Margaret Yates-Tomsen

Margaret Yates-Tomsen, 88, formerly of Fremont Street., Fostoria, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Crestwood Nursing Home in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

She was born March 30, 1913 in Toledo to Dwight and Mabel (Slosser) Yates. She married Justus Tomsen Nov. 7, 1937 in Fostoria. He is deceased.

Survivors include: four sons, James Tomsen of Dayton, Peter Tomsen of Omaha, Neb., Tim Tomsen of North Tonawanda, N.Y.,and Mike Tomsen of Columbus; a daughter, Margot Tomsen of Hanover, Ind.; a brother, Maynard Yates, Palm Springs, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Fostoria. Burial will be at Riverview cemetery, West Millgrove.

Harry Eugene 'Toby' Ferdinandsen Jr.

Harry Eugene "Toby" Ferdinandsen Jr., 48, of Los Angeles, Calif., died Wednesday, March 20, 2002 in Los Angeles, Calif.

He was born Dec. 3, 1953 in Sandusky to Harry E. and Jarnice L. (Olds) Ferdinandsen Sr.

Survivors include: his mother, Jarnice L. Tuttle of Fostoria; a brother, Bob Ferdinandsen of Lima, Ohio; three sisters, Kathy Washburn of Deshler, Tammy Hulderman of McComb, and Jodi Ferdinandsen of Leipsic; and a half-sister, Dawna Ferdinandsen of Sandusky.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, at Knollcrest Gardens, Arcadia.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Mary A. Black

Mary A. Black, 76, of Clinton Mobile Homes, Tiffin, died 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2002, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

She was born in Gibsonburg June 16, 1925 to the late Dominic and Carmella Buccione. She married Doyle M. Black in Tiffin Feb. 23, 1946. He died Feb. 23, 1995.

Mrs. Black was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and John Buccione.

Survivors include: a son, Ronald Black, and a daughter, Barbara Alcala, both of Tiffin; three sisters, Elizabeth Pendrey of Arizona, Helene Richey of Florida and Josephine Rolando of Wisconsin; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Black retired from General Electric Co. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and GEWOTS.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home with Father Stephen Schroeder officiating.

Visitation will be 2-4 an 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Clariden 'Pick' Harding

Clariden "Pick" Harding, 94, formerly of 153 N. Washington St., died 7 p.m. March 20, 2002, at Autumnwood Care Center.

He was born in Tiffin Nov. 12, 1907 to John and Ella (Cramer) Harding. He married Grace Beth (Ashburn) Harding Feb. 1, 1942.

Mr. Harding was preceded in death by his wife, a brother and a sister.

Survivor include: two sons, Jim and Kathy Harding and John Harding both of Tiffin; a granddaughter, Allyson Harding of Cincinatti; three step-grandchildren, Lorie Roders of Tiffin, Kim Drake of Columbus and Shawn Rodgers of Tiffin; and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Harding was a lifelong resident of Tiffin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. He was self-employed with many businesses. Mr. Harding was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and a member of the Tiffin Elks Lodge for 68 years. He also belonged to many other local clubs.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Greenlawn cemetery officiated by the Rev. John D. Teeters and a service by the United Veterans Council.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Evelyn M. 'Tommie' Klein

Evelyn M. "Tommie" Klein, 81, died at 7:21 p.m. Monday March 25, 2002, at Elmwood at the Shawhan, Tiffin, where she was a resident.

She was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Toledo, to the late Orville and Bertha (Bucher) Thomas. On April 9, 1949, in Toledo, she married Doran N. Klein. He died Dec. 28, 1973.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Victoria Scheck of Medina, Mrs. Ben (Valerie) Heydinger of rural Bloomville and Mrs. Ron (Mike) Fortune of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Wesley and Lindsey Barth, both of Bloomville, Tiffany and Amanda Scheck, both of Medina and Doran Fortune of Atlanta, Ga.; and a great-grandchild, Gabriel Collins, also of Medina. A sister, Doris Phelps is deceased.

A homemaker, Mrs. Klein graduated in 1938 from DeVilbis High School in Toledo. She was a 4-H Mom and Nanna for 40 years. Formerly of Toledo, she had been a resident of Tiffin since 1949.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday March 30, in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with Dr. Arthur M. Geyh officiating. A fellowship at Elmwood at the Shawhan will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to Elmwood at the Shawhan.

Larry R. Ohms II

Larry R. Ohms II, 20, of Fremont, died Saturday March 23, 2002, in Cadillac, Mich. following a snowmobile accident. He was born July 23, 1981, to Larry R. and Kristine M. (Zimmer) Ohms in Fremont. Larry helped his father farm and also did carpentry work with Rudy Smith. He was a 2000 graduate of Ross High School, member of the Sandusky County FFA and 4-H. Larry loved snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, farming and raising cattle.

Surviving are parents, Larry R. Ohms and Kristine M. Winklea both of Fremont; brother, Dan Ohms of Fremont; sisters, Korrin Ohms of Fremont and Tammie Langovski of North Canton. Also surviving are grandparents, Bob and Margie Ohms of Fremont and Mary Alice Zimmer of Tiffin. Larry was preceded in death by his grandfather, Raymond Zimmer.

Visitation is 1-9 p.m. today at the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary in Fremont. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Vickery with additional visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Cleo B. Skeels

Cleo B. Skeels, 68, of North Church St., Clyde, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at her daughter's residence.

She was born Aug. 29, 1933, in Bellevue to the late Merlin and Rachael (Rose) Hensinger. She married Clarence J. Skeels Jan. 16, 1954. He is deceased.

Survivors include: three sons, Steve Skeels of Toledo, Clarence Skeels of Fla. and Robert Skeels of Clyde; two daughters, Mrs. Jean (Sherman) Goble and Janice Head, both of Clyde; a sister, Lila Grose of Norwalk; 13 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Burial will be at McPherson cemetery.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Wilbur J. Taylor Jr.

Wilbur J. Taylor Jr., 73, of 77 Northwood Dr. died 11:10 p.m. at Mercy Hospital intensive care unit.

He was born May 3, 1928 in Sandusky to the late Wilbur J. and Edna (Smith) Taylor Sr. He married Rosemary Ruffing at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bellevue, Dec. 29, 1951.

Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Thomas J. Taylor of Rochester HIlls, Mich. and Patrick W. Taylor of Tiffin; four daughters, Susan Taylor Hall of Republic, Christine Taylor Gottschalk of Sylvania, Catherine Taylor Swenson of Seoul, South Korea and Linda Taylor Danklefsen of Huron; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Taylor was an U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving during World War II.

Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Monday at St Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday and 1-4 Saturday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Ruth Mae Kitzler-Sterger

Ruth Mae Kitzler-Sterger, 77, of 4768 SR 199, Carey, died 6:35 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2002, at her home.

She was born Feb. 16, 1925 in Carey to the late Joseph E. and Mary Mae (Jarvis) Fox. She married Harold Leo Kitzler Sept. 15, 1942.

Survivors include: four sons, Leo Harold "Junior" Kitzler, Joseph Kitzler and James Kitzler, all of Carey, and John Kitzler of Vanlue; six daughters, Mrs. Jolynn (James) Nye of Carey, Cheryl Vehre of Piqua, Jane Boden of Carey, Mrs. Agnes (Dennis) Pfeifer of Upper Sandusky, Jackie Johnson of Carey and Mrs. Jill (Joel) Gregg of McCutchenville; 20 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy Fox of Risingsun and Billy Fox of Vanlue; and three sisters, Mrs. Helen (Nelson) Stover of Carey, Mary Ellen Smith of Bellevue and Ann Reed of Fostoria.

Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey.

Wilbur S. Ruffing

Wilbur S. Ruffing, 77, of 108 Seneca St., Attica died Monday, March 25, 2002, in Mercy Hospital of Willard.

He was born Jan. 17, 1925 in Reed Township to the late Clements B. and Bertha (Shank) Ruffing. He married Martha (Schreiner) Ruffing at Reed Assumption Catholic Church June 14, 1947.

Survivors include: four sons, William A. Ruffing and Gerald J. Ruffing, both of Attica, and Robert E. Ruffing and Dennis P. Ruffing, both of Republic; a daughter, Mrs. Paula Jean (Curtis) Karr of Attica; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five sisters, Marcella Huffman of Bellevue, Verna Mae Sanger of Norwalk, Norma Echelberry of Bellevue, Mary Ann Neidermier of Attica and Marlene Cleland of Attica.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Attica. Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday with a wake service at 8:30 p.m. at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service.

Wilbur J. Taylor Jr.

Wilbur J. Taylor Jr., 73, 77 Northwood Drive, Tiffin, died at 11:10 p.m. Monday March 25, 2002, in the Intensive Care Unit of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born May 3, 1928, in Sandusky, to Wilbur J. Sr. and Edna (Smith) Taylor. He married Rosemary Ruffing Dec. 29, 1951, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bellevue, in a service by the late Rev. Louis J. Mayle. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Thomas J. Taylor of Rochester Hills, Mich. and Patrick W. Taylor of Tiffin; four daughters, Mrs. Lester (Susan Taylor) Hall of Republic, Mrs. David (Christine Taylor) Gottschalk of Sylvania, Mrs. Robert (Catherine Taylor) Swenson of Seoul, South Korea and Mrs. Mark (Linda Taylor) Danklefsen of Huron; and seven grandchildren, Matthew Hall, Andrea Taylor, Andrew Hall, Kelly Taylor, Kate Gottschalk and Michelle and Shannon Swenson. He was preceded by his parents and a step brother, Richard Smith.

A graduate of Clyde High School, Mr. Taylor retired in 1991 as an inspector of quality control at Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde. He served his country as a first sergeant in the Army Air Corps 1946-1949, and remained in the Army Reserves 1950-1988. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiffin and the Fremont VFW Post 749.

A funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 1, in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank Murd officiating. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the service on Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic cemetery, Tiffin, with military rites by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 29 and 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care of Tiffin, St. Mary's Catholic Church Refurbishing Fund or for Masses, in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Corrine M. Benner

Corrine M. Benner, 96, 781 S. Greenfield St., formerly of 34 Virginia Ave., Tiffin, died Tuesday March 26, 2002, in the Seneca House.

She was born Dec. 22, 1905, in Toledo, to Frank J. and Anna (Crist) Wiechart. On May 21, 1955, she married Martin Benner. He died in May 1974.

Surviving are: nephews, Tom Feintuch of Bucyrus and Jeff Weichart of Cleveland; nieces, Jean (Feintuch) Vogt of Edina, Minn. and Virginia Weichart of Cleveland; a nephew-in-law, Ray Doran; and grand nephew and niece, Patrick Doran and Sara (Doran) Sheidler of Moline, Ill.

Her twin sister, Helene, sister, Eleta Feintuch; brother, Otto Weichart; and nieces, Marjorie (Feintuch) Doran and Helen Feintuch, are deceased.

Mrs. Benner spent 22 years in Cleveland working for Welfare Federation as a clerk with her sister Helene; she worked in the Webster Manufacturing office for 23 years and retired after 18 years in the Mercy Hospital office at the age of 81.

She was a member of The Poor Souls Society, St. Francis Auxiliary, Legion of Mary, St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society and served as past regent of Daughters of Isabella.

A memorial Mass will be at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Graveside services in St. Joseph cemetery will be private.

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice of Toledo, 3450 W. Central Ave., Suite 230, Toledo, Ohio 43606 or a charity of the donor's choice.

Charles Edward Boyce

Charles Edward Boyce, 70, of 3556 CH 97, Carey, died at 3:08 p.m. Tuesday March 26, 2002, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

He was born April 13, 1931, in Carey, to the late Charley and Alice (Peters) Boyce. His wife, Jeannette (Himmler) Boyce, whom he married Oct. 7, 1953, survives.

Other survivors include: five children, Mrs. Kenneth (Karen) Lortz of Carey, Mrs. Dale (Linda) Thompson of Maryville, Tenn., Michael Boyce of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Martin (Alice) Hennessy and Mrs. Jon (Jennifer) Fahl, both of Carey; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Jacob (Edna) Walter of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Glenn (Cordilla) Walter of Wharton; and a brother, Howard Boyce of Carey.

Two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Claribel) Landoll and Reba Boyce are deceased.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Boyce was a self-employed mason. He was a member of Carey VFW and Carey American Legion Post 344 and a former member of Carey Eagles and Moose Lodges . He also was affiliated with Memorial United Methodist Church, Carey.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday March 29 in the Beach Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Paul Goetz officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey, with full military rites.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Respiratory Department of Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center or the donor's choice.

Wilbur S. Ruffing

Wilbur S. Ruffing, 77, of 108 Seneca St., Attica, died Monday, March 25, 2002, in Mercy Hospital of Willard.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday with a wake service at 8:30 p.m. at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service.

Ellene Myers

Ellene Myers, 88, of Columbus Ave., Fostoria, died 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at The Toledo Hospital.

She was born Oct. 10, 1913 in Alvada to Herbert and Ida (Pockmire) Snyder. She married Paul R. Myers Aug. 22, 1936 in Columbia, Ind. He is deceased.

Survivors include: three sons, the Rev. Paul E. Myers of Fostoria, Darrold D. Myers of Houston, Texas and William L. Myers of Union; a daughter, Mrs. Joan (Terry) Clark of Bloomingdale, Ind.; a brother, Donald Snyder of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at Knollcrest Gardens, Arcadia.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
