Nettie V. Banks
Fostoria resident
Nettie V. Banks, 78, of 461 W. Lytle St., died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 16, 1922 in Fostoria, to Eber J. and Nettie S. (Emerine) Shook.
Both are deceased.
She married
Robert N. Banks on June 24, 1944 in Tiffin.
He died Jan. 29, 1999.
Survivors include seven sons, Ronnie Banks of Independence, Mo., Robert J. Banks of Fostoria, Daniel D. Banks of Tiffin, John N. Banks of Lima, William F. Banks of Bloomdale, Kevin M. Banks of Fostoria, and James Spangler of Florida; six daughters, Mrs. James (Nettie) Grine of Fostoria, Mrs. Stefen (Mary) Partlow of Bowling Green, Mrs. Jerry (Rita) Edinger of Tiffin, Mrs. Jerry (Cindy) Hopson of Findlay, Roberta Distel of Newark, and Sharon Breington of Florida; a brother, Joseph Shook of Tiffin; a sister, Leota Mears of Fostoria; 44 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Deceased include: two sons, George Spangler and Bevin Banks; three brothers, Ralph, Eber G., and Charles Shook; and four sisters, Helen Weimerskirch-Finsel, Thelma Shook, Dorothy Yeakle, and Gladys Shook.
Mrs. Banks was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria.
The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Thursday followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wendelin Catholic Church.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday with a Wake Service at 8:30 p.m. at Hoening Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association; Northwest Ohio Diabetes Assoc., or St. Wendelin Church.
Barbara Brodman
Upper Sandusky resident
Barbara M. Craft, 66, of Upper Sandusky, died at 8:25 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 at Wyandot Manor in Upper Sandusky.
She was born Feb. 17, 1935, in Carey to John and Bernice (Williams) Boyce Sr.
They are deceased.
She married
Ellis Craft on April 19, 1959.
He died Nov. 28, 1969. She then married
John Brodman on Aug. 16, 1980. He died March 7, 1990.
Surviving include: a son, Charles A. Craft of Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Gloria J. Craft of Findlay; and two sisters, Norma Boyce of Upper Sandusky, and Susan Yoxtheimer of Findlay.
Deceased include two brothers, John Jr. and Willard Boyce; and an infant sister, Marjorie Ellen Boyce.
Mrs. Craft-Brodman retired as a nurse's aide, having worked at both the Wyandot County Nursing Home and Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky.
She was a 55 year member of Grace United Methodist Church in Carey; a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary 2842; and Eagles 2184, both in Upper Sandusky.
She was a 1953 graduate of Carey High School.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
The Rev. James Sharrett will be the officiant.
Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery in Carey.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church in Carey or the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
Eugene F. Boes
Brother of Tiffin resident
Eugene Fred Boes, 87, of Norwalk, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 at Gaymont Nursing Center in Norwalk, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 6, 1914 in New Riegel.
Survivors include: a son, Leo Boes of Norwalk; three daughters, Mary Reese of Hinckley, Mrs. Charles (Ann) Conney of Norwalk, and Mrs. Pat (Millie) Pigman of Norwalk; a sister, Florence Ball of Tiffin; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Deceased include: his wife, Margaret (Schaub) Boes, his parents Henry and Mary (Clouse) Boes; two brothers, Clarence and Leo Boes.
Mr. Boes was a member of VFW Post 2743 in Norwalk, Norwalk Eagles Aerie 711, and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norwalk.
He served in the Army during World War II from 1944-1945.
He retired as a bartender in 1979 from Reineck's Cafe in Norwalk.
A mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norwalk.
The Rev. Nelson G. Beaver will officiate.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph's cemetery in Tiffin.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Evans and Groff Funeral Home in Norwalk, where an evening vigil service will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Joseph P. Mangano

Joseph P. Mangano, 62, of 22 Towne and Country Drive, Tiffin, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 in the Emergency Room of Mercy Hospital in Tiffin.
He was born Nov. 16, 1938 in Cleveland to Anthony and Rose (Mazzone) Mangano.
They are deceased. He married
Marilyn A. Howley on Sept. 5, 1964 at St. Cecilia Church in Cleveland. She survives.
Surviving include a son, Andrew J. Mangano of Wadsworth; a daughter, Mrs. Kevin (Susan) Preston of Nashville, Tenn., a brother, Anthony Mangano of Seven Hills; a sister, Nancy Klopp of North Olmstead; and four granddaughters.
Deceased are three brothers, William, Nick, and Sam Mangano; and two sisters, Josephine Bonfiglio and Toni Dahm.
Mr. Mangano was a 1960 graduate of Heidelberg College and a 1961 Ohio State graduate with a Physical Therapist degree.
He was a self-employed Physical Therapist.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin.
The rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, followed by mass at 11 a.m.
The Rev. Frank A. Murd will be the officiant.
Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home in Tiffin where a wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.

Lucille A. Eikenbary

Lucille Anna Eikenbary, 100, formerly of 169 Schonhardt St., died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Fostoria.
She was born Oct. 18, 1900, in Tiffin to John and Barbara (Spohn) Davis.
She married
Harvey J. Eikenbary on April 18, 1925, in Tiffin.
He died on Nov. 3, 1989.
Survivors include a son, Harvey J. Eikenbary Jr. of Fishers, Ind., a daughter, Mrs. William (Phyllis) Long of Gastonia, N.C., a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
Deceased include four sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Eikenbary was a member of the Second United Church of Christ in Tiffin.
Services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
The Rev. Dr. Arthur Geyh will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Tiffin.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Connie A. Hurlburt
Former school Superintendent
Word has been received that Connie A. (Smith) Hurlburt, 52, of Lake Mary, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001.
She was the daughter of the late J.W. and Emma Smith.
She married
Victor Hurlburt on April 22, 1972, and he survives.
A daughter Krista of Alexandria, Va. also survives.
Mrs. Hurlburt was formerly a Superintendent of Wyandot County Schools.
She graduated in 1967 from Mohawk High School and in 1971 from Bowling Green State University.
She taught at three elementary schools in Florida, was a member of Southern Handcrafters and Bowling Green Alumni Association.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Melmore St., in Tiffin.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be made to Hospice, First Lutheran Church, Melmore St., Tiffin, or B.G.S.U. Alumni Association.
Kermit B. Miller
Retired rural mail carrier
Kermit B. Miller, 82, of 580 Linn Street, Chillicothe, Ohio, died unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001.
He was born Jan. 24, 1919, in Adams Twp., Seneca County, Ohio, to the late Harvey H. and Maud (Baker) Miller. On June 29, 1945, in Chillicothe, he was married
to Martha I. Ralston, who died Dec. 28, 1997.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Dale R. and Beverly Miller of Excelsior, Minn., son, Dr. Dennis D. Miller of Berea, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Donna J. and Jim Luttrell of Chillicothe; three grandchildren, Logan Matthew Luttrell and Alex and Luke Miller; sister, Mrs. John W. (Margery E.) Heffner and nephew, John Rufus Heffner, both of rural Tiffin.
Mr. Miller was a rural mail carrier for 22 years; a member of Salem Community Church and the church choir.
He was a 1937 graduate of Green Springs High School, and a 1939 graduate of Tiffin Business University.
He had worked as an administrative clerk at the V.A. Hospital in Chillicothe.
Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1945, and in North Africa and Corsica, as a headquarters clerk with the 12th Air Force during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.; the United Commercial Travelers; had been active in the Boy Scouts in his earlier years in Chillicothe; was a genealogist, and was a member of both the Ross County and the Seneca County Genealogical Societies.
Funeral services took place at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, in the Ware Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Ohio.
Burial followed in Grandview cemetery in Chillicothe, Ohio.
