Carl J. Smith
Carl J. Smith, 72, of Mechanic Street, Clyde, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at Bellevue Hospital.
He was born Sept. 8, 1929, in Fremont to Carl A. and Bertha (Phillips) Smith. He married
Helen (Miller) Smith in 1968. She preceded him in death in 1988.
Survivors include: two sons, Thomas Smith of Clyde and Steven Smith of Fremont; a sister, Mabel Martin of Monroeville and a grandchild.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde. Burial will be in McPherson cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde with a Christian Wake at 5:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Juanita C. Cavanaugh
Juanita C. Cavanaugh, 84, formerly of 21 Hillcrest, Tiffin, died at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002, at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.
She was born Oct. 6, 1917, in Carey to John M. and Glenna V. (Heminger) Mooney. She married
Harry Hushour Dec. 19, 1941. He died in 1951. She married
Dale Cavanaugh May 10, 1959. He survives at Fairhaven Community.
Other survivors include: a brother, Kenneth Mooney of Clyde and a sister, Mrs. Kathleen Sedlak of Tiffin.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Marion D. Colvin
Services for Marion D. Colvin, 76, of Canton Township, were May 17 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Drex Morton officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Plymouth.
Mr. Colvin was born Sept. 11, 1925, in Bascom, and died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Canton Township. He was district manager for the Social Security Administration. He retired after 35 years with the administration. After retirement, he worked for General Filters in Novi. He came to the Plymouth community in the 1960s from Kalamazoo. He served in the armed services during World War II and was a life member of the VFW in Northville.
Survivors include: his wife, Bette Kozachenko-Colvin of Canton Township; daughters, Lori (Brian) Bucalo of White Lake, Nora Bauer of Lincoln Park, Lisa (Thomas) Lewandowski of Canton and Kimberly Kozachenko of Westlake; sons, Jeffrey (Suzanne) Colvin of White Lake and Frederick Bauer of Farmington; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; mother, Esther Colvin of Findlay and sister, Mary (James) Craven of Tucson, Ariz.
Memorials may be made to Arbor Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Marjorie A. Miller
Marjorie A. Miller, 69, 340 Elm Ave., Tiffin, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
She was born June 14, 1932, in Seneca County, to the late Anthony and Josephine (Wagner) Tiell. On April 23, 1960, in St. Joseph Church, Tiffin, she married
Arden A. Miller. He preceded her in death Feb. 19, 1991.
Surviving are a son, Michael Miller of DeLand, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. James (Janet) Johnson of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Anthony Tiell of rural Tiffin; a special friend, Otto Gase of Tiffin; and two grandchildren, Kyle and Kevin Johnson.
A 1950 graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School and a 1952 graduate of Tiffin University, Mrs. Miller was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Allen Eiry Senior Center and Catholic Knights of Ohio.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, in St. Joseph Church, with the Rev. James K. Say officiating. The rosary will be prayed at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Allen Eiry Senior Center or a charity of the donor's choice.
Betty L. (Feasel) Smith
Betty L. (Feasel) Smith, 71, of Fremont, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at her daughters home.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1930, in Tiffin to Bruce and Jesse Mary (Barlekamp) Lynch. They are deceased. She married
John Harmon Feasel, Jr. on Nov. 12, 1949, and he died in 1970. She then married
Charles H. Shilling and he died in 1977. Then she married
William A. Smith. He died in 1991.
Survivors include: a son, Dr. Michael John Feasel of Wilson, N.C.; a daughter, Peggy Ann (Feasel) Bliss of Fremont; six grandchildren; two brothers, Bruce Lynch of Uniopolis, Ohio and Arthur (Bud) Lynch of Seabrook, Tex,; four sisters, Anna Warner of Fremont, Eunice Acker of E. Freedom, Pa., Margaret Fuston of Covington, Ky. and Patty Charleston of Bucyrus.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Lynn Feasel and a brother, Wayne Lynch.
Mrs. Smith attended Tiffin Public Schools. She was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for the Chemical Waste Management in Fremont, retiring in 1987. She loved gardening and spending time with her friends, family and grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary in Fremont.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital or the Oncology Department at Memorial Hospital.
Phyllis Jean Dalzell
Phyllis Jean Dalzell, 70, of Sandusky Co. Rd. 175, Clyde, died Sunday, May 20, 2002, at Bellevue Hospital.
She was born Feb. 29, 1932 in Genoa to Edwin and Corrina (Baker) Wilka. She married
Peer L. Dalzell on Nov. 15, 1958. He survives in Clyde.
Other survivors include: her mother, Corrina Wilka of Bowling Green; a daughter, Dawn Sumner of Clyde; two sisters, Marilyn Kornowski of Twinsburg and Beverly Magrum of Bowling Green; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Thelma J. Lee
Thelma J. "Tubby" "Clem" Lee, 68, of 124 S. Clay St., Green Springs, died 7:01 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2002, at Bellevue Hospital.
She was born Aug. 1, 1933 in Grundy, Buchanan Co., Va. to Caudle Charles and Lena McClanahan. She married
Clifford Lee Dec. 19, 1955 in Grace Lutheran Church. He survives in Green Springs.
Other survivors include: two sons, Daryol E. Lee and Kevin Charles Lee, both of Green Springs; three brothers, Arvil McClanahan of Bloomville, Elmer McClanahan of Green Springs and William McClanahan of Clyde; two sisters, Margie Deel and Sue Rohrbach, both of Green Springs; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Engle-Young Funeral Home in Green Springs. Burial will be in Butternut Ridge cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Joanne Feasel
Joanne Feasel, 63, of Simla, Colo., left this life May 8, 2002, after a short battle with cancer. Joanne was born Feb. 10, 1939, to Harl A. and Opal Ellen (Snay) Smith near Attica. Her parents and a brother, Don W. Smith of Kissimmee, Fla., preceded her in death.
She married
Larry A. Feasel, formerly of Republic, on July 1, 1968, at Bloomville.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Larry, Simla, Colo.; a sister, Corleda Reedy, Lorain; five sons, Richard Merryfield, Colorado Springs, Colo., John Merryfield, Fort Seneca, Jerry Merryfield, Simla, Colo., Larry Feasel Jr., Limon, Colo., Christopher Feasel, Simla, Colo. and 15 grandchildren.
The family requests that any memorials be made as a contribution to a cancer research organization of choice.
Richard J. Reidling
Richard J. Reidling, 59, of 4388 Hall Rd., Fostoria, died 1:46 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2002, at Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born March 9, 1943, in Saginaw, Mich., to Earl McKinley and Nellie Berlin (Barr) Reidling. His mother survives in Fostoria. He married
Sue Ann Gebauer on Dec. 26, 1979, in Tiffin. She survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a son, Justin Reidling of Fostoria; a sister, Earlene Naugle of Bloomdale.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lena Manecke
Lena Manecke, 93, of Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria, formerly of Wayne, Ohio, died 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Good Shepherd Home.
She was born Dec. 3, 1908, in West Millgrove to Ralph L. and Nora (Estep) Kelly. She married
William A. Manecke on Sept. 21, 1934 in Fostoria. He died July 16, 1983.
Survivors include: a sister-in-law, Margaret Kelly of Wayne; two nieces, Patricia Myers of Bloomdale and Bonnie Blue of Wayne.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery in West Millgrove.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Jean E. Kenyon
Jean E. Kenyon, 77, of St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria, died 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at St. Catherine's.
She was born June 29, 1924 in Toledo to Leroy and Mary (Crone) Shultz. Both parents are deceased. She married
Herbert Gomersall and he died in 1951. She then married
Ralph Kenyon. He died Dec. 28, 1989.
Survivors include: two sons, James H. Kenyon of Findlay and Kevin R. Kenyon of Westland, Mich.; three daughters, Joy Taylor of Fremont, Laura Contos of Toledo and Judith Schneider of Fremont; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; four sisters, Doris Scherger and Maryann Whitman, both of Fostoria, Winifred Fuller of New Riegel and Lorna Clem of Tiffin.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pauline Boff-Schumaker
Pauline E. Boff-Schumaker, 90, died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002, in the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria, where she was a resident.
She was born Feb. 12, 1912, in Lima, to the late Nicholas and Eliza (Bricker) Wagner. On Feb. 2, 1932, in Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, she married
Aloysius J. Boff. He died March 9, 1972. She later married
Walter P. Schumaker May 3, 1986, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church. He survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: five daughters, Mrs. Donna Jean Sanders, Shelby, Mrs. Carl (Dorene) Harden, Port Clinton, Mrs. Michael (Geraldine) Borer, Tiffin, Mrs. John (Suellen) Decker, Arcadia and Mrs. Patricia Miller, Clyde; four sons, Edwin Boff, Gibsonburg, Don Boff, Fostoria, Thomas Boff, Indianapolis, Ind. and John Boff, Weaverville, N.C.; 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson; three stepsons, Vern Schumaker, California, Norman and Gary Schumaker, both of Fostoria; 11 stepgrandchildren and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and a stepson, Gene Schumaker.
A homemaker, Mrs. Schumaker was the co-owner and operator of Boff Bakery in Fostoria. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, its Rosary-Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where a rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. Catholic Ladies of Columbia memorial service will be at 6 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 8:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin Church and School or Seneca County Community Hospice Care.
Duane G. Norris
Duane G. Norris, 69, of Lompoc, Calif., died Jan. 21, 2002, at his home.
He was born May 8, 1932, in Fostoria to Ivron and Alice (Burman) Norris. He married
Ruth Cooper in August of 1955 in Greenville, Pa. She survives in Lompoc, Calif.
Other survivors include: a son, Samuel Norris of Lompoc, Calif., two daughters, Dana Jeanne Norris of Lompoc, Calif., and Carolyn Callihan of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, Henry Norris of Fostoria and Ivron Norris of Tiffin; a sister Florence Norris of Fostoria.
Memorial will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, at the Grace United Church of Christ in Fostoria.

Donald M. Miller
Donald M. Miller, 91, 82 Kilbourne St., Bellevue, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Bellevue Hospital.
He was born April 20, 1911 in Bismarck, Ohio, to Michael J. and Mary A. (Byrne) Miller. He married
Agnes H. (Gates) Miller on April 21, 1936, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bellevue. She survives in Bellevue.
Other survivors include: two sons, Gerald R. Miller and James D. Miller, both of Bellevue; a daughter, Mary Gardner of Bellevue; Nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Auxter Funeral Home in Bellevue. Rosary will be 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
James Little Sr.
James Little Sr, 59, of 4509 Twp. Rd. 36 Bettsville, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at his home.
He was born April 5, 1943 in York Township, Ohio, to Leal and Mary Ann (Stoner) Little. He married
Raedeana (Drown) Little in Fremont on April 19, 1968. She survives in Bettsville.
Other survivors include: four sons, James Little Jr of Bettsville, Jeff Little of Oklahoma, Jesse Little of Fostoria and Brian Little of Tiffin; three daughters, Pam York of Alabama, Michelle Kohlenberg of Bettsville, Ann Little of Bloomville and six grandchildren.
There will be no funeral at this time and there will also be no visitation.
The Engle Funeral Home in Bettsville is in charge of the arrangements.
Ronald C. Gerwin
Ronald C. Gerwin, 57, of Fremont, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, in the Emergency Room at Memorial Hospital, Fremont.
He was born Aug. 20, 1944, in Gibsonburg, to the late Carl Henry and Lucille Irene (Balsizer) Gerwin.
Ronald graduated from Ross High in 1962. He married
Karen A. Karr May 4, 1968, at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Attica and she survives in Fremont. Ronald was a mechanic of farm machinery with a home based business called Gerwin Tractor Repair. He also worked for the Heinz Company as a mechanic since 1987. Ronald was in the Army Reserves.
Survivors also include a daughter, Monica I. Willey; a son, Damian C. Gerwin; a grandson, Zachary J. Willey; and a brother, Edward Charles Gerwin, all of Fremont; and a sister, Kathleen Anne Burmiester of Gibsonburg.
Visitation will be noon-3 p.m. Saturday with the funeral service at 3 p.m. at the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary, Fremont.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
