Molly L. Casto
Former Old Fort teacher
Molly L. Casto, 41, of Bolivar, died at 1:13 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at the Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay.
She was born June 4, 1960, in Toledo, to Franklin D. and Bonny (Shasteen) Fraley Sr. She survives in Findlay. She married
Guillermo Barrientos and they divorced. She later married
Jesus Villegas and they divorced. She then married
Edward Casto, July 1, 2000, in Fostoria and he survives.
Survivors also include: a son, William B. Barrientos of Bulivar; two daughters, Christina Alfaro of Findlay and Victoria L. Barrientos of Bulivar; a stepson, Mason T. Casto of Dover; a stepdaughter, Marina J. Casto of Dover; brothers Franklin Fraley Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif., and Christopher Fraley of Findlay; sisters Donna Fraley and Kim Gomez, both of Findlay, and Carla Kasubinski of Gahanna.
Her father, Franklin Fraley, Sr. is deceased.
Mrs. Casto was a multi-handicap teacher at the Navarre Elementary School and been previously employed at the McKinley Center in Canton, Old Fort High School and the Blanchard Valley Elementary School in Findlay.
She was a 1978 graduate of Findlay High School. She earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Findlay, where she had been working on a master's degree.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. The Rev. Donald Goodwin will be the officiant.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to her children or a charity of the donor's choice.
Lu Alafita Orndorff-Shelnick
Clyde resident
Lu Alafita Orndorff Shelnick, 62, of Clyde, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at his residence.
She was born Sept. 10, 1938 in Catulla, Texas to Franciso and Virginia (Quesada) Alafita and both are deceased. She married
John W. "Bill" Orndorff on Sept. 25, 1959 and he died in 1974. She later married
Donald Shelnick Sr. on Oct. 27, 1978, and he survives.
Survivors also include: a son, John C. Orndorff of Norwalk; three daughters, Mrs. James (Valerie) Shafer of Livonia, Mich., Mrs. Steven (Jacqueline) Martzke of Lambertville, Mich., and Mrs. Joseph (Elizabeth) Logan of Rochester, N. Y.; two stepsons, Donald Shelnick Jr. and Scott Shelnick, both of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, Juan Alafita of Clyde; and three sisters, Mrs. Juan (Mona) Casillas of Cotulla, Texas, Mrs. John (Mary) Johnson of Clyde and Mrs. Simon (Gloria) Araquz of Green Springs.
Two brothers, Carlos "Freddie" Alafita and Franciso Alafita Jr., are deceased.
Mrs. Orndorff-Shelnick owned American Audio in Fremont and Clyde Speed Shop and was a Realtor for Century 21.
Services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde. The Rev. Tito Ollervides will be the officiant. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery in Clyde.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde.

Clayton A. Gabel
Fremont resident
Clayton A. Gabel, 92, formerly of Fremont, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at St. Francis Health Care Center where he had been a resident.
He was born March 28, 1909, in Riley Township, to the late Aloys and Caroline (Fisher) Gabel. He married
Dorothy Jean Phelps on May 12, 1952, in Bowling Green and she survives in Green Springs.
Survivors also include: two daughters, Roxanne Gabel of Fremont and Cherry Roosen of Walbridge; a sister, Gladys Sisinger of Sycamore; and a grandson.
A brother, Melvin Gabel, and two sisters, Eulalia Sherman and Mildred Gabel, are deceased.
Mr. Gabel retired from farming in 1952 and then worked as a laborer for Rural Serv and retired in 1974.
He was a 1927 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and a former member of the Riley Grange.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Herzog officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Clyde.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, 425 E. State St., Fremont.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.
Paul R. Warnement
National Machinery retiree
Paul Richard Warnement, 93, of 303 Greenfield St., Tiffin, died at 12:04 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 8, 1908, in Tiffin to the late Leo and Ida (Zirger) Warnement. He married
Marian F. Sexton on Jan. 18, 1928. She died Jan. 1, 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Richard Warnement of Tiffin; two brothers, Elmer Warnement of Tiffin and Herman Warnement of Canton; a sister, Alice Warnement of Tiffin; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased include: two sons, Edward and Thomas Warnement; a grandson, Thomas H. Warnement; two brothers, Ralph and Urban Warnement; three sisters, Frances Eichorn, Genevieve Warnement, and Sr. Mary Estelle Warnement, OSU.
Mr. Warnement retired from the Test and Service Department at National Machinery, having worked from 1928-1969. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; a member of the Quarter Century Club; Knights of Columbus, and the Elks Lodge. He was an avid bowler and a lifelong Tiffin resident.
The rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Friday, followed by services at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. James Steinle will be the officiant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 9:45-10:45 a.m. Friday at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home in Tiffin, prior to services at the church.

Barbara A. Simpkins

Barbara A. "Mom" Simpkins, 63, of 686 S. Sandusky St., Lot 37, died at 6:45 p.m. Aug. 30, 2001 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center where she had been a patient for three weeks.
She was born Oct. 10, 1937, in Carey to the late Lester and Jean (McNeil) Roof. She married
James Simpkins. He is deceased.
Survivors include four sons: Marty, Duane, David, and Kevin Simpkins all of Tiffin; three daughters, Karen House and Marla Kidwell, both of Tiffin, and Terry Huffman of Republic; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Gary Knowlton of Bloomville; three sisters, Marilyn Pahl and Carolyn Rose, both of Carey; and Nancy Richardson of Bucyrus.
Mrs. Simpkins was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a graduate of Carey High School.
A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Murd officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Hazel B. Brunthaver

Hazel B. Brunthaver, 88, of Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2001 in the care center.
She was born July 18, 1913 to the late Harry and Jessie (Thomas) Loganbach. She married
Carroll G. Brunthaver, Sr. on Aug. 9, 1929. He died Jan. 27, 1991.
Survivors include: two sons, Carroll G. Brunthaver, Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., and James M. Brunthaver of Fremont; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are two sons, John R. and Robert E. Brunthaver; a brother, Sherman Longanbach; and three sisters, Ruth, Naomi and Jane.
Mrs. Brunthaver was a member of Green Springs United Methodist Church; the Pottersville Farm Women's Club, Diet Club and Button and Bows Square Club.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs. Burial will be in Mt. Lebanon cemetery.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. at Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs.

Dorothy E. Miller

Dorothy Eilene Miller, 78, of Bascom, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at her daughter's home.
She was born Dec. 8, 1922 in Bloomville, to the late Meirl B. and Floy E. (Hull) Shimer. At the age of seven, she was adopted by Charles D. and Ida E. Shimer, and they are deceased. She married
James Adam Miller on Dec. 21, 1940 in Bascom and he preceded her in death June 2, 1994.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. David (Linda Ann) Creeger of Bascom; and four grandchildren.
Preceding her in death include: a son, James A. Miller; a brother, Doyle Armstrong and a sister, Olive King-Reinhart.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Bascom United Methodist Church and retired as a part-time secretary for St. Mark United Methodist Church in Findlay. She was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 11; Camp Fire Girls; and a Chancel Choir member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bascom United Methodist Church. The Rev. James S. Lambert will be the officiant. Burial will be in Sandridge cemetery in Bascom.
Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Jean S. Huenemann
Mother of Tiffin resident
Jean S. Huenemann, 73, of St. Paul, Minn., died at 6:09 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2001 at Lutheran Hospital.
She was born June 14, 1928 in St. Paul, Minn., to the late Chester R. and Vera A. (Luecke) Seward. She married
William A. Huenemann and he survives in St. Paul.
Survivors also include: three sons, William C. Huenemann of Minden, Neb., Clay S. Huenemann of Lafayette, Ind., and Kurt E. Huenemann of Tiffin; a sister, Ruth C. Ax of Las Vegas, Nev., and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Huenemann was a member of Peace United Church of Christ.
Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peace United Church of Christ, 9123 Aboite Center Road, St. Paul, Minn.
The Reverends Scott Callaghan, Donald I. Kaufman and Carol Barth-Schauss will be the officiants. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Klaehn-Fahl and Melton, Wayne St. Chapel in St. Paul.

William F. Whiteman

William F. "Bill" Whiteman, 59, of Fostoria, died at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001 at his residence.
He was born July 26, 1942 in Tiffin to the late Frederick W. and Doris E. (Clements) Whiteman. He married
Sharon K. Snay on Jan. 21, 1977 and she survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: a daughter, Stephanie A. Whiteman of Findlay; two brothers, Rick D. Whiteman of Ukiah, Calif., and Robert C. Whiteman of Cape Coral, Fla; and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Joyce) Swan of Toledo and Mrs. Gary (Barb) Bolfa of Point Place.
Mr. Whiteman was a Project Manager for 14 years at IT Corp. He was a member of the High Street United Methodist Church in Fostoria; the Tiffin Eagles Club and was a Tiffin Columbian High School graduate.
Services will take place at noon on Saturday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. The Rev. Jeffrey Waite will be the officiant. Interment will be in Fairmont cemetery in Tiffin.
Visitation is 10 a.m. - noon, prior to services, at the funeral home.

Elsie M. Koons

Elsie M. Koons, 72, of Fostoria, died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001 at the Toledo Hospital.
She was born May 21, 1929, in Sycamore to the late Russell R. and Mildred E. (Clingman) Riedel. She married
Norman F. Koons on Feb. 20, 1950 in the First Evangelical Church of Christ, Fostoria. He survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: a son, David L. Koons of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. James (Norma J.) Button of Spring Lake, N.C., Denise M. Durst of Fostoria; two sisters, Elma F. Ankney of Sycamore, and Delores I. Hushour of Sycamore; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death include a brother, William C. Riedel.
Mrs. Koons was employed for 11 years at Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co., in Bloomdale.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. the Rev. Donald R. Goodwin will be the officiant.
Visitations is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.
Victoria D. Taylor
Tiffin Developmental Center caregiver
Victoria D. Taylor, 63, of 686 S. Sandusky St., died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001 at her residence.
She was born Feb. 17, 1938 in Branford, Fla., to the late Robert and Gracie (Goodman) Johnson, Jr. She married
Alfred R. Taylor on Aug. 17, 1992 in Toledo, and he survives.
Survivors also include two cousins of Virginia and a niece of Pennsylvania.
A brother, Robert Johnson III, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Taylor graduated from high school in Medina, N. J., and was a direct caregiver at Tiffin Developmental Center and a member of Faith A. M. E. Chapel of Fostoria.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home in Tiffin. The Rev. Archie White will be the officiant. Burial will take place in Fairmont cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
