Carl G. Hill
Carl G. Hill, 49, of 7231 S. SR 231, died at 1:45 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2002, in a traffic accident at the intersection of Twp. Rd. 28 and CR 18.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, and one hour before the time of the service.
Clarence J. 'Tuffy' Skeels
Clarence J. "Tuffy" Skeels, 71, of North Church Street, Clyde, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in Bellevue Hospital.
He was born July 8, 1930, in Clyde, to Orla and Edith (Lee) Skeels and both are deceased. He married
Cleo Hensinger Jan. 16, 1954; and she survives along with three sons, Steve of Toledo, Clarence L. of Florida, and Robert of Clyde; two daughters, Mrs. Sherman (Jean) Goble and Janice Head, both of Clyde; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert of Bellevue.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with interment in McPherson cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Esther R. Baugher
Esther R. Baugher, 85, of Palmetto, Fla., and formerly of Fostoria, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in Westminster Asbury Towers, Bradenton, Fla.
She was born Sept. 1, 1916, in Alvada to Thomas and Mary (Krauss) Kinn.
Survivors include: her former husband, Eugene Baugher of Bradenton, Fla.; two sons, Bruce of Palmetto, Fla., and James of Tucker, Ga.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, in St. Wendelin cemetery, Fostoria, with burial in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Richard E. Suffecool
Richard E. "Dick" Suffecool, 60, of S. SR 53, Fremont, died early Friday morning, March 15, 2002, in the home of his fiancee, Medreth Scheer, in Tiffin.
He was born to Chester and Flossie (Pressler) Suffecool Sept. 7, 1941, in Fort Seneca and they are deceased.
In addition to his fiancee, he is survived by a brother, Edward of Fremont; a sister, Beverly Hiestand of North Canton; and several nieces and nephews.
He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary in Fremont with burial in Pleasant Union cemetery, Old Fort.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Carl G. Hill
Carl G. Hill, 49, of 7231 S. SR 231, Tiffin, died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, in Seneca County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born Jan. 22, 1953, in Tiffin to Melvin W. and Vivian A. (Collins) Hill. He married
Jan L. Everhart, July 5, 1975.
Surviving are his parents; spouse; three daughters, Heather M. Hill, Hillarin L. Hill and Starlene R. Hill, all of Tiffin; a brother, Melvin W. Hill Jr. of Port Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. John ("Ada" Rose) Holman of Sycamore, Mrs. Rick ("Amy" Jo) Kopp of New Orleans, La.; and a granddaughter, Kaylynn Gibson of Tiffin.
Mr. Hill was a lifelong resident of Seneca County and attended Mohawk High School. He was self employed in the construction business.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home with Major and Mrs. Kenneth C. Stahl officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. today and one hour before the service Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made in care of the family.
William Babione
William Babione, 55, of SR 103 South, Willard, died Friday, March 15, 2002. He was born Sept. 12, 1946, in Tiffin. His parents are the late Oscar Joseph and Anna Marie (Benner) Babione Wasserman and step-father Ervin Wasserman. On April 15, 1967, he married
Susan (Herring) Babione.
Survivors include: his wife; three sons, William Joseph Jr. of Albania, James Layne Babione and Ronnie Babione, both of Willard; a daughter, Mrs. Mike (Wendy Marie) Evans of Escondido, Calif.; two brothers, Thomas Babione and Michael Wasserman, both of Fremont; four sisters, Suzanne Michael, Catherine Miller, Florence Swint, all of Fremont, and Marilyn Babione of Chicago, Ill.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth. Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery in New Haven.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Buelah M. Steck
Buelah M. Steck, 85, St. Catherine's Care Center, formerly of Wesley Village, died 10:45 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Toledo Hospital. She was born April 2, 1916, in Continental to the late John Wesley and Elizabeth "Libby" (Young) Brooks.
She married
Henry J. Steck in Tiffin March 12, 1934. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a son, Robert Steck of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Gary Weicht of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Betty Paris of Upper Sandusky; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, Arcadia.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Richard E. Suffecool

Olga M. Bibbs
Olga M. Bibbs, 101, of 1039 Cherry St., died at 9:50 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002, at her residence. She was born in Turin, Ga., April 20, 1900, to Wince and Dolly (Bailey) North. She married
Ralph Carmichael in 1920 and he preceded her in death. She married
Clifford Bibbs in 1934. He preceded her in death also.
Survivors include: a daughter, Evelyn Browning of Fostoria; a step daughter, Rosetta Williams of Warren; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home.
Samuel J. Valetean
Samuel J. Valetean, 86, of Egypt Road, Centerton, died Friday, March 15, 2002, at Hillside Acres Nursing Home, Willard. He was born Feb. 16, 1916, in Detroit, Mich., to the late George and Mary (Simon) Valetean. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva (Haas) Valetean. Mr. Valetean was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are: three sons, Michael Valetean, John Valetean, both of Willard, Thomas Valetean of Attica; two sisters, Tillie Surdu of Detroit, Mich., and Helen Link of Huron; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Willard. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Secor Funeral Home, Willard.
John Eaton
John Eaton, 60, of 7446 Lynch Road, St. Marys, died suddenly at his residence Friday, March 15, 2002.
He was born Sept. 3, 1941, in Seneca County to Robert and Julia (Messinger) Eaton. His mother, Mrs. Gerald (Julia) Yost, survives in Tiffin. He married
Sally Von Gunten, Aug. 17, 1963, and she survives at the residence.
Other survivors include: a son, Sean Eaton of Union; five daughters, Mrs. Christopher (Cathleen) Gilbert of Lake Orion, Mich., Mrs. Dayle (Cheryl) Varuska of St. Marys, Mrs. Larry (Carrie) Roell of Harrison, Cicely Eaton of Celina and Mary Eaton of Cincinnati; two brothers, Tom Eaton and Robert Eaton Jr., both of Tiffin; and seven grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Glynnwood. Burial will be in St. Thomas cemetery, Glynnwood.
Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Monday at the Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
Clark Fremont Priest Jr.
Clark Fremont Priest Jr., 77, died at 4:20 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born April 1924 in Toledo to the late Clark Fremont Sr. and Naomi (Wilson) Priest. He married
Ruby E. Smith.
Mr. Smith is an U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
Mr. Priest is survived by his wife; three sons, Robert Priest of Hanaham, S.C., Clark Fremont Priest, III of Atlanta, Ga., Paul Phillip Priest Sr. of Lima; a daughter, Marie Ellen (Carey) Hawk of Kenton; two brothers, James Wesley Priest of Falmouth, Ky., and William Leroy Priest of Lima; a sister, Vivian Louise Bowman of Lima; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Lima with the Rev. Paul McKinley officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Military rites will be performed by VFW Post 1275.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Margaret M. Sanner
Margaret M. Sanner, 88, formerly of 300 Maple Ave., Carey, died 11:15 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, at Wyandot County Nursing Home in Upper Sandusky.
She was born Aug. 1, 1913 in Mt. Corey to the late Ralph and Clara (Schemenour) Sanner.
Survivors include: a brother, Charles Sanner of Hazel Park, Mich.; a sister, Helen Sanner of Warner Robins, Ga.; and two nephews.
Ms. Sanner was a graduate of Carey High School, Class of 1931, and was a retired secretary.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, with the Rev. Regis Schlagheck officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. and a Rosary service will be 7:30 p.m. today at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the donor choice in care of the funeral home.
Fredrick G. Martin
Fredrick G. Martin, 79, of Streeter Road, Port Clinton, died 7:15 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Firelands Community Hospital in Sandusky.
He was born Dec. 22, 1922 in Fostoria to Fredrick G. and Celest "Pearl" (Meyers) Martin Sr. On Aug. 19, 1942, he married
Oletha M. Corner in Tiffin. Mrs. Martin is deceased.
Survivors include: a son, Thomas Martin of Fostoria; four daughters, Mrs. Janet (Bruce) Nolan of Wayne, Mrs. Judy (Thomas) Pessell of Arcadia, Mrs. Kathy (Rick) Cooper of Findlay and Mrs. Jenny (James) Roehl of Toledo; a sister, Marilyn Hill of Bascom;13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Knollcrest Gardens in Arcadia. Burial will be at Knollcrest Gardens.
There will be no visitation.
The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home is charge of arrangements.
Eula D. DeRan
Eula D. DeRan, 91, a resident of Elmwood Care Center, Green Springs, died at 1 a.m. Monday March 18, 2002, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, where she had been a patient for a day.
She was born Aug. 15, 1910, in Clinton Township, Seneca County, to the late Dallas F. and Susan (Arter) Baugher. She married
Herbert G. DeRan March 10, 1934, in the Old Lutheran Church. He died in November 1987.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas DeRan and wife Barbara of Findlay and David DeRan and wife Linda of Old Fort; a daughter, Cassandra Molyet and husband Ronald of Fremont; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
A son, James G. DeRan and a brother, Ernest Baugher, also are deceased.
Mrs. DeRan, a homemaker, was a member of Old Fort United Methodist Church, its Win One Sunday School Class and the Friendship Circle Farm Women's Club. A 1928 Columbian High School graduate, she had lived in the Old Fort area most of her life.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday March 23, in Old Fort United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Scott Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Union cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Old Fort United Methodist Church.
Jessica Renee Hedlund
Jessica Renee Hedlund of Perrysburg passed away March 15, 2002,in Verona, Ky., due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born Aug. 9, 1982, in Toledo, to Donald P. and Barbara E. (Ryder) Hedlund. Surviving are her parents; a sister, Andrea; grandparents, Robert and Mary Hedlund; uncles, Bill Ryder and Bert (Annette) Ryder and aunt, Mrs. Carl (Bonnie) Miller of Tiffin.
Her grandparents, Reginald and Christine (Sage) Ryder; and great-grandmother, Blanche Mager, also preceded her in death.
Jessica was a graduate of Anthony Wayne High School, class of 2000, receiving an honors diploma, State Board of Education Award of Merit, President's Award for Education Excellence, Honors Proficiency certificate and Proficiency certificate. She was a member of the National Honor Society, French Club and the Anthony Wayne Rowing Club. She also played high school basketball for two years.
She was a sophomore at Bowling Green State University enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences and had recently been accepted into the nursing program at Medical College of Ohio. She was a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Phi Omega sororities and also volunteered at the University Medical Center. Her GPA throughout high school and college remained 4.0. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church, Bowling Green. Interment will be private at Toledo Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary, 3815 Sylvania Ave. (between Monroe Street and Talmadge Road) 3-8 p.m. Wednesday.
