Rhonda K. Fitzpatrick
Rhonda Kay Fitzpatrick, 29, of Lindsey, Ohio, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 28, 1972, in Fremont to George and Darlene (Hummel) Low of Burgoon. She married
John Fitzpatrick Oct. 9, 1998, in Burgoon. He survives.
Survivors also include: children Autumn and Drake Cook, both of Burgoon; two sisters, Shelly Biddle of Clyde and Tina Low of Bettsville; and paternal grandmother, Julie Hummel of Fremont.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Engle-Young Funeral Home. Burial will be in Butternut cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at Engle-Young Funeral Home in Bettsville.
Dr. Maurice Newkirk
Dr. Maurice Newkirk, 86, of Waterville, Maine, and formerly of the Junior Home in Tiffin, died Dec. 12, 2001, in Waterville, Maine.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Schlatter) Newkirk; two sons, Tom and Dr. William Newkirk; and five grandchildren.
Dr. Newkirk served in the U.S. Army Malaria Survey Unit in New Guinea and the Philippines.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Richard Markham
Richard Markham, of Virginia Beach, Va., and formerly a Jr. Home graduate of 1940, died the third week of Dec. 2001, in Virginia Beach, Va., following an extended illness.
He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and was a decorated combat veteran.
Services took place on a previous date.
Eulalie V. Jones
Eulalie V. Jones, 89, 96 Franklin St., Tiffin, Ohio, died at 3:15 a.m. Monday Dec. 24, 2001, in Fall Church, Va.
She was born May 14, 1912, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to the late H.G. and Margaret D. (Hess) Bolman. On Jan. 18, 1942, in Yuma, Ariz., she married
William M. "Casey" Jones. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1973.
Surviving are four children, Kenneth Jones of Tiffin, Ohio, Dorothy Jones and Lynn Jones, both of Falls Church, Va. and Nola Logan of Tiffin, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and two nephews and a niece.
A son, Wesley Arthur Jones; a brother and three sisters, also are deceased.
A homemaker, Mrs. Jones was a graduate of North Side High School-class of 1933. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church for 50 years. and actively involved with Girl and Boy Scouts in Tiffin.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday Dec. 31, 2001, in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Margaret M. Marks officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday Dec. 30, and one hour before the service on Monday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church or the Humane Society.

Joan M. Lamson
Joan M. Lamson, 62, of Fitchville, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
She was born June 28, 1939, in Fremont to the late Gerald and Maxine (Birdsall) Lamson.
Survivors include: a sister, Mrs. Bill (Patricia) Watkins of Bettsville; two nieces, two nephews and six great-nieces and nephews.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Army WACSMEDS serving from Nov. 1958 - Nov. 3, 1960, as a Med Spec E-4.
Services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Burial will be in Green Springs cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to services, in the funeral home.
Harry A. Comeskey
Harry Albert Comeskey, 95, of Cridersville and formerly of Tiffin, died at 3:28 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Otterbein-Cridersville.
He was born Sept. 18, 1906, in Norwalk to John and Cora D. (Rose) Comeskey. He married
Evelyn Hope Welliver Oct. 18, 1926, and she survives in Cridersville.
Other survivors include: two sons, Harry Allen of Wilmington, N.C., and Donald Albert of Lima; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, John of Fremont.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, in the Zion Lutheran Church, Lima, with visitation one hour prior to the services.
Catherine Johnson Bennett
Catherine Johnson Bennett, 90, formerly of 60 SR 101, died at 10 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, in Autumnwood Care Center.
She was born Nov. 2, 1911, in Tiffin to Ellsworth and Lelia (Facinger) Field. She first married
Fred Johnson Oct. 14, 1933; and he died Jan. 3, 1980. She then married
Robert C. Bennett Feb. 14, 1984, and he survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, C. Skip Johnson of Camp Springs, Md., and D. Chuck Johnson of Wayne; a step-son, Tom Bennett of Tiffin; two step-daughters, Mrs. Dale (Betty Lou) Cramer of Upper Sandusky, and Martha Jane Schmitd of Findlay; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Eugene I. Field of Fort Seneca, and Raymond E. Field of Tiffin.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home with private burial in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
Elizabeth M. Heestand
Memorial service for Elizabeth M. Heestand, who died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, will be at 3 p.m. today in the First Presbyterian Church.
The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Walter Bloom
Walter "Bud" Bloom, 75, of Kansas, died at 7:48 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born April 25, 1926, in Findlay to Floyd E. and Ardana M. (Wagner) Bloom. He first married
Carola Betty Zippold who died in 1985. He then married
Polly (Hinkle) Endicott Feb. 14, 1986, in Calfcreek, Ky., and she survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Rick Bloom of Kingwood, W.Va., Gordon Bloom of Kansas, and Cheyenne Bloom of Tiffin; four step-sons, Lynn Endicott of Haviland, Darry Endicott of Lovely, Ky., Steve Endicott of Risingsun, and Roy Endicott of West Manchestor; two daughters, Gloria Weller of Kansas, and Dolores Dillon of Tiffin; two step-daughters, Myrtle Moes of Kansas, and Edna Jacobs of West Millgrove; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Laure Getts of Texas, Maxine Phelps of Fostoria, Janet Elerton of Port Charolotte, Fla., Donna Bomer of Bradner, and Nada Ream of South Carolina.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with burial in Kansas cemetery where Military Honors will be given by the Joint Veterans Group of Fostoria.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
John Baumgardner
John Thomas Baumgardner, 90, of 7 W. Market St., Tiffin, died at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, in Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin.
Born Nov. 4, 1911, in Tiffin, to the late Carl and Gertrude (Ehrenfried) Baumgardner, John lived on Melmore Street until 1945. His father and grandfather, Martin Baumgardner, founded Baumgardner Products Company, Tiffin's oldest building supply and concrete products manufacturing business. The Baumgardner Products Company was operated by John's father, Carl, until 1953, and is still located at 47 Miami Street.
John attended grade school at St. Joseph, graduated from Calvert High School in 1929, and attended the University of Detroit and Heidelberg College. He met Luella Dehn at Heidelberg, and they were married
at St. Joseph Catholic Church in 1936. John worked in the family business in Tiffin until Luella died in 1945, after which he moved to Toledo, and then Detroit. In Detroit he worked as a writer and, in 1953, married
the late Nida Marie Blago. John and Nida moved to Berthoud, Colorado, in 1969. In Berthoud, John founded a company that manufactured concrete decorative stones, benches, and tables and continued his writing. His artistic creations in concrete will memorialize him for a long time to come in homes throughout the United States.
John was a member of the original 12-step group founded by Dr. Bob in Ohio, and for much of his life was dedicated to helping others overcome alcohol and other addictions. He was an active and caring member of AA groups in Tiffin, Toledo, Detroit, and Berthoud. He was an avid horticulturist with extensive knowledge and experience in soil chemistry. He composed piano music and wrote poetry; some of his poetry was published in the Advertiser-Tribune.
Survivors include: two sisters, Sister Betty Baumgardner of Fremont and Mary Crates of Charlotte, N.C.; three sons, Jan Baumgardner, M.D., and Carl Forest, P.H.D, JD., both of Boulder, Colorado, and Martin Baumgardner of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Mary Sue Shay, B.S. (nursing), of Champaign, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A third sister, Martha Hamilton, of Charlotte, N.C., is deceased, and a fifth child, Frances Elizabeth Baumgardner, died shortly after birth.
The Rev. James Say will celebrate a Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, followed by a luncheon at the Upper Room of the St. Joseph Activity Center. A private burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Barbara T. Fanning
Barbara T. Fanning, 72, of 237 Circular St., Tiffin, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday
Kathryn L. Sacksteder
Kathryn L. Sacksteder, 87, of 182 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin.
Visitation hours are from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Dale C. Bohring Sr.
Dale C. Bohring Sr., 79, of W. Lytle St., Fostoria, died at 4:41 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at his home.
He was born Dec. 3, 1922, in Bloomdale, Ohio, to the late Charles and Zella (Slaughterbeck) Bohring. He married
Virginia "Ginnie" Lowery March 17, 1956, in Angola, Ind. She survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: two sons, Dale C. Bohring Jr. of Fostoria, and John Prenzlin of Union City, Tenn.; four daughters, Gay Finefrock of Tionesta, Pa., Carla Jean Forney of Sequein, Texas, Sue David of Fostoria and Sandi Hertel of Findlay; two brothers, Leo Bohring of Port Clinton and Raymond Bohring of Bloomdale; two sisters, Edna Sliffe and Joe Ann Swinehart, both of Fostoria; 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bohring was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery where the Joint Veteran Group of Fostoria will conduct military honors.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Irene E. Mason-Powell
Irene E. Mason-Powell, 90, formerly of Republic, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Eldercare Gardens in Charlottesville, Va.
She was born Sept. 20, 1911, to the late Clinton and Anna (Weiker) Moyer. She married
Melvin Mason, who died June 4, 1927. She later married
Wayne Powell. He died Jan. 6, 1979.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Lorabelle B. Gayman of Charlottesville, Va.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Edith Hemminger of Republic and Mrs. Sandra Sparks of Perrysburg; two stepsons, Daryl Powell and John Powell, both of Republic; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville. Burial will be in St. Jacob cemetery in Republic.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
