Danny Joe Cantrell
Danny Joe Cantrell, 53, of 131 N. Monroe St., Tiffin, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at his residence.
He was born May 10, 1948, in Seneca County, Ohio to the late Joe and Clarabelle (Lofton) Cantrell. He married
Joyce Frederick on May 27, 1976, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death in January of 1990.
Survivors include: a son, Robert D. Cantrell of Tiffin and a grandson, Sebastian Cantrell.
Deceased also include: a daughter, Hope Elaine Cantrell, who died at the age of one; and a brother, Stephen Cantrell.
Mr. Cantrell was employed at Coppus Motors and Tiffin Ford.
He was a member of the Nazarene Church and the Moose Lodge.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin. The Rev. Wendell D. Shepherd will be the officiant. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

S. Renee' Augustine
Suzanne Renee' (Goodwin) Augustine, 41, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Nov. 5, 2001, in Round Rock, Texas. She was born in Elyria, Ohio Jan. 13, 1960, to William F. and Norma M. Goodwin and they survive. She married
James M. Augustine Aug. 21, 1982, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Tiffin, Ohio.
She is survived by her husband and daughters, Amy Karin Augustine and Katy Ann Augustine. Other survivors include her brother, Lt. Col. William F. Goodwin II USAF Ret., her grandmother, Mrs. William Goodwin; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her grandparents, William Goodwin and Mr. and Mrs. Claude L. Fant preceded her in death.
Renee' graduated from Columbian High School in 1978, where she was active in band, choristers, choir and theater. She graduated from Miami University in 1982, with a bachelor of science degree in speech and hearing therapy. She earned a master of science degree from East Carolina University. She worked as a speech pathologist in North Carolina, California and Mt. Vernon, Ohio until illness forced her to retire.
She spent the last 13 years of her life courageously fighting a brain tumor through six brain surgeries and endured numerous sessions of chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Before moving to Round Rock, Texas, the family attended the Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
She has been cremated and the ashes will be placed in a suitable location.
There will be a memorial service at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 131 E. Perry St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, at 2 p.m. on Nov. 17 with the Rev. William Smith officiating. Visitation will take place one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials can be made in the name of Suzanne Renee' Augustine, to the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, 300 W. 10th Ave. Suite B-13-459 Columbus, OH 43210-1240, Trinity United Church of Christ or a charity of the donor's choice in lieu of flowers.

David G. Lange
David G. Lange, 68 years old, 158 W. Market St., Tiffin, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday Nov, 7, 2001, in St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.
He was born March 5, 1933, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Gilmore H. and Ruth V. (Baker) Lange.
Surviving are two brothers, Daniel P. Lange of Tiffin, Ohio and Michael B. Lange, of Tiffin, Ohio; a sister, Pamela L. McLaurin of Lisle, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
A 1951 Calvert High School graduate, Mr. Lange was a United States Army veteran. He had attended Campion Jesuit Boarding School in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. He was a 1957 graduate of the St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri, with a degree in economics.
Mr. Lange was a retired real estate agent at Hennessy Real Estate. He had also worked at Tiffin Developmental Center. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday Nov. 9, 2001, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Msgr. Edward Dunn officiating. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery. The United Veterans Council will perform military graveside services at the cemetery immediately following the Mass.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today Nov. 8, 2001, in Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Janette J. Nissley
Janette J. Nissley, 64, of Honeymaple Lane, Toledo, died at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at her home.
She was born Dec. 30, 1936, in Fostoria, to Floyd and Helen (Strausbaugh) Hoffman, and they are deceased. She married
Robert Ray and they were divorced. She later married
Martin W. Nissley on Jan. 6, 1978, in Fostoria. He preceded her in death June 20, 2000.
She was a very kind and loving mother of six children.
Survivors include: a son, Robert D. Ray Jr. of Toledo; five daughters, Janis Caunter of Toledo, Robyn Blackburn of Bloomdale, Linda Roberts of Bowling Green, Cheryl Adelsperger and Carole Lanker both of Fostoria; a sister, Rose Baney of North Baltimore; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death also include: a brother, Donald Hoffman.
Mrs. Nissley retired in 1995 as Activities Director and Pastoral Care Person at St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.
She was a 1954 graduate of Fostoria High School and a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arcadia. She was a member of the Fostoria Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. The Rev. David Bliss will be the officiant. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Daybreak of Fostoria or American Diabetes Association.
Nina M. Schmidt
Nina M. Schmidt, 96, of Upper Sandusky, died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Wyandot Manor Nursing Home in Upper Sandusky.
She was born June 5, 1905, in Wyandot County, to the late Bert E. and Lulu (Savidge) Hudson. She married
Lawrence C. Schmidt on Aug. 10, 1927, in Carey. He died Aug. 23, 1989.
Survivors include: a son, Dr. David Schmidt of Portage, Ind.; four daughters, Mrs. Jack (Betty) Paxton of Sarasota, Fla., Mrs. Dane (Jeanette) Stephens of Springfield, Mrs. Ned (Donna) Gregg of Sycamore and Mrs. James (Barbara) Stief of Upper Sandusky; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at North Salem Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, 226 E. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky and one hour prior to Saturday's service at the church.
Willis Putnam Jr.
Willis Putnam Jr., 74, of Carey, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at his residence.
Arrangements are pending with Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
Gary A. Collins Sr.
Gary Allen Collins Sr., 51, of Defiance and formerly of Carey, died at 11:07 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, in Defiance Hospital, Defiance.
He was born Jan. 11, 1950, in Carey to Garner S. "Slim" and Lois (Snook) Collins. Both are deceased. He married
Teresa F. Parsons and they divorced.
Survivors include: a son, Shennon R. Collins of Carey; a daughter Shaleena F. Collins of Defiance; four brothers, Steve Collins of Mt. Blanchard, Jack Collins of Findlay, Richard Collins of Deshler and John "Chips" Conley of Carey; a sister, Mrs. Al (Janet) Nye of Lakeland, Fla.
He served in Vietnam for three years from 1968-1970 and received two purple hearts.
Full graveside military services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at Spring Grove cemetery in Carey. Burial will follow.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
Alice M. Hassinger
Alice M. Hassinger, 66, of 214 Hamilton St., Bellevue, died on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001 at Bellevue Hospital. She was born Nov. 18, 1934 to Herbert and Cathryn (Stockmaster) Missler. On Sept. 15, 1956 she married
Glen Hassinger. He died in 1994.
Surviving include: four daughters, Mrs. Debbie Horning of Bucyrus, Mrs. Cheryl Drown and Mrs. Susan Berberick, both of Bellevue, and Mrs. Lori Rogers of Norwalk; a brother, Paul Missler of Bellevue; and nine grandchildren.
The Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be at Bellevue Catholic cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Foos & Son Funeral Home in Bellevue. Rosary service at 3:30 p.m.
Linda Mary Haudenshield
Linda Mary Haudenshield, 52, of Kokomo, IN, formerly of Tiffin, died at 8:21 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001. She was born July 19, 1949 in Tiffin to Laurent and Mildred (Feasel) Elchert.
Surviving include: a daughter, Kimberly Casner; two sons, Roger Haudenshield of Kokomo, and Troy Elchert of HIllsboro; a sister, Margaret Hoerig of Tiffin; and three brothers, Laurence Elchert of Burgoon, Donald Elchert of Republic, and Marvin Elchert of North Robinson.
Interment services will be held at Knollcrest cemetery in Arcadia at 2 p.m. Monday.
Willis M. Putnam Jr.
Willis M. Putnam Jr., 74, of 2064 SH 568, Carey, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001. He was born April 6, 1927 in Carey to Willis M. and Helen (Bleam), Sr. On March 1, 1952 he married
Joyce A. Hatch., and she survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Steve, John and Dan Putnam, all of Carey; three daughters, Sandy Vaughn and Mrs. Cheryl Stombach, both of Carey and Mrs. Becky Hawkins of Findlay; five sisters, Rita Hendricks of Vanlue, Joyce Hauenstein of Findlay, Mrs. Janet Heck, Mrs. Annette Faber and Mrs. Carol Mittermaier all of Carey; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Putnam was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WW II.
The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. Burial will be at Lee cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m., tonight, at the funeral home.
William E. Rohe
William E. Rohe, 61, of Clyde, who died on June 11, 2001, will have a graveside memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairmont cemetery.
C. LeVerne Wertz
C. LeVerne Wertz, 75, of 1043 N. SR 635, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. Arrangements are pending at Turner-Engle Funeral Home.
Herbert E. Lowery
Herbert E. "Herb" Lowery, 83, of 651 Broadway, Fostoria, died at 11:40 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born March 19, 1918, to Cletus and Susan (Snauffer) Lowery. He married
Genevieve Janulewicz Oct. 26, 1943, in Louisville, Ky. She is deceased.
Survivors include: a son, Michael C. of Columbus, Ind.; a daughter, Mary Anne Harr of Fostoria; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, James of Findlay; and three sisters, Ginny Bohring, Mae Clinker and Sandy Thompson all of Fostoria.
He was in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church with burial in St. Wendelin's cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a wake service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m.
Judith F. Bethel
Judith F. Bethel, 59, of Forsythe Avenue, Columbus, and formerly of Fostoria, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at her home.
She was born April 11, 1942, in Fostoria to Hermet and Elizabeth L. (Hemminger) Bethel who are deceased.
Survivors include a brother, Danny Bethel of Fostoria; a sister, Carolyn Wonder of Fostoria; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Zion Lutheran cemetery in Seneca County.
The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is handling the arrangements.
C. LeVerne Wertz
C. LeVerne Wertz, 75, of 1043 N. SR 635 in Tiffin, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born July 5, 1926, in Bascom to the late Jacob and Lulu (Smith) Wertz. He married
Zoa Slutz and she preceded him in death Sept. 14, 1975.
Survivors include a daughter, LaNeta Wertz of Galion and a brother, Evan Wertz of Tiffin.
Preceding him in death also include: a daughter, LaVena Wertz and a brother, Wendell Wertz.
Mr. Wertz served on the Board of Directors of Citizens Savings and Loan. He was a farmer and auctioneer.
He was a member of Union United Church of Christ in Bascom and taught Sunday School many years. He was also a member of the Christian Leaders Class.
Memberships also included: a charter member of Bascom Lions Club and a Melvin Jones Fellow; Tiffin Moose, Tiffin Elks, the Republican Party, served six terms as a Seneca County Commissioner; Northwest Commissioners Association, served as precinct chairperson and Notary Public; Pleasant Grove Grange and Pomona Grange; Seneca County Farm Bureau; FFA State Officer; State FFA Hall of Fame; and National FFA member.
He was awarded the American and State Farmer Degree and was appointed to the Seneca County Agriculture Hall of Fame. He played with the Ernie Duffield Dance Band, the Fostoria VFW Post Band and belonged to the Fostoria Union of Musicians,
Mr. Wertz was a Hopewell-Loudon School graduate class of 1944 and class president. He was responsible for alumni gatherings for many years.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Union United Church of Christ in Bascom. Pastor Jim Michaels and the Rev. Roy Howell will be the officiants. Burial will be in Sand Ridge cemetery.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Monday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and/or the Union United Church of Christ in Bascom.
