James R. Niver
James R. Niver, 74, of 8386 E. TR 106, Bloomville, died Friday, June 21, 2002, at Hillside Acres Nursing Home, Willard.
He was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Norwalk to Norman and Verna (Summers) Niver. He married
Mildred Potts Jan. 16, 1954. She died Jan. 18, 1988. He later married
Alma Ball Weisenauer and they are divorced. She survives in Tiffin.
Survivors include: a son, Michael D. Niver of Bloomville; a daughter, Mrs. Evalyn (Donald E.) Miller of Bloomville; six grandchildren, Mrs. Karla (Matthew) Davis of Richmond, Ind., Mrs. Regina (John) Price of Bloomville, Rebecca Miller of Tiffin, James Miller of Bloomville, Katie Niver of Holland, Fla., and Olivia Marie Niver of Greencove Springs, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Kendra and Rachel Davis of Richmond, Ind., and Samantha Hinton of Tiffin; three brothers, Donald Niver of Arizona, Richard Niver of California and Ralph Niver of Washington.
Mr. Niver worked for RR Donnelley in Willard as a shipping clerk, retiring in 1989. He was also an Army veteran, a 1944 graduate of Willard High School, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tiffin, a former member of Attica Lions Club and RR Donnelley Club.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. Gary Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Centerton cemetery, Centerton.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Gerald C. Fuerstenau
Gerald C. Fuerstenau, 52, of 719 E. High St., Fostoria, died 2:15 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2002, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
He was born Sept. 26, 1949, in Fostoria, to Otto C. and Mary E. (Black) Fuerstenau. He married
Sandy Wagner (now Bugner) Dec. 10, 1980. They are divorced. She survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include: his mother, Mary Fuerstenau of Fostoria; three sons, Jerry Charles Fuerstenau, Kirk Leroy Fuerstenau, both of Fostoria, and Jason A. Fuerstenau of Tiffin; three sisters, Jeanne M. Fuerstenau, Belinda R. Stahl, Deanne B. Fuerstenau, all of Fostoria; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Fuerstenau was a U.S. Army veteran.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, with military graveside rites conducted by the United Veterans of Fostoria.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Cleo Abrahamson
Cleo (Collins) Abrahamson, 57, of 33 Jefferson St., Bloomville, died Friday, June 21, 2002, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 28, 1944, to the late Hargus and Shirley Mae Risner.
She married
Marvin A. Collins Nov. 24, 1961, in Kentucky.
Survivors include: three sons, Marvin A. Collins, Jeffrey S. Collins and Gregory A. Collins, all of Bloomville; three daughters, Melinda Collins, Julia Cole and Glenna Collins, all of Bloomville; five sisters, Shirley Fulton, Wilma Castle, Lina Rank, Jewlene Fidler and Anna Barnet, all of Shelby.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn cemetery in Bloomville.
Visitation will be 1:15-2 p.m. at the cemetery.
Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home is charge of the arrangements.
Susan Garnet Hilkens
Susan Garnet Hilkens, 92, of Woodland Avenue, Fremont, (formerly of Fostoria), died 6:55 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2002, at the Valley View Healthcare Center in Fremont, where she was a resident.
She was born Dec. 10, 1909, in New Straitsville, Ohio, to Charles and Susan (Babbs) McClellan. She married
Raymond Lohr Feb. 3, 1933, in Fostoria. He died. She married
William J. Hilkens April 10, 1944, in Fostoria. He died Dec. 2, 1992.
Surviving are a daughter, Regina Wilson of Norwalk, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Margaret E. Engler
Margaret E. Engler, 83, of Fostoria, died at 9:40 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, at her home.
She was born July 9, 1919, in Clyde, to H.C. and Iva (Walton) Volkmer. She married
Army Major Howard A. Engler Oct. 6, 1945, in Munich, Germany. He died March 19, 1985.
Surviving are: a son, James H. Engler of Lake Wylie, S. C.; a brother, Charles Volkmer of Fostoria; two sisters, Dora Madden of Sun City, Fla., and Donna Landsberg of Tampa, Fla.; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of the arrangements.
Joe Ann Swinehart
Joe Ann Swinehart, 73, of Elmwood Ave., Fostoria, died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, at her home.
She was born May 29, 1929, in Bloomdale to Charles and Zella (Slotterbeck) Bohring. She married
George D. Swinehart Aug. 17, 1949, in Fostoria. He died Aug. 26, 1986.
Surviving are: a son, George Swinehart of Pyongtaek, South Korea; two daughters, Nancy Ferguson of Fostoria and Margene Gonyer of Tiffin; two brothers, Leo Bohring of Port Clinton and Raymond Bohring of Bloomdale; a sister, Edna Sliffe of Fostoria; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A memorial service for Suzanne J. McDole will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity United Church of Christ with the Rev. John Chowning officiating.

Briana Lynette Massey
Briana Lynette Rose Massey was stillborn Sunday, June 23, 2002, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
Surviving are: her father, Carl Ray Massey Jr. of Upper Sandusky and her mother, DeNel Rose Mattox of Tiffin; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; maternal grandmother, Neli Mattox of Tiffin; paternal grandparents, Carl Ray Massey Sr. of Upper Sandusky and Tamara Grande of Nevada; step paternal grandmother, Michelle Mardis of Upper Sandusky.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph cemetery with the Rev. Frank Murd officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Ethel A. Hartschuh
Ethel A. Hartschuh, 89, of 27 Dunbilt Court, Mansfield, died Monday, June 24, 2002, at her home.
She was born April 29, 1913, in Seneca County to Isaac and Etta (Gambee) Revert. She marred Robert L. Spencer. Following his death, she then married
Marvin Hartschuh; he also preceded her in death.
Surviving are: three step sons, Dwight Hartschuh, Paul Hartschuh and Ivan Hartschuh, all of Sycamore; two daughters, Helen Laux of Mansfield and Sharon Ann Spencer of Mt. Vernon; two step daughters, Joyce Frichner and Ruth Ann Kalb, both of Sycamore; three grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren; and 26 step great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Main Street United Methodist Church in Mansfield. Burial will be in Attica Venice cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Services in Attica.
Clair M. Huss
Clair M. Huss, 85, of 108 Catherine St., Green Springs, died at 4:39 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2002, at Fremont Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 15, 1917, in Bloomville Township, to James R. and Eliza Ann (Roe) Huss. He married
Marion (Pontius) Huss in Willard Nov. 18, 1950. She survives at their home in Green Springs.
Surviving are: three sons, Ronald Huss and Monte Huss, both of Fremont, and Brian Huss of Cleveland Heights; and six grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Engle-Young Funeral Home in Green Springs. Burial will be in St. Jacob's cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Albert C. Greenwald
Albert C. Greenwald, 81, 49 1/2 Adams St., Tiffin, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2002, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born Oct. 13, 1920, in Tiffin, to the late Fred and Sofhia (Walters) Greenwald. His wife, Mary Alice (Estep) Greenwald, whom he married
Oct. 11, 1956, in Clyde, survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Alfred Greenwald of Tiffin, Joseph Greenwald of Fostoria and Henery Greenwald of Woodville; three daughters, Linda Halcomb, Ruth Ann Greenwald and Joan Greenwald, all of Tiffin; two stepsons, Paul Young of Tiffin and Eugene Young of Amsden; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Peter Greenwald of Florida and Robert Greenwald of Tiffin; and a sister, Lousia McCray, also of Tiffin.
A brother, George Greenwald, is deceased.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Greenwald retired from Whirlpool Corp. in 1987. He lived in Tiffin all his life.
The service will be at noon Thursday, June 27 in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with Brother Watson Combs officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Gordon W. Heckerd
Gordon W. Heckerd, 83, of 108 Kilbourne St., Republic, died Monday afternoon, June 24, 2002, at Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin.
He was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Bloomville, to Darrel and Bertha (Biller) Heckerd. He married
Kathryn Echelberry on Sept. 1, 1940, in Tiffin. She survives in Republic.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Sue Ellen (Jack) Kies of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and Mrs. Rosalyn (Gary) Fey of Tiffin; a son, Dennis Heckerd of Bloomville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Helen (Richard) Denkhaus of Canton, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Kay Heckerd in 2001; two brothers, Marion and Neil Heckerd; a sister, Dorothy Price.
Mr. Heckerd was a forty-three year employee of National Machinery in Tiffin, retiring as a millwright in 1984.
He was a member of the Republic United Church of Christ in Republic, a 1937 graduate of Scipio-Republic High School; member of the National Machinery Quarter Century Club; WW II Marine Corp. Veteran and member of the Wade Benfer American Legion Post 404 in Republic.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Republic United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Jeff King officiating. Burial will be in Farewell Retreat cemetery in Republic. The Wade Benfer American Legion Post will conduct Military Graveside Services.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 South SR 19, Bloomville. The Quarter Century Club will have visitation at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Wilma Violet Rogers
Wilma Violet Rogers, 88, of 690 E. TR 122 Tiffin, (formerly of Scott, Ohio), died 10:51 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2002, at Ruffing Family Care Center in Tiffin.
She was born Aug. 19, 1913, at her home place in Scott, Ohio, to the late William A. and Emma Viola (Fry) Fox. She married
Carlos Doyt Rogers on Aug. 31, 1935 in Convoy, Ohio. He survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Sandy J. (Morris) Colter of Tiffin; two grandchildren, Cheryl (Tom) Wahl of Tiffin and Mark (Janie) Colter of Hendersonville, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren, Sara Wahl of Tiffin, Matthew and Elsie Colter of Hendersonville, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by a brother in infancy; five sisters, Iva Black, Hazel Martin, Opal Evans and two in infancy.
Mrs. Rogers was a graduate of Union Center High School and a homemaker. She attended the Asbury Methodist Church and was active in the W.S.C.S. Group and served as a Sunday School teacher. She also attended the Union Center Church.
Funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Cowan and Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, Ohio, with the Rev. Russell Gumm officiating. Burial will be in Blue Creek cemetery in Paulding County.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer's Association.
Col. Raymond Sherman
Word has been received of the death of Colonel Raymond Burdell Sherman, U.S. Army retired, 73, who died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at his residence in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
He was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Tiffin, to Walter Ray and Nellie C. (Young) Sherman.
Surviving are his wife, Madge M. Sherman of Mount Pleasant; a daughter, Deejah Sherman Peterson of Seattle, Wash.; two sons, David Raymond Sherman of Columbus and Dennis Sherman of Garland, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Marie Schreiner of West Millgrove and Rosemary Scott of Tiffin.
A U.S. Army veteran he received the Korean Service Medal, three Bronze Campaign Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Bronze Star with V device, Senior Parachute Badge and Korean Presidential Citation.
Interment will be in Arlington National cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Mary Ann Marshall
Mary Ann Marshall, 48, of Hollsopple, Pa., died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at Windber Hospice.
She was born Aug. 14, 1953, in Tiffin to James and Elizabeth (Margraf) Rohrbach.
Survivors include: her husband of 25 years, Thomas Marshall of Hollsopple, Pa.; two sons, Patrick N. Marshall and Charles M. Whipkey III, both of Hollsopple, Pa.; three grandsons; two brothers, Paul Rohrbach of Tiffin and James Rohrbach of Green Springs; two sisters, Barbara Joseph of Tiffin and Kathryn McGuire of Cleveland.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Anne Catholic Church in Davidsville, Pa. Burial will be in Custer cemetery in Pa.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 Friday with Vigil for the Deceased Friday afternoon at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. in Davidsville, Pa.
