Glen T. Wiese
Tiffin residents father
Glen T. (Tom) Wiese, 66, of 8642 E. Circle Dr., Kendallville, Ind., died Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at his home. He was born on June 24, 1935 to Reuben and Altina (Peterson) Wiese. On June 1, 1957 he married
Ruth Ann Helber, and she survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, David (Doc) and Brian Wiese of Tiffin and Daniel Wiese of Temperance, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Karen Clapper of East Canton; three brothers, William and Raymond Wiese of Cleveland, and Terrence of Sagalville, Tex.; four sisters, Ruby Stevens of Stow, Nancy Clymer, Joyce Nichols and Joan Walker, all of Cleveland; five grandsons; a granddaughter; and a step granddaughter.
Deceased is a sister, Janice Wiese.
Mr. Wiese graduated from Cuyahoga Heights High School in 1953. He was employed at Superior Foundry and Grabler Mfg. in Cleveland. In 1966 he relocated to Tiffin and worked as a foundry engineer at the new Grabler Mfg. Facility and then Hayes-Albion Corp. He then moved to Indiana where he worked for Newman Mfg. until retiring in 1986. While in Tiffin he was a scout leader in Boy Scout Troop 462, a Junior Achievement advisor, member of the Tiffin Jaycees and Clinton Twp. Little League president and baseball and softball coach. He also was a member in the American Foundryman's Society and the National Street Rod Association. Upon retirement he became a devoted volunteer and later member of the board of directors at the Mid-American Windmill Museum in Kendallville.

Mary Teresa Jacoby
Carey homemaker
Mary Teresa Jacoby, 76, of 609 N. Vance St., Carey, died at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay. She was born March 30, 1925 to Joseph and Frances (Tunna) Fabiani. On June 19, 1948, she married
Harvey L. Jacoby at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Clyde, and he survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Thomas Jacoby of Toledo and Richard Jacoby of Carey; two daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Schroth of Tiffin and Catherine Rathburn of Carey; a sister, Julia Fabiani of Upper Sandusky; and six grandchildren.
Deceased include: a son, William Jacoby; and four brothers, Joseph, Harry, Lewis and Anthony Fabiani.
Mrs. Jacoby was a 1944 graduate of Carey High School. A homemaker and member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, she volunteered at the Franciscan Missions Association in Carey for 19 years, a member of the Rosary Altar Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
The Rev. Benjamin Knopp of OFM Conv. will officiate the 11 a.m. Friday Mass of Christian Burial at Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey. Burial will be at St. Mary cemetery, Carey.
Visitation hours are from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m., tonight, at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral home. A Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. tonight.

Ervin Wasserman
Fremont resident
Ervin Wasserman, 87, of 1521 W. McGormley Rd., Fremont, died on Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Fremont Memorial Hospital. He was born March 1, 1914 to A.S. and Clara (Buchman) Wasserman. On Sept. 17, 1955 he married
Anna M. Benner. She died Sept. 17, 2000.
Surviving include: three sons, Michael Wasserman, Thomas (Tom) Babione and Willie Babione, all of Fremont; four daughters, Suzanne Michael, Catherine Miller, Florence (Flossie) Guint, all of Fremont, and Marilyn Babione of Chicago; two brothers, LaMar Wasserman of Fremont and LeRoy Wasserman of Helena; two sisters, Claribel Decker of Fremont and Evelyn Smith of Tiffin; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two foster grandchildren.
Deceased include: two grandchildren; and two brothers Edward and Howard Wasserman.
Mr. Wasserman was a farmer, drove school bus for 14 years for Fremont, worked construction with his son Michael and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
There are no wake services scheduled. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery in Fremont.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home in Fremont.

Elizabeth J. Waitman
Former Risingsun resident
Elizabeth J. Waitman, 80, resident of Maplewood, N.J., formerly of Risingsun, died Sunday, July 29, 2001 at Winchester Gardens, N.J. She was born Jan. 21, 1945 in Risingsun to Wilhelm and Clara (Leydorf) Myers. On June 12, 1945 she married
Bernard R. Waitman. He died on Feb. 24, 1959.
Surviving include: two daughters, Mrs. Suzan Gorski of Kendall Park, N.J. and Mrs. Victoria Tatta of West Orange, N.J. and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Waitman was a 1939 graduate of Risingsun High School and received her bachelors degree in business administration & education from Bowling Green State University. She retired in 1984 as a business administration teacher at Lakota High School, prior to that she worked at Gibsonburg High School with over 30 years of service. She was a charter member of Kappa Delta at BGSU, United Methodist Woman and Fremont Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
The Rev. Gus Christo-Baker will officiate the 10 a.m. Saturday funeral service at the Scott-Trinity United Methodist Church in Risingsun. Burial will be at Trinity cemetery near Risingsun.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral home in Fostoria.

John "Crazy John" Lenz

John "Crazy John" Lenz, 68, of West Lytle St., Fostoria, died at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001 at Fostoria Community Hospital. He was born April 26, 1933 to Ray and Helen (Hoepf) Lenz. On July 4, 1992 he married
Ruth A. Plummer-Byerly, and she survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jason Lenz of Fostoria; four daughters, Diana Lenz, Cherie Lenz and Tina Lenz, all of Toledo and Sandra Reinhart of Fostoria; a step son, Ed Byerly of Portage; five step-daughters, Linda Roeber of Rawson, Karen Gibbs of Republic, Kristy Heldman of Pandora, Kathy Smith and Tammy Dean of Fostoria; a brother, David Cowgill of Crestline; eight grandchildren; 23 step grandchildren and 18 step great grandchildren.
Deceased is a grandson.
Mr. Lenz was a 1951 graduate of Calvert High School in Tiffin, he retired in 1995 as a self-employed painter and mechanic. His memberships included: Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God in Fostoria; and Fostoria Eagles Club 430; He was also a 1954 Golden Gloves Boxing Champion in Toledo and W. Virginia.
The Rev. Donald Goodwin will officiate the 11 a.m. Saturday funeral service at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Janet L. Kiesel, 68, of 28 S. Marion St., Bloomville, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2001 at the Ruffing Family Care Center in Bloomville. She was born June 17, 1933 to Charles and Sarah (Hollowell) Bliss. On March 29, 1952 she married

Kiesel, Jr. of Tiffin; four daughters, Mrs. Sherry Legron of Bloomville, Mrs. Debra Elchert of Tiffin, Mrs. Mia Shearer of Tiffin and Mrs. Belinda Holmer of Republic; two brothers, Darr Bliss of N.D. and Perry Bliss of Fremont; three sisters, Aurella Dines of Sandusky, Marilyn Frank of Fremont, and Kay Bower of Toledo; 10 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Decesaed include: a brother, Leroy Bliss; a sister, Eileen Mellow; and a granddaughter, Sarah Kohlenberg.
Mrs. Kiesel was a homemaker and member of the First Assembly of God in Tiffin.
The Rev. Robert Chew will officiate the 11 a.m., Friday Graveside funeral service at the Fairmont cemetery in Tiffin.
There are no visitation hours.

N. Roller 'Red' Fox

N. Roller "Red" Fox, 82, of 2323 Mccutchenville Rd., Fostoria, died at 3:38 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001 at Fostoria Community Hospital. He was born in Arcadia April 23, 1919 to Nicholas and Goldie (Roller) Fox. He married
Maxine Bloom (Now Maxine Phelps) in 1940. They later divorced, she survives in Fostoria. He then married
Arena B. "Renee" Speaker on Sept. 23, 1963. She died July 15, 1993
Surviving include: a son, Gary N. Fox of Tiffin; a stepson, Larry "Scott" Head of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Dian L. Brandt of Fostoria; a step-daughter, Mrs. Sue A. Thompson of Fostoria; a sister, Mrs. Leola Myers of Findlay; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
Deceased include: a brother, Irvin Fox; and a sister, Mrs. Wilma Lanker.
Mr. Fox graduated from Arcadia High School. He was a boiler operator at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee for 13 years retiring in 1983. A member of Grace United Church of Christ in Fostoria. He was an avid bowler and fisherman.
The funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be at Knollcrest Gardens in Arcadia.

Ida C. Arend, 100, formerly of 2713 Oxford Drive, Findlay, died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2001 at the Heritage. She was born in Alvada on April 16, 1901 to Fred and Lavina (Boes) Nye. On April 4, 1923 she married
Clarence P. Arend. He died Jan. 31, 1985.
Surviving include: a son, Leland Arend of Rockwood, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Ann Gulliford and Mrs. Leona C. Julien, both of Findlay; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Deceased include: two sons, Lowell and Lester Arend; three brothers, Charles, Urban and Casper Nye; three sisters, Florence Fosty, Susan and Leona Nye.
Mrs. Arend was a homemaker and member of St. Michael Catholic Church, The Ladies Christian Benevolent Association, Rosary Altar Society, Leo Councilettes, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, former member of Eagle Grange, and Blue Star Mothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church-East with Father Mike Hohenbrink officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael Catholic cemetery in Findlay.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., tonight, at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home. A Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Mary Evalyn George

Mary Evalyn George, 84, of 300 Highland Parkway, Upper Sandusky, formerly of Sycamore, died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2001 at Wyandot County Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 3, 1917 to Frank and Maime (Reefer) Flinn. On March 30, 1939 she married
Paul L. George. He died March 24, 1965.
Surviving include: a son, Roger E. George of Tacoma, Wash.; four sisters, Mrs. Ruth M. Cludy of Dunkirk, Mrs. Wanda M. Staley of Findlay, Mrs. Minnie M. Bash of Forest and Mrs. Norma J. Sherman of Kenton; two grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Harold E. George.
Mrs. George attended Kenton High School. She retired as an LPN working in various nursing homes in the area and also worked privately nursing individuals at home. She was a member of Community Christian Center of Upper Sandusky, she loved to cook and raise many varieties of flowers.
The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Community Christian Center in Upper Sandusky. Burial will be at Grove cemetery in Kenton.
Visitation hours are from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at the Walton-Moore Funeral home.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Viola E. Young
Fostoria Distribution retiree
Viola E. Young, 81, resident of Good Shepherd N.H. in Fostoria, died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001. She was born August 21, 1919 to George and Hattie (Smith) Cook. She first married
George Purtee, they divorced. She then married
Denver Young on Nov. 1951. He died Aug. 12, 1967.
Surviving include: two daughters, Mrs. Barb Deuble and Mrs. Cathy Burris, both of Fostoria; two sisters, Catherine Herod of Carterville, MO. and Martha Ellis of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 14 step great-grandchildren.
Deceased include: a son; and three brothers, Richard, Robert and Lewis Cook.
Mrs. Young retired in 1980 from Fostoria Distribution, prior to that she worked as a nurse's aid at Fostoria Community Hospital for 15 years.
The funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria with Jim Sampson officiating. Burial will be at Fountain cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.

Joseph V. Smith, 81, of 6306 CR 330, Fostoria, died at 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2001. He was born Dec. 6, 1919 to Louis and Veronica (Schroeder) Smith. On Sept. 6, 1947 he married
Ruth A. Riepenhoff, and she survives.
Other survivors include: five sons, Dennis J. Smith of Dayton, Louis J. Smith of Delta, Roger B. Smith of Alvada, Mark H. and S. Gary Smith, both of Fostoria; six daughters, Sister Bonnie Smith O.S.F., Tiffin, Mrs. Barbara J. Jamison of Ft. Wayne, Mrs. Catherine M. McKenzie of Louisville, KY, Mrs. Mary Lou Wambaugh of Cincinnati, Mrs. Ann E. Smallman of Metamora, and Mrs. Lori A. Merz of Cincinnati; two sisters, Rosemary Forton of Lima and Mary Beckman of Findlay; and 19 grandchildren.
Deceased include: four brothers, Ralph, Carl, James, and Victor Smith; and a sister, Emily Kreitzer.
Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WW II, he is a retired farmer and retired as a purchasing agent for Durez in Kenton. His memberships included: St. Wendelin Catholic Church; and New Riegel American Legion Post 354.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Wendelin cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation hours are from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, at the Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria. A Christian Wake service will be at 8:30 p.m. Sunday and Legion Memorial Service at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. at the church on Monday. The New Riegel American Legion will conduct Military Funeral Honors.

Robert J. Myers

Robert J. Myers, 77, of 107 S. Union St., Fostoria, died Friday morning August 3, 2001 at his home. He was born Aug. 15, 1923 in Upper Sandusky to Walter C. and Mary K. (Reamsnyder) Myers. On Aug. 14, 1944 he married
Rita M. Reinhart, and she survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Robert S. and Ronald J. Myers, both of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Kim Heater of Fostoria; a brother, Richard D. Myers of Fostoria; two sisters, Mary Lou Heptner, and Mrs. Barbara Waltermeyer, both of of Las Vegas, Nev.; 10 grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister Cathy Hauff.
Mr. Myers was the president of Myers and Sons Inc., his memberships included: a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WW II in the 101st Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles" in Battle of Bastogne. Past commander of American Legion Post 73; Elks Lodge 935; VFW Post 421, all of Fostoria; Operating Engineers Local 18, Toledo and IBEW Local 245, Toledo.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Wendelin Church. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation hours are from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Hoening Funeral Home. The United Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors.
