Duane Burgderfer
Duane Burgderfer, 77, of 77 Westwood Drive, Tiffin, Ohio and formerly of McCutchenville, Ohio died at 10:32 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born May 25, 1924, in Wyandot County, Ohio to Miley and Rae (Weininger) Burgderfer. They are deceased. He married
Helen Eileen Palmer on Aug. 25, 1946. She died July 13, 1977. He then married
Imogene (Kear) Strauch on June 29, 1979. She survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Glenn E. Burgderfer of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Donna) Gale of Columbus, Ohio; three stepchildren, Larry Strauch, Deb Williams and Mrs. Joe (Sharon) Blust, all of Tiffin; a sister, Mrs. Francis (Helen) Staib of Fremont; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Karl and Charles Burgderfer.
Mr. Burgderfer retired from the family farm in 1979. He also drove bus and was a custodian for the Mohawk School System and a custodian for the Tiffin City School System.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Tiffin.
He was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy during World War II. He belonged to the American Legion and Amvets, both of Tiffin.
He was a graduate of McCutchenville High School in 1942 and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He enjoyed fishing and people, and living life by the "Golden Rule".
Services will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2001, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore. The Rev. David M. Culp will be the officiant. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery in McCutchenville.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, to St. John's United Church of Christ, or to the American Heart Association in care of Walton-Moore Funeral Home, 201 W. Saffel Ave., Sycamore, OH 44882.
Rozella A. Terry
Rozella A. Terry, 71, of 330 Ohio Ave., Tiffin, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at her home.
She was born Feb. 27, 1930, to Henry and Ellen (Wehrle) Funk. Both are deceased. She married
Garland Terry. They later divorced.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Beverly) Brown of Republic and Ms. Carol Wilson of Winchester, Ky., a brother, Frank Henry Funk of Alvada; two sisters, Mrs. John (Rebecca) Serin of Carey and Goldie Sowers of Sycamore; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home in Tiffin. Burial will be in Washington Chapel cemetery in Gibsonburg, Ohio.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Virtie Emahiser
Virtie "Lois" Emahiser, 63, of Fostoria, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.
She was born Sept. 11, 1938, in McCeary County, Ky., to the late Jessie and Robbi (Vanover) Perry. She married
Charles R. Emahiser of Feb. 14, 1979, in Fostoria. He died Oct. 5, 1985.
Survivors include: sons, Kenneth Emahiser and Charles Patrick of Fostoria, Larry Emahiser of Risingsun, Dennis Emahiser of Bellevue, Rodrick Emahiser of Monroe Falls, Jessie, Jeffrey, Tim and Tom Patrick all of Parkers Lake, Ky., daughters, Marilyn Patrick and Carolyn Goodin both of Parkers Lake, Ky., April Emahiser of Colorado Springs, Colo., a brother, Charles Perry of Parkers Lake, Ky., many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria with the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in McCutchenville cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to services, Tuesday, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home.
Donald R. Thompson
Donald Richmond Thompson, 94, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., died at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Arbors in Ft. Wayne.
He was born Aug. 1, 1907, to William Thompson and Rebecca (Mann) Thompson. They are deceased. He married
Euphemia "Mickey" McMillan on March 20, 1928, in Ft. Wayne, Ind. She died in 1968.
Survivors include: a son, Donald J. Thompson of Fremont; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Sharon K.) Phillips of Prescott, Ariz., 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army Infantry from 1940-1945 in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
There are no scheduled services. Burial will be in Rock Creek cemetery.
There will be no visitations.
Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin is in charge of arrangements.
Christina M. Williams
Christina M. Vogelsong-Williams, 84, of 36 Maple St., Tiffin, died at 9:36 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home in Tiffin.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Further arrangements are pending at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
John W. Quinn
John W. (Jack) Quinn, 69, of Republic, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 29, 1931, to the late John and Catherine (Gllant) Quinn. He married
Jayne L. Weller and she survives.
Survivors also include: a stepdaughter, Pamela Weller of Republic; four sisters, Gwen Dorion, Maude Dunn, and Marion Quinn, all of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada and Josie Neal of England.
Services will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, SR 19, Bloomville. Burial will be in St. Jacobs cemetery, CR 38, Republic.
Visitation is noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to services at the funeral home.
Janet R. Wagner
Visitation for Janet R. Wagner, 62, of McCutchenville, who died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo, will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, 201 W. Saffel Ave. in Sycamore.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Cynthia Morrison officiating.
Anna M. Tolento
Anna M. Tolento, 68,formerly of Fostoria, died on Friday, Sept. 14, 2001 in Berne, Ind. She was born Aug. 16, 1933 to Rafael and Olivia (Rubio) Tolento. They are deceased.
Surviving include: a sister, Sarah Tolento of Dearborn, Mich.; and five brothers, Ernest Tolento of Fremont, Ralph Tolento of Fostoria, Alfred Tolento of Fla., Robert Tolento of Mexico and Salvador Tolento of Ariz.
The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2001 in St. Wendelin Church, Fostoria. Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery.
There are no visitation hours.

John S. Hampshire
John S. Hampshire, 78, of 62 B Siesta Dr., Tiffin, died on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001 at St. Francis Home. He was born June 19, 1923 to Burdett and Mary (Smith) Hampshire, both deceased.
Surviving include: six sons, John David, Michael N., Jonathan D., and Thomas P. Hampshire, all of Tiffin, Todd C. Hampshire of Pendelton, Ind., Timothy A. Hampshire of Columbus; a daughter, Mrs. Timothy Rhinehart of Alvada; 26 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mr. Hampshire was a WW II Army Veteran.
The Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation hours are from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Robert Vera
Robert Vera, 43, of 22911 SR 12, Fostoria, died on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. He was born July 12, 1958 to Vincent and Lupe (Lara) Vera, they survive in Tiffin. On May 2, 1987 he married
Lynn Williams in Tiffin, and she survives.
Other survivors include: children, Risha and Bobby Vera of Tiffin; a brother, David Vera of Carey; six sisters, Lupe Rodriguez, Mrs. Gloria Hayes, Mrs. Sue Schock and Mrs. Josie Nutter, all of Tiffin, Mrs. Alice Keefe of New Riegel and Mrs. Martha Boehler of Perrysburg; and a grandmother, Clara Vera of Tiffin.
The Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bascom. Burial at St. Patrick cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home.
James K. Gerwin
James K. Gerwin, 75, died on July 7, 2001. He was born Feb. 26, 1926 to Dick and Juanita Gerwin. He married
Bernita Goodall and later divorced.
Surviving include: two brothers, John Gerwin of Bettsville and William Gerwin of Delano, Fla.
Mr. Gerwin was a WW II Marine Veteran.
Grave services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Union cemetery, Gibsonburg.
Jerry Lynn Hilty
Jerry Lynn Hilty, 59, of Hasting, died Saturday Sept. 22, 2001, at Pennock Hospital, Hastings.
He was born in Bluffton, OHio on July 2, 1942, the son of Gerald and Marvel (Stratton) Hilty and was reared in the Bluffton area, attended schools there and graduated Bluffton High School in 1962. He then went on to attend the Stautzenberger Technical Institute in Findlay, Ohio.
Mr. Hilty was employed 18 years at National Machinery Company in Tiffin, Ohio; 15 years Steelcase Company in Grand Rapids, MI and for the past two years at the Gordon Manufacturing Co. in Grand Rapids.
He moved to Middleville, MI in 1983, from Ohio and has lived in Hastings for the past several years.
Jerry "Jer" was passionate about and moved by music and leaves this legacy to his loved ones. He was an avid car buff who frequented auto shows and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of cars with others. He collected die cast cars and could often be found at Wal Mart checking out the latest shipment of hot wheels. He did not define himself by his career, but rather by the people and things he loved.
Surviving this great loss are beloved and best friend, Kathie Stewart of Hastings, MI; daughters, Michelle (Rick) Pekel of Fremont,, MI, Angela (Andrew) DeMeester of Holland, MI; son, Jeremy (Kristin) Hilty of Wyoming, MI; two grandchildren: James Mitchell Pekel, Makenna DeMeester; sisters, Joy (Leigh) Shoemaker of Kentucky, Diana (Paul) Marshall of Pennsylvania; children and grandchildren of Kathie Stewart.
Preceded in death by son, Mitchell Todd in 1969; father, Gerald Hilty; mother, Marvel (Stratton) Hilty.
Cremains will be at Maple Grove cemetery, Bluffton, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the James Dean Memorial Run, c/0 Fairmount Historical Museum, Fairmount, Indiana.

Georgia A. Golik
Georgia A. Golik, 68, 235 W. Market St., died Tuesday Oct. 2, 2001, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
She was born Sept. 22, 1933, in Utica, NY, to George and Florence (Ezard) Backus. Her husband, Edwin R. Golik, whom she married
May 9, 1953, in Utica, NY, survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Pamela Heneghan-Johnston of Decatur, IL, Kimberly and Ward Whitmer of Tiffin; two sons, Steven & Teresa Golik of Andover, KS and Richard and Beth Golik of Avon, OH; a former son-in-law, James Heneghan of Decatur, IL; mother-in-law, Stella Golik, formerly of Utica, NY and now Boynton Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren: Kristen Heneghan, Kara Heneghan, Kylie Heneghan, all of Decatur, IL; Todd Whitmer and Tracy Whitmer, both of Tiffin; Ashley Golik, Tara Golik and Aaron Golik, all of Andover, KS; Andrew Golik and Benjamin Golik, both of Avon, OH.
Mrs. Golik, a 1951 graduate of Whitesboro Central High School, Utica, NY, was a homemaker and former employee of Goodwill Industries. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 6. in Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jan Kucera officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
John S. Hampshire
John S. Hampshire, 78, 62 B Siesta Drive, Tiffin, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001.
He was born June 19, 1923, in Fostoria, to the late Burdette and Mary (Smith) Hampshire. His foster mother, Geneva Raymond, also is deceased.
Surviving are six sons, Michael N., Thomas P., and John David Hampshire, all of Tiffin; Todd C. Hampshire of Pendleton, Ind.; Timothy A. Hampshire of Columbus, OH and Jonathan D. Hampshire, also of Tiffin; a daughter, Stephanie D. and Tim Reinhart of Alvada;, OH a step son, Charles Feasel Jr. of Fostoria, OH; a foster brother, Kenneth Raymond of Marion, OH; foster sisters, Lori (Raymond) Fast of Fostoria, OH and Evelyn (Raymond) Hausman of Cary, NC; 26 grandchildren; Mindy, Jeremy, Holly, Aaron, Brandon, Andrea, Phillip, Michael, Timothy and Devin Reinhart; Kathryn, Nicole, Jason and Megan Hampshire; Charles, Shawn, Christopher, Eric and Cody Feasel; Ryan and Douglas Hampshire, Lori Hampshire and Robyn (Hampshire) Cook, Connie Hampshire, Jared and Tyler Hampshire; five great-grandchildren, Cindy Hampshire, Matthew and Alex Mullholand, Michaela and Hayden Cook.
A brother, Norman Hampshire, also is deceased.
Mr. Hampshire, a graduate of Columbian High School, retired as a construction worker from Focht Brothers, Dariano Construction and Agerter Masonry.
A World War II Army veteran, he participated in the Normandy Invasion, landing on Omaha Beach, on D-Day. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and three Bronze Star Awards,
He was a member of American Legion Post 169 and the First Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday Oct. 5, in the First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Margaret M. Marks officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
