Betty D. Hatfield
Betty D. Hatfield, 70, of Fostoria, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.
She was born May 14, 1931, in Fostoria to Bevon G. and Delilah E. (McGough) Painter. Both are deceased. She married
Charles W. Hatfield on Oct. 7, 1950, in Ft. Wayne, Ind. He survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: three sons, Dr. Jeffrey Hatfield of Marysville, and Timothy and Gregory Hatfield, both of Fostoria; a brother, Thomas C. Painter of Fostoria; a sister, Mrs. Ronald E. (Sally Jo) Harden of Fostoria; a step-sister, Mrs. Paul (Mary) Brown of Carey; seven grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Church of the Nazarene, Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest cemetery near Arcadia.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria.
Paul H. Sherer
Paul H. Sherer, 87, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002. He grew up in the Republic area.
Paul was the son of the late Adam M. and Edith M. (Hekert) Sherer. He was first married
to Yvonne Drinkwater of Tiffin, later they divorced and he married
Evelyn Kromer of Bascom.
He retired in 1980 from Daniel's Motor's Freight in Cleveland. His hobbies included fishing and golfing. He was a long time member of the Eagles and had lived most of his life in Cleveland.
Deceased are his four brothers, Fred, Luther, Ralph and Don Sherer, and his sister, Thelma (Sherer) Powell.
Surviving is his wife Evelyn of Cleveland. His children are Gene (Pat) Sherer, Lanny (Judy) Sherer, John (Sherri) Sherer of Tiffin and Ronald (Sarah) Sherer, Darlene Sherer, Diane (Mike) Pozzuto of Cleveland and Steve Sherer of Tennesee. He has eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
His memorial service was in Cleveland on Monday.
Steve Buko
Steve Buko, 77, of 4185 N. CR 37, Tiffin, passed into heavenly fields on Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
He was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Tokod, Komarom Hungary, to Paul and Barbara (Horvath) Buko. Both are deceased. He married
Maria Lachner on March 6, 1947, in Germany.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Maria, four daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. G.D. (Maria M. Buko) Buchanan of Hamilton, ON., Canada; Mr. and Mrs. Gary (Barbara) Misko of Findlay, Mr. and Mrs. John (Elizabeth Buko) Kiesel of Bloomville, and Mr. and Mrs. Ron (Margaret) LeWare of Schenectady, N.Y., two grandsons, Paul and Andrew Kiesel; a brother, Laszio Buko and a sister, Maria Farkas, both of Hungary; and other extended family members.
A sister, Elizabeth Soos is deceased.
Mr. Buko immigrated to the U.S. with his wife Maria, and one daughter. He has been a resident of Tiffin since 1949. He became a U.S. citizen on March 21, 1957.
Buko worked at the Tiffin Glass House, the Church Furniture Mfg., Co. and he retired from the National Machinery Co. He had farmed since 1973.
Organizations included: Fremont Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 712; Moose Lodge 846; and National Machinery Quarter Century Club.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin.
The rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Thursday followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church with Monsignor Edward Dunn officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, Tiffin. There will be an Eagles service at 6:45 p.m. followed by National Machinery Quarter Century Club members will meet in body at 7 p.m., and a Wake Service at 7:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph School; Calvert High School; "Home Away From Home" in care of St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center of Toledo, or a charity of the donor's choice.
Dr. Richard Kaiser
Dr. Richard Kaiser, loving husband, father and grandfather, died Sunday Dec. 30, 2001, in Bay Pines Veterans Hospital, Fla.
He was born Aug. 26, 1923, in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Survivors include: his loving wife Alia; sons, Nicholas Kaiser of Starksboro, VT, Burke Kaiser of Buena Vista, CO, David Brake of Clearwater, FL, Kelly Brake of Long Island, NY, John Brake of Dunedin, FL, Andrew Brake of Swanton, Ohio; a daughter, Samira Anderson of Northfield, MN; a brother, Robert Kaiser of Pataskala, Ohio; and 15 grandchildren.
Dr. Kaiser served in World War II as a navigator and bombardier, earning two Bronze stars . A retired clinical psychologist, he had an office in Tiffin 1988-95. He was a member of Clearwater Community Church and has been active in Yokefellows, Hospice, the Ohio Psychological Association, serving with distinction in the fields of education, consultation and counseling.
Funeral services were Jan. 3 with burial in Bay PIns National cemetery, Bay Pines, Fla.

Mary K. Gibson
Mary K. Gibson, 83, of 110 N. Liberty St., Attica, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 6, 2002, at the Norwalk Memorial Home in Norwalk.
She was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Findlay, to the late Bruce and Minnie (Burnside) Harper. She married
Oliver E. Gibson on Sept. 15, 1938, in Findlay, and he died in 1987.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Donna K.) Nagel Jr. of Attica; a son, Thomas Gibson of Henderson, Nevada; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Ziesemer and Grace Tewell.
Mrs. Gibson worked for 13 years as an Air Force employee. She was also the church organist for many years.
She was a member of the Attica Baptist Church, NARFE of Tiffin, and the Senior Citizens of Attica.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. James Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Attica-Venice cemetery in Attica.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Seneca East Public Library or to the Attica Baptist Church.
Jack D. Greenhawk
Jack David Greenhawk, 66, of East New Market, MD, died early Sunday morning Jan. 6, 2002, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, MD. where he had been hospitalized since Dec. 10, 2001, after suffering a heart attack at the Cambridge Bowling Center.
Born on Feb. 8, 1935, in Cambridge, MD, he was the son of the late Norman E. Greenhawk and Aileen S. Jackson Greenhawk.
Mr. Greenhawk worked at Cambridge Wire Cloth Co. for 45 years, beginning his career in the Fabrication Department. He also worked in the Electric Shop and held various supervisory positions throughout the company. He retired in August of 1998, as the supervisor of Special Products manufacturing.
Mr. Greenhawk was proud to be a farmer. He knew, respected and loved every inch of his farm. He loved being with his family and friends. He was an avid sport fisherman and enjoyed taking his family traveling to see the country. Mr. Greenhawk was most content being outdoors. He appreciated its beauty and never took it for granted.
Mr. Greenhawk was a supporter of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Secretary, MD. He was a life member of Cambridge Elks Lodge 1272 and the National AARP. Mr. Greenhawk, a bowler for many years, was also a member of the Greater Eastern Shore Bowling Association and bowled on the Cambridge Ten Pin League for the American Legion Post 91 team.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Marie Roberts Greenhawk, a daughter Carolyn G. Hallowell and her husband John; a son, Edwin D. Greenhawk and his wife Beth, all of East New Market, MD; a brother, Leonard E. Greenhawk of Church Creek, MD; three grandchildren,,John H. Hallowell III, Stephanie M. Hallowell and Matthew E. Hallowell; a step-granddaughter, Leslie Bradley; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sylvia Greenhawk of Church Creek, MD, Anne and Freddie Windsor of Beaver Neck Rd., Cambridge, MD, Betty and Richard Williams of Tiffin, Ohio; and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death besides his parents was a brother, Thomas J. Greenhawk.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., 308 High St., Cambridge, MD 21613, where a Christian Wake will be held at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday morning at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Secretary, MD. Celebrant of the Mass will be the Rev. Anthony F. Greco. Burial will follow in the adjoining churchyard.
Pallbearers will be John H. Hallowell III, Stephanie M. Hallowell, Matthew E. Hallowell, John R. Windsor, George L. Windsor and Tim B. Windsor.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Theron Greenhawk, William Greenhawk, Charles T. Turner, Scott Cameron, Everett Creighton, Theodore Dragich, Mark Marshall and Fred Thomas.
Memorial offerings may be made, in Mr. Greenhawk's memory, to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, P.O. 279, Secretary, MD 21664.
Noelle Margaret Hohman
Noelle Margaret Hohman, 10 days old, of Bradner Road, Luckey, Ohio, died at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday Jan. 8, 2002, in St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.
She was born Dec. 29, 2001, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Ray and Stacy (Nonnemaker) Hohman. They survive.
Other survivors include: paternal grandfather, Norbert Hohman of Tiffin, Ohio; maternal grandparents, Noel and Shirley Nonnemaker of Tiffin, Ohio; aunts and uncles, Brett and Anne Nonnemaker, Lou and Carol Hohman, Nancy Frisch, Milly Michener, Sue Hohman, Carl and Marlene Hohman and Marilyn and Dick Metzger. Many cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by an uncle, Dale Hohman; and her paternal grandmother, Agnes (Keefe) Hohman.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday Jan. 11, 2002, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev .James Say officiating. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic cemetery, New Riegel, Ohio.
Visitation will be private at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Dale L. Williams
Dale L. Williams, 83, of Clyde, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Arbors of Clyde.
He was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Clyde to the late Leroy H. and Bernice (Young) Williams. He married
Donnajean Collins on Nov. 12, 1939. She preceded him in death Oct. 27, 1998.
Survivors include three sons, Charles L. of Clyde, James A. of Matlacha, Fla., and Michael L. of Clyde; two daughters, Susan Myers and Mrs. Timothy (Cynthia) Murphy, both of Clyde; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Williams was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Catherine M. Harp
Catherine M. Harp, 79, of Sycamore, died at 7:05 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, in Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Sycamore on June 27, 1922, to Glenn G. and Iadell (Shedenhelm) Sowers-Rodgers. Both are deceased. She married
Frank C. Harp in 1958 and he died in 1994.
Survivors include: a brother, Lonney Rodgers of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister, Mrs. Eugenia Borboa of Upper Sandusky; two half-brothers, William H. Sowers of Findlay and Robert J. Sowers of Sycamore, and a half-sister, Mrs. Carolyn Trumbo of Sycamore.
A Memorial Service will take place in Las Vegas at a later date. The body has been cremated and burial will be in Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas.
Local arrangements are in the care of Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore.
Charlotte M. McDannell
Charlotte M. "Gert" McDannell, 72, of Sycamore, died at 11:40 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Mount Carmel West in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born in Johnstown, Pa., on April 14, 1929, to Olive (Stegman) McDannell, who is deceased. Her stepfather, Martin McDannell is also deceased. She married
Victor B. McDannell on Nov. 9, 1946, and he died Sept. 7, 1987.
Survivors include: four sons, Glenn McDannell of McCutchenville; Larry McDannell of rural Sycamore, Bill McDannell of rural Upper Sandusky, and Carl McDannell, of Sycamore; two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Cherylann) Sheward of rural Tiffin, and Mrs. Thomas (Sandy) Branham of Fostoria; a stepson, Alvin McDannell of rural Tiffin; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Stegman of Johnstown, Pa., three half-brothers, Aaron McDannell of Herndon, Va., Martin McDannell of Butler, Pa., and Billy McDannell of Rockingham, Pa.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Albert C. Clinger
Albert C. "Possum" Clinger, 90, of Delphos, Ohio, died at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born February 12, 1911, in Delphos, to the late William H. and Catherine (Schmidt) Clinger. He married
Mildred Pearl Butler and she died on March 26, 1985.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Victor (Sharon) Fischbach of Ottoville; a brother, Henry "Hiney" Clinger of Delphos; a grandson, Jeff and his wife Michelle Fishbach; and a granddaughter, Becky Clay.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: Jim, Willis, Paul, Kenneth and Ferman Clinger; and six sisters: Bernice Stoper, Vera Miller, Vertle Klaus, Sadie Baumgarte, Inez Foust and Iona Elder.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, with the Rev. David Howell officiating. Internment will be in Walnut Grove.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Delphos or a charity of the donor's choice.
Thomas J. Patrick
Thomas J. Patrick, 79, of 758 Nickie Lane, Fostoria died Monday, January 7 at St.Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
He was born Sept. 17, 1922 in Painsville, Ky. to the late Thomas,Sr. and Ducie(Poe) Patrick. He was married
to Helen Victoria Ridenour on June 4, 1946 and she survives in Tiffin.
Survivors also include: two sons, Thomas M. Patrick of Bascom and Robert L. Patrick of Fostoria; half-brother, Esery Poe of Bettsville and two grandchildren.
He was a WW II Army veteran.
Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Hoffman - Gottfried Funeral Home. Interment will be at Seneca Memory Gardens in Tiffin.
Visitation is Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
JoAnn L. Hemmerly
JoAnn L. Hemmerly, 63, 7 Beechwood Drive Apt. 102, Tiffin, Ohio, died Wednesday Jan. 9, 2002, in Autumnwood Care Center.
She was born July 16, 1938, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Fred and Margaret (Scheeter) Miller. Her first husband, Wilfred Frisch, whom she married
July 6, 1957, in Tiffin, Ohio, survives. She later married
Robert Hemmerly in Virginia in September 1977. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Jackie Stahl and Mrs. Lowell (Katrina) Morrison, both of Tiffin; a son, Marc Frisch, also of Tiffin; three sisters,, Mrs. Dave (Jeannette) Huffmon of Sylvania, Ohio and Shirley Bell and Mrs. Robert (Judy) Martin, both of Tiffin; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a step great-granddaughter. A sister, Mrs. Philip (Sharon) Haudenschild, also is deceased.
Mrs. Hemmerly, a member of Tiffin Women of the Moose, had been employed at Tiffin Developmental Center as a therapeutic program worker for 20 plus years.
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday Jan. 12, in the Bible Baptist Church, with James Martin officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church.
There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
