Garnita M. Babb

Garnita M. Babb, 79 of Fostoria, died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, in St. Francis Home in Tiffin.
She was born March 18, 1922 in Bellevue to the late Frank and Rose (Hosman) Roth. She married
Sherman "Pete" Babb on June 29, 1945 in Texas. He died June 18, 1986.
Survivors include: two sons, Billy Babb of Monterey, Tenn., and Cody Roth of Fostoria; a daughter, Brenda Miller of Dayton; two brothers, Donald and Bernard Roth, both of Fostoria; a sister, Sally VanBuskirk of Bascom, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Barbara Yambert, is deceased.
Mrs. Babb retired in 1987 from Allied Automotive and had formerly worked at the J. C. Penney Co. in Fostoria. She was a member of the Fostoria VFW Auxiliary.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. The Rev. Jim Michaels will be the officiant. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, near Arcadia.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Patricia L. Oberst

Patricia L. Oberst, 44, of 3845 E. Twp. Rd. 1155, died at 8:57 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 29, 1957, in Tiffin to Lawrence N. and Mary L. (Diehn) Miller. She married
Phillip D. Oberst March 15, 1974, in the First Lutheran Church in Tiffin.
Survivors include her husband; her mother of Tiffin; two daughters, Chastity D. and Lauren A. Oberst of Tiffin; three brothers, Charles D. and Lawrence Miller Jr. of Tiffin, and Gary D. Miller of Columbus; and five sisters, Mrs. Robert (Louise A.) Scaife, Loretta J. Miller, Mrs. Kenneth (Marietta J.) Estep, Mrs. William (Nancy A.) Owens all of Tiffin, and Mrs. David (Linda L.) Karcher of Carey.
Her father is deceased.
She attended Mohawk School and was a member of the First Lutheran Church where she was actively involved in all church organizations.
A memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m., Monday, in the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Margaret Marks officiating. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice or to American Cancer.

A memorial service for Stephen R. Varney, 44, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, in the Sycamore Shelter of the White Star Park, SR 300, Gibsonburg. He died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to Divers Alert Network or to National Veterans Wheelchair Games.

Sharlene W. Collins
Retired Melmore teacher
Sharlene W. Collins, 94, of Melmore, died at 6:35 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at the Wyandot County Home. She was born Nov. 25, 1906, to Esco E. and Lesta V. (Bostick) Wiseman. On Nov. 24, 1931, she married
Robert E. Collins. He died in 1991.
Survivors include: a son, Verne E. Collins of Winchester, Va.; a daughter, Evron S. Collins of Bowling Green; and three grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were: an infant son, Merne E. Collins; a brother, Roy Eiseman; and a sister, Lafern Eischen.
Mrs. Collins retired as an elementary school teacher from the Melmore school system. A member of Melmore Methodist Church, where she was an organist and involved in all church activities, she was also a member of several women's organizations and past member of Rebekah's Lodge in Melmore. She enjoyed music.
The Rev. Howard Huston will officiate the 10 a.m. Tuesday graveside service at Portage cemetery in Portage.
There are no visitation hours scheduled.
The Walton-Moore Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Jimmy R. Deel
Jim Deel Auto and Truck Repair owner
Jimmy R. Deel, 53, of Green Springs, died at 8:14 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, in Fremont, resulting from injuries sustained in an accident at Fremont Raceway Park.
He was born Jan. 23, 1948 in Grundy, Va., to Clyde and Margie (McClanahan) Deel. They survive in Green Springs. He married
Linda Sours on Jan. 21, 1967 in Green Springs United Methodist Church and she survives.
Surviving also include: a son, Jason Deel of Green Springs; two daughters, Mrs. David (Jami) Bettinger of Green Springs and Jessica Deel, at home in Green Springs; two granddaughters; two sisters, Lena Shaffer and Peggy Miller, both of Green Springs.
Mr. Deel, a graduate of Green Springs H. S. in 1966, was owner and operator of Jim Deel Auto and Truck Repair.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Engle-Young Funeral Home. Burial will be in Green Springs cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Red Cross for New York City Disaster Relief Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
Millie E. Roper
Mohawk High School teacher
Millie E. Roper, 38, of McCutchenville, died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at her residence.
She was born April 30, 1963, in Findlay to Michael G. and Judy Kay (Campbell) Karg, and they survive. She married
Scott D. Roper on April 23, 1983, in Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville and he survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Brennan Roper at home; a brother, Jim Karg of Upper Sandusky, and a sister, Mrs. Stephan (Vivian) Luhring of Bloomville.
An infant son, Michael David Roper is deceased.
Mrs. Roper was a Mohawk High School teacher and coached volleyball, basketball, track, and cross country for 13 years.
She also had helped with Little League Baseball in McCutchenville. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville, where she taught Sunday School and was a Deacon of the church; a member of the Order of Eastern Star in McCutchenville, and was a committee member for the Sycamore Summer Fest. She enjoyed camping with her family and collected apples.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore where the Rev. Roy Howell will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery in Sycamore.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Brennan Roper Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
Betty Jane Presler
Arcadia resident
Betty Jane Presler, 79, of Arcadia, died at 7:28 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001 in The Toledo Hospital.
She was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Findlay to the late Milton E. and Lula (Ellen) Beard. She married
Galen Ray Presler on Sept. 14, 1940, in Vanlue and he preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1997.
Survivors include: two daughters, Faye J. Taggart of Arcadia, and Mrs. James (Kay Ellen) Campbell of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by: two brothers, Lester T. and Gerald L. Beard, and a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Beard.
Mrs. Presler graduated in 1939 from Vanlue High School, was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Findlay and a member of the former Pythian Sisters of Arcadia. She was also a member of the National Rifle Association, Lakewood Church, Houston, Texas; and worked as a bookkeeper for 35 years for her husband at Presler Oil Co., in Fostoria, and retired in 1988. She was of the Evangelistic faith.
The Rev. Harold Bowling will conduct 10:30 a.m. services on Wednesday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. Interment will be in Knollcrest Gardens in Arcadia.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
Daniel L. Wagner Jr.

Daniel L. "Buddy" Wagner, Jr., 38, of Texas, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at Lewisville Hospital in Lewisville, Texas, of cancer.
He was born July 19, 1963 in Tiffin to Donna J. and Daniel L. Wagner.
Survivors include his mother, Donna J. Gerber; a grandmother, Rosemary Gerber; two sisters, Laura Sims of Fostoria; and Nicole L. Hunt of Napoleon.
Deceased is his father, Daniel L. Wagner; grandparents, Donald I. Gerber, and Sylvestor V. and Lois M. Wagner.
Mr. Wagner was involved on the internet and an active member of the N.R.A.
Arrangements are being handled in Texas.
Joseph B. Anderson

Joseph B. Anderson, 92, 116 Hall St., died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at his home.
He was born Feb. 10, 1909, in Tiffin to William and Mary Ellen (Walsh) Anderson, who are deceased.
He was married
Oct. 21, 1944, in Bedford, England, to Rita Stacey.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Keith of Tiffin, Paul of Franklin, and Joseph Jr. of Republic; five grandchildren, a great-grandchild; and a sister, Sister Damian Anderson, OSU, of Toledo.
Five sisters and three brothers are deceased.
Mr. Anderson was a sales clerk for 30 years at Schwable's Hardware, retiring in 1973.
He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, was an avid archer, bowler and bicyclist, and enjoyed his family.
He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church, and he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in England.
A funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Concelebrants will be the Rev. Michael Dandurand and the Rev. Stephen Schroeder. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoffmann Gottfried Funeral Home, with a wake service at 7:45 p.m.
The rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the church. Military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care or St. Mary Church.

Malcolm V. Ford

Malcolm V. "Mac" Ford, 80, of Tiffin, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at Autumnwood Care Center.
He was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Tiffin to the late Robert R. and Mary O. (Reinbolt) Ford. He married
Mary Yvonne Heistand. Sheis deceased.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. James (Debbie) Schonauer of Fredericktown; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
A sister, Evadna Rose Allbaugh is deceased.
Mr. Ford, a 1939 high school graduate, was a salesman.
Graveside services will be announced at a later date.
There will be no visitation.

John A. Riedy

John A. Riedy, 57, of Carrothers, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001 at the St. Francis Home in Tiffin.
He was born Feb. 21, 1944, in Tiffin to Al G. and Catherine (Fredritz) Riedy.
Survivors include: his mother, Catherine Riedy of Tiffin; a son, Mark Riedy of San Francisco, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Alexander (Maryellen) Cooke of Pensacola, Fla., two grandchildren; two brothers, David Riedy of Washington and Joseph Riedy of Michigan.
His father, Al G. Riedy, is deceased.
Mr. Riedy was employed by the Erie House Authority in the maintenance department and retired in Dec. 2000. He was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church, K of C, Tiffin, and was an antique dealer.
The Rev. Joseph Szybka will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Attica.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 1295 W. Tiffin, St., Attica, where a Rosary Service will take place at 8:30 p.m.
