Anna Rose Knowles
Anna Rose Knowles, 89, of Sandusky CR 231, Fremont, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at her residence. She was born Dec. 16, 1912, in Sandusky to the late Frank and Josephine (Durnwald) Dickman. She married
Roy A. Knowles, May 8, 1945. He is deceased.
Survivors include: two sons, Ronald Knowles and Donald Knowles, both of Fremont; two brothers, Leo Dickman of Fremont and Frank Dickman of Clyde; three sisters, Mrs. John (Loretta) Meyer, Mrs. Walter (Evelyn) Fox and Josephine Dickman, all of Bellevue.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde, with burial in St. Mary's cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with the rosary recited at 8:30.
Lois V. Miller
Lois V. Miller, 83, formerly of Bertha Ave., Clyde, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at the Elmwood Nursing Home in Green Springs. She was born to the late Albert Cleo and Lula Luella (Kern) Smith May 25, 1918. She married
John L. Miller June 17, 1937. He is deceased.
Survivors include: a son, James Miller of Clyde; two daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Carol) Mira of Republic and Mrs. Robert (Judy) Massey of Clyde; a sister, Mrs. Davie (Joan) Cobb of Vickery; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Gladys V. Boyer
Gladys V. Boyer, 99, of Helen Street, Clyde, died Sunday March 3, 2002, in the Arbor's.
She was born Aug. 10, 1902, in York Township, Sandusky County, to the late Orille G. and Kathryn Viora (Dick) Heter. She first married
Clarence Miller. He died in 1965. She later married
Francis Boyer, who died in 1986.
Surviving are two sons, Elwood "Woody" Miller of Bellevue and Donald E. Miller of Leesburg, Fla.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Heltman of Sarasota, Fla.
The service will be at 11 a.m. March 11 in the Auxter Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in Bellevue cemetery.
Visitation will be 10:30-11 a.m. March 11 at the funeral home.
Louis W. Phelps
Louis W. Phelps, 90, 317 W. Perry St., died at 1:24 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2002, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born April 2, 1911, in Columbus, to the late Grover C. and Edna (Eben) Phelps. His wife, Marjorie E. (Sponseller) Phelps, whom he married
Sept. 4, 1948, in Bloomville, died May 6, 1996.
Surviving are three sons, David L., Richard D. and James P. Phelps, all of Tiffin; a brother, John Phelps of Tiffin; and a sister, Ruth Hoepf, also of Tiffin.
Mr. Phelps served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John's United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Henrietta Donaldson
Henrietta Ann Donaldson, 63, of 1725 Walnut St., Fostoria, formerly of Tiffin, died 8:15 a.m. Monday March 4, 2002 at The Toledo Hospital. She was born Aug. 14, 1938 to the late Clifford and Hazel (Beachner) Berger. She married
Paul L. Donaldson Sr. on March 31, 1956 in Fostoria.
Henrietta was a homemaker and had been employed at Tri-County Veterinary Clinic and Gilbert Tools in Fostoria. Also she was a Professional Cake Decorator. She was a member of Women of the Moose #1567.
Her husband died March 7, 2001; two brothers, Charles Berger and Paul Berger, and a granddaughter are deceased.
Henrietta is survived by two sons, Paul L. Donaldson Jr., of Tiffin and Leonard W. Donaldson of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Leo (Vickie) Dannenberger of Bradner and Mrs. Mario (Dawn) DeLaRosa of Fostoria; two brothers, Thomas Berger of Milibury and Clifford Berger of Oregon, Ohio; a sister Mrs. Wilma Teems of Toledo; one step-grandchild and 10 grandchildren.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Doug Geraand officiating.
Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, Arcadia.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where Women of the Moose Memorial Services will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Evelyn J. Dunn
Evelyn J. Dunn, 86, of Bloomville, died Monday, March 4, 2002, at the Ruffing Family Care Center in Bloomville.
She was born July 4, 1915, in Melmore, to Harry and Margaret (Smoot) Jumper. On Feb. 12, 1938, she married
Norman Dunn Sr., and he is deceased.
Survivors include: a son, Larry Dunn of Bloomville; four daughters, Mrs. Jack (Marilyn) Lucas, Mrs. Carolyn Groves and Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Distel, all of Tiffin and Mrs. Ed (Pat) LeJuene of Fremont; 10 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.
Her husband died in 1976; a son, Norman Jr.; three brothers, Robert, Russell and Paul; two sisters, Martha Wonder and Helen Mompher; and a grandson are deceased.
Mrs. Dunn, a Melmore High School graduate, was a member of Bloomville United Methodist Church, the Womens Circle, Luella Chapter OES #223 of Bloomville and Bloomville Navy Mothers.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2002,, at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with Rev. Gary Hicks officiating. Burial will be Woodlawn cemetery, Bloomville.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 2-4 p.m., and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Ruffing Family Care Center.
Betty J. Piotter
Betty J. Piotter, 75, of West Lytle Street, Fostoria,, was found dead at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 3, 2002, at the Fostoria Veterans Memorial Reservoir 6.
She was born Aug. 13, 1926, in Fostoria, to the late Albert F. and Mary A. (Barns) Piotter. She never married
.
Surviving are 16 nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Albert J. and Ernest E. Piotter; and two sisters, Mrs. Utah Rickle and Mrs. Violet M. Mullholand., are deceased.
Miss Piotter, a 1945 graduate of Fostoria High School, was employed as a line repair person at General Electric in Tiffin. She retired in 1985 after 38 years of employment.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. The Rev. Branson Hawkes will officiate. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The Rev. T. Patrick Scharf
The Rev. T. Patrick Scharf, 59, formerly of Fostoria, died at 7:17 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2002, in Hospice of NW Ohio, Perrysburg.
He was born June 9, 1942, in Fostoria,, to Lawrence A. "Gus" and Catherine "Kate" (Cleary) Scharf. His mother survives in Mansfield.
Other survivors include: a brother, the Rev. Larry Scharf of Monroeville; three sisters, Kathleen Scharf, Ph.D. of Chicago, Ill., Paula Adsit, Ed.D. of San Francisco, Calif. and Mary Angela "Angie" Aplin of Mansfield; and a nephew, Sean Aplin, of Mansfield.
His father is deceased.
The Rev. Scharf attended St. Wendelin Elementary and High School, graduating in 1960 from St. Meinrad High School and St. Meinrad College of Philosophy in 1964. He also graduated from Mount St. Mary's of the West Seminary, Cincinnati in 1968 and attended Xavier University Graduate School, Cincinnati.
He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest, May 25, 1968 for the Diocese of Toledo and served as an associate pastor at Holy Angels, Sandusky; St. Joseph, Sylvania and St. Charles, Lima. He served as pastor at Our Lady of Mercy, Fayette; Our Lady of Fatima, Lyons; Immaculate Conception, Toledo; Little Flower, Toledo and was currently the pastor of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon, Ohio.
A Reception of the Body and Vespers are at 5 p.m. today with visitation until 9 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon.
A Reception of the Body and Vespers will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday with visitation until 9 p.m. at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria with Bishop James R. Hoffman presiding. A Burial-Rite of Committal will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, Fostoria.

William T. Naylor
William T. Naylor, 87, of Atlanta, Ga., died Saturday March 2, 2002. He was born in Tiffin.
Surviving are his wife, Marie J. (Rabern) Naylor; a granddaughter; a sister, Mary Naylor Doemel of Tiffin; step sons Richard Dwight Rabern of Macon, Ga. and Jeff M. Rabern of Dunwoody, Ga.; a step daughter, Mrs. Joe (Linda Rabern) Coble of Stone Mountain., Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
His wife; a son, Dr. William T. Naylor Jr.; a brother, John Edward Naylor; and a sister Jane Cornelia Naylor, are deceased.
Services are at 2 p.m. today in St. Anne's Episcopal Church. Interment will be in Arlington Memorial Park.
The H.M. Patterson and Son, Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, Atlanta, Ga., are in charge of arrangements.
Betty L. Bennett
Betty L. Bennett, 74, of 901 Williston Ave., Fostoria, died at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday March 5, 2002, in the Independence House, Fostoria.
She was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Tiffin, to the late Vinton H. and Leota Mae (Hill) Cooley. Her husband, Dale W. Bennett, whom she married
March 2, 1946, in Fostoria, survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Brenda Kay Cole of Fostoria and Mrs. Stephen (Janet Sue) Kuhn of Tiffin; two granddaughters, Christine L.and Robyn D. Cole; a grandson, Ryan B. Reid; three great-grandchildren, Cory J. Gwiner, Katelynd M. Reid and Amanda K. Flaherty; a brother, Jack E. Cooley of Burgoon; and three sisters, Geraldine M. Buckner of Fostoria, Leota "Doll" Agerter and Loretta Fox, both of Tiffin.
Five brothers and three sisters also are deceased.
Mrs. Bennett was employed as a laborer for 34 years at the former Home Window Co. in Fostoria. Also a teacher's aide at Field Elementary School in Fostoria, she was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary 421, American Legion Auxiliary Post 73 and life member of Eagles Auxiliary 430, all of Fostoria.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday March 8, in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Dr. Larry W. Knigga officiating. Interment will be in Knollcrest Gardens, near Arcadia.
Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Irene Layman, 72, of Miamisburg, formerly of Fostoria, died Thursday Feb. 28, 2002 at the Northwest Medical Center,Tucson, Ariz.
She was born July 18,1929, in Tiffin, to Benjamin and Beulah (Andrews) Kershner. On July 31, 1955, in TIffin, she married
Eldon Layman. He survives.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Russell and Kenneth Work of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Ellen) Love and Mrs. Gregory (Julie) Horner, both of Dayton; two sisters, Kathleen Schultz of Tiffin and Darlene McMillen of Strongsville; two step sisters, Florence Rider and Thelma Jones and a step brother, Paul Work, all of Tuscon; and 6 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, at the Marsh Funeral Home, Lucky. Burial will be in Troy Township cemetery, Lucky.
John David Tapp
John David Tapp, 53, died Saturday March 2, 2002, in Ohio. He was born Dec. 28, 1948 in Walker County, Ga. to the late John and Lula Mae (Reynolds) Tapp.
Survivors include: a son, John David Jr. of Ringgold, Ga.; two brothers, Eddie Lee Tapp and Trion Tapp, both of Dalton, Ga.; three daughters, Betty Tapp of Commerce, Ga., Judy Tapp of Summerville, Ga. and Martha Tapp, of Trenton, Ga.; a step daughter, Misty Bordner of Bucyrus; two sisters, Mrs. Donnie (Martha) Brooks and Wanda Lee Tapp, both of Summerville; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services and visitation were Tuesday at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral with burial in Summervile cemetery.
