Dolores E. Hughes
(1915- 2004)
HUDSON, Ind. - Dolores E. Hughes, 89, of Hudson, Ind., died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Born Jan. 31, 1915, at Otsego Twp., Steuben County, to Belle (Lemmon) and Joseph Sewell, she married Howard W. Hughes and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1972.
Retired after 30 years at Dana Weatherhead in Angola, she and her husband farmed for many years in Jackson Twp., Steuben County.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George (Barbara L.) Steffes of Edgerton, Ohio, and Mrs. Richard (Pamela K.) Kain of Orland, Ind.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Heston of Hamilton, Ind.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, George Steffes Jr.; a brother, Bill Sewell; and a sister, Pauline Brandt.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. (Indiana Time) in the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. (Indiana Time) in the funeral home. Burial will be in Flint Cemetery, Jackson, Twp., Steuben County.

Susan A. Hausch
(1942- 2004)
STRYKER - Susan A. Hausch, 62, of Stryker, died Sept. 18, 2004, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Born April 28, 1942, at Henry County, to Gladys (Franz) and Wilson Creager, she married Robert Hausch on July 18, 1942, and he survives.
A teacher in the Pike, Delta, York School for the last 22 years, she was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gideons International, Harborside Waves and had been Teacher of the Year in Northwest Ohio.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Herb (Cindy) Hausch-Booth of Alexandra, Va., Mrs. Gene (Brenda) Harris of Bloomingburg, Mrs. Steve (Michelle) Andrews of Bryan; three sons, David (and wife, Teresa) Hausch of West Unity, Adam Hausch of St. Petersburg, Fla., Matt Hausch of Stryker; nine grandchildren; her mother, Gladys Creager of Lansing, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Tom (Ellen Ann) Carrarile of Laingsburg, Mich.; Jan McCulloch of Lansing, Mich. and Mrs. Will (Jackie) Myers of Bath, Mich.
Preceding her in death were her father; two brothers, Jimmy and Donald Creager; and a sister, Bonnie Lloyd.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the First Lutheran Church, Stryker, with the Rev. Dane Meuschke to officiate. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Archbold.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to the donor's choice.
Darrell L. Faber
(1912- 2004)
MONTPELIER - Darrell L. Faber, 92, of Montpelier, died Sunday evening, Sept. 19, 2004, at Community Hospital and Wellness Centers-Bryan, following a brief illness.
Born Aug. 30, 1912, near Edon, to Mable May (Brim) and Harley Otis Faber Sr., he married Netta B. Bible on Feb. 12, 1930, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 1993.
A lifelong area resident, he was a retired carpenter as well as a versatile and talented musician. He was able to play any musical instrument and was widely known in the tri-state area, having played with many bands and orchestras over the years.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Shirley) Young of Montpelier and Mrs. Warren (Candis) Cunningham of Richmond, Ind.; five grandchildren, Jeff (and wife, Sarah) Young of Sarasota, Fla., Derek (Lissa) Cunningham of Silver Springs, Md., Darin (Sharon) Cunningham of Charleston, N.C., Dodd (Dee) Cunningham of Warsaw, Ind. and Darcie Cunningham of Bloomfield, Ky.; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harley O. (Mary Jane) Faber Jr. of Edgerton.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. in the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Damschroder to officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Arthur Ellis
(1927- 2004)
ASHLEY, Ind. - Arthur Ellis, 76, of Ashley and formerly of Kendallville, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn.
Born Oct. 29, 1927, at Fort Wayne, to Ethel (Deems) and Arthur Ellis, he married Mabel Maire Miller on Nov. 9, 1946, and she survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are five daughters, Mrs. David (Donna) Koehlinger of Fort Wayne, Sharon Ellis of Fort Wayne, Beverly Lankford of Kendallville, Mrs. Claude (Dianna) Buss of Auburn and Jeanine Bender of Pleasant Lake; two sons, James (and wife, Nancy) Ellis of Edon, Ohio, and Brian (Peggy) Ellis of Pleasant Lake; 15 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William (Laura) Frey of Corunna and Mrs. John (Delphia) Samis of Sulphur, Okla.; a brother, Alvin (Thelma) Ellis of Denver, Colo.; and a half sister, Mrs. Billy (Regina) Pogue of Auburn.
Preceding him in death were his son, Robert Carl Ellis; a daughter, Karen Sue Ellis; two sisters, Eunice and Dorothy; a son-in-law, Ronald Lankford; and a niece, Cynthia Frey.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1901 E. Dowling St., Kendallville.
Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home in Hudson.
Ralph L. Dehnbostel
(1912- 2004)
SOUTH LYON, Mich. - Ralph L. Dehnbostel, 82, of South Lyon, died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 16, 2004, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he had been a patient since Friday.
Born March 11, 1922, at Napoleon, Ohio, to Edna (Jaqua) and William Dehnbostel, he married Donna Grime on July 5, 1947, and she survives.
A U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, had lived at Salem for 40 years, and South Lyon for the past six.
He was a CPA for Wall-Calmonoy for 30 years, retiring in 1987, and was a member of the horse associations USTA and MHHA.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, William Dehnbostel of New Hudson and Steven (and wife, Stacy) Dehnbostel of Commerce Township; two daughters, Carol Dehnbostel of Mesick and Linda Dehnbostel of Bancroft; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Howard Dehnbostel of Diamond Head, Miss. Preceding him in death were his parents.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home in Archbold Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery near Archbold.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Donald W. Schilt
(1912- 2004)
WEST UNITY - Donald W. Schilt, 92, formerly of Montpelier and of West Unity since 1982, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 15, 2004, at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Montpelier. Born Jan. 22, 1912, at Cecil, to Anna Marie (Schwaderer) and Thomas Schilt, he married Eileen D. (Shaw) Schilt on April 7, 1939, and she survives in West Unity.
He attended Fayette schools and became a farmer at an early time in life to help the family farm. Later, he was also employed in construction for the Baker-Shindler Construction Co. in Defiance and then the Boyer Construction Co. in Wauseon before retiring in 1969. He was employed by the Superior Township Trustees in Montpelier and retired from farming in 1982. He was a Protestant.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Shirley) McCartney of Mesa, Ariz.; a son, Roger (and wife, Cathy) Schilt of rural West Unity; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, seven brothers, five sisters and a son-in-law, Stanley Wineland in 1989.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-8 p.m. in the Hollingshead-Beck Funeral Home in West Unity. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scoby to officiate. Burial will be in the Floral Grove Cemetery in West Unity.
Memorials may be made to the Evergreen Manor Nursing Home of Montpelier.
Mildred Morton
(1924 - 2004)
AUBURN, Ind. - Mildred Morton, 80, of Auburn, Ind. and formerly of Edgerton, Ohio, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at her residence following a massive heart attack. Born March 8, 1924, at Edgerton, Ohio, to Bernice (Lint) and Warren Oberlin, she married Russell L. Morton on Dec. 26, 1944, at San Luis Obispo, Calif., and he preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2003.
Employed at the DeKalb Central School cafeteria for 12 years, she retired in 1992. She also did volunteer work for the DeKalb Memorial Hospital in the last 10 years.
She was a member of the Auburn First United Methodist Church, Methodist Women's Church Circle, Auburn Eastern Star, Auburn Fire Department LadiesÕ Auxiliary and the Auburn American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Randy (and wife, Karen) Morton of Auburn, Ind. and Mark (Pam) Morton of Hamilton, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Karla Morton of Auburn, Ind.; two grandchildren, Mrs. Justin (Holly) Jorden and Jasen (Amy) Morton; two great-grandsons, Carson and Parker Morton; and a brother, Ralph (Mildred) Oberlin of Bryan, Ohio.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Morton.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-6 p.m. in the Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn, Ind.
