Daryl Perkins
Daryl Perkins, of Omaha, NE., formerly of Tiffin, died on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002. He was born Feb. 27, 1947 to the late Roy and Teval (Miller) Perkins.
Surviving include: a son, Michael Perkins of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Tammy Cootes of Tiffin; five sisters, Mrs. Dolores Agerter, Mrs. Ruth Rospert, Mrs. Shirley Keat, Mrs. Sharon O'Nan, all of Tiffin, and Mrs. Phyllis Raitz of Mesquite, Tex.; two brothers, Marvin Perkins of Sandera Park, N.M., and Raymond Perkins of Tiffin; five grandchildren; and grandmother Mrs. Essie Bright.
The funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002.
Marilyn Foos Campbell
Marilyn Foos Campbell, 75, of 114 Greenwood Hts., Bellevue, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, in Bellevue Hospital.
She was born March 20, 1926, in Bellevue to Ray and Delphine (Molyet) Foos. She married
Jack E. Campbell June 10, 1950, in the Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue; and he survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Scott Campbell; a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Kim) Wampler, Maumee; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue, with burial following in Bellevue Catholic cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the Foos and Son Funeral home, Bellevue, with the rosary being recited at 3:30 p.m.
Ardinell Elizabeth Koller
Ardinell Elizabeth Koller, 88, of Tiffin, Ohio, died Thursday Feb. 21, 2002, in St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
She was born Feb. 3, 1914, in Tiffin, to the late Hiram and Bertha (Boehler) Banks. On Nov. 21, 1941, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married
Nicholas Anthony Koller Jr. He died May 1, 1982.
Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Edward (Mary Ann) Streacker of Fremont, Ohio, Mrs. David (Jane E.) Dow and Peg Wenner, both of Tiffin; six grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren; a sister, Eileen Banks of Tiffin; and a brother, George Burton Banks, also of Tiffin..
Also preceding her in death were a sister, Margaret Kuhn; three brothers, Richard, Willard and James Banks; and a great-granddaughter, who was stillborn.
Mrs. Banks was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, its Rosary Altar Society and the Women's Choir.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday Feb. 25, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with Msgr. Edward Dunn officiating. The rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Tiffin.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, Tiffin.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis Home, Calvert Tuition Assistance or the donor's choice.
Helen L. Altman
Helen L. Altman, 81, of 5249 CR 29A, Carey, died at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002 in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
She was born Aug. 21, 1920, in Amanda Twp., Hancock County, to Harry E. and Glaydes (Nichols) Orwick. She married
Charles O. Altman in Napoleon Oct. 3, 1947; and he died May 16, 1970.
She is survived by: a brother, Dennis E. Orwick of Carey; a sister, Mrs. Monroe (Violet) Risner of Carey; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with burial in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.
Visitation is noon-2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Edna Heifner
Edna Heifner, 81, formerly of Mulberry St., Clyde, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, in Medical College of Toledo.
She was born in Clyde to Lester and Ruth (Joseph) Spraw on April 18, 1920. She married
Loren E. Heifner March 1, 1941; and he died April 4, 1983.
Survivors include: a brother, Carl Spraw of Florida; two sisters, Mrs. James (Nina) Waterfield and Mrs. Walter (Ruth) Nobles of Clyde; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with interment in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Genevieve Schreiner
Genevieve Schreiner, 82, formerly of 859 Miami St., Tiffin, died at 8:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in St. Francis Nursing Home, Tiffin.
She was born in Seneca County on Sept. 25, 1919, to Frank A. and Mary (Elchert) Schreiner. She married
Joseph Schreiner Nov. 4, 1936, at St. Boniface Catholic Church; and he is deceased.
Survivors include: three sons, Joseph "Jim" (Pat) Schreiner, Richard (Mary) Schreiner, and Gerald (Jane) Schreiner, all of Tiffin; a daughter, Elizabeth (Ken) Breidenbach of Bloomville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marion Schreiner and Edmund Schreiner, both of New Riegel, Ohio; and a sister, Clarene Gase of Monclova, Ohio.
Preceding her in death were: a son, Robert Schreiner; a grandson, Jeffrey Brickner; and two brothers, Wilferd and Earl Schreiner.
She retired as an aide at Seneca County Home. She also had previously worked at Tiffin Glass House. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.
The Rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in St. Joseph Catholic Church followed by the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be conducted at 8:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and Community Hospice Care in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
Homer M. Thomas
Homer M. Thomas, 85, of North Sandusky Street, Bellevue, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002 in Bellevue Care Center, Bellevue.
He was born Oct. 9, 1916, in Carey to Rev. Harv and Rose Thomas. He married
Etta Arnett Natole in June of 1959 and she survives along with three stepsons; a daughter; a granddaughter; two brothers; and a sister.
Family services will be conducted with interment in Hickory Grove cemetery, Tiffin.
Arrangements are being made by the Auxter Funeral Home, Bellevue.
William S. 'Bill' Lee
William S. "Bill" Lee, 87, formerly of Fostoria, died at 4:57 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, in Autumn Court, Ottawa.
He was born Oct. 23, 1914, in Napoleon to Clayton and Vera (Stykmain) Lee. He married
Mary Ruth Wyer and she survives in Arlington.
Other survivors include: four sons, William R. of Columbia, S.C., Raymond A. of Norfolk, Va., Donnell of Fostoria, and David of Greenback, Tenn.; three stepdaughters, Denise Powell of Findlay, Dawn Hindel of Arlington, and Diane Harden of Texas; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, at a later date.
There will be private family visitation at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Leone Elizabeth Nye
Leone Elizabeth Nye, 100, formerly of Port Clinton, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in the Providence Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born Oct. 18, 1901, in Fostoria to Nicholas and Catherine (Goshe) Frankart. She married
Arthur "Art" Nye Aug. 5, 1924, in Fostoria. He died Sept. 29, 1985.
Survivors include: two daughters, Janice Jensen of Seattle, Wash., and Carol "Susie" Miller of Port Clinton; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Prayer will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Gerner-Wolf-Brossia-Marsh Funeral Home, Port Clinton, followed at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. Interment will be in Roose cemetery, Oak Harbor.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with a parish wake service at 3 p.m.
Paul R. Kastner
Paul Richard Kastner, 84, of 27 Fulton Court, Tiffin, Ohio, died at 2:24 p.m. Sunday Feb. 24, 2002, in Mercy Hospital, after an extended illness.
He was born on June 19, 1917, in Tiffin, to the late Joseph S. and Margaret (Zapf) Kastner. He married
Marilyn A. Hamilton on March 2, 1946, in St. Ann's Church, Fremont, Ohio, and she survives.
Survivors also include: a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Carol) Coleman of Tiffin; four sons, James (Jean) Kastner of Findlay, Joseph (Cookie) Kastner of Tiffin, John (Denise) Kastner of Tiffin and Michael (Betsey) Kastner of Bellevue; 13 grandchildren, Laura Replogle, Beth and Jason Coleman, Carrie Beltz, Andrew Kastner, Amy Kastner-Drown, Angela Lambert, Amanda Kastner, Kristen and Erika Kastner and Michelle, Melissa and Matthew Kastner; five great-grandchildren, Brittany Beltz, MacKenzie Johnson-Coleman, Sydney and David Lambert and Rudy Replogle.. He is also survived by a brother, George Kastner of Tiffin. Preceding him in death was a grandson, Adam Kastner; two brothers, William and Raymond Kastner and a sister, Mary Jo Gase.
Mr. Kastner retired from Webster Mfg. Co. on July 1, 1982, after 44 years, where he was a molder in the foundry department. He was a member of the Webster Quarter Century Club. He also was owner of Paul's Dog Grooming for several years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, graduated from St. Joseph School and attended Calvert High School.
He was a member of the Army Aircorp during World War II, serving 37 months in the European Theater of Operations. He was stationed at Burtonwood Airforce Base in England.
He was a staunch Notre Dame football fan and enjoyed listening to the Detroit Tigers. His hobby was wood-working and he loved music and loved to sing. His greatest enjoyment was just being with his family.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday Feb. 28, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Msgr. Edward Dunn officiating. A rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. .Joseph cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to I.C.C.U.of Mercy Hospital, Autumnwood Care Center or a charity of the donor's choice.
Karl H. Siegle
Karl H. Siegle, 77, of 3570 W. Seneca TR 92, New Riegel, Ohio, died Sunday Feb. 24, 2002, at his residence.
He was born March 23, 1924, in Miedelsbach, Germany, to the late Karl H. and Louise P. (Singer) Siegle. On May 22, 1965, in Melmore United Methodist Church, he married
Margie Morter. She survives.
Other survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Carol) McDannell of New Riegel, Cheryl Siegle of Tiffin and Karla and Barbara Siegle, both of New Riegel; and a granddaughter, Alyssa Ann Louise McDannell. Karl's entire family was present when he passed away.
A graduate of Cass Tech High School in Detroit, Mr. Siegle received his bachelor of science in aeronautical engineering from Lawrence Institute of Technology in Detroit. He also received his teaching certification from Bowling Green State University and Heidelberg College. He taught at New Riegel High School for 33 years. He also was an engineer at Ford Motor Co.
He was a member of Melmore United Methodist Church, Ohio Education Association, National Education Association; held several patents; designed several buildings in the local area; was inducted into the New Riegel Hall of Fame and was a Martha Jennings Scholar. He received several other awards through the school system; started the Industrial Arts program at New Riegel and the Occupational Work Experience Program, then taught math, chemistry and physics.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 27, in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. Howard Huston officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of the service, at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to New Riegel Local Schools Karl Siegle Memorial Fund and Melmore United Methodist Church.
Austin A. Roberts Sr.
Austin Anderson Roberts Sr., 73, of 706 Balsley Ave., Findlay, Ohio, was called home at 1:45 a.m. Saturday Feb. 23, 2002, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.
He was born Dec. 30, 1928, in Findlay, to Ernest L. Roberts and Carrie M. Anderson, both deceased.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (Pike) Roberts; 10 children, Austin (Sheila) Roberts Jr., Larry (Michelle) Roberts, Michael (Alice) Roberts, Kathy (Jesse) Cain, Debra (Jesse) Latham, Mark (Lynn) Roberts, Phillip (Tina) Roberts, Joan (Gerardo) Saldana, Robert "Tracy" Roberts, Cheryl Roberts; two sisters, Rowena (Wilbur) Marshall and Nova Maxine (James) Williams; 29 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Lucille (Werner) Roberts; three brothers, Melvin, Comptom and Val Jean (Dick) and a daughter, Susan Marie.
Mr. Roberts was a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CCDC III), brick mason and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Findlay High School, attended Findlay College and completed his college education at Otero College in LaJunta, Colo.
Austin received certification as a CCDC III, and ATSI consultant, a TIPS trainer, and retired from the Lincoln Center Feb. 28, 1994. He was a member of Faith Chapel AME Church, where he served as superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday School teacher and as president of the Board of Trustees. He was captain of the Findlay High School football team, a Golden Gloves boxing champion and founder of the Findlay Athletic Boxing Club. He also was a candidate for Councilman-at-Large in 1989.
In 1983 he received the Lincoln Center Service Award and again in 1993; 1990 Counselor of the Year from the Midwest Chapter of Ohio Association of Alcohol and Golden Rule Award; 1997 the Pastor's Award from Mason Chapel; and in 1979, was nominated by the White House of the President's Service Award.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday March 1, at Stonebridge Church of God, SR 12 East, Findlay, Ohio. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery, Findlay.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today Feb. 27 and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday Feb. 28, at the Routson Funeral Chapel, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, Ohio.
Ralph H. Shaffer
Ralph H. Shaffer, 83, of 953 S. Bon Air Ave., Tiffin, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in the Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin.
He was born July 24, 1918, in Upper Sandusky to Howard and Minnie (Agerter) Shaffer. He married
Martha Correll Aug. 8, 1942, and she survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Michael R. Shaffer, Rural Route, Sycamore; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Sharon) Perry, Rural Route, Sycamore, Mrs. Gerald (Carol) Warnecke, New Riegel, and Mrs. Sam (Rebecca) Homan of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five brothers, John Shaffer of Carey, Harold Shaffer of Marion, Albert Shaffer of New Riegel, Edward Shaffer of Lovell, and Robert Shaffer of Nevada; and a sister, Eileen Shaffer of Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky.
In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were: three brothers, Glenn, Frank and Paul Shaffer; and a sister, Mary Cole.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He retired after 30 years as a machinist at Webster Manufacturing; was a 25-year member of the Webster Quarter Century Club; and liked to work and collect cars as a hobby.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. James Spurlock officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek cemetery, Seneca County.
Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Eugene J. Ley Jr.
Eugene J. Ley Jr., 68, of 1637 N. TR 101, Fostoria, Ohio, died Tuesday Feb. 26, 2002, in the Emergency Care Center of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born Sept. 26, 1933, in Tiffin, to the late Eugene J. Sr. and Villa (Shaun) Ley. On April 30, 1960, in St. Andrew's Church, he married
Mary Ann Saum, who survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Ronald E. Ley of Sylvania, Ohio; a daughter, Tracy M. Polachek of Willard, Ohio; two brothers, Lonnie Ley of Findlay, Ohio and Steve Ley of Tiffin; two sisters, Shirley Peabody of Florida and Marlene Comacho of Findlay; and three grandchildren, Adam and Matthew Ley and Cody Polachek.
A 1953 Columbian High School graduate, Mr. Ley retired from Hercules Company, located in Pemberville, Ohio, as a tool and die engineer. Then Mr. Ley worked for ICP in their maintenance department.
A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of VFW Tiffin Post 2858 and American Legion Tiffin Post 169.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas Ankenbrandt officiating.
There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care or the American Heart Association.
