Robert M. Kern
Robert M. Kern, 87, 54 S. Washington Street (Elmwood Assisted Living at the Shawhan) and formerly of 224 Clay St., Tiffin, Ohio, died at 3:48 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in Mercy Hospital Emergency Room, Tiffin, Ohio.
He was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Melvin "Ted" and Ethel (Wagstaff) Kern. On Oct. 16, 1939, at St. Mary's, Tiffin, Ohio, he married
Juliana M. Harlett, who survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Richard Kern of McCutchenville, Ohio, Michael Kern of Ashland, Ohio, and John Kern of Tiffin, Ohio; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A 1932 Columbian High School graduate, he was a retail bread vendor for 27 years. He had retired from General Electric Company after working 17 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was an avid golfer who enjoyed many rounds at Seneca Hills and Nature Trails.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday Dec. 18, 2001, in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank Murd officiating. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio, (419) 447-3113.

Catherine Needles
Catherine "Vee" Needles, 92, of Fostoria, died at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Independence House.
She was born April 1, 1909, in Putnam County, Ohio, to the late Otto N. and Jennie V. (Derickson) Barnes. She married
Ray Kirkendall in 1928, and they divorced. She later married
Jay Needles in 1939, and they divorced.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. James (Kathy) Giesey of Fostoria; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Frederick E. Wilson
Frederick E. Wilson, 57, of Wayne, died at 9:22 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born Sept. 30, 1944, in Fostoria, to the late Cleo S. and Ruth Ann (Harrison) Wilson Jr., who survives. He married
Robin Bohmer and divorced. He later married
Nancy Augsburger on May 11, 1998, in Ravenna, and she survives in Wayne.
Survivors also include: two sons, Chris and Frederick Wilson of Newton, N.J.; a daughter, Dawn Wilson of Katy, Texas; stepdaughters, April Feindel of Fostoria and Holly Wildman of Amsden; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wilson was a U.S. Army veteran.
Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at Fountain cemetery in Fostoria where military honors will be conducted by the Joint Veterans Group of Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery.
Visitation is private.

Everett Miller
Everett "Peachy" Miller, 63, of Bucyrus, died at 1:24 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 1, 1938, in Camp Dix, Ky., to Jack and Mae (Bryant) Miller. Both are deceased. He married
Linda L. Elliott on Sept. 29, 1984, and she survives.
Survivors include: a son, Mike Miller of Bucyrus; four daughters, Lori Blankenship of Sycamore, Michelle Miller of Bucyrus, Brenda Hoffman of rural Bucyrus, and Connie Mattingly of New Albany, Ind.; two stepsons, Brian Elliott of Upper Sandusky and Sean Blair of Shiston, W. Va.; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Miller of Nevada, Ohio, and Lovell Miller of Bucyrus; and a sister, Flora Butler of Bucyrus.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, 215 N. Walnut St., Bucyrus. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
Visitation is 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Clyde M. Dillinger
Clyde Maxwell Dillinger, 83, of Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin, died at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in Autumnwood Care Center.
He was born in McComb on Feb. 25, 1918, to Cirus V. and Nellie R. (Oaks) Dillinger. He had lived in the Tiffin area since 1959 with his former residence at 2889 W. US 224, Tiffin, OH. He married
Opal Hinesman at Bowling Green on April 4, 1938, and she lives at 2889 W. US 224, Tiffin.
Survivors include three children, (Ronald) and Charlene Dillinger of Dallas, Texas, (Ed) and Betty Dillinger of Bloomville, and Jeanne Richey of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are: his parents, a son, four brothers and three sisters.
He retired from Atlas in 1979 as an inspector after 17 years. He was a member of Trinity United Brethren Church (Fostoria) and was music director at the church for eight years. He graduated from McComb High School in 1936.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Turner-Engle Funeral Home, Tiffin, with the Rev. Keith Davis officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Brethren Church in Fostoria.
Mabel G. Riedel
Mabel Grace Riedel, 93, of 3303 E. CR 37, Tiffin, died at 10:41 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
She was born July 20, 1908, in Plankton, Ohio, to Orta and Iris (Downing) Honsberger. Both are deceased. She married
Virgil A. Riedel in Tiffin. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Jan Riedel of Tiffin; three daughters, Janita Hauk of Port Charlotte, Fla., Karen Riedel of New York City, and DaLee Miller of Ossining, N.Y.; a brother, William Honsberger of Sycamore; and a sister, Doris Everhart of Chesterfield, Mo.
Deceased also include: a brother and a sister.
Mrs. Riedel was a homemaker and lived in Tiffin all her life. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She was a 1924 graduate of Melmore High School.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jared Williams and the Rev. Daniel Bare will co-officiate services. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church.
Mary Frances Brown
Mary Frances Brown, 80, 143 Longfellow Drive, Tiffin, Ohio, died at 7:27 a.m. Sunday Dec. 16, 2001, in Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
She was born June 26, 1921, in Hamilton, Ohio, to the late Louis C. and Leona (Schreck) Traunero. On Jan. 14, 1943, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, Ohio, she married
Ralph V. Brown. He died Oct. 13, 2001.
Survivors include: three sons, Ralph L. Brown of St. Petersburg, Fla., Michael Brown of Granville, Ohio and James P. Brown of Greenville, Miss.; two daughters, Mrs. James (Jeanne) Crandall of Massena, N.Y., and Kristine L. Brown of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Robert Traunero of Tiffin, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Karl (Judy) Burns of Overland Park, Kan.; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Kathleen Brown, and two brothers, William and Brother Damien Traunero, also are deceased.
A 1939 Calvert High School graduate and a 1940 Sayre Beauty College graduate, Mrs. Brown was a retired cosmetologist. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, Ohio, the Cursillo Movement, the Rosary Altar Society, St. Francis Auxiliary and Senior Citizens.
A funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Frank Murd as celebrant. The rosary will be recited at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today, Dec. 18, 2001, at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio; (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be at 3:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Nicole R. Stearns
Nicole Rene Stearns, 17, of Toledo died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Cleveland.
She was born Jan. 7, 1984, in Bluffton to Charles J. and Robin A. (Fuhlbrigge) Stearns. He survives in Tiffin and she survives in Toledo.
Survivors also include: a brother, Benjamin J. Stearns of Toledo and grandparents, the Rev. Karl and Mary Fuhlbrigge of Monroe, Mich., and Howard and Carol Stearns of Milbury.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Toledo, where friends will be received after 10 a.m. Burial will be in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park in Toledo.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Strabler Funeral Home, 1163 W. Sylvania in Toledo.
Merril E. Bollinger
Merril E. "Bud" Bollinger, 76, of Bellevue, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at his winter residence in Sebring, Fla.
He was born May 31, 1925, in Cleveland to the late Jay A. and Rose J. (Bollinger) Noble. He married
Carol Bond June 15, 1949. She survives.
Survivors also include: four sons, Mark, John, Paul and Joseph Bollinger, all of Bellevue; three daughters, Mrs. Vincent (Sandra) Loparo of Bellevue, Mrs. Ed (Brenda) Bolen of Willard and Mrs. Thomas (Linda) Aigler of Bellevue; a brother, Robert Grind of Monroeville; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Joanne) Lucas of Marblehead, and Mrs. Francis (Ann) Sparr of Goshen, Ind.; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bollinger was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in Bellevue Catholic cemetery in Bellevue.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Auxter Funeral Home in Bellevue, with the rosary recited at 3:30.
Mary E. Frederick
Mary E. Frederick, 67, of Wayne, died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon, Ohio.
She was born July 28, 1934, in Willard, to the late Henry and Harmina (Bogema) Newmeyer. She married
Durwood E. Frederick Dec. 23, 1965, in Fostoria. He survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Timothy F. Frederick of Mermill, Ohio; two daughters, Violet J. Myers of Risingsun and Diana L. Hammer of Wayne; two stepdaughters, Vicky L. Dean of Bradner and Victoria L. Richmond of Risingsun; three brothers, Herbert and Theodore Newmeyer, both of Shelby, and Dale Newmeyer of Attica; eight sisters, Wilma Baumier of Bowling Green, Ky., Emma Shetterly of Tiffin, Virginia Smith and Harmena Elmer, both of Willard, Hilda Lee of Fostoria, Julia Ginter and Crystal Messersmith, both of Shelby, and Rose Wadsworth of Norwalk; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Barndt Funeral Home, 121 West South St., Wayne. Burial will be in Bradner cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Incarnata M. Gillig
Incarnata M. "Inky" Gillig, 81, 182 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, Ohio, died Monday Dec. 17, 2001, in the emergency room of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
She was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late William and Helen (Haupright) Gates. Her husband, R. George Gillig, whom she married
Jan. 18, 1941, in Norwalk, Ohio, died Feb. 17, 1966.
Survivors include: three sons, James L. Gillig of Tiffin, Ohio, Michael Gillig of Columbus, Ohio, and Paul Gillig of Greenwood, Ind.; four daughters, Mrs. Roger (Patricia) Heckel of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Edward (Marilyn) Wangler of Lakewood, Ohio, Mrs. Terry (Susan) Weidner of Massillon, Ohio, and Christine Rivera of Tiffin, Ohio; a sister, Rosaria Reichert of Norwalk, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Four brothers, John, William, Al and Paul Gates, also are deceased.
Mrs. Gillig, a 1937 graduate of St. Paul's High School, Norwalk, Ohio, received her associate degree from Bliss College in 1939. She had been employed as a secretary at Tiffin State Hospital and Heidelberg College. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, its Rosary Altar Society and the Emblem Club, where she served as past president. An avid golfer and card player, she also enjoyed swimming.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday Dec. 20, 2001, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Msgr. Edward Dunn officiating. The rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where Emblem Club services will be at 10:15 a.m.
Memorials may be made to Calvert High School Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
Opal N. Bechtel
Opal N. Bechtel, 92, formerly of Elm Ave., Tiffin, died at 11:55 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin.
She was born April 13, 1909, in Tiffin to the late William H. and Nettie M. (Carry) Zeiter. She married
Earl E. Bechtel on Nov. 30, 1947, in Washington Court House, Ohio. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1969.
She is survived by several cousins.
Mrs. Bechtel retired in 1984 as a secretary at Leister Insurance Agency.
She was a member of A.A.R.P., The Humane Society; and Daughters of America.
The Rev. Jan Kucera will officiate services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home in Tiffin. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery in Tiffin.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Mary C. Englehart
Mary Catherine Englehart, 87, of 403 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, died at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, in St. Francis Home in Tiffin.
She was born July 28, 1914, in Delphos, Ohio, to the late Frank and Clara (Hempfling) Schmelzer. She married
William W. Englehart on Aug. 28, 1937, in the St. Joseph Auditorium. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1986.
Survivors include: two sons, John and wife Pat Englehart of Tiffin and Michael and wife Anne Englehart of Brook Park, Ohio; a daughter, Suzanne Englehart of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were: three brothers, the Rev. Sylvester Schmelzer, Arnold Schmelzer, and Henry Schmelzer; a sister, Adele Moran; and two infant sisters.
Mrs. Englehart graduated from St. John High School in Delphos and retired as a teacher's assistant at the School of Opportunity.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society where she had been a past president. Memberships also included: The Daughters of Isabella where she was a past Regent; The Poor Souls Society; St. Francis Auxiliary; Public Employees Retirement System; and Sandusky River Valley Police and Fire Retirees Chapter 33.
She also enjoyed playing cards and puzzles and playing the piano and singing especially during the holidays.
The rosary will be recited at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, followed by services at noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin. Msgr. Edward Dunn will be the officiant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
