Monica E. Hoffert

Monica E. Hoffert, 78, of 555 Circular St., Tiffin, died at 9:05 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at her residence.

She was born March 18, 1923, in Washington County, Ohio, to the late William P. and Amelia (Schwendeman) Engle. Her husband, Wenner Hoffert, whom she married Dec. 2, 1944, in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Republic, survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include: two sons, Michael (Kay) Hoffert of Tiffin and John (Virginia) Hoffert of Kailua, Hawaii; five daughters, Mrs. Vincent (Susan) Kennedy of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Ronald (Rebecca) Studer of Perrysburg, Ohio, Mrs. Ronald (Mary Jane) Inkrott of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Carlos (Christine) Vela of Mt.Vernon, Ohio, and Mrs. Mark (Jennifer) Schnaible of Wixom, Mich.; four brothers, Charles R. (Martha) Engle and Bernard (Sonia) Engle, all of Vero Beach, Fla., William ( Eileen) Engle of Lowell, Ohio, and James (Carolyn) Engle of Pataskala, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Elwood (Marian) Hoffert of Tiffin, Mrs. Kenneth (Jeanne) Glover of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. Floyd (Martha Jane) Williams of Vienna, Va., and Mrs. Joe (Zita) Izzo of Wilson, Wyo.; 16 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death were a sister, Sister Beatrice Engle, OP, and two brothers, Sylvan and Glenn Engle.

Mrs. Hoffert was a graduate of Lowell High School and had also attended Tiffin University.

She retired from Tiffin Bake Shop, having worked for 10 years. She also worked as an executive secretary at Hanson Machinery Company in Tiffin.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin; the Rosary Altar Society; the Josephines Club; and the Elizabeth Seton Mothers Study Club.

A funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. James Say will be the officiant. A rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Rock Creek cemetery in rural Tiffin.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, (419) 447-3113.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, or to the Josephines, in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Lila Frisch

Lila Frisch, 76, of Fostoria, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at the Toledo Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Marganne M. Sherrard

Marganne M. Sherrard, 53, of 1570 Pelton Road, Fostoria, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Fostoria Community Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Kathleen H. Roberts

Kathleen H. Roberts, 79, of 461 W. Lytle Street, Fostoria, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Care Center, Findlay.

She was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Maurice and Lydia (Seyer) McCarthy. Both are deceased. She was married to Sanford Roberts. They divorced. He died in 1994.

Survivors include: five sons, David J. Roberts of Arcadia and Robert E. Roberts, Steven M. Roberts, Dennis R. Roberts and John P. Roberts, all of Findlay; two sisters, Colleen Skoglund of Dubuque, Iowa, and Geraldine Gano of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, Tim McCarthy of Freeport, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. A Christian Wake Service will be 7:30 p.m. Monday at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Jane C. Hare

Jane C. Hare, 80, of 1000 Independence Rd., Fostoria, Ohio and formerly of Cambridge, Ohio, died at 6 p.m. Sunday Jan. 13, 2002, at the Independence House, Fostoria.

She was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Cambridge, Ohio, to the late Ebenezer J. and Cecile A. (Buckingham) Burris. On May 25, 1941, in Cambridge, she married Robert M. Hare. He died July 29, 1996.

Surviving are three sons, the Rev. Robert H. (Peggy) Hare of Orlando, FL, Thomas R. (Carolyn) Hare of Fostoria, Ohio and Edward J. (Nancy) Hare of Massillon, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Elizabeth J.) Gibbs of Casper, Wyo.; two brothers, Robert H. and Donald F. Burris, both of Cambridge, Ohio; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Homer E., Walter A. and Joseph D. Burris; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Curtis.

A homemaker, Mrs. Hare, graduated in 1938 from Cambridge High School. She was a member of Tops Club and Faith United Methodist Church, both of Cambridge and attended Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday Jan. 18, at the Thorn-Black Funeral Home, 139 S. 9th St., Cambridge, Ohio, with the Rev. Mick Foster officiating. Interment will be in Northwood cemetery, Cambridge, Ohio.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge.

Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 500 S. 7th St., Cambridge, Ohio 43725.

Robert G. Bridinger

Robert G. Bridinger, 73, 165 Hillcrest Drive, Tiffin, Ohio, died at his home Monday Jan. 14, 2002.

He was born June 10, 1928, in Seneca County, Ohio, to the late Owen and Maude (Stuckey) Bridinger. His wife, Betty J. (Raitz) Bridinger, whom he married Jan. 22, 1954, in St. Joseph Church, survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Mary Jean) Naugle of Tiffin, Ohio; a sister, Mary Jane Hyden of Tampa, FL.; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Daniel, Bradley and Gena Naugle. Five brothers, Austin, Russel, Harry, George and Billy Bridinger; and four sisters, Mina Wise, Illa Stump, Bell Distel and Sybil Higgins, also are deceased/

Mr. Bridinger retired from the Basic as a store room attendant after 26 years of service. An avid golfer, he was a member of Tiffin Moose Lodge 846.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 16, in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, St. Mary Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Beaurita Faye York

Beaurita Faye "Taco" York, 48, of 26025 Mitchell Way, Eustis, Fla. died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002. She was born on Dec. 10, 1953, in Norton, Va.

She was married to Palmer York and he survives. Also surving are: a son, Keith Bobbitt of Shelby, N.C.; a step-son, Billy York of Apopka, Fla.; a daughter, Lorie Anne Bobbitt of Shelby, N.C.; a step-daughter, Jerrie Lee York of Apopka, Fla.; four brothers, Joe Buchanan of Bellevue, John Buchanan of Augusta, Ga., Ted Buchanan of Upper Sandusky,and Ed Buchanan of Bellevue; three sisters, Jennie Jenkins of Tiffin, Shawna Darlene Hodge of Ivanhoe, Va., and Zelda Jones of Shelby, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are with the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home in Eustis, Fla.

James A. Stanley

James A. "Art" Stanley, 87, of Brown Street, Clyde, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at the Arbors in Clyde. He was born on Feb. 9, 1914, in Van Lear, Ky. to Joe and Myrtle Prater Stanley, both of whom are deceased. He married Augusta Terry on June 24, 1939, and she survives.

Survivors include: two sons, James Adrian (Marie) Stanley of Marietta and Larry Joe (Thelma) Stanley of Fremont; a sister, Susan A. Adams of Ashland, Ky.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were three brothers: Woodrow, Joe, Jr., Charles Mephard Stanley and a sister, Genevieve Riley.

Mr. Stanley was a veteran of World War II in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Services will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Freewill Baptist, North Main Street, Clyde. Internment will be in McPeherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.

Dale L. Williams

Dale L. Williams, 83, formerly of Sandusky CR 213, Clyde, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at the Arbors in Clyde. He was born on Oct. 12, 1918, in Clyde to Leroy H. and Bernice Young Williams, both of whom are deceased. He married Donnajean Collins on Nov. 12, 1939 and she died Oct. 27, 1998.

Survivors include: three sons, James A. Williams of Matlacna, Fla., Charles L. (Mary) Williams and Michael L. Williams of Clyde; two daughters, Susan Myers and Mrs. Timothy (Cynthia) Murphy of Clyde; 12 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Gerald and Richard.

Mr. Williams served with the Army in World War II.

Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25 at the First United Methodist Church in Clyde with the Rev. John Bailey officiating.

Betty C. Parker

Betty C. Parker, 77, formerly of North Sandusky Avenue, Upper Sandusky, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at the Wyandot Manor Nursing Home in Upper Sandusky. She was born on Feb. 12, 1924, in Hardin County to Burle and Fairy (Joliff) Reed, both of whom are deceased. She married Medford Parker on Nov. 16, 1951, in Greenup, Ky. and he died Nov. 4, 1974.

Survivors include: a son, Michael Parker of Marion; two daughters, Kathleen Handley of Mansfield and Susan Walters of Lima; a brother, Larry Lee Reed of Pensacola, Fla.; four sisters, Maxine Cupp of Sumter, N.C., Mrs. Mary Barber of Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Harold (Bernice) Durer and Mrs. Paul (Marie) Shuey, both of Tiffin; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Reed, Neal Reed and an infant brother; and two sisters, Ruth and Fairy.

Services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Charles Steward officiating. Internment will be in the Oak Hill cemetery in Upper Sandusky.

Visitation is today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Linda L. 'Welty' Kohlenberg

Linda L."Welty" Kohlenberg, 57, 28 Nile St., Tiffin, Ohio, died Monday Jan. 14, 2002, in The Toledo Hospital, Toledo, Ohio.

She was born Aug. 5, 1944, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Donald G. and Sarah Lucille (Kirian) Welty. She married Thomas Kohlenberg, and they were later divorced. He survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. James (Sonia) Smith of Modesto, CA and Teresa Kohlenberg of Pittsburg, CA; a son, Thomas Kohlenberg Jr. of Pittsburg, CA; two sisters, Mrs. David (Nancy) Fleeman of Tiffin, Ohio and Mrs. James (Donna Jean) Williams of Modesto, CA; four grandchildren, Matthew, Natalie, Heather and April; four nieces and two nephews, four great nieces and three great nephews. Two brothers, Donald and Charles Welty, also are deceased.

A Calvert High School graduate, Mrs. Kohlenberg was a homemaker. A U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the 1960s, she was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin Eagles Auxiliary 402 and a life member of Women of the Moose in Modesto, CA.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday Jan. 18, in St. Francis Chapel, Green Springs, Ohio, with the Rev. Ray Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Council..

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Wenner C. Hoffert

Wenner C. Hoffert, 78, 555 Circular St., Tiffin, Ohio, died at 5:41 p.m. Monday Jan. 14, 2002, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born Sept. 19, 1923, in Eden township to the late William Jacob and Anna Lucretia (Stever) Hoffert. On Dec. 2, 1944, in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Republic, Ohio, he married Monica E. Engle, who died Jan. 11, 2002.

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Kay) Hoffert of Tiffin, John (Virginia) Hoffert of Kailua, HI; five daughters, Susan (Vincent) Kennedy of Seattle, WA, Rebecca (Ronald) Studer of Perrysburg, Ohio; Mary Jane (Ronald) Inkrott of Columbus, Ohio; Christine (Carlos) Vela of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Jennifer (Mark) Schnaible of Wixom, MI; a brother, Dr. Elwood J. (Marian) Hoffert of Tiffin, Ohio; a sister, Gaetta Murray of Tiffin, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A brother, Morris Hoffert and two sisters, Mildred Reider and Margery Juniper, also are deceased.

Mr. Hoffert, a 1941 Melmore High School graduate, retired as a master machinist from the National Machinery, where he had worked for 44 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, National Quarter Century Club, VFW Post 2858 and VMSB 331 Squadron. He was a US Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a tail gunner in a dive bomber in the Marshall Islands of the Pacific Theater. During the service he received seven Distinguished Flying Crosses and 23 Air Medals.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday Jan. 17, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Say officiating. The rosary will be recited at the church at 10:45 a.m. before the funeral Mass. Burial will be in Rock Creek cemetery, rural Tiffin, with full military rites being performed by WPNS Company, First Battalion, 24th United States Marine Corps..

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today Jan. 16, at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio (419) 447-3113. The National Quarter Century Club will meet at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, Bellevue, in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Annabelle Moses

Annabelle Moses, 90, formerly of 172 Gibson Court, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at the Hearth and Home at Friedman Village in Tiffin. She was born in Tiffin on July 26, 1911, to J. Otto and Lottie (Crum) Martin, both of whom are deceased. She married Robert O. Moses on Feb. 9, 1945, in Marion, Ind. and he died April 4, 1984.

Survivors include: a brother-in-law, Frank M. (Betty) Moses; nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were a brother and a sister, Mildred Voss.

Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home, Tiffin is in charge of the arrangements. Graveside service will be at a later date. Internment will be in Greenlawn cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Betty L. Shanabrook

Betty L. Shanabrook, 79, a resident of Hennis Care Center in Dover for the past five and one half years, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, following an extended illness. Her husband, Andrew Shanabrook preceded her in death on March 1, 1981.

Survivors include: a son, Larry A. (Beth) Shanabrook of Tiffin; a daughter, Andrea K. Shanabrook and her companion Larry Lloyd of Dover; a granddaughter, Lorena Ann Shanabrook of Toledo; a sister-in-law, Anne Shanabrook; a niece, nephew, and several cousins.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Internment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia.

Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kenneth Paul Herman Sr.

Kenneth Paul Herman, Sr.,83, of 424 Burnham Drive, Fostoria, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria. He was born on Aug. 14, 1918, in Sandusky County to John "Doc" and Lucille (Ott) Herman, both of whom are deceased. He married Genevieve E. Davis on April 25, 1942, in St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Oregon and she survives.

Other survivors include: four sons, Thomas Paul (Kathy) Herman of Alvada, Donald J. (Tena) Herman of Bucyrus, Kenneth E. (Kathy) Herman and James (Paula) Herman, both of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Jere (Kathleen) Witt of Martin and Mrs. Henry (Janine) Schultz of Fostoria; two sisters, Peggy Sullivan of Crystal Lake, Ill. and Dorothy Brown of Toledo; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Edward Herman.

He was a World War II Army Air Corp. veteran.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. in St.Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Thursday and 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Internment will be in the St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, Fostoria. Graveside military honors will be provided by the United Veteran's of Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Pamela E. Robinson

Pamela E. Robinson, 57, of 4010 TR 1098, Tiffin, died at 11:26 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. She was born Aug. 28, 1944, in Portland, Ind. to the late George T. and Mary Lois (Humphries) Payne. She was married on Feb. 11, 1969, to Duane Robinson in Monroe, Mich. and he survives.

Other survivors include: Stepmother Lois Payne of Tiffin; two sons, Bruce E. Robinson of Columbus and William L. Robinson of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Douglas (Vickie) Graham of Tiffin.

Mrs. Robinson lived most of her life in Tiffin where she was a homemaker and a former custodian at Old Fort School. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and a graduate of Columbian High School.

Services will be held on a later date at Turner- Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice.
