. and Stephen E. Sorenson, both of Rocky River; a sister, Carol Campbell of Tiffin.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Findlay Evangelical Free Church. Burial will be in Van Horn cemetery, Amanda Township in Hancock Co.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay.
Earl C. Young
Earl C. Young, 84, formerly of 102 E. Fifth St., Sycamore, died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
He was born Nov. 12, 1918, in Wyandot County to Albert and Maysie (Karg) Young, who are deceased.
He was married
Dec. 23, 1950, to Amy L. Hill. She survives, along with three sons, Claude M. Weatherbee of rural Upper Sandusky, Alan C. Young of Lakeview and David L. Young of Leesburg, Ala.; a daughter, Glendora F. Nigh of Howard, Ohio; a sister, Mina Myers of Bradenton, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, 1941-1945, serving in the Aleutian Islands, France and Germany.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore, with burial in Pleasant View cemetery. Visitation will be noon-3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be by American Legion Post 850.
Brenda K. Swisher-Shaull
Brenda K. Swisher-Shaull, 49, of Fostoria died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born June 14, 1953, in Fremont to Owen H. and Cleo V. (Orndorff) Peer. They are deceased.
She is survived by four daughters, Kristye Swisher, Findlay; Amy Woodland, Rachel Dunfee and Sarah Dunfee, all of Fostoria; a son, Jason Swisher, Fostoria; and five grandchildren.
Services will be private and there will be no visitation.
The Mann-Hare Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Virginia Mahony
Virginia Mahony, 87, of Brandon, Fla., passed away on Friday, July 12, 2002.
She was born Aug. 28, 1914, in West Virginia. Virginia retired from Tiffin State Hospital where she was a nursing assistant for many years. Virginia resided in the Tampa Bay area for the past 16 years coming from Tiffin, Ohio.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Bowers and her husband Walter of Brandon, Fla., and Catherine Tiell and husband John of Fremont, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Stowers Funeral Homes and Crematory in Brandon, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
Louis C. Wengert
Louis C. Wengert, 85, of 137 Westwood Dr., died Friday, July 12, 2002, at his home.
The funeral and visitation will be at the Dove, Sharp and Rudical Funeral Home in North Vernon, Ind. Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of the local arrangements.
C. Cameron Moore
Word has been received that Junior Home Kid C. Cameron Moore, 85, of 2525 Westmoreland Dr., Greensboro, N.C., died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at his residence.
He was born in Raleigh, N.C. and spent his childhood at the Junior Order of United American Mechanics National Orphans' Home in Tiffin.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy (Koble) Moore; a daughter, Rhoda Bressler of Bellevue, Wash.; a son, Christopher Moore of Belle Plaine, Minn.; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Memorial services were conducted in Greensboro, N.C.
Bernice Beard Heavlin
Bernice Beard Heavlin, 62, of CR 27, Bellevue, died Thursday, July 11, 2002, in Memorial Hospital, Fremont.
She was born Aug. 23, 1939, in Attica to Clinton J. and Myrtle Blanche (Rodegeb) Beard who are both deceased. She married
George Heavlin who is also deceased.
Survivors include: two brothers, Gurney Beard of Tiffin and Robert Beard of Fostoria; and four sisters, Elda Sharp, Betty Peck and Donna McCoy of Tiffin, and Blanche Lewis of Wellston, Mich.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with interment in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.
Terry Van Nette
Terry Van Nette, 56, of Longwood, Fla., died Friday, July 5, 2002.
He was born July 23, 1945, to Adair and Roberta Van Nette who are deceased.
Survivors include: his wife, Linna Piersol Van Nette, of Longwood, Fla.; two brothers, Adair and Randy of Panama City Beach, Fla.; and nieces and a nephew.
He was a Navy veteran who served two tours in Viet Nam.
There will be private memorial service in Key West, Fla.
Kathryn M. Walker
Kathryn M. Walker, 83, of 60 N. SR 101, Lot 130, Tiffin, died 10:30 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, at home.
She was born Dec. 29, 1918, in Seneca County, to Ernest and Ethel (Wagner) Wilkinson. She married
Claude K. Walker Nov. 23, (Thanksgiving Day), 1944, in Tiffin. He died Dec. 13, 1992.
Survivors include: a son, Mr. Kenneth R. (Ruthi) Walker of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Marilyn (Steven) Kleinhenz and Mrs. Suzi (Dennis) Fraley, both of Tiffin; a step-daughter, Mrs. Donna Jean (William) Smart of Wolcottville, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Jane (Dale) Oakleaf of Green Springs; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Ann Ohl.
Mrs. Walker lived in the Tiffin area all of her life and attended Tiffin City Schools. She worked for Kresge's, Brinnon's, Terry Tyler Clothing Store. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and the Women's Circle at the church.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m Tuesday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ or the American Heart Association.
Kevin Michael Cole
Kevin Michael Cole, 16, 7426 S. Seneca CR 35, Attica, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 11, 2002, at Put-In-Bay.
He was born June 18, 1986, in Tiffin, to David E. and Carol E. (Gillig) Cole. His parents survive in Attica.
Other survivors include: two sisters, Tesia (William) Ricker of Columbia, S.C., and Kelly Marie Cole of Attica; paternal grandparents, Virgil and JoAnn Cole of Tiffin; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Martha and Joseph A. Gillig.
Kevin was a student at Seneca East High School in Attica, where he would have been a sophomore. When first diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy, Kevin volunteered and was chosen as a participant in a program at Ohio State University under Dr. Jerry Mendel, doing studies in seeking a cure for Muscular Dystrophy. He was a member of Pillar of Faith Church in Tiffin and had been a member of the Boy Scouts of America, as well as Victory 4-H Club. He enjoyed drawing and using his artistic abilities. He also enjoyed his dog "Rascal," car racing, video games, movies and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. Kevin spent many hours camping and fishing.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pillar of Faith Church, with the Rev. Dallas Bryan officiating. Burial will be in Attica-Venice cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Home, 1295 W. Tiffin St., Attica.
